I haven't been able to pay a bill without them disconnecting my service and then I end up paying all of the reconnect fees and the bill that was suppose to be 123$ a month turns into 350$ because of the fees. I have my account set up for autopay but they never take the money with autopay and then when I try to go on the app to pay the app tells me that the money will be taken on a certain day with autopay but never happens! then they disconnect my service because I "didn't" pay!!! I work 12 hour shifts and I don't have time to sit on a phone call to make a payment that's what the app is suppose to be there for!!! apparently the app is just there to make you think you don't have to make the payment! this is so freaking frustrating and annoying because once I pay everything up AGAIN I end up having to wait 2 days before service is restored so cold showers for 2 days!! this has literally happened 3 times in the past 6 months!!! read more

I had been a loyal customer of Georgia Natural Gas and always paid my bills on time. Unfortunately, my experience over the past several months has been extremely frustrating. My fixed-rate plan expired and I admittedly overlooked the renewal emails. However, when my bill suddenly jumped to over $500 in December, I immediately called customer service to understand what happened. The representative explained that my plan had moved to a variable rate and I paid the bill in full during that call. Before ending the call, I specifically asked if my account was now in good standing and was told that it was. Two months later I was shocked to learn that I owed nearly $1,700 more because the variable rate had continued to apply to additional billing cycles. When I called back, another representative told me that customers are supposed to be informed that elevated bills can continue for one or two billing cycles. The problem is: I was never told that. A supervisor later confirmed they listened to the call recording and acknowledged that their representative did not provide that information. Despite acknowledging the mistake, the company still expected me to pay most of the charges. I ultimately paid the balance to avoid further issues, but the resolution offered did not reflect the fact that their own employee failed to properly explain the situation. Mistakes happen, but accountability matters. When a company confirms their representative gave incomplete information and the customer made decisions based on that information, the burden shouldn't fall entirely on the customer. A complete bait and switch. Started off at 39.00 a month, then all of a sudden, it jumped to over 150.00 a month. I have been given the runaround by customer service for weeks with no resolution. Extremely Predatory Practices I want to warn other consumers about what I believe are extremely predatory rate practices by Georgia Natural Gas. My natural gas rate suddenly jumped to $2.499 per therm, which is an outrageous price compared to normal market rates around $1. This kind of pricing feels less like normal fluctuation and more like a trap for customers who don't constantly monitor their contracts. This resulted in a monthly bill of over $525 in a small place occupied by 1 person. After seeing the rate, I contacted Georgia Natural Gas and was told the only option available was to switch to a different rate plan. However, I was informed that the new rate would not take effect for at least two billing cycles, meaning I am still required to pay this extremely high rate in the meantime and for two more billing cycles. Nothing could be done about current or future bills. Because of this situation, I submitted a complaint to the Georgia Public Service Commission so that the issue is at least documented. Consumers should be aware that if their contract expires or rolls into a variable rate, they could suddenly find themselves paying $2.499 per therm or more before they even realize what happened. I strongly recommend that you not sign up for Georgia Natural Gas, or if it is too late, switch as soon as their contract expires. Georgia Natural Gas, you should be ashamed of yourself. read more

I utilized Georgia Natural Gas at my old apartment from April 2023 to October 2025. I moved in October of 2025 due to a hate crime making my living situation at the time unviable. The new home I moved into did not use natural gas, so I did not transfer my GNG plan. During the stressful move process, I forgot to cancel my GNG plan, which is my mistake! I realized this due to seeing the utility charge on my bank statement in January of 2026. After realizing I had missed canceling that utility, I logged into my account looking for an option to cancel and stop service. I had read in the past that GNG could be canceled online. So as I was browsing my account options, I saw the option to "Remove an account" from my profile. I removed the account and thought my account had been closed out. I even tried to access the account number to verify it was in fact removed and was no longer able to see my account. Since my account number no longer existed, I understood that meant it was closed. Lo and behold, I get another GNG bill in February. After calling customer support, they insisted I had to *call* to close my account and said that was the only way to close it. I looked up and saw that it could be done online, but required a form to be submitted. That is not stated anywhere on your GNG profile. I asked to speak to a manager about reversing the last charge in February since it was after I had removed the account, and it does not make any logical sense to allow users to remove an account from their profile that is still active and billing their bank. The manager said that GNG is not responsible for user profiles and does not control user profiles. GNG is responsible for their own website, as well as the confusing user interface on the customer account profiles. There should not be an option to remove an active billing account from a profile at all, and GNG *is* responsible for misleading its customers in that regard. Despite their own misleading user interface, and despite being a consistent customer that paid on-time for 2.5 years, they refused to reverse the single $50 charge. Horrible customer service. I will never use GNG again, and would recommend that no one else uses their services. read more

Very complicated with poor customer service; take into consideration if reconnection is needed. Maybe now I understand why offer better prices. It took me almost an hour to contact and get help. First, people, please make sure to pay on time, always... But then if you have issues or need a reconnection, make sure to prepare, be patient, and breathe.  We needed a reconnection service. Called first. The system offers to call you back when someone is available. I took it. They called me and hung out, before I couldn't even hit the green button to answer. I called back. Waited for more than 20 minutes. They took the call... I needed a reconnection service, but I couldn't find out how to access it through the website. They say, "Oh no, you have to call us to do that. You must pay a fee and a deposit. If paid by phone, an additional fee of $1.99 applies. The best way to do it is through the app. After you pay, we need to set an appointment by phone". I said, "Ok, I didn't know an app existed." I will download it. Please wait for me there. While on the phone, I downloaded the suggested app and logged in, but there were no options to make the mentioned payment.The person said they didn't know how the app works well. She couldn't really guide me to use the app. I said, "Wow, this is all very complicating and confusing." I hope I never have to go through this. She said then that payment must be made by phone, and the $1 must be paid.99 extra. However, she can make a special note to avoid the fee of $1.99 as a compliment to me. Took it. Then, she said if the debit card you intend to use is not on file, we will need to go through a system (or something extra for security reasons). "Oh, wow, more complicated," I said. We finalized the pyment and the appointment was set for 2 days after. She also said that they could send email reminders about payments, which our account did not have.  Took it. I hope my fee will be returned as promised and the service will be restored. read more

GA natural gas customer service just tried to trick me into paying someone else's debt. My evicted tenant owes about $240 to GA natural gas. When I call the company to start new service at my rental property, customer service told me that I have to pay off the tenant's bill before gas service can be started. We just bought a new house. The prior owners had Georgia Natural Gas (GNG). We called GNG and told them we wanted to "stay on the prior owner's plan". But, they did not put us on the prior owner's plan. They instead put us on a variable rate plan which charges about 4.5X the market rate, ripping us off with a nearly $700 bill for a single month. They also informed us that even if we changed the plan, the next bill would still reflect the higher rate since it takes "1 to 2 billing cycles to change your plan". This company is run by SCAMMERS. DO NOT USE GEORGIA NATURAL GAS. 1st Update: After about 3 hours on the phone with different representatives, they agreed to let us switch to a cheaper plan for the current billing cycle, so the second bill should be normal rather than artificially inflated. For the inflated bill they only gave us $25 of a courtesy credit, so we're still basically paying 4X what we should. 2nd Update: After writing a formal letter and also contacting the BBB, GNG agreed to an additional $125 courtesy credit. So in the end we "only" overpaid by about 2.5X the market rate for the first month of service. Conclusion: I believe they make a substantial amount of money by trying to get people into the variable rate plan, which is essentially a scam plan relative to the other plans (even a mere 2-month contract is something like 7 times cheaper!) This doesn't appear unique to GNG but rather all of the marketers for Atlanta Gas Light do this. Xoom Energy for example has a variable rate plan that appears cheap but then the charges explode (in the fine print) to a cost that is "at their discretion" but which I now know is 10-20X the initially stated cost. An employee of AGL confirmed to us that this is what AGL and its marketers all do, and they've hit a lot of "little old ladies who don't know any better" with exorbitant bills through this trick. They also will not let you know when your contract expires, so the "default" plan (if you forget to reup your contract) is the scam plan. I guess the fundamental issue is that AGL is a monopoly, and the only option for Georgia residents. Without competition, they have no market pressure to improve their business practices. read more

So, I've been with them for over a decade - coming on 7 years at my current house. They screw old customers more than new. I saw my renewal rate was significantly higher than anywhere else. They offered 69c per therm online. Other natural gas providers ranged from 55 to 65. I contacted them and said that I would like to stay with them, but can they do anything with me. They said- sure, what they can offer me is 79c per therm!!! (range 77-79 depending on plan. They said it multiple times so it's not a typo. I looked online again, and my renewal says 67 now... So still higher than other places, but if you contact them I guess that's the biggest F-U - they charge you more!!! That's some exceptionally terrible service. read more

The worst customer service ever! If I could give them a negative rating or a 0 star I would cause they don't deserve even a single star. Here's what happened: I called them to switch from my current gas provider to them. They set up my account and told me my service would start from the 1st of the next month and no action is required on my end. Well, that was all BS! My gas was turned off on the 1st and GNG didn't start their service. After call them again (1 month after my initial call), they say they'll have to start the enrollment process all over again and hey there's a one-time $60 dollar connection fee, which they NEVER mentioned during my first call. Moreover, this was a switch from one service to another so no one-time connection fee is required. It is only required when you're starting a new service from scratch (not switching from another one) -- I asked them to remove the fee since it wasn't mentioned but of course they didn't. Also, during my first call a month ago, the agent I first spoke to couldn't even find my address and put me on hold for 10+ mins. After I hung up and called again and spoke to a different agent, she was able to find my address in a few seconds but she sucked at her job too cause she didn't set up my account properly, didn't inform me of the process of switching services and completely fucked up my account set up. CUSTOMER SERVICE ADMITTED TO RIPPING US OFF Do not agree to do business with Georgia Natural Gas. They are dishonest and take advantage of their clients. We used Georgia Natural Gas seasonally. In 2022 we had no issues. We called back to turn the gas back on for 2023 and were made aware of a seasonal plan that sounded great. However this plan was 6x the going rate per therm if you did not sign up for the a seasonal annual plan. A seasonal annual plan that there was no mention of and not even inquired about. What the hell is a seasonal annual plan anyways? Wouldn't seasonal imply that they would have come back and turn our gas plan on next year. At first our bill seemed reasonable but it got to the point that it was almost A FOURTH of our mortgage. The cherry on top was when we called to voice our displeasure with certain things not being relayed to us from our plan at the beginning. The account manager had the nerve to tell us exactly how much the price per therm could have been when we signed up. SHE EVEN ADMITTED THAT SHE RIPPED US OFF. Nothing she could do though, her managers wouldn't approve anything even if she tried. Times are tough out here and this is just another company full of corporate greed taking advantage of people who are just trying to make it work. read more

"Georgia" Natural Gas sounds legit and will lull you into feeling secure and satisfied with your gas provider. "Georgia" implies that somehow they are 'official' and safe. I feel really sorry for the elderly citizen on a fixed budget because these viscious wolves will wait quietly until your contract ends so that they can rip you off for 4 - 5x the rate/Therm you thought you were paying. And they'll sit by quietly, knowing that a large percentage of their loyal customers are paying them through their noses. By the time you notice the irregularity in your inflated bill, and you call them, their call-center lackey will read you their well-worn script that it explains that your $900 bill is your responsibility and that you should have known. What kind of people can profit on their customers' vulnerability? If you're here researching GNG as a potential customer; be forewarned. If you're an existing (loyal) customer, mark your contract end date in red on your calendar; and get out! -that is your freedom date...
