Brought my Ford Fiesta here for a body repair after hitting a deer. When I first came in for an estimate I couldn't open my passenger door. They gave me a fair estimate for parts and labor, and they also pulled the dents out of my car so I could open my door free of charge. They did an exceptional job repairing my vehicle and it looks brand new. Additionally, my car was messy when I dropped it off to them and when I got my car back, my car was immaculately clean! Wiped down the interior, vacuumed all the crud from my carpets, and cleaned my windows. They are an obvious choice for excellent service. read more

Second time the body shop has saved my day! A few years back my transit through the area found me with four barely capable boat tires and George's replaced them in a flash and I was on my way again. This time on December 17, I experienced a two flat tire disaster while transporting my new tractor on the three axle gooseneck trailer. I called and spoke with Lance (owner) he sent out Logan with the big truck. We moved a tire to get two wheels on each side and limped the trailer and tractor to the shop. We couldn't get the tires right away but were able to source them the next day. Decided to go with all six tires and a new wheel. I was ready to leave my tractor there until repaired, but Lance offered his equipment trailer for us to get to Drummond Island. Wow, this type customer service is above and beyond. We are convinced that we will use their services going forward for all our repairs. I highly recommend George's for any service needs! After reading the reviews claiming quick $10 cost to repair a tire, my $80.00 for a 10 minute tire repair at 7:30 am on a Monday morning is taking unfair advantage of an out of state customer. The shop was very quick to make the repair. I pulled in to the garage. Without removing the tire from the car the technician had me drive slowly until he found a spot that may be a leak. The leak was located at the site of a previous patch/plug. A soap test confirmed the leak. The tech claimed the leak was right next to the existing plug. The tech punched a new hole in the tire and installed another plug. In and oout of the shop in 10 minutes. However 10 hours later the tire was low on air again. I kept adding air to the tire every 12 hours until I got home. My mechanic said the original plug was leaking again but could not repair it because the plug next to it installed by George's Body shop was too close to the original plug. The result is $400 to replace two tires. Not a good experience in the UP of Michigan. A side Note: there was no tire repair shops open for business on the weekend in the UP. We drove for over 100 miles looking for a place to make the repair. AAA could not locate a location to make the repair. We had to wake until Monday morning. read more

We took a vacation to Mackinaw for the week. While going over the bridge, we heard a noise under the car. We took the car to George's and everyone there was so helpful and kind. Chris worked with us and within a few days we were able to get a new transmission put in our truck. They moved some things around and even came to get us at the campground to help us get home. Our car broke down at hour 7 of our 10 hour road trip just as we paid for the toll at the Mackinaw Bridge. We were able to coast into the Welcome Centre where we spoke with the people at the Information Desk. George's Towing/Body Shop was one of the names given to us. From the young man who came to tow us to the Receptionist and Chris at George's Body Shop, the whole team was respectful, courtesous and friendly. Unfortunately it was our alternator the finally died on our 2012 GMC Acadia. I have to say the whole staff that we encountered at George's Body Shop helped us out: to diagnosing the problem, ordering the part, recommending a restaurant (Driftwood motel & restaurant - the food/service were explempary); to driving us to and picking us up the next day. A unpleasant delay was made better by Chris and the rest of the team at George's Body Shop. We were back on the road the next day by early afternoon. Thank you! Hope never to break down in the St. Ignace Michigan area again but if we do, we know who can help us out. Thank you again. read more

Like so many others say, George's saved my vacation! We were on our way to Tahquamenon Falls State Park on a Saturday when the tow vehicle alternator decided to take a crap. Luckily the battery kept me powered over the bridge (I don't fancy being "that guy" on the news), and we limped into Straits State Park instead. Come Monday, George's (via AAA) showed up at my site with a battery booster, and we drove the truck the short distance to their shop. They received the replacement alternator that afternoon, and had it back in my hands just before closing time. Price was just what it should have been, and the counter staff were quite knowledgable about everything too (I'm betting they were mechanics themselves). Fair, honest, fast. These would be my go-to guys if I lived near St. Ignace. read more

When traveling on vacation in the U.P my car engine blew. I brought my car to Georges Body Shop as there weren't a ton of options and had heard from some locals that they did good work and were not sleaze bags trying to rip you off. My interactions with everyone at the shop was professional and cordial. This shop was clearly very busy. Most of my interaction was with the owner Lance. He was straight forward and honest. I never felt like they were trying to charge me inappropriately. The work done was solid and now I have my car back in great shape. Honestly it's running better than it did before. There is always a silver lining to things that happen and mine was that my car broke down close to this shop. The work done was awesome. Over the summer, we took the Lake Michigan circle tour from Chicago. I ended up in st ignace. After going to dinner on a Thursday night, returning to the car, I noticed the undercarriage was hanging under the engine, scraping the ground. I guess I had hit a pothole or something on the way up and the clips had fallen off. I had no idea how serious this was - whether I should head straight back home. On Friday morning, I called the shop, they saw the car right away, clipped the carriage back up and we were back on the road. The shop didn't charge me anything. Zero, zip, nada!! I was desperate and they easily coulda taken advantage. They did a good job!! More importantly, everyone was nice and friendly. They all had great, fun t-shirts on - a great crew. Thank you. I was visiting Mackinac Island. My cars low pressure tire light came on the second night, thought it was just temperature drop...turns out I had a nail in the tire. This shop identified the issue right away and got me going on my way. Facility was clean and open. Didn't feel cramped as you usually do at shops. Wait wasn't long, about 30 mins. I'm glad they were able to identify the issue , God knows I wouldn't know what to do on the road with a flat tire and bad cellular signal. My wife and I were stranded in our van in a steady rain with a very ill dog in Moran, Michigan and called AAA for help. Lance (owner of George's) responded within 30 minutes in a tow truck. After telling him that we were headed north to Sault St. Marie to see a vet, he made a call to his vet in St. Ignace and persuaded them to see our pup. Lance took us (van and all) to the vet and waited while the doctor attended to our dog in the van on the flatbed! Then, he took us to the repair shop where they were slammed with business but managed to squeeze us in. Although our vehicle couldn't be fixed that day, Lance dropped us off at our cabin at the end of the day and promised that our vehicle would be fixed the next day. It WAS fixed the next day and then he made a trip to pick us up at the cabin and take us back to the shop 20 minutes away! This kind of service is virtually unheard of these days. We could not be more grateful. Professional, competent, compassionate, trustworthy, and reliable....what more could you ask of a friend, let alone a complete stranger! We pulled our travel trailer to the UP in July of 2017 with our old Ford F150. We got to our campsite and had a great time - until we blew a brake line and lost our truck brakes. We nursed the truck over to Georges. We got an early appointment. They diagnosed the problem fast, got the parts and fixed the problem perfectly. Their rates were competitive and we got in and out in a few hours. Down town St. Ignace is not too far of a walk away so we had breakfast and walked around town. When traveling in the UP I had car electrical problem on a Sunday Afternoon. State Farm arranged for the tow truck from this company to get me and they had a great response time for being on a Sunday Afternoon. They then evaluated my car mid-morning on Monday would have worked on it that morning if the parts had been available. Since the parts were not in stock they ordered them and had my car ready for me by Noon on Tuesday. Originally, I wasn't going to be able to make it to them by their 4:30pm closing and one of the office workers was going to stay a little after to allow me to pick up my car (I did end up making it by their closing time). Considering my unexpected situation, the team at George's helped make the best of getting me back on the road again in timely manner.
