Reese's donut and a vanilla sprinkled donut
    Mike Z.

Went here for the first time tonight, there was a server who said it was her second day and another lady who I'm not sure if she was the owner or the manager but they were both very sweet and helpful and provided great service! This place serves breakfast and baked goods 24/7, which is rare to find in the city. The prices were really good too! I got two donuts and they were delicious and satisfied my cravings for the night!

    Damned fine cinnamon roll.

It's a classic greasy spoon short order grill and doughnut shop. If you don't like that sort of thing, you might not like this. The food is fine and dirt cheap. The doughnuts are delicious. I'm a particular fan of cinnamon rolls, and they have two completely different styles. There's the honey bun, the usual fried doughnut shop style, and that's as good as any I've ever had. The second is at the other end of the spectrum, not an in-between thing like Cinnabon, not one of those that's really just a loaf of bread, but a dense, chewy, yeast-raised and baked cinnamon sweet roll doused in white icing. That's my personal favorite type, and this one is top notch. And just a bit huge. My wife has tried a number of the doughnut types and raves over them. For comparison, don't think greasy, wet, sugary fat bombs like Krispy Kreme, and don't think airy and dry like grocery doughnuts. These are dense, sweet but not greasy yeast-raised doughnuts. Like LaMars, if you've ever been lucky enough to live near one. The five stars is for the pastry and the old-fashioned neighborhood cheap breakfast joint feel. Don't expect gourmet bacon and eggs. It's decent breakfast for not much money. Whaddaya want fer nuttin anyway?

    Jalapeno poppers

First try here at 10:30am on a Tuesday. It's a small diner, no tables, only a counter. Sat on the end, by the kitchen door, and it took 10-15 minutes before a server came and asked if I was being helped. THE FOOD: I ordered jalapeno poppers, and a cheeseburger combo. The poppers had no heat from the jalapeno, the cheese was kind of grainy, and there was a hair on it. The burger and fries came. The fries were as I asked for them, well done and crispy. The burger was just barely done, still had a touch of pink in the middle. It looks hand made. The mayo and ketchup was put on way too thick, so it dripped all over. It's kind of a home bbq style burger. It wasn't real tasty, though. The Sprite was good, lol. The men's room was clean.

So I wanted to order pickup thru the Yelp ordering system(grubhub) for lunch! I ordered pick up and arrived 15 minutes early than the expected finish time because I figured,"they're probably not crazy busy I'm sure it won't take that long." When I arrived I was asked what I needed and responded that I put an order in for pick up and would like to pick it up. She quickly responded that they haven't had a tablet in months and never received my order. I was caught off guard and asked for assistance as in "has this happened to anyone else? What should I do?" She said maybe contact grub hub bc she has no way of refunding me handling the situation on her end. Totally fine and grub hub cleared up the confusion in about a 3 minutes phone call. I ordered the 3 mini burger meal w cheese and fries! I also finished my meal with an Oreo donut and 3 donut holes. This is your typical comfort diner food! Which is exactly what I was looking for!! The fries were fried fresh which I love and the burgers were just as fresh. The donuts were fairly light! Not so dense like Dunkin' Donuts by not crazy fluffy like Krispy Kreme. A very happy middle!!! Atmosphere is kind very old diner feel. Not much going on, pretty quiet. The woman is working alone and I think there's maybe one kitchen cook. I put my order in on the spot and waited maybe 20 minutes. The place has very cute decor just seems kind of out dated. I definitely wouldn't dine in as it's not my personal preference in dining. But great for a take out kind of place!!! If you're looking for a solid comfort American food, this is a great spot! I also got everything for under $10. It's an awesome deal!

    Two dozen donuts

I have been here several times now. On the north side of Veterans, just east of the Oaklawn intersection, you can't miss their pink and white store. There is plenty of parking for them and the rest of the shops in this small strip mall, though I have to admit that I haven't stopped in when the other businesses were open. Their doughnuts are good, and when I bought two dozen mixed doughnuts for National Doughnut Day to take to work, everyone seemed to really enjoy them, which was great, 5 stars for being a crowd pleaser! The one time I tried an apple fritter, it was real doughy inside, as if it wasn't cooked all of the way through. The breakfast I had (grits, scrambled eggs, bacon, toast) was decent for being the basic breakfast. On all of my visits, I had to walk through several people smoking outside in order to get in. There always seems to be people sitting at the bar inside. I have not ever been greeted upon entry, and usually have to wait in order to place my order. Granted, all 3 of my visits have been before 6am during the week, and the waitress was in the back, so she could have been cooking. There should be a bell of some sort that goes off when a new customer enters, or maybe some way of monitoring what is going on, if for nothing else than the safety of the wait staff since the customers don't make any eye contact with each other.

Some decent stuff from the grill, but very good, local doughnuts. Like most- get 'em while it's hot!

District meets the suburbs…read more I've been to the locations on Magazine and Harrison several times but 1st time I have been to this one. This one feels like a chain restaurant (which it now is) and has no real personality being pinned in between a bike shop and a Jersey Mike's inside of strip mall. The kolaches at District are really good. They have a variety of flavors, I usually get a smoked sausage, cheese and jalapeno which is tasty but this time I got a brisket boudin and cream cheese kolache in a collaboration with Gonzo's. This was phenomenal. I also got a regular glazed donut. This was not that good. It's too dense and too thick. I like my glazed donuts to be light and airy; I want it to almost melt in my mouth. All of District's donuts are thick. Most of them are good especially the banana pudding donut. The issue is these aren't really donuts more like cakes or just a dessert. If you are coming to get your order to go this place is fine but if you want to hang out, I prefer the other locations.

The dough is soft, buttery, and rich without being heavy, and the cinnamon-sugar filling is perfectly balanced (sweet but not cloying). You can tell it's made with the same care as their donuts. The icing is generous without drowning the cake, and the traditional Mardi Gras sprinkles add that classic festive touch. It's indulgent, flavorful, and dangerously easy to keep slicing "just one more piece." Also worth noting: it stays moist for days, which is rare for king cake. If you're torn between traditional and over-the-top versions, this is a great middle ground--classic flavor, elevated execution. Easily one of the better king cakes in the city, and definitely worth picking up during the season. Would 100% buy again.

The service was nice the first time but the second time we really didn't have a good one. We had a guy that was really nonchalant and didn't pay us any mind. I could go into more detail but no need to bash anyone. But when someone acts like that it makes the food mediocre. But the food was decent my favorite thing I ate was the French Toast it was sweet and moist easily a get it again. The Crab Rangoon dip was elite as well so creamy and full of flavor. The Harrison BLT was a big let down just felt they didn't put any effort into it was kind of just there. A BLT is a very simple dish but has to be made with love and care. The Winser Scramble had a lot of potential but it only had 3 shrimp in there it's hard to forgive that when that's the only protein it has in there. The hangover bowl was pretty nice, literally any dish makes you get over any hangover you have brisket in a dish it's always hearty. Now to the McOutpost, I love the idea of it. I felt if the biscuit was a bit firmer and more flaky it would've been nice. Overall this spot is a pretty cool spot to go catch a vibe and a bite.
