    Garlic Bread
    Dante M.

This is definitely a very affordable restaurant on Niagara on the Lake compared to the other restaurants. My girlfriend and I stopped here before heading back to the USA for lunch and were thoroughly impressed! We started with the garlic bread appetizer, and for the $7 price it was a little underwhelming and I would definitely recommend going for a different appetizer. However, both the Pork Slouvaki and Chicken Slouvaki lunches were delicious! Each was accompanied by a Greek said and a side of tahini dressing. The meat was fork tender, the rice was full of flavor, and the Greek salad was fresh! The service was very good as well! It was very hot outside sitting on the patio and the waitress ensured that we were never out of water! I would definitely recommend checking this place out!

First time here on the weekend. Sat in the patio. Waited 20 mins to accommodate a group of 12. Food is great! Price is reasonable. Good service. Had a bunch of appetizers and salads. Rack of lamb was so good and I don't usually like to eat lamb! Would you back and highly recommend.

I didn't have high expectations walking in, but I have to give credit where credit is due. PROS - Great service - Delicious food - Ample parking - Outdoor seating CONS - no complimentary bread Overall, fantastic. Glad we stopped here.

    Chicken souvlaki w/ Greek salad

Came here for lunch with a few friends, and the food was amazing!! I got the chicken souvlaki w/ greek salad and I loved it. My friends also tried my dish and fell in love. I felt like the portions were perfect, not too little and not too much. The service was okay. Despite our waitress being kind, she was pretty slow. I asked her for straws, and I reminded her about 2-3 times. When she brang it, she just touched them with her hands after dealing with other orders and just put them on the table which was already dirty.. was not impressed at that part. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere and a pretty cute date night spot. However, I feel like the washroom should totally be renovated. It's super tiny and one would feel so claustrophobic in there. There were 4 of us in the washroom waiting in line, and it was so tiny that we couldn't even move over for someone to walk out.

We sat in the front of the restaurant because it was brighter. It seemed like the lights were low towards the back ... not cozy at all. We both ordered Yianni's Special. Plus Gord ordered a coffee and I ordered a large milk. Breakfast was good and there was a nice variety. Our server started out fairly friendly. But after we'd ordered and got our meals, she kind of forgot about us. We were trying to catch her attention to let her know we wanted our bill for a while. It took us a long time to be able to pay. This restaurant lost a star because of this.

Walking home, we spotted Yianni's storefront and resolved to head there for breakfast in the morning - it looked cozy, and they had a breakfast menu plastered right outside! Arriving was a totally different experience, however. To be fair, we were there on a wednesday morning - but we were literally the only diners there (and the town was bustling with some sort of photography group...hundreds of people with cameras? Who knows). I was initially excited for what I was assuming to be a great little greasy-spoon greek breakfast spot. Turns out I was wrong on that account. The waitress ushered us to our table, asking if we would like a coffee. Of course, we said yes before even sitting down - however I would later find out that coffee was $2.50 a cup for mediocre diner-style brew. Ehhh, not impressed, and the way she said it I assumed (like at plenty of breakfast spots) that it was included. My fault for assuming, but whatever. Anyhow, when she came back I was quite excited to order the egg breakfast. I don't eat meat (and there was no plain egg dish without it), so I asked if I might be able to sub the bacon for another side, or an extra egg, or anything really. Bowl of fruit? whatever. Her response kind of bothered me, however: "Absolutely no substitutions." Seriously? Who says that? Roll it off your tongue, right now. You just -feel- rude. Needless to say I was disenchanted at the idea of paying $7 for two eggs and toast (no coffee, homefries extra, of course). After her little rebuttal, she said matter-of-factly that "if you don't eat meat, you should get an omelette." $10-13 for the omelette. Well, OK. $13 for breakfast is no big deal. Oh wait, that doesn't come with homefries either? Grumpily, my girlfriend and I each ordered a side of homefries for an extra $1.50 each. To her credit, the omelette didn't take long to make and it was in front of me pretty soon. There was plenty of feta in my Mediterranean omelette, and it was pretty tasty. The homefries, however, were FROM A BAG. We're talking McCain/Cavendish variety here. Not only that, they BURNED THEM into crunchy little cubes of grease, with little-to-no fluffy potato interior. It was actually like eating grease-soaked potato chips. I had heartburn for HOURS. I was unimpressed when the bill unceremoniously showed up at $38. I'm sorry, but $5 for two uninspiring coffees, over $15 per omelette... ...I would have paid that for an incredible, fresh, lovely breakfast at some inn by the lake. But given the atmosphere and the service and the quality of what I actually put in my mouth... ...PASS.

Anyways, we came on a Thursday night in December and they were pretty busy. Love that for them. The one thing I love is that the servers and most people working there were Greek. My bf (who is Greek) and I judge the authenticity of Greek restos based on if they have Greek workers or owners. Luckily, this place has both. I was even able to practice my Greek with our server who was so sweet. We learned a little about her life here and in Greece. My bf ordered the chicken gyro dinner and I knew I wouldn't be able to eat a dinner on my own, so I figured I would just eat some of his lol. I did also order a pork skewer for myself, as it's my preferred meat at Greek restos. Sadly, they don't have a pork skewer dinner. Our server brought out the salad that comes with the dinner first. As you can see, it's a very generous portion and my bf and I easily shared it. It was dressed just right. The chicken gyro meat kinda fell short. We didn't really enjoy it. We didn't love the flavours. The pork skewer, however, was just right. It was seasoned perfectly and juicy. Paired with the tzatziki was Greek perfection. We also really enjoyed the rice. My bf said, just by looking at it, you could tell it was good. The potato's were good too. Overall, it was a good meal and we will be returning. My bf said he wouldn't order the chicken gyro dinner again but there are many more items on the menu that he would try. The only thing they're missing on the menu is my fave, fasolakia! We also ended up getting a piece of galektoboureko to go and this was excellent. The thickness of the custard was exactly how I like it and the phyllo was perfect. It was easy to cut and stayed in tact. Sometimes the phyllo gets so soaked in honey that the whole piece comes off then you cut it. It had hints of orange zest in the custard. The only downside was it was mad expensive for the slice. It was $10. Overall, a great experience and we are looking forward to coming back!

The rice was actually a lot better than I expected. I know it's just a side, but rice at times from other Greek places isn't that great, and this was much better. My wife had the mix grill plate, and I helped. She absolutely loved the lamb. It was largely over the quality and the prep was fairly standard, but there's nothing wrong with that. The potato layer feels fluffy and sandwiches thinly sliced eggplant, so the aubergine is rather pronounced. The ground beef mixture wasn't overly spiced and even the bechamel sauce was a thin layer, so it toasts the top but doesn't saturate the slice. Ultimately, it's not heavy so you could get through a full portion. A flaming saganaki ($19.95), the pan fried kefalotiri cheese, is a staple in Canadian Greek restaurants. It seems touristy to order but there's something endearing about setting a piece of cheese on fire and yelling "opa"! For me, the dish is more for the atmosphere than taste. Pantheon pan fries the cheese well, so it develops a crust even prior to flambeeing and serves it as a thick gooey slice. If only the accompanying bread wasn't so dry and mealy, a good saganaki calls for a better complement. Almost all their mains arrive with a sizeable Greek side salad that's smartly served first containing ample amounts of crumbled feta and some tomato, cucumbers, and onion over romaine. Their dressing is different, tamer and while still acidic there's a sweetness to it. Not sure, but perhaps they use a red wine vinegar and then blend the ingredients together so it's better combined? With the fishkebob souvlaki ($36.95) I was expecting fish, but it's really a seafood kebob containing shrimp, calamari and mushroom. It's cooked well with a faint grilled aroma, very tender, and lightly salted. Sadly, my steamed vegetables were merely carrots and didn't have the delicious garlicky green beans included on my friends' plates. Luckily, there was plenty with the moussaka so I could augment mine. At least there was an ample portion of roasted lemon potatoes that were soft and fluffy with a refreshing pronounced citrus finish. Pantheon doesn't skimp on the lamb chops that arrive with the entrée. And if you can't decide on what protein you'd like, their menu also offers some as add-ons. The lamb chop by the piece ($11.95) was bit gamier than I'd like but was cooked to a perfect medium doneness. A complimentary honey cake arrives for the table and is almost like having baklava in cake form. Just watch out, as the moist crumbly cake is difficult to pick up with a fork. Don't waste a bit of this delicious dessert, just use your fingers.
