We just moved here and had a less than stellar experience with another doggie daycare. Amy did such a great job explaining how they work - the scheduling, assessments, training etc. and has been super patient with all my "nervous mom" insanity. My dog had some hesitation at first but is always happy to arrive there now. The place looks clean and the staff is very professional. The only thing I don't like is that they don't allow the dogs to play after they get a bath. I get it but I also figure she will be cleanER...but that's me and I know it probably creates problems with other people. Overall a super nice staff that seem to genuinely love the pups they work with! Not cheap - but as with most things, you get what you pay for. read more

Gave this place two stars since I got my dog back alive however after looking at cameras I wasn't too impressed I saw my dog in isolation while the other dogs played with the staff. I brought my dog for an evaluation when I picked him up I was told my dog is too hyper and that if I continued to bring my dog here he will continue to be in isolation until he knows how to behave?! This was told by some young girl I didn't ask her credentials since I was livid at this point. This is daycare for socialization but I guess they take it upon themselves to evaluate this. My dog plays with dog in the neighborhood and isn't hyper but again they obviously don't want new business. read more

I can't say enough good things about Shady Acres Pet Ranch. Our 7 month old golden retriever attended their 3 week puppy training and boarding program and it was such a great decision! All the staff are so helpful, friendly and attentive. Ashleigh was our trainer and was so fantastic at not only training our pup but was great with communicating, providing text/video/phone updates and allowing flexible times for visits. Our pup loves her and Shady Acres! You could tell Ashleigh truly loves working with pups and is very gifted at bringing them up to snuff:) The counter-cruising, jumping up on people, and hand biting has been completely corrected. The staff is incredible and capable! I have total peace of mind when leaving my babies at Shady Acres! They spent a week with them back in 2019 and were noticeably happy and comfortable with the staff. In preparation for another lengthy stay, they went back for an updated evaluation this week which required they stay for the day. They obviously had a fun day and even made a friend! I just dropped them for a week at "camp" and they were once again excited and comfortable with the staff. I can truly relax on vacation knowing they will be cared for like family! read more

Difficult to schedule with! You complete a request for boarding your puppy, think you have it complete, submit the required deposit.....and then wait. Communication is difficult. Lack of knowing where you stand with your reservation is maddening. I found out today that they are booked up for the time I needed...which I understand and accept, but the difficulty is that it took multiple emails to find that out! Don't try and call....you'll get voicemail. To be clear, I'm not giving the bad rating because I didn't get a reservation (I'm glad that their business is thriving)....I'm giving the bad rating because I had to go out of my way to send multiple emails to find out if they could confirm the stay. How normal is that? Puppy likes the place when they can take her. The pet care team seems nice, so no complaints there. Time to work on additional places to hotel the puppy. read more

We've been boarding our high drive Belgian Malinois here for about 18 months, and they have been great. We board about once a month when we go out of town. The staff are super friendly, accommodating, organized, and know how to handle even the "highest maintenance" dogs. We are very particular about who we let board our dog, but we don't have any anxiety leaving her at Shady Acres. The booking, drop off and pick up process is extremely easy, and the price to board is also extremely fair. We plan to continue being loyal customers! read more

I tried calling to setup an evaluation but their hold message stated that a faster response could be received if I texted their number instead. After texting last week to inquire about bringing my dog in for an evaluation, I was told their was an opening July 6th. I texted back to confirm bringing my dog and even inquired about how to provide her vaccine information. I received a text back stating I could text a copy of the vaccine records. On the date of the evaluation I receive a text from another person stating they didn't see my account. I provided the texts and then was told the account must be created and then they can evaluate my dog. Total inconvenience and miscommunication. I read some of the other reviews and was hoping to get a better experience but it definitely didn't happen. read more

This is our first time using Shady Acres Ranch. Raider loved it here! He quickly made friends with other dogs and the staff we encountered were very friendly. Totally thought the staff would update us nightly, but that was a miscommunication on my part. They did answer my emails, regarding updates, promptly though. We used their grooming services for a nail trim, which was also reasonably priced. We thought they did an awesome job. Loved the play yard cameras to keep an eye out on our pupparoo, definitely a pain with traveling and wifi, but an indoor camera would be nice too. Raider came back totally tuckered out from his day of play. We will definitely be using them again in the near future. read more

I have been bringing our dog Pepper here for almost 3 years. When I first rescued Pepper, she was shy around new people, but this place really helped her come out of her shell. Two more dogs and 3 years later Pepper's report card says: "We all love her beautiful eyes and the way she wags her whole body when she's happy." Pepper is still a little shy around new people and doesn't just do that for anyone, so it is such a personal comment. It really warms my heart to know that she had such a fantastic time this weekend, as well as our other pups, Biscuit and Loofah. As usual, I cannot recommend Shady Acres Pet Ranch enough. I drive 18 minutes each way to come here. There are places that are closer to me, but after attempting to try out one of their "specials" a few years back, the Dogtopia by me felt like a trip to the vet. Pepper looked terrified of the place, and I wasn't comfortable leaving her there, with the one unsure guy at the counter. lol They definitely did not seem to have a bunch of loving staff members there ready to help. Taurus Academy does cage rotation and is quite expensive! I want my dogs to run around on a ranch and meet new friends and I want to pay a reasonable price for it. I want to know that there is a full staff of dog lovers on hand to watch my pups and their new friends. I would like personal feedback on my pups after their trip is over. This is why I go to Shady Acres Pet Ranch. :-) I really cannot recommend this place enough and all three of our pups love it there. Thank you, guys! read more

What happened to this place??? I've taken Brody here two to three times a week for over five years and he ALWAYS had great time there, but I am no longer taking him there after today. I'm finding a new daycare. Communicating with these people is infuriating for almost a year now. I understand they need to close daycare in SOME circumstances, but c'mon, Spring break?? I always got emails with info about closures until about a year ago. After TWICE driving all the way there to be turned away (I live in Hutto, this is a big deal to drive 15 miles one way!!!), I called. Not easy because you constantly get told to leave a message, but you often do NOT get called back. But I was persistent because what is the point of a reservation if you don't take my dog? They said they would check why I never got an email. Well, they didn't!! Today my daughter took Brody to drop him for me (I can't always drive) and was told, sorry, closed, no room, Spring break (in spite of my having a standing reservation on Tuesday and Thursday for five years!) She was then told an email was sent about closing daycare, but that I had opted to not receive emails!! WHY would I ever do that? Why would anyone? So I could drive 15 miles for nothing? And how could I even do that when they have closed their office since the beginning of the pandemic and NEVER opened it again, so NO ONE is allowed in for me to tell them I don't want emails. New owners, price went up by a third AND no longer offer discount packages, no drop offs without a reservation (not that I ever did that ) and more times daycare is closed!! Many people I've talked to there now are suddenly just plain rude and uncaring - it was NOT like this before! NOW I get texts AN HOUR before they close to tell me my dog is ready to be picked up!! WHY??? Are you closing early - what??? There is still an hour until close!!! We have NEVER picked him up late or made someone wait for us to get there. We always pick him up before close for over five years!! You can text me for that when it's not necessary, but you can't manage to email me dates you aren't open for daycare? Funny, I got emails for four years, but not now. About a year ago one of the girls that had been there forever and was so friendly to me and my dog came out to me at about the time of the turnover to say goodbye, that it was her last day and she didn't want me to think she just disappeared. But she wouldn't say why she was leaving - red flag!! I should have known then! Over the years I have so recommended this place and written great reviews for them - that ends now. NOW I would be worried to leave my dog because I can't trust them to take care of him when they do finally decide to let him in!! read more

We could not be happier to find Shady Acres. Our very sweet 2 1/2 year old Cocker needed training to help her overcome fear aggression around other dogs, and being hyper & stubborn at home. We sent her to Shady Acres for 3-week training and she is a different child! Now she loves going a couple of days a week to day care to play and it really helps expend her energy. Amazing staff and pets have so much outside play time and aren't just stuck in a kennel half the day. They get to interact and play with other dogs and get lots of attention from the staff. I really like that they only take in a certain amount of dogs. It's an amazing facility with shaded outdoor spaces . We'll definitely board our dog here from now on. He was very happy there. Update 7/29/21 yesterday my Doodle Maggie went for day-play. She had a wonderful time. When I picked her up she was tired but with good looking face. In other places she looked stressed out upon pick up. Danielle again went above and beyond bringing maggie to my car and explained very well why I didn't see any activity on the cameras by the pool in the afternoon. It is hot and they play in the back shaded area. I loved the report card and pictures. I have already reserved Maggie for next Wednesday so she can get into the groove and meet with the same friends she made and continue developing her social skills. I would be amazed if someday I receive the news that Maggie went into the pool. i hope someday it will happen. Thank you for taking care of my shy girl. read more

So sad. Our first few experiences were great. I had given a 5 star review. A few daycare stays and then a night over here and there to prepare for our boys 10 day stay. It WAS good. But... He came back with a scrpe on his nose which will likey scar as well as kennel cough complete with the leaky eyes all for a whopping $450. Woo-hoo and then....a vet bill and meds. We were recommended this place by our neighbor who leaves his puppy there and we were definitely not disappointed. My puppy and me loved the place. With same price as other day boards, they gave much more outdoor group playtime, which we could monitor through cameras at certain play areas. They had separate areas for small dogs too. At the end of the day, they even gave a report card telling how the puppy behaved. Our one turned to be excited one and a people pleaser. After returning home, puppy fell fast asleep showing he was very tired from playing all day. Only painful thing is scheduling process,need to wait for confirmation email. read more

Two reasons for this rating: 1. My dog always comes back filled to the brim with energy. It's almost as if he's locked in his crate for the whole 7 odd hours he's at daycare and when he gets home he's bouncing off the walls. 2. The last time my dog was here, he came back with EXPLOSIVE diarrhea. Either he was given some food that he wasn't supposed to have been given (we always pack his regular kibble for him) or he was so stressed at this location, he made himself sick. Either way, I can't trust this place again and I've given Shady Acres the benefit of the doubt one too many times and the last time I did, my dog came back sick and with diarrhea. read more

I had made a boarding reservation for my two dogs for one night. I called to add in baths before pick up and was told that they could no longer board my dogs because one of them is prone to occasional seizures. This is of course understandable, however we have boarded with them before and were not advised of this at the time of booking. My puppy pit LOVES coming to play. We try to make it once a week to get out all that energy and he always sleeps so well after playtime. The staff is great and always excited to see all the pups coming in. I cannot day enough great things about Shady Acres and their staff!!! I've been bringing my fur baby here to get groomed for the last few months and have been so impressed! I travel often for work and was devastated to hear she was moving. My baby has never slept alone or in a kennel, let alone been boarded. I took a chance with boarding her at Shady Acres and was SO impressed by the love and care they showed my fur baby. She's only 5lbs and my world! I was super stressing after her first night there that I dreaded being "that mom", but called to see how her first night went. Expecting the staff to be slightly annoyed by my hover mom-ness, I was so surprised and relieved when they were more than happy to go ask the staff that has been working with her, how she was doing, if she was eating well and having fun. The staff love her and said she's such a love bug and everyone loves her. Words can't describe how relieved I was and was able to focus on work knowing she was being loved and having a blast! They also send you a report card of your fur babies behavior, favorite things and some photos! Such a genius concept that I super value! I never responded since I never, ever have used Yelp to get anything I didn't pay for. I'm not looking for freebies. So "Tom" or some one over there banned my partner's dog. Yep. Banned. As in she can't use them any more. Now, nowhere did I mention my partner or her dog. But, since we have the rights to pick up each other's dogs someone figured, well, we'll cut her and her little dog off too. What a great example of how spiteful this team really is. We love that Shady Acres has a "day school" option where our dog gets more 1:1 time with the trainers and still socializes in small group settings that aren't overwhelming to him.
