After a long day of waiting on kittens in Austin proper and watching them all get adopted before we got a chance to see them (I say this in the most loving & happy way too), I told my partner we should try coming to Pflugerville and see what the cats there. We were VERY happy we did. From walking in to signing the paperwork for adoption our experience was positive and loving. The volunteer that cared for our cat then was super sweet to us and to our cat as she said her goodbyes to her when she found out we wanted to adopt her. The volunteer took great care of packing our cat in the carrier and even gave us the blanket, a few cat toys, and her cat brush in a nice bag with other goodies, food, and even supplements from Tomilson's Pet Store (a great Austin pet store). We loved the sweet care and transparency around our adoption. Because we adopted a senior cat our adoption fees were waived and the health report the shelter provided to us was informative for us on determining what kind of care we would expect when we adopted her. I really appreciated the transparency from the staff about our adoption. They were professional and were very kind and patient with us on all our questions around our new loving cat. What a great success story it has been for us in adopting Dusty. She was a surrender from her previous owner but now is in our loving home and receives all the treats and wet food she wants in her senior days. Thank you to the staff and kindness of those we met and will not forget at this shelter. We appreciate your care and giving us an opportunity to love her forever.

I reported a vicious dog at a residence nearby that attacked my miniature poodle to both my HOA and…read moreAnimal Control. The HOA would require an owner to get rid of a dog, who is a disturbance, but does nothing about a vicious dog. I would not want to see a person lose their beloved dog, but if someone would address the issue and perhaps, give them a warning, the owner would ensure that the dog behaves better. After speaking with 311, I was informed that they could send the owner brochures on leash laws, since my dog was not bitten. That just doesn't seem to suffice and I implied that. Then, it was mentioned that an officer could go out to speak with the owner. I don't feel confident that this will be addressed. I Pray that this dog doesn't viciously attack another dog or person to the point where it is more detrimental. It seems the dog and his owner are being given a pass because my dog was viciously attacked without being bitten and the owner tried to remove her dog, after the attack. The owner should have removed her dog immediately, when I first asked her to get her dog. I believe that she felt like the course was clear because her dog started off just sniffing my dogs, before viciously attacking my dogs. Just sending leash laws without someone addressing this issue will result in a repeated attack. The dog clearly needs to be trained. Otherwise, this goes across as being acceptable.

If money is being exchanged beyond standard adoption fees, the public deserves clarity on where funds are going and whether shelters are aware. Donations should support care, vetting, and rescue efforts--not personal profit. If this is a legitimate rescue operation, transparency, nonprofit status, and itemized use of funds should be clearly provided. Otherwise, this feels misleading to donors and unfair to families who adopt in good faith. I made my appt 3 weeks I n advance for 2 of my dogs. One needed a trim, and one just needed basic grooming without a haircut. When I drop them off that morning the lady (owner) said "2 shaves, right?" I said no, and explained that I gave her personally all the info when I made the appt 3 weeks prior. She used the excuse that it had been weeks, so she didn't remember. (Why wouldn't she have written that very important information down? ) She then told me she couldn't tend to my dogs that day anymore unless they just got shaved. She gave one of my dogs a quick look with a lot of disgust. Judging me for not bringing him in sooner, and telling me his fur couldn't be salvaged, and would have to all be shaved off. She also said that a vet needed to be the one to groom him because his fur was so "severe". I told her I was in between vets at the moment and didn't feel the need to go that route anyway. She asked me who my vet that I no longer trusted was and when I told her the name, she began to say how respectable that dr is. I again told her I didn't like that dr anymore and my bf explained that the vet recommended I end my dog's life for a condition he no longer even has. She then decided it was her place to say (while touching my dog) that if that's what the vet recommended, that I should do it. NO ONE asked For her opinion or recommendation on the matter. Both my bf and I stood there in utter shock at what she was saying. This is the owner! Her daughter had always been very kind and patient with my baby. She however, I did not trust with my child especially since she felt he should be DEAD. I brought both my kids home, refusing to leave them with her. I came home and cleaned up my dog myself. His fur was fine, and his ears brushed right out even though she said she would have to shave them because "they were so bad". She simply seemed to not want my business and tried to scold me numerous times.

Went in to see Dr. Douglas who felt it was scar tissue from an injury. Sent us home with an anti inflammatory and antibiotics. 14 days after the meds were gone, we called and advised the mass had not shrunk. We came in and paid for a biopsy but the vet could not get one. We were told it was scar tissue from an unknown injury and nothing to worry about. $500 total with no biopsy. We since got a second opinion, and the dog has Cancer. When we followed up with Dr, Douglas, the receptionist said the surgeon who is there once a week was indeed concerned after relooking at the picture. There were lots of mixed signals and we could have lost our dog. We would not return to this Dr.

I have been using Dr. Valle for over 10yrs. I will follow her wherever she goes. Pfenning isn't…read moreclose to me so I drive just to see her. I have taken animals severely ill to her and I have had animals that just needed vaccinations. She is best diagnostician vet I have ever experienced. Once in awhile out of availability I have had to use other vets for emergency situations and her care is always just a level above others. She is the very best. Example: I had a dog suffering from ehrlichia. The emergency vet said she scratched her eye. That wasn't the case she was losing her vision to the progression of the disease. Dr. Valle figured it out. Sadly it was too late to save her vision and when Dr. Valle removed her eyes she was so helpful in keeping her expressions despite losing her eyes. I believe Dr. Valle saved her life. Recently I had to euthanize one of my beloved pets and she made it as easy as it could be. He was suffering from kidney disease. The best thing to do was to let him go. If you haven't been through this process then you won't know a good vet from a bad one. I am older so I have been through this process let's say a few times. Pfenning staff put me in a room where I could say good-bye. They took him away to do the Cath so the process would be smooth and believe me you want it to be smooth. I had a vet one time who "missed" the vein and my poor animal went screaming into the next life. It happens but you don't want it to believe me. Not with Dr. Valle, she came in and ask if I was ready, I said yes, she administered the relaxation shot I'll call it where they go limp and then the one that stops their heart. It is never easy to let go but it helps when you have a caring vet clinic around you. I just want the least stress on the animal. I always want what is best for the suffering animal and I believe Dr. Valle does as well. I bet I have taken 10animals to her over the years. I have a lot of critters. Cats and dogs. I have never had a negative experience with her or her staff and most of them I have known awhile too. Note: I have a cat that is the devil when he goes to the vet. Dr. Valle handles him with the best of ease. Yes she has to grab him and manhandle him a little but that is what it takes sometimes. I sure didn't want to mess with him while he was in this state. But Dr. Valle is like I got him. No problem.
