The AI phone system sucks! GP sent me an email about a new flat bill rate but when I clicked the link to view it I was launched into the vortex of hell. Worst loop ever. Tried to resolve issue through chat but that was completely useless so I got stuck in another loop when I went old school and called to speak with a human. FINALLY, I got connected to the best customer service rep ever called Ariel. She researched and spoke to supervisors but to no avail. Absolutely corrupt company hiding behind fake "we're here to help" marketing. They quietly raised my flat rate by $50/month without notice or time to respond. When I called, I asked how my usage compared--and it turns out I was paying more than I used almost every month. So I asked: wouldn't it make more sense to switch to a per-usage rate? The rep agreed. I confirmed--will that start next billing cycle? She said yes. Cut to: a $353.90 bill. Nearly double what I'd been paying. You can't get anyone on the phone, and when you finally do? They don't care. I've been on the phone with them for over an hour and am left with a "someone will call you ok?" They could not care less. This isn't customer service. It's predatory billing. Georgia Power Marketplace: I ordered two ecobee thermostats. They sent me two computer mouses. I contacted them and they did send correct order. However, I paid $130 each for thermastat installation and one was dead. It had no tape seal so probably used. I have an apt. Building in VAHI. An engineer came out yesterday (without contacting me) and I spoke with him and he told me there was an inside problem and they would need to turn off power. I got it done by noon and was told power would be back up by 3 pm. At 6:30 I spoke with another individual who said it hasn't been scheduled yet. I am looking at paying for all my tenants refrigerated food and more. This is a nightmare!!! I am new to Georgia, moved into my place two weeks ago. I was asked to pay two different fees including a security deposit prior to service being started. I paid over 200 the same day they asked me, they sent me a message saying my service was scheduled to be turned on. But then sent another email saying they can't turn it on because I needed to pay. I got to them asap letting them know I paid already, and what else is needed. No apologies received, I was just told my service would be on in three business days. Well I haven't gotten anywhere. Georgia Power has found a way to avoid responsibility for maintaining their equipment. The transformer outside my house frequently malfunctions, especially in August. On a recent sunny day, the transformer popped, causing a power outage in my home. Everything came back on within a minute, except for my air conditioning unit. I had two different companies inspect it, and both confirmed that the circuit board and motor were burned out due to a power surge. When I contacted Georgia Power to file a claim, they told me that a tree limb had fallen in the neighborhood, causing the transformer to pop, and labeled it an act of nature. They claimed there was nothing they could do. This is very disappointing. I wish we could all use this excuse to avoid taking responsibility for our work--everything is an act of nature. read more

I called on a Sunday after just finding out the limbs in my neighbors yard were in fact, hanging and sagging a power line. Up until last week I thought it was just a cable line or something. So with the supposed ice/snow coming Tuesday, I called Sunday. The guy was prompt in coming out and when I opened the door to tell him how sorry I was about calling on a weekend, his response was "it's not the first time it's happened ". As an on call hospice nurse, can u imagine me saying that to a patients family when I get called out for a concern?
