We used George to install chimney caps on our new home. When his guys came we also talked to them about installing a gas log set, not really realizing they could also do this type of work. George spent a lot of time emailing back and forth with us, helping us choose the best log set and setup for our needs. When it arrived George inspected it closely before installing it. From when we placed the order until he installed it, was only about 10 days in the winter season, so I would consider this really fast service. George and one of his guys came and installed and we couldn't be happier with the result. I didn't want a remote but George kindly advised that I could adjust the flame level this way and I'm glad I listened to him! That day I found George The Chimney Guy on yelp, he came the next day, unblocked the chimney, left the area cleaner then when he arrived and charged us a very fair price (much lower than we anticipated), PSE&G restored our gas service. George was honest, fair and knowledgeable and discussed several options for lining the chimney. So when it came to to have a liner put in our chimney and some external chimney work we knew exactly where to go. I recently received a home inspection report from a buyer I was selling my house to and was requested to make some chimney repairs. The company that prepared the inspection for the buyer wrote up a quote I felt may have been high and for some unnecessary work. Absolutely great service! We called because of a concern of a blockage that was causing carbon monoxide leakage. They came that very day. The two young men were very professional. They explained their findings in easy to understand comments. I heard of horror stories of chimney guys lying and saying there's a blockage and charging hundreds to get things fixed unnecessarily. I have been in the chimney industry for 40 years and have seen every trick in the game, if you will. A dear friend of mine had to deal with the sale of her parent's home in Leonia, while being located in Ca. A chimney inspection was done by the buyer and though the findings were not incorrect, it was obvious to me that the only repair option provided was the worst case scenario at great expense. I did some research and found George's website, had a lengthy discussion with him during his off time and concluded George was our man, based on his technical expertise along with his obvious sense of doing right by people. Honesty & quality work appear to be a lost art lately however George Hamway has both! What an incredible experience we had working with him. Like a breath of fresh air so to speak. Originally, we called to get an estimate for a chimney cleaning. He came over, analyzed the situation & gave a very fair price. About $100 less than the other estimate. But we loved his sincerity & kindness so when we had a bigger issue after with our furnace we called George The Chimney Guy again. We kept loosing heat & the pilot light kept going out. PSEG came by several times. You see, we were told we needed to replace it and that it would cost thousands! George took time out of his busy schedule to come over and analyze the problem. He looked at it and discovered the problem was the pipe was ground level & was getting saturated by the ground (we live on a hill & get running water in the ground). He sealed the hole and raised the pipe just about ground level and solved the problem!! He and his assistant did this all in 1 morning so I didn't have to take a full day of work. They cleaned up quickly & efficiently and the cost was a FRACTION of what the others charged. George is truly one of a kind. Not only did he find a unique solution but he saved us thousands (of dollars & headaches). He is kind, Very honest and does amazing work!!
