Worst dentist I've ever been to. Insisted I had had my wisdom teeth removed and I had to argue with him that I hadn't for 10 minutes before he looked at my xrays again and conceded that they were there. He offered to do a cleaning which I explicitly said I did not want and prevented him from performing because I had already hit my insurance limit for cleanings for the year - he charged my insurance for it anyway and then ghosted me when I requested he retract the charge. Did a very simple procedure that failed only 1 week later and had to get redone by another dentist. He had no other staff in the office - no receptionist, no assistant, no hygienist. To this day I have anxiety that the botched procedure he performed on me has permanently damaged my tooth and will lead to a root canal. Please for the love of god go to any other dentist than this one. read more

It doesn't feel good to be unemployed and looking for my X rays this week, and then being told to "never contact this office again" without explanation, but it does feel good to leave a 1 star rating on their Yelp page. My First experience doing a whitening in the USA has been with Dr. Psaltis. First, I have to say the location is very convenient; his office is in a beautiful neighborhood. You can get there quickly by train, car, or even walking, depending on where you come from. Parking isn't a problem, and There are tons of parking meters on 72nd and Columbus Ave. When I entered his office, the office manager, Sonia, was very professional and friendly. The Communication with Dr. Psaltis's office before and after my treatment has always been on point. Dr. Psaltis was very pleasant and professional. He made sure I was always comfortable during the time that took the whitening 50 minutes. On the other side, I like the fact that even though I went for a cosmetic procedure, he checked my teeth before he did some X-rays to make sure that my dental health was on point. After the whitening, they gave me aftercare goodies and pain medication that I didn't need to use at all, and as mentioned before, They contacted next day to make sure everything was fine. My whitening was on point. I feel delighted with the results from just one session, even though Dr. Psaltis preferred to do a second one a week after to make my teeth a little whiter and achieve the results that he expected. I had to completely revise my review from 5 stars to 1 star. I discovered he overcharged me $740. He tried to massively overbill me, by adding procedures that didn't happen. I tried to discuss it with him but didn't want to and instead would only let me discuss money matters with his office administrator. Only after talking with my insurance company and filing a complaint was I sure that he tried to rip me off. Before that, I had believed that his invoice was truthful and accurate. Either he knows he's trying to rip people off by inflating costs and committing insurance fraud -or- he is a moron (and I doubt it's the latter). I will admit, he was a good dentist in the sense that he got the job done. He removed my wisdom teeth, and he says he did a good job. I can't even trust that he did a good job. He and his staff stuff have not admitted he has overcharged me $740. I still have not received my refund. I will revise this if he sends me back my money and offers and explanation. read more

George Psaltis has been my dentist for nearly 10 years and my teeth have never been healthier. He is meticulous about every aspect of dental care from cleanings to crowns. The staff are friendly and helpful, always. When Dr. Psaltis is working, he is focused and serious - I think some reviewers are exaggerating about an 'angry tone.' A lot of people I know have been going to this dentist for many years they have recommended me to go. I went and got three cleanings done everything was OK we could call it that. Then I have to start by doing a root canal I had to do it three times on the same tooth, she overcharging me because I called my insurance company and told them I wasn't happy with the dental work. Still till today, I'm trying to get my money back!! Wast part about it that he was making money off me and still taking money from my insurance. NOW THIS IS REALLY THE worst part is now I have to get an extraction on my tooth which was the tooth he first started working on three times. And the worst part is he accidentally cut my gum while he was drilling me and told me don't worry about it it's OK and this happened All because he was yelling at the helper who was passing him tools. He is the worst dentist I've ever had the displeasure of seeing. I've been stewing over whether or not to write a review for over a month; but given that it was based on Yelp that I went to see him (I have received a lot of great advice from yelp), I decided I should do others the service of providing a review. To be fair to Yelp, the higher rated dentists in the area were all booked two months out or over the top expensive - I guess you get what you pay for, and buyer beware when it's cheap and available on short notice: 1) Yes, he was really rude/ harsh to his assistant. 2) He was late to see me though there wasn't any in the office (other patients) perhaps there was a reason, but he didn't offer one or an apology. 3) The x-rays were terrible - they used some strange loop brace (I've never seen this before). He kept insisting that my jaw had broken, because there was a strange halo effect on the x-ray (funny it was the exact same shape as the loop). I've never had my jaw broken - I think I'd know and I think my home town dentist would have noticed it. Hummm, maybe the line was caused by the loop brace thingy that he made me hold in my mouth. The conversation was just bizarre. 4) His cleaning was subpar - I've having it redone. 5) As he was checking my teeth and yelling out notes to his assistant (about which teeth needed what) he would twist around to talk to her and because it was comfortable to him, he would exert extra pressure on my gums, then let it off as he turned back, scrapped along my gum line and went to the next tooth - I'm not sure if I can explain this right, but basically the pain was caused by his lack of care not because it was a necessary part of the process. And yes, I did ask him to let up (and not push down when was turning around) ... twice. 6) He told me how the work my dentist has done was terrible and had caused a lot of trouble - again I've seen other dentist since my home town dentist did the work and no one said this before. 7) He ordered a lot of work to be done, I kept telling him that I didn't have insurance and would need to schedule it as I could pay for it, but he insisted that I come the next week and told the assistant to book the appointment. I requested that she call me with an estimate of the cost and we schedule then. She said she would call the next day... but I never heard from them again. Which is fine, because I walked out there feeling pretty put-off, none-the-less, it's bizarre that they didn't even call to review the costs and options. My impression of Dr. Psaltis was that he was a nice guy but not a very nice dentist. A few years ago, he put a crown in my mouth which, after years of wanting to rip the thing out of my mouth, I finally had replaced this year by another dentist in the area. It was way too big (in other words it did not fit in my mouth), and the color was completely off which made it stand out in an ugly way whenever I smiled widely. In addition, the white outer layer started to peel off revealing a silvery substance so it looked like I had an untreated cavity in the crown. My new dentist is fabulous in every way; the new crown he put in my mouth to replace the piece o' crap that Dr. Psaltis put in is gorgeous. It fits right, it is the perfect size, and the color is gorgeous. In other words, it fits into my mouth perfectly and looks totally natural and beautiful--the way a crown should look and feel. Dr. Psaltis was definitely nice to me, but his work was terrible. There were a couple of other jobs I trusted him with, and they, too, did not go well at al. In fairness, I see that the "filtered" reviews contain many good ones (I don't know why Yelp takes the liberty of filtering and tossing so many legitimate reviews, and I think they should FIX their damn filter)-- so Dr. Psaltis apparently has pleased many of his patients. But I was certainly not one of them, and because his crown caused me a whole lot of frustration and annoyance until I could have it replaced, I feel justified in writing this review. read more

If there was a way to give Mr. Psaltis ZERO stars I would. He is one of the worst dentists that I have ever been to. To start, he is very rude to his assistant and kept yelling at her in a very angry tone while cleaning my teeth. At least do it in private when you are yelling at an employee. Additionally, he is professionally incompetent. I went to see him for an ordinary cleaning after noticing that my gums bled whenever I would brush my teeth. I mentioned this to him and he insisted that this was normal. While performing the cleaning, I also bled and he again said this was normal. I don't need an MD to tell me there is something wrong here, folks. So after dealing with my gums bleeding for a few more months, I decided to see another dentist. I was told that I had gum disease and that I needed to have a serious root planing and scaling done. I was told that whoever my last dentist was should have noticed this and that it would be borderline professional malpractice to not have done something. I mean, how does a dentist not know when a patient has gum disease when their gums are bleeding during a cleaning? I would tell anyone to stay away from this guy. He is not a professional and is lucky to still be in in business. STAY AWAY!!! read more

Dr. Psaltis has been my dentist for over ten years and always provides the TLC this normally nervous dental patient needs. He's gentle with the instruments (yes, he often does the cleaning himself), uses the most current technology, has a soothing voice, and he even let me use his iPod and headphones to listen to music when he saw i was panicked about getting a cavity filled. His office is also immaculate and his assistant, Kiki is great. The entire process was professional and top of the line. The initial phone call to the office was friendly and informative, they checked my insurance and got back to me right away. Think about that movie "Little Shop of Horrors," and that the sadist image has been one I always had in my mind, even while receiving a routine cleaning. It absolutely is my worst nightmare! JK Let's face it -- going to the dentist is not necessarily fun; dentists do poke and prod a sensitive area of your body. This can lead to years of simply not going to the dentist which is obviously "not a good thing." I was one of those people who had an upsetting childhood dental experience that still left lasting effects into my adulthood. After moving to New York, I was looking for a dentist who would first and foremost understand my 'fear of going to the dentist' and a dentist who was willing to work with me to increase my comfort level and develop a life long 'managed' dental health care program. After meeting Dr. Psaltis and his Staff, I soon began to realize that I was in good hands. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Psaltis and his Staff which was important to me from the start. Very simply put, if you're comfortable with your dentist you' re more likely to keep your appointments (vs. perpetually canceling -which was my typical behavior) and follow the doctor's advice for on going oral care. OK, so the office is very friendly and welcoming. Dr. Psaltis explained any/all procedures and treatments in a way I could understand and made recommendations based on my needs in simple language so that I could make informed decisions. I'm no longer that patient of years past with 'high anxiety' of going to the dentist and I am now a regular patient who actually looks forward to going to Dr. Psaltis for routine check ups, whitening and ad hoc dental procedures. The combined experience of being in a calm, relaxing and professional environment where there is mutual respect is the kind of dental care and experience that works best for me.
