We had lunch here on a Friday and the patio was packed happy customers enjoying their food and beautiful view of the river. The menu offers great variety of Greek cuisine and is split into lunch and dinner menu. We ordered "Saganaki" for appetizer and "Kebob Combo" and "Octopus Dinner" for main. We also enough the complimentary Greek Salad served with Garlic Bread. Dinner menu is served with the sides of potatoes, salad and rice and the portions are generous. We replaced potatoes and rice with cooked vegetables. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. For dessert, we ordered the delicious "Baklava Sundae" and enjoyed Greek Baklava with vanilla ice cream. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. The staff are friendly, especially George made our lunch memorable. read more

Stopped in Sunday evening for takeout. We were in town for a ball hockey tournament and I wanted a good meal not fast food. I walked in placed an order at the register and it was ready within 5 minutes. I tried the lamb souvlaki sandwich with a side of potatoes. The sandwich was good but I was expecting something more filling, it was a little thin and unfortunately got soggy on my 10 mins drive back to the rink. The potatoes while way bigger than I was anticipating were tasty. I should have gotten a piece of baklava because it looked amazing! I thought about it all night. If I am back in the area I would like to dine in, they have a great menu and the restaurant sits on the water with pretty views. read more

We often stay in Glendale for little getaways and I can't believe we haven't been coming to George's from before lol. It's only 4 mins away from where we usually stay! Anyways, we came on a Thursday night in December and they were pretty busy. Love that for them. The one thing I love is that the servers and most people working there were Greek. My bf (who is Greek) and I judge the authenticity of Greek restos based on if they have Greek workers or owners. Luckily, this place has both. I was even able to practice my Greek with our server who was so sweet. We learned a little about her life here and in Greece. My bf ordered the chicken gyro dinner and I knew I wouldn't be able to eat a dinner on my own, so I figured I would just eat some of his lol. I did also order a pork skewer for myself, as it's my preferred meat at Greek restos. Sadly, they don't have a pork skewer dinner. Our server brought out the salad that comes with the dinner first. As you can see, it's a very generous portion and my bf and I easily shared it. It was dressed just right. The chicken gyro meat kinda fell short. We didn't really enjoy it. We didn't love the flavours. The pork skewer, however, was just right. It was seasoned perfectly and juicy. Paired with the tzatziki was Greek perfection. We also really enjoyed the rice. My bf said, just by looking at it, you could tell it was good. The potato's were good too. Overall, it was a good meal and we will be returning. My bf said he wouldn't order the chicken gyro dinner again but there are many more items on the menu that he would try. The only thing they're missing on the menu is my fave, fasolakia! We also ended up getting a piece of galektoboureko to go and this was excellent. The thickness of the custard was exactly how I like it and the phyllo was perfect. It was easy to cut and stayed in tact. Sometimes the phyllo gets so soaked in honey that the whole piece comes off then you cut it. It had hints of orange zest in the custard. The only downside was it was mad expensive for the slice. It was $10. Overall, a great experience and we are looking forward to coming back! read more

We ordered takeout while staying in st Catharine's for the royal henley regatta. This was probably our favorite and best meal of our weeklong visit. Two of us ordered the chicken kebab special that is only available through takeout. We also ordered a pork kebab and spanikopita. Each meal came with potatoes, rice, bread, tzatziki sauce and a Greek salad. Each meal fed each of us for 2 meals- and it was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend. I just wish I took pictures- but we ordered later and were ravenous- so there was no time for pics. read more

We stopped here for lunch, our first meal in Canada, on our way from Toronto to Niagra Falls. This place was busy & bustling - that's always a good sign. After a few minute wait, we were seated in the last available table in the heated patio. Our order: Black lager: really good! Great flavor, like a carbonated stout - wasn't expecting that Chicken souvlaki with potato: great flavor, filling, thought the potatoes were going to be diced/smaller but they were really buttery & flavorful Souvlaki gyro with Greek salad: the greek salad was just what I needed and was so fresh & delicious, the gyro was good too but paled in comparison to the Greek salad. The patio had somewhat of a view of the tall bridge overpass & water below. Service was great. Our bill was $35 CAD - what a deal! read more

We had a large group reservation (20 people) on a Friday night. We were seated promptly and ordered drinks. The drinks came quickly. I recognize we were a large group and some ordered appetizers and some didn't, but I waited 1 hour and 45 min for my food. If we weren't part of a group I would have given up waiting for sure. Found George's when looking for a Greek restaurant for lunch when driving by Dt-Catherine. What a gem! We were welcomed warmly and promptly seated. The menu has all the expected Greek delicacies and something to please everybody. Our server was awesome and attentive. We opted for the Gyro and Greek salad combo and it was copious and delicious. No room for dessert so we will have to go back and continue to explore the menu. Highly recommended as we will go back again for sure. read more

We started our meal with the kalamari and it was really good. They also brought it to our table pretty quick so we weren't waiting long. Once we finished that they brought us garlic bread and greek salad, which were both great as well. Shortly after we finished the salad they brought our main dishes. We arrived pretty hungry so we really enjoyed the continuous flow of food to our table! I ordered the shrimp with tomato and feta and really enjoyed it. There was lots of flavour and a big portion of shrimp. I felt there was a bit too much feta but still really enjoyed it. My parter ordered the chicken kebob and liked it as well. The chicken was pretty simple, but that's to be expected. We both loved the rice and homemade tzatziki that came with our dinners. The portions were large and offered great value. Overall we thought the food was excellent but some other highlights were the service and the breadth of the menu. Our waitress was friendly, checked in on us often, and was surprisingly honest in answering our questions about the menu. We loved the wide range of options available on the menu, because we've gotten used to Greek food being a choice between pork souvlaki and chicken souvlaki. A menu that big makes us consider returning just to try other interesting dishes we missed out on today! After reading reviews, I thought this would be a great place to go since I do enjoy Greek cuisine. My husband had the traditional gyro dinner which he enjoyed. I had the traditional chicken dinner, however I have to admit, I was disappointed. We started with garlic bread and a Greek salad, which had way too much dressing and when you got to the bottom of the bowl the lettuce was soggy. When my meal arrived, the presentation wasn't appetizing. Rice and potato on bottom, two pieces of pita on top with chicken (it looked brown) smothered over it. I didn't even see the lemon until half eaten, as it was buried under everything and I had to move the chicken to get to the pita bread. Some of the chicken pieces were grizzly which I had to spit out on my plate. I ate half my meal, it was underwhelming to say the least, and I declined taking the leftovers home. Personally, I wouldn't return, however I'm glad my husband enjoyed it since it was his birthday. On a positive, the staff and service was very good. read more

This restaurant offers a solid meal, good portions and good prices. I had the pork souvlaki sandwich (pita wrap) for lunch and both the main and the side Greek salad were quite tasty. The dessert portions are big, and the baklava had a lot of nuts in it. The location is a fantastic one with a view of the Welland canal-- if you're lucky, timing wise, you may even catch the pull bridge go up while a boat comes through during your meal! They have a Nice big patio or you can sit by the wall of windows inside for this. I feel this is a bit of a "hidden" find and very quaint. Very good greek restaurant! The saganaki was good and they didn't batter the cheese! The greek salad was really good, the dressing was different than what I expected, it had a good taste and was more of a vinegar base. I ordered the chicken kabob (souvlaki) and it was tender and tasted really good. The reason I didn't give them a full 5 star was because of two reasons, the first is one of the potatoes was bigger than the rest and wasn't totally cooked (not that big of a deal) , second was the rice was good but a little plain for my taste. The ambiance is very nice with the canal and boats going by and with greek music playing in the background, seems like your in Greece! It's processed chicken. Not chicken cut up into strips like most places. Actual chicken pressed and processed. Got to admit that is very disappointing. Just cut up some chicken and marinate it. Much better option. The gyro is just chicken and pita no tomatoes or other veggies that typically come on it. I am not a lamb fan so chicken is what I typically get and never had a real issue. This was disappointing as mentioned. The salad was great. The olives are not pitted. Be careful they have seeds. The rice and potatoes are okay. My companion got the dill and cheese in filo dough. There is plenty of seating and some outside tables overlooking the canal, however it is a bit noisy as you have a freeway and a busy road on both sides of the restaurant. I ordered the chicken souvlaki sandwich and it was a bit light on protein. I recommend trying a non-sandwich meal. I also ordered the fries instead of the greek side salad which was a mistake. This was our first time here. And we are from New Orleans where the food standard bar is set pretty high. The waiter suggested that we alter our order to include the sampler, and so glad we did. The kafta was excellent and the spinach pies were perfect. I like my husband's dolmas better but these were good. We had each originally ordered a pita wrap....chicken for me and gyro for my husband. They were both full of meat. And while we liked our waiter, my water glass stayed empty way too long. We were thirsty from al of the walking on the Falls tour. This place is fantastic!!! The food is great and with large servings. I got the chicken kabob it was on a bed of rice and came with some crispy potatoes. It was so tender and the rice was yum. I always say when cooks pay attention to the littler things(like rice) that your food will be great. Well they did and it was and I can not wait to go back. Only problem is I live in Buffalo and this is in St. Catherine's, Ontario otherwise I would go once a week. My brother and boyfriend got the Lamb Slovakia and the portion was also huge and very good. Can not wait to go again and eat some tasty food. It should be noted that the service was ver y good also and this place is huge so I don't think there is ever really a wait except maybe in the middle of summer on a beautiful day. Best restaurant meal I have had since Covid began. Excellent food and good service, seems to be rare anymore.

My husband and I find this restaurant online and it seemed to have decent reviews so we called this order take out. My husband called in the order in on April 14. We picked up our order prior to closing and when picking our food up my husband saw how clean the place was. He was so happy to see this as he thought it was a reflection of their food. I had the calamari and he had 2 gyros. We went home and headed to bed at midnight. My husband was awoken twice severely vomiting what he had for dinner. The next day, I called the diner to let them know what had happened. While the owner, Daniele was nice enough, she called me back telling me that food poisoning takes 14 hours to occur which is outlined by the food safety board and that George said it could not be the food for this reason. I told her that I think she is mistake and nobody can dictate exactly how long it will take have a reaction. I would have respected an answer that they will replace the meat before someone else gets sick but they were in denial so they can profit. I am almost certain the food is not properly handled and stored in this establishment. Food safety should be the pinnacle of restaurants, however, there are very few places in Toronto that really care. Restaurants are filthy and people are constantly talking over your food or neglects to wash their hands thoroughly. You have been warned. If you or anyone you know experiences this type of reaction, report it to the health board for further investigation. read more

After a long day on the canal watching the ships locking up and down we were in need of sustenance and refreshment. We started out looking for a pizza joint but saw George's sign: Yea advertising! Got parked, got in, and promptly asked to go back outside; table on the long patio with a good view of the water. Young fellow took care of us the whole evening, recommendations were excellent. We started with the spanakopita; flaky pastry with spinach and feta layered into it before baking to a crispy crunch... two fresh wee loaves accompanied my greek salad; lightly dressed greens plus onion, crumbled feta, tiny tomatoes, and olives...my kabob combo had broiled chicken, beef, and pork-sticks on a bed of rice plus roasty 'tatoes; MLB's deconstructed lamb souvlaki (thank you Theo) enabled precise portion control and flavorizing. Kataifi for dessert - almond bits in shredded filo with vanilla cream topping - baklava goes home in a box but is gone before bed time :-) read more
