I was referred to Schulze Eye & Surgery Center for cataract surgery on April 15, 2026, by Low Country Eye in Richmond Hill. I was told someone would call soon from Schulze Eye to schedule an appointment. Almost one month goes by and no word from Schulze Eye. Thinking I might have missed their call, I dropped by the office of Schulze Eye on May 7, 2026, to see if I could schedule an appointment. I met with a friendly black lady at the front desk who informed me that I had not missed a call that, in fact, the person who processes referrals has been out on leave and that she would most certainly call me within a week. That did not happen. On May 18, 2026, I received a call on my cell phone which indicated "Potential Spam". Of course, I did not answer. However, upon immediately checking my voice mail, the call was from Schultz Eye, requesting that I call them back to schedule an appointment. I called back right away and was transferred to their voice mail. I left a message with my identifying information, requesting that someone call me to schedule an appointment. Today is May 27, 2026, and I have yet to hear from anyone at Schulze Eye Center. Obviously, scheduling appointments is not a top priority at Schulze Eye and staff are not being held accountable. Such I attention to patient needs makes me question patient care at this facility. I suppose I'll be calling Low Country Eye for referral to another provider. read more

Dr. Schulze is knowledgeable and accomplished in his field, but his office is anything but patient centric. It was almost impossible to call and actually have someone answer the phone. Their automation system wouldn't even allow me to leave a message for a call back. 40 minutes (or more) wait times with an appointment were not uncommon for me during my year long experience with this practice, only to have 5 minutes of attention max from the doctor. Typical scenario in healthcare today, but not acceptable. For note: I left Georgia Eye for this practice and found it was no better. read more

I went for an ICL consultation back in November 2018 after researching the procedure and doctors for 2 years. The ENTIRE staff made me feel comfortable during the consultation. Immediately, I knew I had found the right place after talking with Dr. Schulze. He was very informative, patient, professional, personable, but more importantly, he provided an honest evaluation. The sight in my left eye was really bad and he gave me his honest opinion and I truly appreciated that. My first procedure, scheduled for May 2019, was the peripheral iridotomy (PI) before the actual ICL surgery. Dr. Schulze let me know upfront what to expect. We had to postpone the surgery to July 2019 because he went to a conference and found out more about a particular lens that was made for people with eyesight such as mine. He decided I needed it and had one made for me. The day of my ICL, I was beyond nervous, but the surgical team was beyond AMAZING. I had my second and last surgery on yesterday. Today, one day after surgery in my right eye, I'm seeing with 20/20 vision. I am so thankful and appreciative of EVERY SINGLE person, from the front desk to Dr. Schulze, for every part they played in my ICL experience. I was looking for a doctor that could help me with the problem I had. Dr. Schulze did find the problem, called prism. However, he sent me to another doctor to take care of the problem. When I went back to him for a second opinion for my cataract, I discussed with him the possibility of not wearing glasses again. He suggested that he could perform surgery that would allow me to not wear glasses with the exception of possible reading glasses or an occasional use of a magnifying glass. Unfortunately, prism cannot be corrected by surgery and requires the use of corrective lenses. Because Dr. Schulze did not remember this, it cost me $3,000 and Medicare paid about the same amount to him and I still have to wear corrective lenses. Unnecessary surgery for a problem that could not be corrected by surgery because he forgot his original diagnosis. Beware of greedy doctors and unnecessary procedures. read more

Dr. Schulze did a perfect job correcting my vision. I had photorefractive keratectom (PRK). Both of my eyes had astigmatism. It takes time to fully recover from this surgery to get to one hundred percent the vision correction as Dr. Schulze explained to me. I'm there now and at 42 years old, I honestly wish I would have had corrective surgery at the age of 19 when I started wearing corrective lenses. Dr. Schulze explained every step of the surgery from his perspective. It was amazing quite frankly to watch it performed from my perspective. You will see what he's doing every step of the way and it's pretty amazing. Before I chose Dr. Schulze I did my homework. I asked eye doctors. I asked friends that worked for eye doctors. I asked general doctors that are friends. Of course I Googled which can be scary. Everyone and every search led me to Dr. Schulze. I'm one hundred percent satisfied. Dr. Schulze truly has a talent. By the way, Dr. Schulze performed my PRK last summer. I do not normally take the time to write reviews like this but I told myself after the wonderful experience I had with Dr. Schulze and his office that I would take the time once I knew without a doubt that my vision was perfect. It is at that point, it has been to that point for several months now actually. I'm very happy with the outcome. Yesterday, I was having a small plastic surgery procedure performed by one of the top plastic surgeons in Savannah. I mentioned that I had PRK performed by Dr. Schulze to him and he told me that he also used him for his corrective surgery. Just one more positive comment for Dr. Schulze.
