NOT THE COMPANY IT ONCE WAS - BUYER BEWARE. My family has worked with this company for ~40 years and I had high hopes of working with a local, family-run business. I agreed to the $2000 quote to replace my storm door and then after having a technician come out for measurements, the salesmen called to say it was actually going to cost an additional $1300 for materials (more than 50% higher than the quote!). I declined this work and was told they could still proceed. The salesmen called back again to say it would actually only cost an additional $800 because my "porch was actually smaller than I remembered", to which I again declined. The installation went well with no mention of the additional materials or work that the salesmen had requested. I then received the invoice that, to my surprise, included the additional $800 cost. I spoke with the salesmen to inquire about the charge to which he said that the storm door replacement couldn't have been completed without the additional work and that he "did me a favor" by reducing the amount from $1300 to $800.. despite the fact that he initially told me he just misremembered the specs of my front porch. The fact that this work was only mentioned by the salesman via phone and not either of the technicians in- person, led me to believe that it was an unnecessary upsell. I then received a call from George Grove III who patronizingly questioned how much I knew about business and that I don't know "how construction works". He told me that due to a catchall loophole phrase on the quote, I was required to pay for the additional work despite me declining it twice and even threatened legal action if I didn't. All of this and I still had to request they come back to finish the agreed upon work because their measurements didn't consider my deadbolt, so the front door and the storm door couldn't both be closed at the same time. They told me to buy a new deadbolt and they'd install it for me. Overall, this was a very disappointing customer experience and communication was poor all-around. They mentioned several times that they "aren't like Renewal by Anderson", but I felt completely taken advantage of as a young female homeowner. They may not be like Renewal, but I'm not sure this is any better. read more

I needed my sun porch windows replaced in my condo, and needed a fully insured and professional installer. I received quotes from a couple of places, and George J Grove & Son was the best overall. They came in and did the replacement in a very timely manner, and were quite thorough and professional in the installation. I had unknown damage to my structure beneath the original windows, and they repaired that in addition within the original charge estimate. I had them bid on a second windows replacement (bedroom window), and again, they were the best overall price. The window came in the wrong size, and the installer immediately discovered it before doing any work - and expedited the replacement (1 week!). The installation was again, very quick and professional. I would definitely recommend using them for window replacements. read more

I just wanted to say that your service technician that came to our home was fantastic! After he cleaned the gutters we had a conversation. Chris Barley, the tech, explained what was going on. He than told me that the one in the back had a bit of a slope issue and he bent it back. If there still is an issue I might have to get George Grove backtrack slope the gutter correctly. I followed up with a question about gutter guards. He told me not to bother it would be putting out money for nothing. I don't know about you, but in today's world, honesty is hard to find. The fact that Chris tried ( and did) fix our slope, and told us not to get the leaf guard means a lot to us. We will be using George Grove for any home improvement needs because of Chris! It was a pleasure dealing with this company from the very beginning. They came out quickly to give me an estimate and phoned me frequently to give updates. They made suggestions but there was absolutely no pressure. The men who did the work were exceptional, they each did their own thing and worked tirelessly simultaneously. I had George J Grove & Son install 5 very large custom sliding glass doors in my house. From the start of the process to the very last day, I can say everything was very professional and worth every penny. They came out three separate days to get exact measurements, which was a testament to attention to detail. As the doors were custom order, it was very important to have them built correctly the first time. The delay in ordering to the date of install was unfortunate, but due to COVID, not unexpected. (supply chain and out of their hands) Once the installation started, we were very impressed with the crew that came out to do the job. They were polite, hard working, and left the work area cleaner than they had found it. At one point, they even found a shingle that must have fallen off the roof in the snow, and went up on a ladder to fix it for me. Professional, polite and prompt My 70-year-old home needed some new storm doors, replacement windows and storm-and-screen window combinations. I went with Renewal by Andersen for the front of the house and while satisfied, the product was WAY overpriced. Grove bid for the back of the house and the Pro-Via line of doors, replacement windows and storm/screen combos are comparable quality to the Andersen, much more affordable and Grove's installation process and customer service were superb. We had our flat roof come lose and our home owners said to get an estimate on the repair. G.Grove gave us a quote for the repair we had to give a deposit for the work, we then contacted our home owner insurance co. they reviewed the quote and rejected the quote and found that it was not acceptable, they wanted the work listed by line item. We then had to find another roofing co. and we did. this contractor was approved. The repair was complete. we then contacted G. Grove and ask for our deposit to be returned they stated that they had purchased some material for the job when they have not been given the work they then stated we could only give us 50% back. We feel that they are not trustworthy and buyer be ware. read more
