I mean where is the communication!! but Shawn made it his business to blast my business in a nextdoor app that we are somehow apart of. And I will be filing a complaint on him as well because he volunteered information that had nothing to do with the question that I posted. Needless to say, I will never do business with them again.

We found our rescue boy after patiently searching for just the right guy! I had managed to convert…read moremy BF (and owner of the house) that life would be so much better adding a four legged fur friend! Looking online for bulldog types in the general central Texas area, I was directed to Texas Humane Hero's that had recently taken in three cuties. So late on a Saturday we stopped in. Your heart has to be strong to not leave with a carload of wet noses, and I found two of three I was looking for. The site only posts a single picture so it was hard to know all the unique characteristics of each beforehand, and I almost gave up when I didn't see my #3 contender up front. Glad I went all the way to the back where dogs that are getting medical care were. I found my forever guy, sitting on his bed, looking so confused and needing a friendly pat or 24000...I stood by his kennel and he came over, smooshing himself into the fencing to give me a 2" square of white fur to touch. I obliged, and asked to take him out. Unfortunately he wasn't able to that day, but a staff person was swapping him to a new kennel and while he was out we bonded instantly. He Leander into my leg and melted under my head scritches and ear rubs. I snapped a couple pics before he was lead away. The next two weekends were similar,with several visits that felt too short and time spent walking with him around the very large, (an acre?) open area scattered with a couple picnic tables and plenty of good smells. He was getting all checked out and fixed up to be listed as ready to adopt, and I knew this sweet face wouldn't last long, so on a Sunday we went back, filled out the easy paperwork, paid the fees and brought home our loving happy boy! He was underweight, due to a food allergy and had a bad neck abrasion from the cone of shame he wore after being neutered, but he was so happy to have a comfy place to call his own he was extra good and eager to settle in The staff advised us that it can take three months or longer to dogs to fully adjust in their new home and offered services like obiedence training to help the process if needed. It's been just over 4 months since bringing him home and the staff was right. It takes time, consistency and patience learning to trust each other but we feel like a family and our boy is doing terrific acclimating to so much change. Given the correct food and proportions his attitude has 100% improved at meal time and he's gained 15lbs! THH gave us lots of coupons for food and vet services which we've used, and he's up to date in the micro chip directory, too! Adopting our sweet boy was a silky smooth process. I'd recommend checking there first for your next dog...or cat companion! I almost forgot to mention that they have a really nice, indoor cat house too! Stop by, visit with these sweet souls or look into volunteer opportunities. Any help is appreciated.

I just moved here a week ago, and already, I've made an unexpected stray friend. If I didn't…read morealready have cats, I'd have adopted this one, but the poor baby was malnourished and hungry and so friendly, and my mind was set at ease by the staff who promised to take care of her. They explained the process to me for strays: 1) Fill out a stray form and certify you found the pet and that you aren't the owner 2) They will hold the animal for four days to ensure it doesn't belong to someone else in case it is lost 3) Once the hold time expires, the center will spay the kitten and give her vaccines and put her up for adoption. They also assured me this is a no-kill shelter, and that because she's a kitten (and adorable), she'll be adopted quickly. They also have a bin for pet donations (food, toys, etc), and they have pet rooms for hopeful owners to interact with the cats and dogs for adoption. The staff is very kind and knowledgeable, even going as far as to recommend veterinarian services for my current pets. I absolutely recommend this center to anyone looking to adopt or safely surrender a stray.

By 3P I was at the shelter doing a meet and greet with my dogs, and filling out paperwork. Darlene, Terrie and Michelle are all top-notch!! They make sure you are legit and that you and your current animals are a good fit with the new animal. These ladies and the other staff I didn't get to meet clearly work very hard at this shelter. It was beautifully maintained and the animals are clearly well cared for. They work with other shelters and Texas Humane Society to rescue dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. If you are looking for a pet, I highly recommend checking here and if you want to help a shelter, your donation couldn't go to a better place! We searched for a nearby animal shelter to receive our year-end donation. There are some that do a…read morelot of good, and a few that aren't very communicative (perhaps because they get crank calls and need to protect their privacy). Then we heard about the City of Marble Falls efforts to improve its own public animal shelter. We contacted the main person with the shelter, a police department investigator named Rachel Baldree. Ms. Baldree was very generous with her time, explaining the shelter, its significant budget problems (annual budget from the city of only $2500), its successes (adopting out more dogs than ever this year, at a very low cost to adopters) and its great need for donations for maintenance & repairs. We've visited the shelter. It's extremely basic, but it's the only public resource for strays and animal control dogs & cats. There's a HUGE need for donations for its current improvement plans (a yard & fence, better plumbing, better interior, more kennels, veterinary assistance, etc.). They have a general no-kill policy except for aggressive or very sick animals. If you like to support animal shelters, I can't think of a better place to put your money.
