Everything we ordered over the course of our couple day trip for Mardi Gras was delicious - the donuts, the beignets, and the sausage biscuits. We didn't take advantage of a late night beignet, but it's good to know Gerald's is open 24/7. This place was a hit with the kids and adults alike. The inside decor is like one of those old school donut shops from the '80s and makes you feel right at home. The staff is friendly, even amidst how busy it can become, and were handling a parade-heavy weekend like pros. That's all on top of the affordability. Day 2 in NOLA and needed to catch a bite before going to the National Park. We selected a breakfast place but it was closed down so we entered the place next to it. Quickly you know its a local restaurant frequented by the surrounding residents. When you enter there's a bar top to eat and a small dinning area. Our server was friendly and brought us waters and menus. We ordered 2 western omelets, French Toast, Breakfast plate, burger and egg biscuit. The portions are big for the price. The omelets were full of veggies and meat. The biscuit was huge for my youngest. The burger was filling for my son. You can truly taste the home style touch and I recommend this as a stop. I have to say both the cheeseburger and onion rings here are among the all time best I've ever had. I also have to admit I had heard how great the burgers here were but I just refused to believe a 24/7 donut shop could put out a great burger and I'm so glad I was so wrong and the burger here is indeed definitely great. Now I'm not a fan of donuts but plenty of folks I know who are all proclaim how great the donuts here are as well and I have to say the donuts look so great I was even tempted to think about sampling some but I didn't. Happy to make your acquaintance Mrs. 24 hour donut & burger establishment. I will admit, how I came to visit, was that I phoned in an order and didn't receive all of the items I ordered, so putting in a call, I was offered FREE DONUTS, hence the reason for the in person visit. We were provided a half dozen of free donuts for the inconvenience of missing food items. So on this particular day yeah, I journeyed in to make good on those free donuts. And oh, to my surprise, I've found a 24-hour eatery in this post-Covid world. It is quintessentially important to know of places like this to eat. I found the staff to be understaffed, and the wait time was a little longer than it should've been considering I was the only person in the place, less the patron on the bar stool that was watching TV; but isn't that the norm nowadays. However, when I was greeted and advised of the selections avail to me. The young lady was more than helpful. She advised me of what my choices were, and quickly bagged them up for me to head out the door; another stick and move caper, I'm proud to announce. The donuts were very tasty, light and fluffy, and considering it was the middle of the day, because this is when I went, they still were fresh. As a matter of fact, I can recall seeing her coming in and out with trays of donuts, so it seems like they cook and prepare donuts on a regular basis, YESSSS!!!! This makes me happy. I love donuts. I got a hot sausage egg and cheese croissant sandwich with tots. I called it in when I arrived the place was filled with customer whom all looked and greeted as if they worked there. I ordered 6 wings with fries and a dozen of donuts. The total for that was $37.92. When I received my food, I opened it up to look at it. I basically had no fries. They have given me not even a hand full. So, I asked the server there was a mistake. The cook didn't give me enough fries with my order. She told me If I want more I would have to order another serving of fries, because that is what they normally serve. Now, this is after 1am in the morning. I just got off work and I'm starving. So, to not make a fuss. I ordered onion rings which came up to $5.49 in total. When they brought it to me, it was five onion rings. I counted them. I just left in disgust. When I got home I started eating the onion rings. I instantly became mad. I couldn't tell when I was in the restaurant because of the batter. These people have fried the outer layer of the onion, the skin part. I'm chewing and was wondering why its hard to chew. Mind you I live 30 mins away from this restaurant. The wings was not good, I've definitely had better. The donuts were ok. I gave a donut to my niece and she's 9. She didn't like it and she loves donuts. I spent a total of $43.41 and wish I haven't. I would NEVER go back to this place. The portions and the taste of the food was not satisfying. Geralds donuts have been my long time favorite in the city. Beating absolutely every one of the fancy and non fancy donut staples. It's the best. I've been wanted to eat a full meal here for a while. The menu is pretty comprehensive and looks solid. Plus, they've continued to grow and I've never heard a complaint. I rated it a 5 star not because it's the best burger ever (although pretty dang good) or the best service but because 1, the donuts and 2, it's EXACTLY what you should expect at this little Arabi gem. Although, the tater tots are perfection. The burgers are REALLY good and I am intrigued by their breakfast including chicken & waffles. Lots of toppings and side options (we added fried pickles). It's not fancy, no ones rushing to service you. But they do have a drive through and a whole lot of character. When I called them and explained what happened i was told they would not remake it but i could drive back there and they would add the original items to the existing sliders. It is extremely unprofessional for them to expect me to drive back for them to add condiments to cold food instead of them remaking the order to correct their mistake. My family and I came for dinner and donuts. We got 18 mini burgers and they were served on stale bread, with the meat over cooked, and 12 of them were cold by the time they came out. So it was over cooked and then cold. We also got a club sandwich which was very good but that's about all. I could deal with cold food, but when we said the food was cold the waitress was very nice and took the food in the back. The past 2-3 years they have been getting over and food actually sucks and not even worth a hangover meal . They pre bag the fries (I know because I know the workers I've been going there 3-4 years) you only get about 12 fries with you meal and they overly charge. And if you luck out and get them hott glazed, OMG . Any bacon connoction they have is also a must try. Maple bacon will change your life. Geralds has the best glazed donuts in the New Orleans area. They are fried golden brown and crispy, they do not even need to be hot to be great which is not and easy thing for me and glazed donuts. While the outside is brown and crispy the inside is nice and moist. The breakfast here is pretty cheap but bland. Do not order the sausage because I have no clue what that disk of tough overcooked meat was so stick with the bacon.
