Alittle over a week ago we adopted our mixed breed. She is a great dog, adjusting well to us and our little dog. The workers there for amazing and truly care about what they are doing. Did a great job when it came to introducing our dogs for the first time in the meeting kennel.

I had a really good experience at the Pflugerville Animal Shelter. I adopted my one year old Vizsla pit mix for $20 with a microchip and a free vet visit. They are practically paying you to take these dogs off their hands. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful the volunteers we're great. We did a meet and greet with my Rottweiler at the shelter to make sure the dogs could get along before we took them home, even when we took Bonnie home with us it was on a foster basis over the weekend but we came right back up and finished the adoption on Monday. My point is they are doing a good job of responsibly adopting out these dogs and I highly recommend the Pflugerville animal shelter.

The amount of money they claim to have spent getting one of their dogs back from it's owner is inconsistently varies quite a bit. They have quite a few fundraising pages and are quick to pepper the internet with requests for donations. Their interaction with me was extremely suspect. I saw their dog, Nolan, on petfinder. When I emailed to ask about his availability, heartworm status and age, I was told he has to be adopted with their dog named, Lulu and I did not receive an answer about his current HW status. I asked for more information about Lulu. I found out that both dogs had been heartworm +, but Cindy Marabito wouldn't tell me if they had their vaccinations or had been cleared by a vet after their "holistic heartworm treatment." There was or is some kind of messy legal/custody battle over Lulu. Cindy wouldn't tell me if it had been sorted out. I had to ask: 4 times if they were fixed. I never got an answer, but Lulu's petfinder page now says she is spayed. 4 times if the legal problems with Lulu's custody were resolved. I still haven't gotten an answer. 3 times if they were now heartworm free. Finally Cindy claimed that Nolan was healed with raw and herbal diet/treatments. So I asked if she had verified with a vet that the treatments were successful. She refused to answer that too. 2 times if they were vaccinated, I never got an answer, but Lulu's petfinder page now says she is UTD on vaccines. Cindy sent this: "Both are raw fed and homeopathically treated, so would need to continue that lifestyle. Nolan was hw positive when we got him and totally cured with herbal..a raw fed dog treated with herbal will not become infected with hw or other parasites or disease..take a look at our website .... Health Page. It's amazing..none of our dogs go to conventional vets or ever get sick, get fleas, cancer, etc." I'm certainly not against raw or herbal, but this all just sounds like a scam or wingnut on the loose.

When I went to drop him off before hours, I didn't get to see the. place, but the building looked new and clean. They gave me updates and I appreciated the postcards/Facebook posts about many cat's well being. When I went to pick him up, I was impressed by how clean the place was, considering how my cats and finches were present. My cat's room was very clean, with a big window, the jungle gym setup, and a loft bed. The kitty litter had added fiber pellets, which I hope he liked since he hates sawdust litter. They gave me back everything that I left at dropoff, plus a toy. My cat was very calm, coming by his own free-will to greet the handler. To me, these were all green flags and I will highly recommend Whiskers to anyone needing a safe place for their kittens and cats to stay for a short (or long) spell. They know cats better!
