They are compassionate, professional, and take the time to get to know you and answer every question that you have. I've had a few scary issues arise, and they solved each and every one. But where is the help for patient's, im pretty sure there is some type of hardship program in place for thoes who need help. But would it be offered.. No!! My brother was scheduled for surgery at the building of st Joseph to get a call from Georgia eye because he didn't have the 287.00 dollars for the Dr's fee before surgery. Dr. Ray was thorough and professional, and I felt I was in very competent hands. I'm giving 4 stars only because of two issues. When I made the appointment, I was told it was at 2:00 p.m., but when I arrived, I was informed it had actually been scheduled for 1:25 p.m. Thankfully, they were able to fit me in, but it was a bit frustrating. Also, my personal information was entered incorrectly, which created some insurance confusion. I was assured it was corrected and hope that's the case. Other than that, the experience was excellent. The staff was very friendly, the facility was immaculate (even with some areas still under construction), and I would definitely return and recommend Dr. Ray. He isn't overly bubbly, but I'm there for skilled, professional care--and that's exactly what I received. read more

My wife has been a patient at Georgia Eye for many years. Always a long wait but her doctor was very good and in high demand. Her doctor left in August to start a private practice. At the last appointment at Georgia eye my wife completed all paperwork for transfer of medical records. Now over six months later this has not been completed. She has called and can never get to talk to a person, only voice mail. None of her phone calls have been returned. No records transferred. Continuing requests from doctor as well, and no response. I see Dr. Piros and I really appreciate her competence. I have found that the office runs like clockwork when your doctor is not on call for emergencies, but if they are on call, there may be long delays. If I am the emergency though, I would appreciate that care being available to me so I don't mind waiting. I've had bilateral cataract surgery, which went extremely well, as well as pellets inserted for glaucoma, which also went extremely well. read more

I have been a patient at Georgia Eye for several years but I will never use their optical shop again. I purchased over $1,500 with a new of pair of frames and lenses for both regular glasses and prescription sunglasses. The paint was chipping off the very expensive Nike frames so they were replaced and covered by my warranty which should have been a manufacturer issue. 3 months after receiving my new frames they broke into on the nose piece and they would not cover under warranty. The manager of the optical shop would not even get on the phone and had the receptionist relay the message to me. I searched to try to find the same or similar frames to avoid replacing the lense. Finally, Whitney at My Eye Dr located the same frame and loaned me a frame until my replacement is received. I will definitely use My Eye Dr on all future prescriptions. read more

Recommended. Competent medical service and advice. Unnecessary, bureaucratic, customer-deterring processes. This business is so busy that it can be difficult to get an appointment at any time of the year in less than 30 days notice. After a several visits to this business at their Richmond Hill office (5-Stars) for evaluation, I was referred to the Savannah location for a consult with a surgeon (Deich) to address cataracts. After waiting for 45-minutes at their Savannah location (where surgeries are performed), a staff examiner and then the doctor performed the same examinations as performed earlier at the Richmond Hill, GA office and, recommended surgery. I already knew that surgery was in order. I wanted to know my options and the costs. I was summarily dismissed by the surgeon and told a scheduler would call to relate all necessary information. I asked when surgery might occur. The answer: probably January 2022. The scheduler did not call. When I called the scheduler about 3-4 days after my visit, I was told April 2022 is the earliest date I could get surgery. This visit raises several questions: 1. Why was I referred for a surgery consult only to get another eye examination with a recommendation/referral for surgery that I already had from another office in the same practice? 2. Why was the callback by the scheduler not prompt? 3. Why is April 2022 the earliest date I could get for surgery? With cataracts, the issue is timely treatment. Otherwise, permanent loss of vision can occur and treatment is more difficult the longer cataracts remain untreated. So, what's the story with the Georgia Eye Institute at this location? I infer they have too much business. The lobby was chock full of customers. Local social media boards cite this place as a service center for veteran care. Perhaps they are overwhelmed with requests for service. Tip: If you need cataract surgery, visit a larger nearby market for prompt service. To resolve the situation I visited the Florida Eye Specialists in Fernandina Beach, Florida. In less than two hours, I had a complete eye exam, recommendations with options for surgery, a complete layout of costs and post-operative care, and dates set up for surgery within 30-days of my initial visit. I am very disappointed in this office. My husband has been patiently waiting for 2 months for his upcoming cataract removal which is supposed to be this Monday September 23, and I asked him to call there because they have sent NOTHING as a reminder for this. He cannot see well out of the eye that has the cataract. Now they say he has to go in at a totally different time that day to have his eye measured, as in, a new appointment. He even has a card from that office stating his surgery was Monday afternoon. WHAT??? I even requested to take this day off from work to drive him. He is very disappointed he has to WAIT AGAIN. I have to find a new eye doctor now because they keep on billing me for $50. I don't know I've been going through this for 7 years that I've been going there. I've talked to Dr Deich about it and last year he got it off the bill and then two months ago or three months ago they instead of bill me $45 which was the original charge. They put $50 back on my bill. Now they banned me from appointments they won't let me talk to Dr Deich. They had a billing room call me back. This is the way they treat people they are terrible human beings that work for really nice doctors and now I don't know how I'm gonna find a new doctor. I'm so interesting if Eye doctors have to be misdiagnosed with glaucoma. My insurance pays every other bill 100% but it will not pay this $50 because they know they're not supposed to be filling it for me because I've never asked for it. I was recommended the Optical Shop at Georgia Eye Institute by a friend. The Ophthalmologists here are out of network with my insurance, so I received my eye exam else ware and brought my glasses prescription to the Optical Shop. When I entered the shop, I was greeted by Venice. I told her I was looking for sunglasses for running, that were still fashionable. I usually have a hard time finding frames that fit my face, but she said she had the perfect frames in the back and brought them out for me. It was a perfect fit! She offered me all of the lens extras (anti glare, polarized, Blue IQ, etc.). I basically built my own pair in less than 30 minutes. The glasses were ready for pick up in 2 weeks, and I received a call letting me know. When I visited, it was during the Covid-19 Pandemic. There was a nurse at the door taking temperatures and screening patients for symptoms. The waiting room chairs were socially distant and marked off with tape to ensure people were 6 feet apart. Masks were worn by all employees and visitors. Overall, this was an easy glasses shopping experience and I would return! read more

You have the rudest receptionist I have EVER encountered in my entire life! Definitely not being dramatic. I am a former patient of Dr.Deich and have not been in to see him in years since my insurance carrier changed. And now that he's in my network my carrier said I could see him. When I call to make an appt the woman talked over me every time I tried to speak and was not nasty I just hung up! I have several family members who are a patient here as well and I will be informing them of what happened and let them decide if they want to leave your practice. Maybe your office manager should screen the incoming calls for a new patient trying to make an appt. Wow! I'm going elsewhere even though I think very highly and respect Dr.Deich and saw him for well over 10 years....this is not the treatment from your staff that I want to encounter. read more

What a horrible experience. I had an 11:50 appointment and arrived at 11:45. There was no receptionist, so I signed in on the sign in sheet, at 11:45. After 18 minutes, I went and stood in front of the empty receptionist desk and was eventually called over by a worker around the corner of the desk and was checked in. After another five minutes a brusque lady came over and said I had checked in late so they were rescheduling me for 1:30 as the employees needed their lunch break. I left for good. read more

I was trying to schedule an appt as a new patient & had such a confusing phone call where I got transferred to a different location, before I had the chance to say anything and then was told the other location didn't accept my insurance even though it was under my insurance provider list, and then got transferred back to the original location I called but was on hold for a while so ultimately didn't end up scheduling an appt. I was referred to Dr. Manocha by my regular optometrist because he thought I may have a tear in my retina. Dr Monacha sent me straight to Dr. King who performed a laser process and then a vitrectomy. They told me the vitrectomy would cause my cataract to worsen, which it did. Dr. Manocha was then the one to perform cataract surgery. He let me know that I now have 20/20 vision in that eye! He is very thorough and a very kind and caring individual He told me that if I have any issues, to please call. His staff is also very kind. read more

I called with an issue and concern, Katrina informed that the first available appointment is not until next week. For the last several days i had been receiving messages to report for my appointment on Monday Oct 2 at 2:40 PM, I arrived approx 2:15 PM. When I checked in at the desk i was told my appointment was not until 310 PM. I sat there patiently waiting to be called while people kept arriving and registering, Around 3.30 PM they started calling people who had arrived after me . I made several inquiries asking why people were being called before i was. the receptionist, left her desk and returned giving me a response that i was going to be called soon. Around 3:40 someone came out and called for me. After waiting for more than two hours, I decided i did not want to be seen allowing another patient who arrived after me to be seen. The only response i received was "Sorry! After waiting 6 months for the appointment and taking time off from work i am not a happy camper. I would not recommend the Pooler office to anyone. I was able to call another practice in pooler, I was able to schedule an appointment for Thursday October 5th with a Dr qualified to treat patients with diabetes. Too large a network, too many patients shuffled through in any given day. To say the office staff has the charm of a government worker perhaps at the DMV office would be an insult to DMV workers everywhere. (An exception is the receptionist at the Bluffton, SC location, he is a joy!) Understand there are multiple locations and the doctors work at different locations through the week or any given month. If you have an appointment at one location, the number your reminder comes from might originate elsewhere. You never know who you have reached, what city they are in. While waiting at check-in, every customer who checked out had a complaint at the desk. Multiple prompts to check in for your appointment, even if you already confirmed previously. Billing problems. I had a referral for a different Ophthalmologist but I wanted to get my eyeglasses at the same facility. After going to Georgia Eye Institute, I realize I made a big mistake. I came for new glasses and to monitor my eyes for future eye related issues. The appointment with Dr Bromeli was quick with no chatter and no time for questions. I think she would have been fine spending 30 seconds in the room. She was gone in under 2 minutes. The eye glasses experience was better. The people were friendly and helpful but I felt like my frames were too big. They attempted to tighten or bend them but nothing seemed to help. In the end, I kept the frames. The script seems to be fine and they don't fall off my head so it might just be me. I would give the eyeglass department 3-4 stars and the doctor 1. When my insurance allows my next eye exam, I think I will look for a new place. read more

While I myself am not the patient here, I've had family members come here for surgery, glasses, and doctor's appointments. All services have had a different level in the quality of care. From what I gather, the outpatient surgery center is the best with care. They made my family member and myself feel welcome and taken care of. The lady at the front desk is always kind and the nurses behind the scene have a sense of humor when it comes to dealing with the primarily older patients. Plus the surgeries have brought about absolutely successful results. The eye glass shop is the worst. I had a family member bring in an eye frame to be fitted with lenses. They said it take a certain period of time, I think a week to 10 days. It turned out that the lab they use broke the frame, but the eye glass shop kept saying they were working on the glasses. The whole ordeal took a month, when it seems like the frame broke early on. There was a lot of run around instead of quickly getting to the point about the situation. That was an extremely annoying and unpleasant experience. Like I said, this is a mixed service establishment. I hope your experience is on the better end. read more

After waiting 3 months for my appointment, I arrived and checked in and learned my appointment was with the wrong type of doctor. I was there for a medical eye issue and they had me scheduled for a routine eye exam. The receptionist was incredibly rude and dismissive when I asked about it. Another receptionist, who was even ruder than the first, basically yelled at me and said I could see the optometrist and possibly pay out of pocket if insurance didn't cover it, or I could cancel or reschedule. I reluctantly rescheduled and the soonest they could get me back in was another 3 months. I have cancelled that appointment. These 5 stars are ONLY for two specific doctors at GA Eye: Dr. Robert King (eye surgeon) and Dr. Christopher Hinson (optometry). Dr. King performed my retinal repair surgeries. Dr. Hinson has been my optometrist for over 2 years. They are both outstanding, and I couldn't recommend them more highly. I have complicated vision issues that need close attention. When one of my retinas started detaching and I knew it, another eye surgeon examined me because Dr. King was out at the time. That guy insisted that there was nothing wrong and sent me away. I went to Dr. King on a later date, he found it immediately, and performed repair surgery that same day. I will trust NO other eye surgeon. Annual exam/optometrist: there are quite a few at GA Eye. My first try was not to be repeated. I'm glad I tried again! After researching reviews, the next year I went to Dr. Hinson. He really listens, treats you like an individual who deserves specialized attention, and is very serious about caring for a patient who may have a variety of eye issues. As of now, I'm enjoying the sharpest, best vision correction I've had in my adult life. Completely different type of contacts Dr. Hinson recommended, and new glasses that are dealing with multiple vision issues. It took over 2 weeks to get my glasses, but well worth it. Just one of the processes applied to my lenses took 4 full days in the lab to complete. If you want it done RIGHT and you can be a little patient, go to GA Eye and Dr. Hinson. Front desk and optical shop: these areas have improved a great deal since I first started visiting GA Eye. They are downright delightful to deal with. In fact, it was Claudette in the optical shop who explained the interesting steps taking place in the lab on my particular glasses. It's clear that she loves her work and helping people. read more
