This is a super solid diner in the Westchester Square area. I went here once with some of my friends and had no idea of this diner. It's relatively very financially friendly with a pretty large portion size. The first time I went, I got the Lumberjack ($8-$10) which included two pancakes, two eggs and my choice of ham, sausage or bacon. I opted for the sausage and two halved sausage links came out with my order. I wasn't able to finish my order and took maybe around half of it home. So it's a very good price for the amount of food you get as well. The second time that I went, I knew that the Lumberjack was too much from the previous time that I went so I got the golden pancakes (said 3 pancakes on the menu, but only two came out with the order, but they are very big so it was fine) with sausage links ($7.75) and this time I was almost able to finish, but still had some leftovers. The pancakes are really fluffy and buttery and the sausages are also perfect little breakfast sausages that aren't too dried out despite being cut in half to cook faster. I've only tried the breakfast menu items and only two so far, but I'm interested to try other items and to branch out sometime! read more

I hate to do this. George's has lost its luster. This place was once great now it's not even good. I was told the old man George sold it last year. I started noticing the quantity of the food and the price hike last year and didn't want to believe it. Just placed an order this morning and not only was it expensive but the food was non-existent. Back then the old man would give cheesecake on the house, free hot chocolate and ice cream. He was always good with children and it made you go there more. Now its a damn shame what this place has turned into. read more

I was told about this place about a year ago by a co-worker. I completely forgot about it though, until recently. Hubby and I came here for late breakfast! As soon as we walked in everyone was friendly. We picked a booth and was greeted promptly. This place is busy busy and the day we went the AC wasn't up to par but we didnt mind. I can tell by the way they greeted people that they have a lot of regulars here. It's always good to find a place where the staff remembers who you are or calls you by your name. Coffee was good and food was also good. Overall great first experience and since its not that far of a drive from us we will be coming back here.. I know what constitutes as acceptable diner food varies from person to person. The unfortunate reality is that George's Diner is neither fine dining OR just perfectly acceptable dining. This is only from my experience with my S.O. but the entirety of our outing left much to be desired: - The food (Scrambled eggs w. waffles & sausage + George's Special) came out at separate times. How can this be when only 2 people ordered two plates!? - The eggs, home fries, pancakes, and french toast were *disappointingly bland*. - The medium/hard eggs came out easy and the home fries were just unfortunate. Both items were sent back to cook more. - Despite being the first thing served, the scrambled eggs and waffles were somehow cold. - And may I add, who in the world likes their food served at 4 DIFFERENT INTERVALS. We ordered two plates of food! Just two! **On a separate very personal note: Aunt Jemima syrup bottles straight on the table??? I get not all diners carry real maple syrup cuz that junk is expensive BUT lie to me in the back and put it in a pretty saucer or keep it in an undiscernable container on the table** Pros: plentiful food and reasonable cost. Some minor improvements and this place could be amazing, but right now I wouldn't call it worth the trip. Especially since we came 40mins out of our house on a cold ass day to eat at this highly rated establishment. Had a late night snack attack and went to good ole George's on the corner of Crosby and Westchester ave. the food is always solid here and comforting. So here's the run down, grilled cheese, bacon and tomato sandwich ( my guilty pleasure) was grilled to perfection, gooey goodness. The Brisket was tender, flavorful and was plentiful! Loved my chicken matza ball soup, better than Bens Deli in Queens, but the onion soup was lacking with a very bland, watery stock. Ps never, never order wine in a diner. Not only was it a cheap bitter Sauvignon blanc, but it tasted like it had been opened and left for a week. The service is not like it was. They are under new owners. Most of the waitresses had left. Was there about 2 weeks ago breakfast was one of the worse my friend and I had,given the fact that for years we have been going there. We complained about the beacon how terrible it was and the the breakfast in general they still charged us for the full price. This is the best place to sit down and hangout. I admire the ambiance of the place. It feels like home. The multicolored lights entranced me to try out their Belgium waffle. I got the works-with all the fruits added on top! I also had to order a side of coleslaw because, duh, delicious. I personally do not eat meat and very rarely have eggs. But, I do not like syrup so I wanted a little something special wet. Restrooms were clean. Their television had Bob Ross playing-win! Service was attentive. Wanted to try something new in our neighborhood, we stumbled upon George's from the help of many many good yelp reviews. We were really hungry as we haven't eaten and it was approaching 3 in the afternoon. Were seated quickly and ordered a bowl of chicken soup, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, chicken quesadilla, bacon cheeseburger and a chicken parmesan. One thing that attracted us to George's was the many reviews on their portion size. We were sure full and left with a doggy bag each. Service was awesome and food came out really fast. Just a bit disappointed with the tasteless chicken soup and the chicken parm. Hubby liked his bacon cheeseburger. George is the best!! I've been there twice and after the first time, he treats you like you're his #1 customer! We came in on the second day and it was soooo busy. There was only 1 little table near the counter so we just settled b/c we weren't going anywhere else. As soon as he saw us sit down, he rushed over and said he'd get us a table before our food was out. He sat us down in a booth and made sure our waitress was on top of her game. I love George's. Every time I've been, the food comes out quickly and cooked to order. They have some of the best lemonade I have ever had! The food is very good. I've tried various items on the menu and have enjoyed them all. The wait staff is also excellent! They're always so friendly and it seems that they enjoy working there. The server was all over the place, they gave me the wrong order. I asked my eggs for over medium and it was well. Very dissatisfied. The server never came to our table once to check on us. They should have read the order back to avoid confusion. It's a shame because the food look so good. The cups they gave us our coffee in was dirty as well and they looked annoyed when I told them they got my order wrong and it was the servers fault. Will not be back. They need to pay attention more to the guest but they were running around like chicken with there heads cut off. read more

Great little gem in the BX. I can officially see why the lines are outside the door sometimes. Great friendly and fast service and the food was delicious. I had some of the best pancakes I ever had in my life here. They are monstrous in size and their sausages are slamming also. What I really loved about this establishment is that the employees have a great relationship with their customers. You can tell alot of the people that come here are regulars and even if you're not you're still being treated like you are a guest in someone's house.
