My dog and I have been going to Dr Morgan since 2017 when I adopted my dog. He is the most loving vet. When I wasn't sure if I could keep my puppy after the first week or so of adopting her (I had to move and that country didn't allow certain breeds of dogs), he assured me I could and should - he was so correct - my dog is like my guardian angel. Dr Morgan has also been very careful with the paperwork which I have needed to travel between the US and the other country I live in. We brought our beautiful 6yr old Kelpie x Australian Shepard over from Australia when we relocated almost 2 years ago. We sadly watched him battle and eventually pass away from Leptospirosis, a bacteria infection which is contracted through rat waste. Coming from Australia we had never heard of the disease before and are still baffled and extremely angry as to why he was not given the vaccination. Especially considering the rat numbers in DC. It's been 6 weeks now since Rueben died and we have not had one person from Georgetown Vet Hospital reach out. No one to offer condolences. No apologies or reasons as to why he wasn't vaccinated. Nothing. Maybe they feel guilty, but trust me it's nothing compared to the guilt my wife and I carry now, because we failed in our roles to keep our beloved boy safe. If anything comes of this I hope that every dog that goes through this clinic now will be vaccinated against the disease. No one should have to go through what we did. Extremely disappointing. I took a urine sample for urinalysis to my dog's first (and only) appointment at the Georgetown Vet. At that appointment, I was handed a receipt for the required prepayment I made, and no one informed me that I had to pay for the urinalysis separately or there was any additional charge for anything. I waited almost a week without hearing back before calling them for the urinalysis results. (I had been told that Dr. Morgan would call me within 3 days with the result.) When I finally called, I was told in a "who cares" kind of manner that the urinalysis was never done because I hadn't paid for it. They said they left me a voice mail which I never received. Again, my bad. Really! I was told that I would have to bring another urine sample and approve payment for the test. Thankfully my dog did not need immediate results from the test as I was there for a second opinion and my pet is under another vet's care. However, I am shocked that Dr. Morgan's clinic staff were so inefficient and neglectful. Only one attempt to follow-up and let me know what had happened (about a mistake on THEIR part with a new client) was sufficient and the end of their responsibility as far as their client care is concerned. Warning: If you take your pet there, make sure you closely question the staff to ensure they are doing their jobs properly. read more

I have been taking my foster cats and now my very own cat (!) to Dr. Lee Morgan for the past 10+ years. He and his veterinary technicians are knowledgeable and gentle in their handling of all kinds of kitties -- young, old, constipated, grumpy, not eating, lots of allergies, ear infections, etc. Dr. Morgan always explains everything he is doing and why he is recommending certain courses of treatment or action. He is a terrific neighborhood vet, and he coordinates information-sharing with my current cat's dermatology specialist at Friendship Hospital for Animals. Prices are reasonable, and in my experience, if your pet has a chronic health issue, Dr. Morgn doesn't immediately try to sell you the Lamborghini of veterinary treatment. Rather he starts with what usually works, and if that doesn't do the trick after a week or two, he will move up the ladder to the next type of treatment, and if that doesn't help, then he will propose the expensive nuclear option -- but he always balances that with your pet's quality of life. And if he thinks you need to push that Lamborghini into fifth gear for the sake of your animal's well-being from the get-go, he will tell you so. read more

I'm really shocked by some of the bad reviews on here. Overall this is the best veterinary office we've ever been to. It's not fancy, but Dr. Morgan is simply the best and everyone else we've met at the office have been great too, from the front desk to the vet techs. They are always on time and we've never waited more than 5 minutes for a scheduled appointment. Anyone who is complaining that they are overpriced has clearly never been to a vet in the DMV. We've been ripped off by vets before, especially out in the suburbs. This has never felt like the case at Dr. Morgan's office and the quality of care is so beyond any other vet we've had. We started taking our senior cat to Dr. Morgan when we moved to DC about 4 years ago. She had an existing diabetes diagnosis that we had really been struggling to keep in check under the guidance of our previous vet. Dr. Morgan was incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate. We never felt like he was rushing us when we had lots of questions or needed his time and he always made sure our cat was comfortable and that we knew what was going on. We had almost forgotten how nice it is to have a family vet who is on your side and treats your pet as their own. Any tests that Dr. Morgan had to perform were faster, less invasive, more accurate, and way less expensive than what we experienced with our previous vet. Under his care our cat actually went into remission from diabetes and no longer needed insulin. I'm fairly certain our choice to bring our cat to Dr. Morgan added many more years to her life than she would have had otherwise. As a result, she lived out an amazing life free of diabetes until the ripe old age of 18. Dr. Morgan and his staff were very compassionate when it came to dealing with the end of our sweet cat's life, which was beyond difficult for us after having her for 18 wonderful years. We look forward to bringing all our future cats to Dr. Morgan and recommend if you live in the area or are also dealing with a diabetic cat that you go see him too. read more

Super happy with Dr. Morgan and staff. Everyone is on the ball. No wait and everything was explained thoroughly. Dental cleaning was thorough (my dog is eating so much better now that the 2 decayed teeth are gone) and had a biopsy done at the same time. Fortunately it was benign. I appreciate that Dr. Morgan suspected it would be benign and didn't want to waste my money but I insisted on getting a biopsy (I previously had 2 dogs with cancer so I don't take chances). I loved how calming their office dog, Lucy was to my very skittish 7 pound toy poodle. I did my research and asked around when I moved to DC. I'm glad I did. My dog means everything to me. read more

I would not trust this practice. Save your money and go somewhere else in the city. This hospital will leave your pets blood work out over night at room temperature and run it next day with inaccurate results they also do the same for fecals. Also they have before not sent out fecals and will give owners false results. The Doctor tells every new patient that the puppy or kitten has a pop belly to make them have to pay for a dewormer. He will allow your pets to be under anesthesia without properly being monitored. If you really care about your pet do not go here. read more

I was nervous about finding a vet in the states after moving from South Africa (where we experienced top notch care) with my dog. Im so grateful to have landed at Dr. Morgan's practice. He has been thoughtful and holistic in his approach to our situation, and his empathy has really helped us through some tough decisions. Rather than put my dog through more invasive surgeries for her re-occurring cancer(s), he's worked with us to find a regimen of medications which has her feeling like her usual self as we enjoy the last of our time together. Georgetown Vet Hospital is a great place to take your animals. Dr. Morgan has been my cat's vet for about a year, and was a big help when she was having some issues. He took his time with me, answered all my questions, and tried a multi-pronged approach to the problem. He clearly cares about pets and their owners. His prices are very reasonable compared to everywhere else in the city. It is a small office so you will see the same people every time you go in there, including Dr. Morgan. The staff are all very nice and responsive. I have recommended him to friends who were unhappy with the care and prices at Friendship Animal Hospital and they switched over right away. read more

Overall fine, although my appointment was super easy! I brought my dog in to get updated shots and establish her as a patient. We made an appointment and had no wait on a Saturday. The new pet forms are on the website and you can email them to the address listed on the site beforehand. The doctor wasn't Dr. Morgan--I can't recall her name and she's not listed on the website, but she was knowledgeable and loved my little pup. (Perhaps she was the weekend vet?) The vet tech was ostensibly polite but seemed uninterested, which I thought was odd since vet offices are usually magnets for animal-loving people. They sell chewable heartworm and flea/tick prevention meds, although I had to ask about them. There were no price tags on them, but a 6 month supply of both cost me about $300. (Shudder, but typical I believe.) The visit itself was reasonable (~ $100 for visit + shots). And it was an extra $15 to get her nails trimmed, but that was worth the alternative of my dog hating me for doing it to her. ;-) read more

Dr Morgan is great. We took our 6 month male old kitten in yesterday to be desexed, which we were nervous about. Dr Morgan personally called soon after the op and said our kitten had done really well, was looking around, and said we could pick him up. He also offered to put in a microchip for us, which we did want. Then this morning the kitten seemed lethargic and was drooling so we rang and the front desk were really helpful, put Dr Morgan directly on the phone, and he was great - organized for us to take the kitten in again today. When we took him in Dr Morgan was wonderful, very attentive & concerned, but said our kitten seemed fine, and just incase he gave him an antibiotic shot. Then he refused to be paid - said the post operative care was his concern so we had to insist and even then he would only take payment for the antibiotic itself. In short we are so thankful to have such a wonderful vet to care for our kitten, with so many years of experience, and a people friendly manner. Nothing seems like too much trouble, he and his staff are friendly and the atmosphere in the clinic is relaxed and warm not clinical and ammonia smelling like some places. Definitely recommend and his pricing despite being in Georgetown is on par or cheaper than other nearby places. read more

My wife and I have been going to Dr Morgan to take care of our pet cat, Scout, for years, and we have nothing but positive things to say. My brother had been taking his pets to this clinic for years, and recommended Dr Morgan to us when our cat had a medical emergency a number of years ago. Dr Morgan quite literally saved Scout's life, and in the years since has provided excellent, highly compassionate care. We have also had nothing but good experiences with all the staff, and the costs have been very reasonable, so we have been quite surprised by some of the reviews here. Dr. Morgan has been my dog's vet for about 2 years now. Appointments have been easy to get. There is a 15-20 minute wait sometimes, but that is because he will work in emergency-type cases if he has any. Dr. Morgan is very friendly, and cares about my dog. He also gives follow up phone calls with test results. The price seems low compared to the other vets I have been to in DC. The price of a visit regularly exceeds the consultation fee, but that is because Dr. Morgan will perform tests and blood work if something is amiss with your pet. If you want a vet that doesn't do blood work, or one that isn't thorough, then maybe Dr. Morgan isn't for you. However, I find Dr. Morgan to be reasonably priced for high-quality care. read more

I adopted my first pet -- a one year old cat -- in 2002 and at the suggestion of a friend, I took her to Doctor Morgan. For the next 16 years I never had a bad experience. It's a friendly office, Dr. Morgan really listens to the pet owner's philosophies of pet ownership and I found his prices very reasonable. In fact, considering the place is located on one of the most expensive real estate strips in the entire city, I was surprised at how low the cost were. While I was visiting my friend, a veteran dog owner and trainer, found his 11 year old dog was bleeding from a tumor. The animal was clearly uncomfortable and the radiologist elsewhere identified a sizable tumor that looked like it was on the liver. When the animal wasn't eating, was swollen like a balloon and couldn't find a comfortable position to sleep in he brought his dog to Dr. Morgan to be euthanized. Dr. Morgan looked the dog over and asked if he could try to surgically remove the tumor -- for whatever my friend could pay. To make a long story short, the dog's still wagging its tail. Is there a better recommendation for a caring vet? read more

I hate this place. Years ago my sister's dog was treated here and ended up dying. Because I couldn't get an appointment anywhere else, I came here. Paid through the nose. They said they can't do biopsies on Saturday. It would have been nice to know this before they made me pay through the nose for 3 minutes with an idiot. Their whole attitude from the receptionist to the vet, who I didn't even know was a vet because she didn't introduce herself, is just so offsetting. In fact, I would like to see this woman's credentials because she didn't seem too knowledgeable. I will never ever go there again. Please do yourself a favor and learn from my mistakes. My cat has been having a lot of ear problems so I took him here after reading all of the good reviews. It was frankly an unprofessional and subpar visit. At one point the vet left the room and left the door open. My cat nearly bolted out and then was harassed by the "office cat" who came into the room. Their office cat is obviously a male Tom cat and it freaked my cat out. I was trying to hold my cat from running out the door while also trying to shoo the office cat out the door. After all that, the vet told me my cats problems were due to a build up of ear wax. She didn't even clean my cats ears and I had to ask her how and if I was supposed to do it. It was very unprofessional and I felt like she was just ready to leave work for the day and not deal with me. For $144 I expect a lot better service. read more

Dr. Morgan is wonderful. We have seen a lot of vets with our two cats (I think all of the vets in DC, and even Montgomery County), and no one has come close to his expertise, care and level of dedication. Usually, when blood work/tests are done on your animals, it takes days/weeks to get a call back with the results, but not with Dr. Morgan. He calls the next morning. His staff is kind and Dr. Morgan is always willing to give us the extra time we need to chat about diagnoses and solutions. Everyone there really goes the extra mile. what I like about him the most, is that he thinks outside of the box. He's constantly trying new things, especially if your pet has chronic illnesses. Very saddened today by our recent experience here, which ended a 50-year family relationship going back three generations of veterinarians. I do believe this clinic was significantly cavalier and offhand with the treatment of our cat, who almost died two nights ago as a result, but what really saddened me was the abusive call we received more than 48 hours after we made an emergency call to his receptionist. It involved repeated personal attacks and ended with the doctor hanging up on me as I was asking him to transfer records to another vet. I also agree with other reviews that the receptionist was rude, dismissive and made it clear that she could not care less, but it's the practice leader I'm so disappointed in. It's a bad way to end a relationship that goes back to the sixties, but my wife and I have felt compelled to end our relationship with this practice for our pets' own safety. And I would not have left this feedback on a public forum if the phone call with the veterinarian concerned - which included one important clinical request for the handover that he didn't give me the opportunity to make - had not ended with his abusing me and hanging up. We are now with another sensational vet who saved our cat's life right in front of us after a high-speed drive to their clinic when we got no help from Georgetown. We took our cat here after calling every single vet in the DMV area and finding the lowest exam fee here ($65 I think). We were seen very quickly and were astounded by how friendly and caring Dr. Morgan was. He answered all of my questions (and not in that rushed manner some doctors have) and even spent about ten minutes after the exam just chatting with me! If you love your pet, do not use Dr. Morgan. This story is difficult to explain via a Yelp review, but suffice to say that it took us one visit to Dr. Morgan with our newly rescued little dog to realize that Dr. Morgan is spectacularly atrocious. I always felt that being a Vet was a thankless and admirable profession but Dr. Morgan tried to destroy that image. He was both unprofessional and uncaring for a dog that already had been abused by his previous owners. His lack of compassion was surprising but worse yet, his unprofessionalism was stunning. I was shocked when he literally refused to take my call after he had seen my dog (I think because he was terrified of what I would say to him after the fact) even though I had simply called to ask his thoughts on what to do next to help our little boy. Even his staff nurses told me and my wife that they were horrified by his inability to attempt to help us and our dog and his stunningly cold-hearted approach toward a defenseless animal who needed his care. Worse yet, based on his nursing and administrative staff's lack of surprise, it seemed they had seen Dr. Morgan act this way before; perhaps it's his routine with helpless rescues. Note: this is my first -- and likely my last -- Yelp review because I usually don't care enough to take the time to draft thoughts on businesses. However, I felt so strongly about this that I wanted to insure that all others were forewarned of Dr. Morgan and his practice. If you are in Washington and looking for a vet for an animal you love, don't ever venture to Georgetown to see Dr. Morgan. Personally, I feel that Friendship Heights Animal Hospital is amazing. Dr. Morgan is a very nice person and his office was conveniently located for me. Sadly I feel he lacks a type of experience and therefore judgement which impacted two of my dogs. I had an elderly dog that I could tell was not feeling well. Instead of advising me he could not do a sonagram or that it was an option he only xrayed and said my dog only had arthritis. My dog died a month later. I believe a more experience vet could have sent me to a clinic with more testing tools. My dog died in his sleep and most likely had a canine cancer. My new dog and 1 year old beagle contacted a canine influenza [unknown at the time but all the dogs were sick at the day care] and he prescribed the wrong antibiotics. I could tell my dogs lungs more each day were filling up with fluid he advised me just to stay with my normal appointment which was 5 days away. I immediately went to a more experience vet and within a day the new medications that were prescribed got my dog on the track within 24 hours. Personally I feel his intentions are good but he lacks experience and judgement in times of trouble and therefore is a liability. read more

Be careful. I had to demand my money back for mis diagnosis of a serious condition with my dog and a poor exam of a new pup I brought to Dr. Morgan. I found him "scatter brained". I had enough sense to seek another opinion that saved my dogs life. Luckily my pup is in good health because he gave a 2 min exam and charged through the roof. I demanded my money back. It helped I grew up as a Vet tech and now a "people" doc, knowing that , besides I spend alot of money on pets... Morgan would go out of his way to at least appear that he knew what hes doing. I really can't say enough nice things about Dr. Morgan and Kris. This is a mom and pop shop without all the costs and drama of the larger vets that change doctors every 10 minutes and who charge for a ton of stuff they can't diagnose. Dr. Morgan is just so fair and reasonable, and I have never once felt that he overcharged me or that he did anything unnecessary. Don't let the Georgetown address fool you, this place is totally affordable and Dr. Morgan really knows his stuff. I agree with negative reviews of this vet. I brought my cat who was 2 and started vomiting after each feeding without an apparent reason, and losing weight. I was told I needed tests, and then more tests, and then more tests ("just to rule things out"). So $600 later Dr. Morgan (who does have a nice "bedside manners" btw) told me he really had no idea what was wrong with the cat, but he thought the change of the diet might help. They sold me a very expensive diet which of course did not help. I was extremely disappointed. 10 minutes of google search gave me more information my cat's condition than 3 visits I had to this vet. I would not recommend this vet for the cats, anyway. Maybe he's better with dogs. read more

I agree with above that Dr. Morgan is incredibly loving and caring of pets. However, I disagreein the jacked up prices part. I grew up in miami and THERE vet prices are ridiculously high, the georgetown vet is a nice change from that. He doesnt charge follow ups, and recently I had to take my dog there for surgery and he tried to keep the surgery price down, I truly believe he tries hard NOT to jack up the prices so that review seems strange to me. In addition, I had to keep my puppy in overnight because of the surgery, and he said i could take him to friendship, which would cost almost double what he was charging AND he ended up taking my puppy to his home to keep an eye on him, with no extra charge. I feel very comfortable with Dr. Morgan as my vet and this place deserves all 5 stars! read more
