Afternoon Tea at the Georgian is an impeccable event. They provide a set menu with many different dishes and styles of elegant cuisine and amazing servers such as Nicoli will treat you like royalty. For an additional set price of £ 5 one can enjoy the continued legacy of Afternoon Tea at Harrods' since 1911 with something called 'Past Present Future' which are Teas such as the 1849 ShiLankian-Japanese fusion \ rose-set or the future fusion of tea that has notes of rose-hips, as well as, chilli pepper. The tea cakes are incredibly orchestral. The tomato sandwich on beautiful bread with light adornments of pop corn with pop corn. A dessert slice is served simultaneously olive oil and vanilla and a decorated berry and deep chocolate dense piece. I loved the cucumber sandwich with lines of cream and scone service with 4 types of compote to accompany them. The presentation is beautiful served hot in their own wooden chest. The recent interior redesign pays homage to the coronation of King George which apparently took place here within the store that is now the showroom for Prada. Everything about this space has been meticulously curated and matches its legacy to perfection. They have been serving High Tea and Afternoon Tea since 1911. Nicola was a phenomenal server from the beginning to the end and I look forward to requesting him as our captain of our the afternoon tea at The Georgian again. This was a lovely find while shopping in Harrod's. Dined here for supper. Tried the crab tart for appetizer and the turbot for a main course. Both were fantastic - inventive yet approachable and flavorful. Loved the sparkling tea. The service was top notch - I felt very well cared for by all of the staff. Musician played the piano and sung - very talented. The space is decorated in a way that is breathtaking and regal, yet cozy with its purple velvet adorned seating. No detail was left unaccounted for from the beautiful window treatments to the perfectly polished silver salt and pepper shakers. Five stars on all accounts. read more

High tea at Harrods. This was our first time in London and this seemed like a must do event. There are definitely pro/cons to having high tea at this place versus others, as I am sure many offer the same thing. This is a full meal. You will not need lunch or dinner before/after. So, plan accordingly. This is also a long event ... 2 hours at least. Pros: 1. The room ambience, decor and room are very well appointed and picturesque, although the lighting is such that it is hard to get nice photos. 2. There is a wide selection of tea and coffees. Both are really good. We all thought this was some of the best tea/coffees we've had. 3. You get A LOT of tea/coffee ... 3 servings in whatever combination you want. That is either a latte + 2 teas ... or tea + tea + tea ... or coffee + tea + cappuccino. You get the idea. BTW, the tea comes in a pot, which has enough water for at least 2 cups. 4. The warm scones are very good and they offer 3 types of jams. 5. The desserts were plentiful and tasty. Cons 1. You might think that Harrods would have a bathroom next to or in the restaurant. But, no! Despite giving you a firehose of tea/coffee and having you sit there for 2 hours, the bathrooms are a good 10-15 minute walk. If you bladder issues, bring a diaper! 2. Harrods is a crazy maze of floors, stairs, expensive merch and it is easy to get lost. We had to ask where the Georgian was 3-4x before we found it. And the bathrooms you will be rushing off to (see #1) are also only found through a maze. 3. The meal is split into savory and sweet courses. The savory course is either meat or veggie. Aside from the cucumber sandwich, I found the savory course to be kind of meh. Maybe I am just not used to grape + carrots with raisin drizzle. Some were better than others, but take a nibble and if you don't like it, save room for dessert. You can mix and match. 4. This was a treat! The staff is so pleasant. The live piano music is such a nice touch is this beautiful room. I did a flight of the Dom and it is the perfect addition to tea if you like champagne. They cakes and treats are seasonal and right now they are thanksgiving flavor... bursting with a perfect blend of cranberry and spice... definitely an unexpected surprise for our tea service. We loved that they had a cloak room and the hostess was kind to hold our coats while we shopped. If you are looking for something intimate and impressive this is a showstopper when visiting London... scones are made to order, and jams are made daily in house! read more

We decided to check out the Georgian Restaurant for afternoon tea at their Harrods location. As you can see from my images, we were the first people to arrive and were seated (reservation 11:45am). After a few minutes, it started to get full, and the piano music started playing. The staff was super professional and helpful; they cared for us throughout the wonderful experience. The food was super delicious, and the tea was extremely excellent. One of the things we loved about the whole experience was the scones, cream, and jams. We also loved their refillable sandwiches and their delicious pastries. Our waiter and waitress were perfect, professional, and knowledgeable. Disappointed. After getting seated we waited 10 minutes just for water and a server to come to our table. Keep in mind we came on a Thursday and the place was nearly empty with more servers than customers. After waiting a further 20 minutes, we are than informed by the waiter that they are making the food again because they had noting ready. Once the food finally came, we asked the server for a refill on tea and they informed us that they would be getting the tea shortly. Yet, after 25 more minutes of waiting and no tea refills or the second course, we wave down another waiter about where our server went only to be informed that she went on break. On break? Without informing us? After already waiting over a hour, we were told we had to pay in full anyways. No apologies no nothing. The place looked nice with live music getting set up, but otherwise a waste of time and money. Not the experience I expected for being such a nice area. read more

We wanted a nice place to have tea after the Christmas carol with our kids, and as tourists, we thought this would be a great experience. Reservation was made for 1:45, we were seated by 1:48, so far so good. A few minutes went by, a sommelier came by to introduce champagne but when my husband and I decided to pass, he said "I knew it". Who is this short, bald, and rude sommelier? How can he work at the Harrods? Rude guy then gave us water with dust in 2 of the 4 glasses which we exchanged. Again, why is he employed? Anyway, you do not want to go there with an empty stomach because we waited for half an hour just to place our tea order and that is after flagging down the waiter from the next table. When our waiter finally showed up, he was great and professional and he gets the star but the rude sommelier and the slow and also rude coat check person ruined the whole experience. read more

I went here with some coworkers for high tea. It felt regal indeed but I didn't see the clientele being that dressed up or anything. The food and tea were pretty good. I'm pretty sensitive to caffeine though and I thought the tea I got was incredibly strong. I was wired all day. The tiny sandwiches were delicious. My favorite was the sweet onion relish and roast beef. I even got seconds. The sandwiches are incredibly small though so I would definitely go for the free refills. The desserts were slightly disappointing. Some of them were a bit too sweet or too crazy. I did like the scones though especially with the clotted cream. I've eaten at Georgian before...and didn't particularly care for it. Had lunch there again yesterday with family (it was their choice) and again, didn't particularly care for it. The good: -- Beautiful room. -- Beautiful presentation. -- Attentive service. The bad: -- I requested the sea bass minus the puree (I am lactose intolerant). It came with the puree anyway, along with the server's assurance that it was dairy free. I began eating around it (because puree = dairy in my book), only to have the server come by a few minutes later apologizing that there actually was dairy in the puree and that another sea bass was being made for me. While I appreciated his efforts, I don't understand why the puree couldn't be left off to begin with, as I'd requested. -- Prices are outrageous, even for Harrods. Ultimately the bill came minus my sea bass, however, which was very nice of the restaurant to comp (on their own volition). Ultimately I won't return here if I can help it. There are far too many excellent restaurants in London to justify spending so much money for such average food. read more

The best afternoon tea I had while studying abroad in London. This place isn't too touristy or snobby -- it's a nice mixture of people and a lovely environment. As a fellow yelper mentioned, this place gives you the afternoon tea experience without the stuffiness! I went here twice over the course of my program, and the first time was the best. We were placed close to the piano (but not so close that we couldn't chat) and the atmosphere was vibrant and bustling. Service was overall superb as everyone was professional and overall friendly and accomodating. The waiter was consistently available to provide more treats -- delicious, delectable sandwiches (I loved all of them), clotted cream and scones (great texture), a wide variety of miniature desserts ranging from chocolate flavors to fruit flavors, and a wide choice of teas including their special house blend. The price isn't too expensive for afternoon tea, especially because it's all you can eat! (So rare for afternoon teas.) You get what you pay for. The second time I came here, service was slightly off. I awkwardly stood, waiting for some service but no one came. I had to actively walk and seek for help after the rest of my party came. Also, the vibe seemed a bit dead and service was inconsistent and not as friendly as the first time around. However, the food and tea were still delicious and the service, although slightly underpar, was not bad enough that I wouldn't come back! Every second year it has been tradition to have a Christmas Lunch with some family friends at Harrods. As you can imagine everything is exquisite form the food, to the staff to the decor. We are always sat at a beautiful round table and spend hours eating and chatting. It is a buffet - which can sound really basic and simple. However it is not any old ordinary buffet. The waiters do try to take you around with a pate and serve you individually according to your needs. However we always prefer to do it ourselves because they give you far too much! They have a chef who carves the meat as you request so no meat is sliced and waiting for you to collect.The selection of vegetables is outstanding and they are all cooked to perfection We always manage to roll out after this three course meal. We never need the desserts or the cheese and biscuits after but we do anyway! A real treat and so worth the money. read more

Jebus. Not cheap. I knew that going in, but when the bill came and it topped $215, with 10% tip, plus an extra Prosseco each, still was squeeky bum time for the ol wallet. I had ordered the Deluxe Tea. Yes, you can have unlimited finger sammy's and Quiche, not sure if the same applies for the scones and the itty bitty pastries. But realistically, sammys, pastries, tea, champers and scones for two plus bills..... Yeah, a bit over the top. Harrod's is a ridiculous place to shop anyway, so it should be expected. We just dropped 80 quid on three mugs, three key chains and a notebook, so there is that. The tea was quite tasty and all of it was you know... fine. Service was attentive and then not, but all in all, everyone was polite. Another table got a small jar of stuff that we didn't get, but we also had the strawberries where others didn't. We had some giggles and felt important for a couple of hours, so there is that. It was a glorious day and the sunlight pouring through the ceiling windows made for wonderful lighting. It's a bucket list thing as well, so we won't be returning. One item is they make a point regarding no trainers or logo shirts allowed on their website. We almost packed a back pack since we were walking around London with extra shoeswe and were concerned that we would be turned away without proper dress on. It was the hottest day of the year in London and it would of been nice to wear a T-Shirt, but stuck to a proper long sleeve shirt to make sure we wouldn't be turned away. The wifey made the sacrifice of walking 6 miles is some fashionable flats, rather than her trainers since we really didn't want to lug around a back pack. A mother and elder son sat next to us with a logo shirt and trainers on. Upon us leaving, a large family of 8 came in and the youngsters were in Sweaty Betty's, tank tops, trainers and Adidas/Nike tops. My first time at The Georgian on the 4th floor of Harrods and we had afternoon tea. Coming out of the elevator, you see this breathtaking open room with natural sunlight and old world decor with fancy lighting, floral arrangements and chandeliers. I felt like I traveled back in time in a good way. The afternoon tea was exquisite and delightful and well worth the price of 42 pounds per person. While we slowly enjoyed the meal, my wife walked around Harrods so an added plus to have shopping before, during and after our afternoon tea. Came here for Afternoon Tea and it was everything I was hoping for and more! I did a lot of research about where all to do afternoon tea and I finally choose this place and I am so happy I did. Everything from the service to the food was spectacular! We ordered the Georgian Afternoon Tea which includes a choice of Harrods' Fine Tea. I went with the Georgian Blend. This was the first time I have ever had milk in the tea and I have to say I will be doing it more often because they know what they are doing. They Brought out the plates and starting at the bottom you have the finger sandwiches and quiche, which all the plates were all refillable. Second plate you have the jelly for the scones which they brought out after you were done with the sandwiches that way they were warm. Then the third plate had the light delectable pastries. It was just a really nice way to wind down and relax from walking all over creation. One of the jelly's I had to ask if they sold it because it was out of this world. It was a Rose Petal Jelly and they did sell it downstairs in the pantry area but it did say it was a limited edition so don't be surprised if its not there forever. Hopefully they will bring it back or keep it for a while because I could not get enough of it. Overall I cannot wait to go back and have yet another afternoon tea. So Classy! read more

It's nice to have a place to sit down for a proper tea in a department store this big. Tea here is good, but not as good as Brown's, Fortnam & Mason, or the Ritz. Having said that, the price for tea at Harrods is at least £5 less. There is a good selection of teas, including Harrods own blend. The sandwiches were the best of the offerings. The scones were not as flaky as they could have been and the pasties tended to be on the sticky side. Service was polite, but not as attentive as it could have been. We had to ask several times for water and more jam. Ambiance makes up for some of the failings of the food and the service. The room itself is lovely and a pianist provides entertainment with live music. The tables are covered with heavy linen. read more

The worst tea have ever had in London Sat for 25 min before anyone came to take order. The service is atrocious. I complained to three people and then finally someone came to take my order when they brought the tea, they didn't bring sugar or water I had to order that separate. There must be 25 waiters walking all around me and no one thinks to ask me if I have ordered or need anything. The women sitting next to me also having a terrible experience and ended up getting up calling manager over and complaining. With all the wonderful places to have tea, I had to choose this one. Definitely book ahead, as when we were there the other day, they were packed as every table was filled from the time we arrived to the time we left 3 hours or so later. It was the same when I've been in the past or someone else was fortunate to have the grand experience, which is precisely what it is. The Georgian Restaurant at Harrods has high tea down pat and the execution of it is quite beautiful! Everything from the choice of tea, of which there are around 10 or so, to the interesting finger sandwiches, moist fruit scones, pastries, trifle, cakes, clotted cream, lemon curd, jam makes for a filling meal, especially since servers are more than happy to refill a patrons silver lazy Susan's. If not for the super high price of a savory snack (we were stuffed, so it sufficed as a meal, which is nice) with delicious tea and all the nostalgia of a prim & proper Great Britain, I would gladly give this 5 stars. read more

If you're in London looking for a classy afternoon tea experience, this is the place to come! My girlfriend and I came in as broke backpackers, and even though we left with our wallet more empty than ever, we felt like royalty. Despite the £50 price tag, it was a worthwhile experience that we still laugh about today. Even though we felt so out of place having considerably under-dressed for the occasion due to the limited space of our backpacks, we were warmly welcomed despite our unsightly sneakers. Our waitress was so friendly and kind, and we felt no sense of judgment from her whatsoever. From the beautiful restaurant (and Harrods as a whole) to the delicious choices of sandwiches, scones, and cakes, everything was better than what I could've imagined. We shamelessly asked for more of the sandwiches that we liked, and without any hesitancy, our waitress brought us what we had asked and more. Oh, I almost forgot about the tea. We tried the earl grey and darjeeling. Both were outstanding, and far exceeded my expectation of British tea (being Chinese, I always thought our tea was better). My parents would scold me if they found out that I added sugar and milk to my tea, but I can say I've had the true high tea experience and absolutely loved it. TL;DR: Come here for high tea. Saw Simon Cowell here lol but other than that the food is mediocre. Came here with a friend to rest after shopping, and we were looking for a nice relaxing place to have some tea. What we got is extremely mediocre food (we ordered the high tea set menu for two) that was extremely overpriced. While the tea selection is somewhat expansive and decent, the food (I repeat myself lol) was kinda sad. The only highlight of the food was some yoghurt and fruit mixture that I'm pretty sure I could do with some greek yoghurt and strawberries (in around 1minute or so). Understandably that high tea is composed of dishes that one usually has the skills to make. But if sandwiches are overbearingly composed of hearty sauces, the scones are dry, cakes and pastries were not appetizing....it makes the experience kinda questionable. My boyfriend and I visited Harrods' Georgian Restaurant earlier this year for their high tea experience. Being tourists, but also experienced tea drinkers, we knew what we were looking for. We were both impressed with the service and the quality of the food and tea that we were served. I am sure that there are fancier, more exclusive places to go for tea, but this experience was really enjoyable and we would return. My only complaint (which may be more of a preference) is that they don't take the tea leaves out of the pot when the tea is stepped. I've been to establishments that do this and those that don't... so I'm not exactly sure which is the "proper" way to serve tea. However, I prefer it when the leaves are taken out, so that there is no risk of over-steeping. They did offer to add more hot water, but I still feel like this is selling the tea short. read more

After trekking around Lindon, made it here. The experience here is like none other! The ambiance is breath taking. The rich velours and wood tones were beautiful. We had tea and biscuits to start our meal. The biscuits were delicious and served with a variation of jellys' and butter. The tea was ok. I had a monte cristo sandwich for my lunch. The sandwich was the perfect blend of cheese and ham. While I failed to try this type of sandwhich in Paris, it was worth the wait in London. The restaurant was beautiful and the food was good. Visiting Harrods was just something we had to do while in London. Never seen a store quite this huge . . seven floors taking up an entire city block, and selling everything imaginable. We hadn't really done proper afternoon tea, and this seemed like a good opportunity. We were dressed casually, but not a problem. We were seated right behind the pianist, which really rocked (in a low key kind of way, ya know?). My wife had the tea and sandwiches. I was too hungry for that and had the club with mint tea. All very good, and our server was really nice, even spent a bit of time taking some pics for us. Beautiful decor, and well worth walking through the entire store to get there (kinda like Ikea). Nice relaxing experience energized us for some shopping afterward. read more

Unfortunately I can't recommend The Georgian for High Tea. It was my first ever high Tea. I was so excited. And willing to splurge to make it something special. I looked up High Teas near me and when one in Harrods popped up, I thought "perfect!" The other plus was, they do the "afternoon tea" from 12-8pm. So you are not stuck with a 2-5 time constraint if your day is busy. It was a little pricey (£42,£52 or £55 depending on your choice) but I thought it's probably the best around. I'll do it. So I entered and I was almost the only one in the restaurant. It was very fancy looking, but they didn't take my coat. I also read ahead of time there was a dress code. So I purposely wore slightly less comfortable shoes, just to make sure I would be allowed in, but then there were families in very casual attire and sneakers. So I didn't need to go this extra mile I guess. I was also alone, and they put me snack in the middle of the restaurant under bright lights, instead of maybe along the side at a more private area. There were more than 20 tables open, I suppose it would have been nice to be asked if I had a preference. My intention was to get the regular high Tea at £42. Which I should have... but I felt like I wanted it to be special for my first time, so last second I changed my mind to the £55 one. It came with 2 or 3 extra treats, but they were not needed at all, as the regular Tea has PLENTY of food. I couldn't even finish my last 3 things... it also came with a glass of rosé, which was very nice. I elected my Tea and began receiving my courses. Everything tasted very good. The finger sandwiches are unlimited! I didn't get more, because I could tell I had a long way to go, but good to know for the future. About 45 minutes into it I was very full, a little done dining by myself, and sort of on display and ready to go. But the writer disappeared. I started reading my book. It took him over 10 more minutes to reappear with my last course, strawberries. Ok great! It's been over an hour. The food was good (but not AMAZING, which was what I was hoping for for $75 US...) the place was pretty and fancy, but not a "cute" or "cool" atmosphere, which, once again, was what I was hoping for. The service was good-ish, but still, not what I thought a $75 Tea and snack would produce... I waited. Clearly done. For over 15 more minutes before I could get my check. So total I was there 1.5 hours. The first 45 minutes were enjoyable, the last 45 minutes was basically just me waiting to leave. As I was leaving, I saw a really cute terrace! It was small, tucked to the side, more private and "tea party" like. I wold have WAY rather eaten there, instead of under a spotlight in the middle of an empty white restaurant. Probably would have made a big difference in this review. Over all, it wasn't worth the money. There are other Teas for less, and other Teas that have more to offer. read more

Came here for an afternoon tea with friends and it was a very nice experience. We had the standard tea menu (sandwiches, scones, desserts) and our choices of tea. I had to Earl Grey but their house blend - which a friend tried - was also delicious. The scones were by far the best I've ever had. They were served a little warm and with some jams. Every other scone I've had is flaky but also tends to be incredibly dry. Not these! I had two. :) If you have the chance to have afternoon tea, go here! You won't be disappointed. Yesterday Monday 27th August, I visited The Geogian Restaurant, for 'Afternoon Tea',to celebrate my Aunts birthday and was extremely disappointed. I read on the website that Harrods 'Afternoon tea' was 'quintessentially English''. Well I must have been in the wrong restaurant. Being English myself, my understanding of 'afternoon tea' is of well trained, polite waiters, wearing white gloves, serving cucumber sandwiches and delicate cakes. But this was certainly not the case. There was only one cucumber sandwich and the rest of the sandwiches were not usual English fare. The cakes were' over sweet' and nothing like the delicate cakes served at a 'traditional English Afternoon tea'. The staff, in general only seemed to be interested in the 'Middle Eastern' clientele. Everyone else was forced to que or rudely told to come back later, if not at all. Whereas, the 'Middle Eastern' customers seemed to walk straight in, sit where they liked and could order whatever they wanted and where fussed and pampered over. Whereas, all the other clientele where left to their own devices and 'snapped' at, if they asked for anything such as milk! Even the 'live piano music'( that was incidentally, an automated piano) was swapped to Arabic 'pop' music. I suggest if they only want to attract 'Middle Eastern' guests you make that clear from the start. I love 'Middle Eastern food' but I came for 'English Afternoon Tea'. I enjoyed a very nice afternoon tea at Harrod's Georgian Room with my girlfriend. A very traditional set up, also live piano music, and a nice selection of teas and biscuits. The only hassle in having tea at Harrod's is having to go through the entire store to get up to the 5th Floor, its kind of a pain when you just want to relax. read more

Came here for their Christmas Afternoon Tea but when all was done wished we tried elsewhere like Claridge's. Yet another reason to return to London. The room is beautifully decorated and that's about the only thing I enjoyed. Service was sporadic, the sandwiches, scones, and pastries were okay. Maybe their regular afternoon tea is better? I thought Athenaeum's afternoon tea was far better at exactly the same price. read more

Tea at the Georgian is extremely underwhelming. They don't bring you a box of teas to smell so you can get a feel for what you're ordering. They don't take your coat. You have to walk a mile to get to the bathrooms and the lines for the toilets are 50 people deep. The "amouse bouche" of prawn cocktail was a tiny defrosted shrimp in a bed of wilted brown iceberg lettuce. Sandwiches & scones were ok but the desserts were truly bad. So disappointed with our hotel concierge for booking us here when we couldn't get into Fortnum and Mason. read more

If there was ever a perfect high tea experience, this is it. It's delicious, delicate, a little filling and totally worth the price.

Harrod's is certainly a grand experience overall, but the Georgian Restaurant is a bit shopworn. Service was fine, and the teas were good, but the food left something to be desired. The baked goods were a huge disappointment, far below the quality found in restaurants in the States at half the price. read more

My daughter, 18 month old granddaughter and I had the pleasure of enjoying high tea at Harrods in April 2012 on our European tour. The service was impeccable and the waiters catered to our every need, right down to entertaining Indiana and taking photos. Might I also add, the food was devine and the surroundings absolutely beautiful! It was a wonderful experience, one that everyone should enjoy at least once. read more
