I cannot say enough wonderful things about this dental office. After a recent fall accident where I broke my teeth, we called the office's emergency line even though the office was closed for the holidays. Without hesitation, Dr. Wong and Dr. Wu responded and kindly opened the office to see me the very next day. They used their state-of-the-art, innovative equipment to take X-rays, carefully evaluate my injuries, and make sure there were no fractures. Their professionalism and expertise were immediately evident they truly know exactly what they are doing. The care I received was thoughtful, precise, and reassuring. Within just a couple of hours, Dr. Wu handed me the mirror and my teeth were restored. I immediately cried tears of relief and gratitude. Every single staff in the office was incredibly professional, kind and compassionate. I was met with reassurance, warmth, and even hugs, all reminding me that everything was going to be okay. That level of care means more than words can express. My family has been coming to this dental office since the early 2000s. My siblings, our children everyone goes here. We would never leave. They are a truly personal, family-oriented practice: a husband-and-wife team with an amazing staff who genuinely treat you like family. My son has been coming here since he was in preschool. He is now a young adult and has moved out of the area, yet he still drives all the way from San Jose for his dental care because he refuses to go anywhere else. I am beyond grateful to Dr. Wu for taking care of my last-minute emergency right before NYE and helping me start the new year feeling whole again. I've entrusted my and my sons' dental care to Dr. Grace Wu for more than 15 years now. My sons are now out of college, and I have moved out of Danville to the Bay side of the hills, yet I still come back to San Ramon for my cleanings and to catch up with my favorite dentists and their wonderful and efficient staff! I cannot believe I haven't reviewed them until now, but felt compelled today as I sit in their lobby having just arrived early for my cleaning. read more

If I can give this office receptionist 1 star, I would. I went to the office once previously, and the visit was fine. The visit this time was fine too. The doctors are great, but not the receptionist/ office managers. However, we had a change of insurance that we did notify the office when we made the appointment over the phone, the receptionist said yes, we do take your insurance and just bring it when you arrived the office. Fast forward to the day of appointment, when we arrived in the clinic, we were being rushed into the rooms before we even presented our insurance cards. After finishing the dental cleansing and coming out from the room, we then were told the office did not take the insurance. If we knew that the office did not take the insurance, I would not have came to this office all the way from Union City to San Ramon. They charged us each $238, then did offer some discount which is still outrageous since we expected it to be free/ at most $20 copay. Avoid this office or make sure they do take your insurance before starting any procedures. Or you may end up with crazy bill. read more

These two dentists are the best. They are not just the most gentle doctors I know they are good people. I have had fillings, cleanings and a crown here. All have been done professionally and timely. They treat their scope and refer for procedures if necessary. I reccomend these two dentists highly bc I trust them. But they have gotten busier in the past few years .... Too much success. People are finding out about them. The staff follows the lead and are welcoming and friendly. They do their job with an extra trust and knowledge that these doctors know their craft. I recently had to have a root canal. The root canal itself was handled by Dr. Phan in Pleasanton and I had an unbelievable experience, she was great. I had to however, return to Dr. Wu for the crown and post work. The work itself was fine. Before deciding on whether or not to order a crown this year since I've had lots of work done, Dr. Wu had one of her staff check the amount that was remaining on my insurance and how much it would cover, she said, "Looks like you would only need to pay about $160 or so." Since I thought that was suitable, I went ahead and had my crown ordered. Please make sure if you go see Dr. Wu that you have everything written down in terms of estimated costs, I left the office with a $400 something bill! I am disappointed that I did not think of having them write the amount before I had the rest of the procedure done. But, I am also disappointed in the staff. I will not be returning. read more

Wow! Talk about a power couple - Dr. Grace Wu and Dr. George Wong are the Michelle and Barack Obama of dentistry. I've been seeing Dr. Wu for a little over a year now and every visit has been a positive one. Walking into the office is like walking into a day spa. They have beverages ready for you and the receptionist is always cheerful and conversational. If you have to wait (maximum five minutes!), they always have a movie playing on the TV or you can take your pick from their vast selections of magazines. The journey only gets better once you get seated in the fancy, high-end dental chair, which doubles as a massage chair (I kid you not). The dental experience is further enhanced when you're asked to pick a movie or TV show to watch as Dr.Wu/Wong works on your teeth. So there you are, reclined on a massage chair, watching the latest blockbuster hit, and having your teeth worked on (pain-free!). And while you're at it, feel free to ask questions or voice any concerns. Dr. Wu is very pleasant to talk to and she walked me step-by-step when I got my root canal earlier this year. She was able to make a root canal feel like a walk in the park! I have always been dreadfully afraid of dentists, so you can only imagine how ironic it is that I now get as excited as a giddy girl on her first day of school when I know my next check-up is around the corner. Overall, if you want quality service done by dentists you can trust, this is the place to go! read more

I dont usually like dentists but i actually REALLY enjoy my time at this office. I'e already gone four times for various procedures and it is a pleasure all the time. First off, they have the best staff ever. Hands down. Everyone is always happy and kind (even at 9am in the morning). Also, Im one of those people who want to know what is going on inside my mouths, and both dentists tell you what they are doing as they do it. (I have seen both doctors) And its great that Dr Wong is hilarious! He was making my laugh during my crown! Dr Wu and Dr Wong are incredible dentists! Second, their office is so clean and modern and you get to watch movies while they are working on you. The atmosphere they have created really shows that they take great pride in their work. I really cannot say enough about Dr. George Wong. My husband I have been seeing him for a number of years now (after several moves up and down the coast of CA) he is, hands down, the BEST dentist we've ever had. I have to move once again this year, and he will be the doctor I loathe to replace! I've had mainly routine work done (cavities, etc.). I came to him after seeing a dentist who talked me into Invisalign. Dr. Wong confirmed what I had suspected, that I was not a candidate at all for it. So, he removed the tabs on my teeth and we talked about what we could do. I have always wanted veneers and he took mold of my teeth, mocked up what they would look like when done, and never once pressured me into continuing with the VERY expensive procedure. He reminded me that he understood the economy was difficult for many (we'd been hit with a huge tax bill) and that he'd always be there, no pressure, no hurry. What a relief!!! It's just his honest nature. Years ago my son chipped a tooth and I phoned his office. After I didn't call him right back Dr. Wong continued to call me (we were on vacation) throughout the weekend. It's just the kind of person he is -- caring!!! Over the years Dr. Wong has been so attentive to my teeth and my own vanity ;) After we decided the veneers would be on hold, he shaped my teeth and now I feel so comfortable with them. He never ever tacks anything onto the bill and I always leave feeling like he just did me a huge favor ($$$), which I'm positive he has. He is a wonderful dentist and I highly recommend him. Since I was pregnant he always briefed me on how to care for my children's teeth, what to do in an emergency and always made me feel he would be there for us in a bind (which he was). My first visit to this office. The necessary work to take care of my teeth was explained completely. Dr Grace Wu was thorough in her work with me as was her highly skilled assistant. The latest in technology was used to scan the tooth for the building of a crown... it fit perfectly! All the other comments about the friendly office staff, the amenities in the waiting room (never waited more than 5 minutes) as well as the description of the dental chair is correct ... very comfortable setting. This was probably the most professional and personal an experience as I have ever had in my life. Dental work is not cheap; their fees, however, are far less than I thought they would be considering the work I needed. They have used technology and highly efficient processes to work efficiently and keep costs down. A great experience! read more

As I used yelp reviews to pick this dentist I feel that it is only fair for me to share my experience to help others in my same situation. I have disliked the dentist for years. Came into some bad ones, had painful treatments, etc. After waiting much too long I knew that it was time to get a cleaning and an old crown fixed. From the first moment that I called this office to see if they accepted my insurance I was so impressed. The friendly voice on the other end made making an dentist appointment the highlight of my day. I arrived for my appointment to find a beautiful and clean office and welcoming employees. I was offered water and the option of movies or music. I needed x-rays and these were the quickest and least painful I have ever experienced. Just a few minutes later I was greeted by Dr. Wu who not only explained my x-rays but put them up on the screen for me to follow along. She calmed all my fears and gave me the status of my mouth in kind, professional, honest terms. I then had my teeth cleaned and polished all while relaxing to soft music. A few days later I returned to have a filling replaced and the whole appointment took 30 minutes from start to finish. I walked away happy and pain free from the whole experience. I can honestly say that I would never think that having a filling would be this relaxing. They took care of all my insurance needs and are on time for their appointments which are two things that I think are very valuable yet hard to find. George Wong and Grace Wu have a highly professional approach and a truly lovely office. The equipment is state of the art, plush, and comfortable. You can even get a massage in the dental chair. However those are lovely extras, but the real value is in the high quality of dental care they offer. I went to George for my first visit in January 07. He was definitely the best dentist I have ever been to. Extraordinarily knowledgeable and able to help solve a problem regarding a crown that has been plaguing me for six years and through two other dentists. I also happen to know that George is highly overqualified. His training includes a fellowship in Maxillofacial Surgery at Sloan-Kettering Hospital in New York City, a nationally recognized hospital for leading-edge cancer treatments. George gave all that up to practice general dentistry, which he has been doing for many years prior in Redwood City. And aren't we lucky to have such a qualified dentist. I drove from San Francisco for my appointment and I will continue to do so. read more

The person who gave Doc Wong less than 5 stars is crazy. Doc Wong's practice is exceptional. I have been to several dentists and Doc Wong was the only dentist who was able to solve my dental problem. He is smart, caring and a very strong communicator. He will sit next to you and explain the entire procedure. During the procedure he will constantly ask you how you are doing...and he will FIX the problem. He takes insurance and you will know exactly how much will be covered before he starts! I agree, this IS the best dentist office ever. I was welcomed (by name) from Heidi the friendly office manager. She kept my paperwork simple for me and after my cleaning she even helped provide an estimate for getting my wisdom teeth pulled (yikes). Once I walked through the office doors I could tell that this was going to be a different experience than anything I'd been to before. Once you walk in, you realize all of the extra perks that makes this place so unique. There are personal jukeboxes, this month's magazines on the coffee table and a flat screen TV playing the latest movies - sitting in front of the couches. Once inside, I was once again awed at the ease of the x-ray machine - which pulls right out of the wall, in the same room that you get your cleaning. They put me in a reclining chair that massaged my back! Better yet, they flipped on the flat screen and asked me which movie I wanted to watch. HUH? Dentist offices have flat screen TVs perched above your dental chair? YES, this one does! I watched The Guardian with Kevin Costner and Ashton K. It was great, my cleaning was so gentle I wanted to stay in the massaging chair and finish the end of the movie... seriously I could have fallen asleep it was so relaxing. But onto the important part, which is the technique and professionalism of the staff. Dr. Wong was gentle, and took the time to explain everything he was going to be doing. He went over the equipment before he went to work. He communicated throughout the process and really it was the best and easiest cleaning I've ever had. I highly recommend this place... especially to families. Seriously, bring the kids, they will not be turned off by dentist trips at this place. read more

Dr. Wong has exceeded my expectations in every way. I have been dealing with an unknown chronic illness for the past 4 years and he has been the only doctor who has been by my side through it all. I have gone through many doctors who have been stumped by my case and given up, but he is constantly checking up on me and answering my questions. It is so hard to find a doctor who genuinely cares about their patients and Dr. Wong is the most thoughtful and empathetic person that I have worked with. One of my veneers cracked which I got from another dentist. I went to see him, He looked at it and told me come back after a week to get a new veneer then he rushed to another patient and left me untreated. But I couldn't eat with a broken veneer since it's too sensitive. I suffered for 2 days, then I decided to go see another dentist. Finally I found this office was able to squeeze me in on the same day. Dr. Kim, my life saver! He answered all my questions, and glued my veneer back in 20 minuets, it looks like new again! No more pain and I can go back to my normal life again. read more

Drs. Wong and Wu have an excellent practice based on strong expertise in dentistry and wonderful patient care. I have seen Dr. Wong for a number of dental issues and have a great deal of confidence in his abilities. For example, he diagnosed a tooth abscess from a root canal performed by my previous dentist 2 years ago which had been causing me persistent discomfort. After this was taken care of, the discomfort went away entirely. Just as importantly, their facilities are top-notch, with modern equipment and excellent hygienic technologies. Plus, the patient-oriented amenities such as movies and massage chairs indicate that they value the comfort of their patients. I had my first vist at GW2Dental on November 10, 2007. As I walked in, I already felt at home. Interior of the office looked appealing. Very stylish and had a lot of high tech touches to it. Their staff was very professional and welcoming. As I was seated, I was offered variety of movie selections to watch while I got my teeth cleaned.(That was pretty awesome!) And to top it off...I got a massage throughout my teeth cleaning! (Massage dental chairs!) Dr. George Wong cleaned my teeth. First impression of him was an A+. Ive been to three dentist in my life, one was from when I was a child. I would of continued to stay at my other dentist if I had not moved away, in which I did for years after until I came here. The place is great, the staff is very friendly, and the doctors are awesome! Cant say enough. Dr Wong and Wu are very friendly and take the time out to really listen to your concerns. They are very thorough and gentle in all their procedures. My daughter loves them as well. I tried to pull out her loose tooth (that was hanging there) and she wouldnt. Once she saw Dr Wu and showed her, Dr Wu said lets take that out with "sleepy medicine for the tooth" My daughter was all for it and the tooth fairy came later that night. One dentist is in our insurance network, the other is not. When they bill our insurance, they bill some members of our family with one dentist and other members of our family with the other dentist. We only see the dentist in our network. Seems like a shady deal. Last time I was in to see Dr. Wu, she was coughing non-stop during my cleaning. Although she was wearing a face mask, I ended up being sick the next day and for 2 weeks after that. I rarely get sick. Dental office is not kid-friendly at all. read more

As background I only went to three appointments at this dentist office. 1. The reviews about the atmosphere are spot on. They have very luxurious accommodations and the massage chair is cool too. 2. The service is pretty good too. The receptionist is very friendly and greeted me by name when I entered -- impressive. 3. One of the three appointments I had was to get teeth whitening trays. Dr. Wong was very skilled in this process. He asked me if I'd had molds made of my teeth before, and I responded yes (from the days when I had braces). Then he asked me if I remember having a gag reflex when those were done and I said yes. He guided me through the whole teeth mold process and positioned me so that I didn't have that gag reflex... very impressive. 4. Now for the most important part in my mind. The usual 6 month teeth cleaning appointments. My husband and I both went for two cleanings each over the span of a year, and we both felt like they were rushing through the process. The first time around, we both thought it was because our appointments were towards the end of day, but the second time around we felt the same rush. We didn't feel like it was the best teeth cleaning and they didn't even floss at the end, which is something that I've always had at previous dentists. I was disappointed by this. 5. I had Dr. Wu for one appointment, and while I'm sure she is a very friendly and good person, her tone did make me feel uncomfortable when discussing my oral health -- to me her tone sounded condescending. Now perhaps I am more sensitive about discussing my teeth than others, but nonetheless this is the impression I got. So, all in all, while my points 1-3 are all positive and it's always fun to be in the midst of luxury. The most important things to me when visiting the dentist are the basics the quality of the six month cleaning and my comfort level with the dentist. I was not satisfied with these two things and decided to leave the lap of luxury to find a dentist who met my basic qualifications. read more

I have not yet found a dentist that I like since moving to the bay area. It is important for me to like my dentist bc going to the dentist is not necessarily a pleasant experience. Well, I wanted to find something close to home and came across the review on yelp. Unfortunately, I did not receive the great customer service everyone else has. First, they screwed up my appt and had to call me to ask me when my appt was. Shouldn't they keep track of that? The day of my appt the receptionist was friendly enough. My appt was with Dr. Wu, she had a passive aggressive personality and was subtly sassy. I was like WTF?, is she having a bad day? I gave my entire experience the benefit of the doubt considering all the rave reviews from the other yelpers. During my follow up appt, the receptionist couldn't find me in the schedule, even though they had called me earlier in the week for a confirmation. Okay, am I just tripping bc I'm beginning to think this dentist office does not know what they are doing. Dr. Wong seemed friendly but he also was passive aggressive. Is it me? Do they not want my kind in their office because I am not Chinese nor white? I am really not sure. I gave this place 2 stars bc it is very clean, modern, and you can watch a movie while getting your teeth cleaned. If only the staff measured up to their surroundings. read more

Dr Wong to the rescue! I had some bad dental work work done in the city and it was worth every mile of travel to come have G2W correct it for me. A consummate professional, George offered me the least invasive solution, was gentle, and explained the biological mechanisms involved in a clear and simple way. I became a patient of GW2 Dental because of all the great Yelp reviews so after a few visits I thought I should add my review too. I agree with all the reviewers, this is a great dental office. It only got 4 stars instead of 5 cause I think one of the perks of going to the dentist should be getting high off the laughing gas and they don't offer that here. :-) Even so, the lounge/ waiting room and overall service level is really great. I love that they always know who you are because they keep a digital picture stored in your profile. They are also completely paperless which is nice. The dentists are very skilled and seem to be really compassionate people who make you feel very comfortable calling them on their cell phones if you have any discomfort after treatment. The massage chairs and movies during treatment is one of the other big reasons I keep coming back. I got turned on to the whole 'Spa Dentistry' thing a few years ago when I had a horrible tooth ache while on a business trip in Dallas. I was so pleasantly surprised when I walked into their waiting room and saw velvet lounge chairs and candles and I found myself laughing at Sleepless in Seattle while the dentist was drilling my teeth (see the benefit of laughing gas!). For a number of years after, I actually scheduled my yearly cleanings around trips to the Dallas area just to visit this particular dentist. After I quit that job though I had to find a new local dentist and I'm very happy with GW2! I know this sounds weird, but make sure to use the bathroom while you're there. They have a custom sink that is really cool. read more

This is by far the BEST dental place ever! I have been to many dentists and had some horrible experiences and good experiences but this was the best by far. The office is gorgeous, modern, and hosts a variety of things such a juice bar, music station, wireless internet, flat screen hdtv, etc... Everyone is super nice and so is Dr. George Wong. He is fabulous. Very thorough, gentle, nice, and explains everything he is doing. The cleaning was pain free as they use a water based treatment for cleaning. They have the best that technology has to offer throughout this office and it shows that he spared no expense on anything. The best part is that his personality is just as great as the atmosphere and everyone makes you feel right at home and comfy. This is the best of the best as far as dentist offices go! read more
