Bill is extremely professional, and has a very lovely, professional and relaxing office. Rolfing is deep fascia work which reorders the body, and as such it usually requires several visits to be effective. And it's not cheap. But Bill can do amazing things with correcting posture and alignment. I felt two inches taller by the time I was done with my 10 Rolfing sessions, and my muscles were much happier to not be holding my spine and head at funky angles. If you are interested in giving Rolfing a try, I highly recommend Bill.

And you won't have to worry about them following a pre-scripted routine if there are specific areas that need the most attention; the massage is very interactive that way. Anywho, Tarika was great. Tarika is, hands down, the best massage therapist I've ever been to (and I've been to many!) in terms of both working out and identifying both temporary and ongoing issues/soreness. She uses multiple tools along with manual therapy - including cupping, massage gun, and a graston tool - depending on what's needed. She'll also identify tightness/inflammation that I'm not even aware of, meaning I can tend to it before it gets worse. If you're getting to a certain age like me (40+) and are at least moderately active, I'd highly recommend going to Massosport for regular sports massage. And you can get a great deal if you prepay for a 5-session pack.

I discovered Saida through one of the daily coupon sites, and when I left a message to schedule my first massage, it was returned promptly. Her office is directly across from the zoo and easy to find, extremely clean, and nicely decorated. And, now, on to the massage: it's fantastic. She has a very gentle touch, but can apply a lot of strength if necessary. This was further demonstrated during my second visit. In the course of unpacking/decorating after a move, I'd had a large picture frame hit me in the head and effectively give me whiplash on one side of my neck. When I woke up in pain the next morning, I called her, and she was able to fit me in for an hour the next day, a Sunday (she also had a half-hour slot the same day, but I decided to wait). She asked me relevant questions and then got to work, spending the entire time on the area in pain. I started to feel some relief immediately, and while the healing process will probably take another couple days, I have no doubt that she sped it up considerably. Oh, and her prices are VERY reasonable. She doesn't accept gratuities, so the price listed ($75 for one hour, for example) really is the price. Just awesome.

I went in for general maintenance during a period of change in my life and to help get back running (literally.) Anne is thoughtful, gentle and effective, and also timely and professional. Plus her office is close to the Metro and she has online booking! If you don't know what Rolfing or structural integration is, the quickest explanation is it's like chiropractic work but for your soft connective tissues. It's deep tissue body work to make lasting change in the body and I consider it like couples therapy between me and my body. It's hard to describe what it feels like as it depends on you, and the Rolfer's style. Some people find it painful, I think it's relaxing and can a little emotional. Think slow pressure applied by hand, and guided movements. Anne was very considerate and checked in regularly to ensure she didn't cause me any pain. I just had the best run in the last decade. I feel great. And it might be a coincidence but I've bought a house, examined my priorities and who I am and want to be, stood up to several work bullies, started eating healthier, and am happy when I look in the mirror. Anna integrates other whole-body therapies when appropriate. After a shoulder injury I had reduced range of motion, substantial pain, and a tremor in my hand. The doctor sent me to physical therapy, which wasn't very helpful as I still had the same painful symptoms afterwards. Anna's Rolfing work dealt with the underlying cause of the symptoms, which helped my whole body recover. These treatments gave me back normal use of my shoulder.
