Even if the office submits the authorization on behalf of the patient, the front office staff are too lazy to pull the authorization online. They make the patient bring in the authorization otherwise, there's another hour wait for them to pull it up. When questioned, the lady at the front desk was rude and snippity in her response. I finally got to my appt today & I got turned away, & rescheduled cause Amy the front desk said she had not received my authorization for an X-ray. First of all, I did not know I had an authorization pending. I called my Insurance & they actually gave me the authorization number. I called Dr Ho's office back to tell them that they're was an authorization, & they told me to drive back. NOW, I'm really upset!!!!!!!! This is my first appt & bad front desk experience. Been debating a very long time whether I should post this review because I don't like to post negative reviews, but in case another patient needs a second opinion, this is what happened to us. Almost lost my wife through medical negligence as she kept calling the front desk for an appointment from severe abdominal pain and vomiting and front desk won't budge. Front desk didn't want to help and booked my wife with the wrong doctor and won't switch to Dr. Ho. When appointment came, my wife ended up at the hospital with flares. She was screaming in pain. Front desk needs to understand severity of pain when patients say they are in severe pain. Once established as patient with Dr. Ho, my wife needed to call out of office hours because of unexpected pain and never received a call back. Ended up in hospital again but this time with liver failure, chest pain, and trouble breathing from side effect of a med Dr. Ho prescribed. Almost died if my wife hadn't gone to the hospital at her own discretion. We missed our Hawaii trip because of this. Hospital doctors said my condition was fatal if I left the hospital earlier and said I came in the hospital at the right time. Wife had to see at least two different doctors every week afterwards because new symptoms arise from left over side effects. Took up to 8 months for MOST of the side effects to leave but developed fibromyalgia from all the trauma in addition to an already diagnosed auto immune disease. Had to put off baby planning until we found the right rheumatologist who can better provide care. To all patients: USC Pasadena and USC Los Angeles have many great rheumatologists. To establish as new patient, must first wait 2 months or so just like at Dr. Ho; but, service is excellent at USC and they have USC portal to contact your rheumatologist in case you ever have unexpected events. USC rheumatologist replies to wife's portal email in 5 minutes during a work day and every night at 11:30pm after hours. If you are a patient who needs medical attention from spontaneous random pain at random times, and can die from your condition, then USC rheumatology is better. There is a Triage for USC you call 1800 USC CARE and the nurse will advise you whether to contact an on-call rheumatologist or make appointment for you at the Evaluation Treatment Center (like Urgent Care, but can only go with appointment for your USC doctor) or go straight to ER at your nearby hospital. USC Pasadena 625 S. Fair Oaks Ave, Pasadena USC Los Angeles 1520 San Pablo St. Suite 1000, Los Angeles; 15 mins away from Pasadena; not far at all. Traffic is fair. Waiting to see USC rheumatology is less than 5 minutes once check in and staff is kind and welcoming. I hope Dr. Ho's office changes and is compassionate to their patients. No employee should work in a medical setting if they don't have compassion to their patients. read more

I can not comment on the quality of care from Dr. Ho because I didn't even get far enough to get an appointment. This review is on the front office/reception staff, which seems to be a common problem with other reviews. My elderly, Chinese neighbor was referred to see Dr. Ho. She had trouble calling in and asked me to help. My first call was in queue for 45min before it was disconnected. 2nd call, someone picked up. But rather than talking to me to schedule an appointment, she just said she'll transfer us to a Chinese speaker, which we were on hold for another 30min before I had to hang up. 3rd call had a 20min wait before someone picked up. I gave her my neighbor's insurance info, but she insisted on getting my neighbors IPA group, even though she was not in an IPA. We told her that but she was insistent. We called my neighbor's insurance to verify that she wasn't in an IPA. Then we called back a 4th time with the insurance.l representative. The wait was so long that the insurance said they could not long stay on hold with us. This was over a couple of days at different times. The phone recording says wait times are long due to COVID, which I get. But even after they pick up, the staff are not helpful. If it's this hard for me, it must be impossible for non-English speakers or seniors to call in. The office needs to hire more people, fire their receptionists, or retrain every one. My neighbor ended up deciding to try getting a referral to another specialist. read more

What a joke of a Doctor's office. Many elderly patients. No staff wants to make eye contact nor greet patients. Wait 30+ mins to be called in. Get weighed in and measure BP. Wait in the same room another 50+ mins without anyone knocking on the door to update when the doctor would see you. Medi-Care dollars used at its finest. You can certainly hear conversations through the doors between staff members, but definitely not about a patient, billing, nor medical related issues. They'll send in the PA first. Have the PA do all the work. The doctor comes in for less than 60 seconds and walks out. Negative stars if it were an option. They do the whole exam, ask questions, patiently listen to your stories, they really take the time to take alot into consideration and educate you on what is what, why is why about things. Been here twice already and appreciate their listening skills. I must say, after going to so many doctors. Doc Ho was able to give me an answer, and explanation while still keeping me in consideration. So did another blood test in case. About this place, its full and crowded. Again, come early. Initially, I was scared because of my pain but as I awaited to be seen, I was happy to hear other patients brag about office staff. I ultimately received the good care and attention I hoped for. Their staff listened to me and that was ultra important. From the temperature checks lady, to the various unplanned calls I have made to the office, to scheduling my next appointment dates, everyone always listens to me with empathy. They have always treated me with respect and I feel I matter to them. Yes, it is part of their job. But you and I both know that after doing the same thing for different types of people, it can get redundant and old. I matter during every interaction with them and I appreciate that so very much. It is important for me that you know that they truly make a positive difference with the high level of human care they invest in their patients. I also want you to know that it is not normal for me to do things like this. However, Their cheerful attitude with their patients helps to keep hope when at times, hope is all we have. Before seeing this doctor, I verify with my insurance company that he is part of the "in-network" facility. To my surprise, my insurance company refuse to pay for the lab work because it was out-of-network. I didn't know about it until I received the benefit statement. Obviously, he violates California's Consumer Protection from Surprise Medical Bills AB-72 law that prohibited medical providers from sending consumers out-of-network bills when the consumer followed their health insurer's requirements and received non-emergency services in an in-network facility. One star for awful, inefficient staff.The doctor is ok, but I'm not sure because we only see him max 10 minutes. The problem is he definitely needs to get better staff, or retrain his employees to be better. His receptionist are terrible. I call in to get my mother's prescription sorted out since they made a mistake on the dates in her prescription. Automatically the front desk girl send the call to the back office, and line just hangs up. I call again apparently "another girl" though I'm sure it was the same person but she just claims not to be the one who spoke to me earlier answers and also send the call the back office. Finally back office answer regarding the issue but say they'll get back to me...and God knows when that'll be, because in their claim they're super busy... I'm sure that is true but you dont have to tell me to my face and make an emphasis on how busy you are, just do your job ! To sum up the problem I just thing how they handled things are awful. They just pushed patients inquiries to the side like tossing the ball around the office, in end nothing done. What makes me angry is why do these people have jobs if they arent doing their job well/efficiently. He's basically paying them to drive away patients. My main complaint is the front desk staff and their messaging center. They don't seem to care. I've left several messages concerning my refills and no one ever seems to get back to you. It's like your job to find a live person to answer your question otherwise you'll just wait forever. Why even have a voicemail if you're not going to bother to check it? That's where they need the most help or a better system in place. The front desk staff isn't the friendliest and honestly if you don't like your job please do yourself and everyone else a favor and see your ass out.... please put more effort in putting yourself where you want to be! You're in a caring industry... act like you care a bit! The wait is usually 45mins or more. Dr. Ho and the PAs are good. Once your in, it goes by pretty fast. Have your questions or concerns ready because once they go over bloodwork and track your progress they're quick to breakdown how meds are going and then you're out. Horrible customer service!! I called to make appointment for my Mom yesterday during office hours and was transferred to voicemail. Per the voicemail instruction, I left a message with call back number and reason. They didn't call back. I called today and was put on hold for 27 minutes and got hung up. I called back right away and was transferred to voicemail. 10 minutes later I called again and was put on hold again. It is 20 minutes now. I am writing the review while waiting on the line fuming. I didn't think this office could get any worse, but it has. It took a several weeks to get my infusion treatment corrected after the renewal they issued was for the wrong pharmacy; it took a month to get my methotrexate meds renewed; and I had to go to my GP to get my pain meds renewed because the pharmacy couldn't get a response from the Dr.'s office. I leave voicemails when I can, meaning sometimes, no matter what time of the day I call, their voicemail box is full. Very obnoxious receptionist.  She was very rude and impatient, her name is Lisa.  And if you have HMO, don't expect it to be approved, since the auth lady, Blanca doesn't know what she's doing!   Worst of all, if you are getting IV infusion and blood drawn, just  be careful because the manager, Jian Yang, does not have any license, not even a CNA, but she is there performing all procedures without the adequate licenses.  I Just changed clinic, thank God! read more

I called the clinic that they appointed me to visit P.A first because Dr. Ho is all full booking in two months. I said ok so they arrange the Tele consultation and gave me a medication and request to do the blood test. But the PA is called Joannna who is the Dr.Ho's assistant she said I will be arranged next week after my blood test. I said ok, the drug called Meloxicam I took around one week that is absolutely not working because I need to take Tylenol as my extra drug when I am painful. When I called back to the clinic and I said I am waiting for the appointment as Joanna told me she will arrange the 2nd office appointment for me to visit Dr. Ho. She just said I need to wait 8 weeks. It was ridiculous because why Joanna told me she would arrange the appointment for me next week but the clinic adm lady told me I need to wait 8 weeks. I don't know how come there is the big difference. I think PA Joanna just want to claim the insurance company and earn the money. PA Joanna didn't really arrange the 2nd appointment for me. I pretty couldn't wait for 8 weeks because my symptoms are getting more worse. My fingers and knees are going to weakness and powerless day by day. I feel so pain when I am working. I don't know how they can arrange the appointment so slowly. I can accept one or two weeks, not eight weeks. I am Taiwanese, you never know how fast the clinic do everyday in Taiwan. Just only one or two days you can visit doctor. 8 weeks I can back and forth to Taiwan two times even I get 14 days quarantine. Don't be stupid to make appointment with PA and trust them to arrange your appointment earlier. You always need to get the backup plan when you make a appointment with this clinic. I have not visited Dr.Ho but I was very disappointed of their PA and adm lady attitudes. read more

If I could give a lower rating I would. My mother was diagnosed with Lupus and has to go to this doctor, apparently he is the only one she can see with her insurance and is over 25 miles away. When she goes to her "1 hour" appointments Dr. Ho only sees her for 5 mins. He doesn't allow her to ask questions, talks over her, is no help to her at all, does not inform her of what Lupus actually is and what can be done, does not give the proper test that need to be done when dealing with Lupus, he does not read the patients chart before walking into the room and on numerous occasions has called my mother by the wrong name and talked to her about diagnoses that did not pertain to her (wrong patient) . She spends more time in traffic and waiting in the waiting room than she does with the doctor. I would never recommend Dr. Ho to anyone who is seeking medical help. Our family has found out more info about Lupus and treatments online than from actually hearing it from Dr. Ho which is suppose to be his job. If I could give it negative stars I would. My daughter under the age of 18 was referred by her pediatrician. She is in a lot of pain and yet they won't see her until July. 3 months! That's ridiculous. That's not even what makes me mad. What upset me was their lack of customer service. Whoever you have answering the phones needs to be fired. Her service is horrible. She continuously put me on hold for over 20 minutes to answer other calls, that's what she said when I asked why I was being placed on hold for so long. How about you place them on hold and finish with the first caller? Only to come back and supposedly try and schedule an appointment and then to place me on hold AGAIN and come back to tell me they don't see clients under 18. Most horrific experience of my life this is one of the worsr Dr's offices I have ever been to. The staff is rude and very obnoxious don't have any manners or common sense on how to treat patients. Waited what seemed like an eternity to see the Dr only to see the PA and not the Dr because he was backed up and they were preparing to go to lunch. Appt was @ 11am didn't get seen till 12:35 then they tried to rush the appt due to it being lunch time, Was told I could reschedule or come back at a later time to be seen if I wanted my test results. I refused to leave until I got the results they rushed the results and I was told I could WebMD my results When I complained I was told I could go see my Primary Dr and get the results if I wanted them that bad. Problem is Dr. Ho ordered these tests and not the primary. The PA and the Dr said I was a problem patient and that my Primary Care Dr was incompent for telling me that I have Lupus even though the test results confirm my lupus diagnosis among other things. Stay away from here at all costs due to the Dr's incompetence I am still sick and in pain. read more
