I typically don't write reviews--good or bad--but I feel incredibly dissatisfied and disappointed with my experience at Dr. Vasserman's office. I was recommended to this office by someone I truly trust, as I am not originally from NYC. The office itself is nice, and Corrie is typically friendly. For a basic teeth cleaning, this place is fine. However, if you need any significant dental work, I strongly urge you to reconsider. In 2022, my teeth had shifted due to Invisalign, and I wanted to have my front tooth (tooth #8), which had a crown from a childhood injury, redone so that it aligned properly. I initially considered finding a specialist but decided to go with Dr. Vasserman--something I deeply regret. Trust your intuition--if something feels off, it probably is. When I discussed my needs with Dr. Vasserman in April 2022, he assured me it would take only a few weeks. However, after many emails and back-and-forth conversations, I was informed that it would actually take eight weeks just for the lab in Chicago to begin my case. This was a complete contradiction to what I was initially told. When the crown finally arrived months later, I was shocked. This was supposed to be from the best of the best lab, yet the tooth looked nothing like the rest of my teeth. I don't understand why he didn't use a lab in NYC where I could have been directly involved in the process. It became increasingly clear that he didn't know what he was doing when it came to cosmetic dental work. After much back-and-forth, and clear frustration from Dr. Vasserman, we eventually landed on a tooth that was "acceptable"--but by this point, it was July. Between April and July, my temporary tooth fell out multiple times, I had to go back and forth to the office countless times, and I constantly questioned my decision to have him do the work. The worst part? Any time I called for an update or to get help, it often felt like the office was avoiding me. Calls would go unanswered, and I would have to follow up multiple times just to get basic information. The lack of communication and accountability was infuriating. Fast forward to November 2024--I started experiencing severe pain and discomfort in my front tooth. The pain was unbearable, keeping me up at night and even giving me headaches. I switched dentists due to my previous experience and didn't feel comfortable returning to Dr. Vasserman. Well, turns out my instincts were right--I now have a serious infection in the tooth. The crown wasn't even cemented properly, leaving it loose and unstable. The infection has become so severe that my tooth is now unsalvageable. I have to undergo major surgery, including tooth extraction and bone grafting, because the infection has eroded my bone. Here's the most frustrating part: I have had this tooth redone three times in my life, and never--not once--have I had an issue like this until this last procedure. The fact that I trusted a dentist who clearly lacked the skill and experience for this type of work is devastating. The moral of the story? If something feels off, trust yourself. Go to a specialist. If I had listened to my gut, I wouldn't be dealing with this nightmare now. If you only need a cleaning, this place is fine. But for any serious dental work, I cannot recommend this office and would strongly advise against going here. read more

I have never had a more honest dentist in my life. I went in for a second opinion about my bridge as another dentist said I need to remove it and get an implant despite not having any pain. Dr. Vassserman used 3D pictures did X-rays and said that my bridge was still intact! His honesty saved me so much worry. Their office is gorgeous, clean and the staff are the nicest people . I can smile again. I've been Dr Vasserman patient for a couple years now and it's for a reason. He makes it's easy and painless. First, let me talk about the office. It's in a great location on the Upper East Side. It's very welcoming and well designed. No tacky dentist posters everywhere. There are TVs in the room to help you relax and any type of music you'd like to hear is available. They are extremely sanitary there as well. Secondly, his staff! Everyone that's on his staff is friendly and wonderful. I especially have the greatest admiration for Corrie. She is what you hope all customer service people would be like. Helpful. Knowledgeable. Friendly. Accurate. I love her. And of course, Dr. Vasserman. He takes the time to make your smile look like your own smile. He works with modern and up to date equipment. I especially love that he isn't looking at the clock and rushing the process. He really wants to get it right. I felt very at ease when he was replacing my crowns. At one point during the drilling process, I fell asleep and then again during another procedure. That's how at comfy I was in the dentist chair. I am extremely happy with the work Dr. Vasserman did on my smile. I feel very comfortable and confident with my new crowns. Previously I was self conscious about smiling and now I feel like I can with pride. I feel prettier. I highly recommend Dr. Vasserman to anyone who wants to upgrade their smile. I've had a lot of issues with my teeth! From cavities, broken teeth, overbite, crooked teeth, to the most painful root canals (4 to be exact, in like 3 months). Alex was there whenever needed for whatever issue I had with my teeth, day or night (literally). His bedside manners, knowledge, friendliness and kindness are out of this world! His staff and especially Corrie are people I now see as friends! Corrie was so kind to go through all of my insurance offers from my job (10 of them, 50+ pages each) to help me choose the one that would get me furthest considering the work I had planed on my teeth. I can't thank her enough for that! After all the work, 1.5 years of invisaligns, planning, taking pictures and computer simulations my next and last step is veneers and I can't wait for my complete smile makeover to be ready and visible! Dr. Vasserman, Corrie and the 2 Anna's are a top notch team! I never thought I would find a dentist as caring and professional as Dr. Vasserman here in NYC! He was recommended to me by a friend last summer when I was desperate to get my 2 front teeth fixed. I had been insecure about my discolored front tooth for the last few years as it kept getting darker by the year. My dark tooth caused me so much sadness every time I looked in the mirror or smiled for a photo. Because I don't have insurance the cost to have both front teeth replaced in NYC seemed so out of reach. Dr. Vasserman worked with my budget to get me a gorgeous new smile. He even helped me to get a 3rd tooth done as well to complete my smile. Dr. V was so reassuring that my new veneers would be absolutely perfect and that he wouldn't let me leave until I loved my new smile. He did just that! I highly highly recommend Doctor Vasserman and his office! I'm getting married next month and I wanted to see if I can fix one thing to make my smile look better for the big day, so I made an appointment with Corrie (who is so sweet and friendly) and she moved things around to fit me in within two days! Dr. Vasserman was able to accommodate me for a root canal this past January. I had just started a new job and could not see my usual dentist due to my hours. So I did a search on another engine and found him. Dr. V was very thorough, friendly and honest. When he said I would feel no pain, I didn't! I came back for my crown fitting three weeks after the RC and he was just as efficient as my first visit (he is a perfectionist which in my book is a great trait in a dentist). The porcelain crown was a perfect match in color to my other teeth. I have decided to continue seeing him for regular cleanings as long as my insurance doesn't change. An added bonus to his great service, is Dr. V's availability. He can see patients in the evenings and even on Saturdays which is a rarity in NYC. You won't be disappointed! read more

Moved back to New York after 25 years in San Francisco and had to start building my networks (medical and other) from scratch. Not easy especially in these times. Dr Vesselman was an exceptional find. Not only is his office close to my home but it is very well appointed, crisp and clean with every modern gadget plus televisions and music to keep you distracted during procedures. He is super thorough, competent and caring. His whole staff is excellent. I had a great cleaning which didn't hurt at all (my teeth are extraordinarily sensitive). Highly recommend. I first went to Dr Vasserman 7 years!! ago (im 34) through zocdoc because he was near my office after sick of same old routine & problems from my prior dentist. I will never go to another dentist. The things you care about: 1) Super gentle - no pain. The dentist stress gone with him. 2) No delays, Corrie at the front desk is on top of everything including reminders, clearing insurance, giving expectations(have seen 2 famous people seeing him). 3) Wont rip you off - super rare in NYC. 4) serious problem solver Dr Vasserman has fixed minor and major problems for me over the years. I am leaving the city but each time im back I will go to him. His creative approach to solving problems is genius, simple things that make you look and feel better you never considered (he just solves as he sees, no extra costs or appointments for each item. Could not recommend anyone more. I send all my friends and family to him. There is no comp for this review (and want nothing!), and I typically only write negative reviews. I originally went to Dr. Vasserman for Invisalign (later changed him to my primary dentist, as well). Dr. Vasserman has created a super comfortable environment where everyone feels like friends. From day 1, he made me like a priority and has made sure that my teeth are PERFECT. I've been going to Dr. Vasserman's office for about 4 years now, and I don't plan on using any other dentist. The entire staff goes above and beyond to make sure I'm comfortable both physically and psychologically (since getting work done can give me a bit of anxiety). Corrie at reception always makes me feel confident and relaxed about booking appointments and figuring out my insurance. Everything is always completely transparent and I know what to expect before and after every visit. Dr. Vasserman's work as a DMD is excellent. He is extremely thorough, gentle, and informative about every procedure I've gotten done, including a full-blown extraction and implant procedure. I no longer feel anxious getting work done because I fully trust that the experience will not only be pleasant, but totally necessary (Dr. Vasserman doesn't try to push you into getting work done unless it's necessary). Dr. Vasserman is a very accommodating dentist. He explains every step of his exam and cleaning. I personally have never seen photos of my own teeth with a mirror but using his technique we were able to further examine my teeth. He' very knowledgeable and even identified a problem I didn't even know I had - that is my teeth were clenching in a way that I was causing myself some pain when chewing gum. I found him here on Yelp and he took my MetLife insurance. It was a real pleasure to meet him and his office staff couldn't be nicer. Especially since I had to reschedule the day before my first appointment. I've really never had a dental visit quite like Dr. Vasserman's and look forward to checking out his new office once it's completed. read more

For starters, Dr. Vasserman and his staff are all just really good people -- unbelievably kind, helpful, knowledgable and flexible. As a dentist, Dr. Vasserman is very competent and conservative with his treatments. He always shows and tells you exactly what he is going to do before he does it. He also does a wonderful job of explaining the science behind his decisions and has helped me understand the problems I've experienced and his thought processes in a way that I've never experience with any other doctor. His commitment to transparency is truly second to none. He is also extremely flexible and empathetic when it comes to figuring out payment plans that work for different people. After months of paying large bills associated with major dental work, he even ended up crediting me back a portion of the work after Delta retroactively denied coverage for some of the work that he had already completed. I was blown away by his flexibility and empathy. Point is, I really can't say enough good things about Dr. Vasserman and his team. I am so grateful that I discovered Dr. Vasserman and his wonderful team when I first moved to NYC 2 years ago. I have been seeing him ever since and I cannot say enough good things about this practice. It's actually made me enjoy my trips to the dentist (which is a sentence I never expected to say). I have a tendency to get anxious about dental visits, particularly when anesthesia is needed, but Dr. Vasserman's team are so careful and gentle that I feel very safe with them, and they check in throughout the process to make sure you're ok. And the care and friendliness are consistent - I've been to see them several times now and it's always a great experience. (In fact, I just had 2 fillings done today and I am amazed, as always, at how painless - no pun intended - and precise the whole procedure was.) At my first check up, Dr. Vasserman took extra time to go over everything with me in great detail (I ask a lot of questions!). He took digital photos of my teeth in addition to my x-rays, so that he could show me exactly what he was seeing and explain all his recommendations in depth. I highly value his clear commitment to serving his patients with care and transparency. I never feel rushed by him or his team (as I have on occasion in other places), either during an appointment or when making a decision about a future procedure, and the overall approach to their work is gentle but precise. Each individual staff member is friendly, kind and patient, taking as much time as needed to make sure that they get the job done well. They really make the effort to get to know you. And little personal touches, like getting to choose what music to listen to while I'm having a cleaning, make it a very pleasant and easy experience even if, like me, going to the dentist isn't typically one of your favorite things to do. Corrie (on the front desk) is a dream to work with, she has very kindly helped me figure out my insurance paperwork as I changed plans twice since my first visit. She is always extremely friendly and wonderfully helpful, and really goes above and beyond with appointment reminders and other communication to make sure that you have all the information you need, as well as always exuding great personal warmth. I specifically chose my current dental plan so that I could continue to see Dr. Vasserman, when I changed my insurance recently. I can't recommend him and his practice enough and the last time I was there, it was such a great experience that I made a post on Facebook telling everyone that they should see him for their next dental visit. Needless to say my friends thought I was crazy but I stand by that sentiment. Dr. Alex is by far the best dentist I have ever been to. For someone who has had many teeth issues my whole life, I should know. Dr. Alex helped walk me through the process for a tooth replacement. He was super knowledgable and took his time explaining the situation to me. He even drew me pictures to help me understand it better! I felt like an actual patient in his office and not just a number. He is a genuine guy and gives his patients the best care! I will forever be a patient and have already referred many of my friends. If you need a dentist, he is your guy! Plus his office has the most beautiful view from the dental chair! Honestly, there's not much to say about Dr. Vasserman that isn't positive: getting an appointment was simple (I was able to get in for a cleaning as a new patient within a week), Corrie really understands the ins and outs of insurance and works closely with you so you also understand what is and isn't covered, and the two Anna's are fantastic--friendly and thorough. Dr. Vasserman himself has great bedside manor, really taking the time to talk through what he sees as potential problems, distinguishing between immediate concerns and things to keep an eye on; it's clear he isn't looking for ways to get you pay money for unnecessary procedures and/or appliances, which is a welcome relief in this city. Lastly, the office is beautiful--which I know may not be the most important detail, but I find the attention a dentist or a dr gives to the office reflects the attention they will give to their patients. I was distressed when my orthodontist told me that I had to extract some of my teeth. As a foreign student I am not familiar with dental offices in NYC and, everything seemed scary to me. However, Dr. Vasserman and his staff members turned my worry into one of the most pleasurable experience I had over here. Dr. Vasserman is very passionate and truly cares about his patients. He always welcomes questions and explains them well until I really understand. Besides his great personality, his work was quite impressive. He extracted 6 teeth of mine and, I never imagined the whole process would be that easy. Also, he provided me with some extra work for free of charge and, I couldn't be happier about that. Moreover, I really like the fact that everyone in his office is welcoming and smiling. They make me feel that I'm in the right place, which rarely occurs to me. Corrie was so welcoming and made sure all of my concerns expressed on my initial phone call for an appointment were relayed to Dr. Vasserman. As a result my visit went very smoothly.
