I guess this is kind of a two part, maybe three part review. They took care to restoring my vehicle after it was recovered and needed some TLC. I was fortunate enough to have my vehicle be fixed and not totaled. My vehicle, when released, was towed here and I was alerted of this. I went over to this location and talked with the employees. Hector, who I dealt with face-to-face on many occasions, was amazing. He walked me through it all any time I had questions or concerns. On my first visit he showed me my vehicle and let me rummage through it to see if there were any personal objects left in the vehicle. It also gave me a chance to see the damage. Hector also said to point out anything that the initial inspection by insurance missed or they may have overlooked when it got to their location. Good thing I did. I noticed a few things that neither had noted. After pointing them out I they added them to the list of things to do. I was also able to find my front license plate that I was told was tossed. It was tossed, just to the back of the vehicle. Once that was done, I was given a timetable to come pick up my vehicle with an absolute end date that it would be ready. However, before I left I was told that it would be ready well before that time and they would call me to let me know, about a week before the deadline. This is where I knock off a star. That week comes and they call me on the Tuesday before, on this call they ensure me that it will be ready by Thursday of that week, no later than Friday. I was ecstatic by that, I was set to go on vacation and thought that it was going to be great timing. Thursday rolled around and they called me close to closing time. They were calling to inform me that it was not ready on that day but would be ready by Friday. OK, fine, I can roll with that, they also told me they would call me by 1 the next day to let me know to come pick up my vehicle. One came and went on Friday and I ended up calling them. When I was told that it was not ready. I had asked when it would be ready, they said they weren't sure. When I told them I had to call and cancel hotel reservations for my vacation I was put on hold. The lady I was speaking with said they needed to check with the paint bay and ask when it would be ready. The worker in the paint bay said it would be ready Tuesday of the following week. The day after Labor Day, and getting nearer to the deadline. I somehow was able to set up transportation to go home over the holiday weekend and was dependent on my family for transportation. Tuesday rolls around and we are set to head back down to pick up my vehicle. Something told me that it wasn't going to be ready. Before I left Pennsylvania to take the four hour drive down I called. This time, it was the same lady, she sounded annoyed I was calling. She must of sensed my irritation as I have now been told for the third time that my car was still not ready. Informing them again of my vacation that is basically nonexistent at this point, she goes back to the paint bay again. This time I am told that the paint bay was down for repair. I'll tell you one thing, they are great at coming up with excuses to cover up their lies on dates. She starts to tell me when it would be ready, this is where she started to fumble. I was told Thursday, one day before the deadline. Then she back peddled and said Friday, the original due date. If y'all were going to just stick to that date in the first place, you could have saved each of us a headache by telling me that's the date and that's that. If it got fixed beforehand and I received a call, I would be excited by that. The amount of times that I had to cancel and reserve hotel reservations it was so much of a hassle. However, who kept his word and was a standout throughout this all was Hector. He never lied to me when I spoke to him. He was the one to actually call me on the due date. He did inform me that they were waiting for the glass guy to put the one last piece on the vehicle (when it was stolen they tried to rip off my front collision detection camera). However, he didn't want to hold onto my vehicle longer and I could come pick it up. He also had a bit of bad news, for some reason my insurance company denied the detailing of my vehicle. But he did guide me a bit here. Told me to contact them with the evidence that someone was smoking in my vehicle (spoiler, it wasn't me, I don't smoke or allow other people to smoke in my vehicle). I was finally able to go on what little vacation I had left and waited for a call that they would be able to get that one last piece put on. I was surprised when Hector called to let me know I could bring it up that I was approved now for a detailing. I dropped my vehicle back off and went on my way for a few hours. I got a call it was finished. In the end I got my vehicle back in better condition than even before it was stolen. Maybe close to when I first purchased it. read more

This was the worst customer service experience I've ever had. Whenever I call, it seems to be the same people answering, and they don't provide their names. I often feel like I'm bothering them by asking questions, and they talk down to me as if I should already know the answers. Based on my experience, I would not recommend them. read more

My car was rear ended and the bumper had to be replaced. Brought it to Gerber (first time using them) and I would absolutely recommend them for any and all repairs. They did a stellar job on my car and their customer service is impeccable. They sent text messages and called me numerous times throughout the process updating me on the progress and assuring me my vehicle would be ready by the original date. Repairs were completed on time! They also work with enterprise rental car so I was able to pick up and leave my rental at their location. I cannot express enough how easy they made this whole experience! Wow, amazing customer service. I was hit during a minor fender bender and brought my car to a different company (Caliber Collision). The other company held in to my car for a week before they informed me there was not enough damage for them to repair my car - I guess for them to make a profit on the repairs from the insurance company. Either way, I brought my car to Gerber and they were amazing! Their follow up is strong - constantly reaching out to let me know they were still working on the car, what they were doing and when they estimated it to be ready for pick up. The owner himself walked me around the car to show what they had done and my car honestly has never looked better. Very impressed by their work and their customer service. Recently I was in a front end collision and Gerber of College Park did an excellent job repairing the damage. My 2007 Civic looks brand new again (at least on the front end)! I was also pleased with their customer service. The front desk was helpful and Amy called me regularly to give status updates on my car. Spoke with the service rep about dropping off my vehicle. I had an insurance claim. My carrier forwarded them all of the information. The rep said, "no problem, drop it off tomorrow at 5 pm". Scheduled for the rental company to pick us up. Next day, arrive at ithe place at the schedule time. "Sorry sir, you cannot drop it off because our lot is full but we can give you an estimate and you can take it with you". I am thinking to myself, have you seen the damage to my vehicle. I cannot believe that you could give me a thorough estimate "while I wait". Why was I not told this the prior day when we scheduled everything? Needles to say, I took my truck and my business elsewhere. Never again. read more

I brought my 2015 Mazda CX-5 SUV into Gerber Collision and glass in December 2020 after the car was sideswiped by a hit-and-run driver in Hyattsville, MD. The driver side, including the rear quarter panel, was significantly scraped and dented. They did a great job of restoring the car to its original beauty. When a roof molding came off in a car wash a few weeks later, I went back hoping they could replace it. They found one that matched and replaced it for free. Over the next few years, a piece of the rear quarter panel cracked and loosened, and two other spots nearby cracked and rusted a little. I took the car back in October 2022. The folks at Gerber said the car was still under their warranty and repaired the trouble spots at no cost. The car again looks beautiful. I would highly recommend this business. It's not the one mile from my home as the first one was but there is a significant difference in professionalism and quality represented here by this crew which I recognized immediately. Their efforts validated the first estimate and I was able to gain confidence in the extent of damage to my car. However, the estimator, Amy, quickly was able to provide a solution and rectify the situation. They seem to be very busy but they are still thorough and efficient, and actually care about their customers and the work they do. This review is months late (from Jan/Feb) but I still wanted to complete it. I was dropped off my Jetta on 1/17/20 after a mutiple car collision. The front end was completely wrecked. The drop off process was very smooth. My insurance sent me to Gerber as a perferred body shop, they coordinated my drop off and my rental car directly with the shop. There was great communication in the beginning. They let me know status updates via text. Towards the end, the ball was dropped just a little with the availability of my vehicle. They called me right before I was supposed to pick up my car, as I was enroute, and let me know that my car was still at the Gaithersburg location and wouldn't be available for pickup. No big deal, I eventually picked it up 2 days later, on the 31st. After driving for a few days, I noticed that my temperature sensor was no longer working and my dash was vibrating whenever the fan was turned on in the higher settings. I took my car back and explained that neither of these things were happening prior to the repairs. They said they would look at it and I could drop it off. I dropped my car off on 2/7/20, it was supposed to be ready by the next day, but no later than Monday, the 10th. I never recieved a call that my car was ready. I eventually just stopped by on the 14th and they let me know my car was ready for pickup. They also let me know that there was nothing wrong with my car and if there was an issue I would need to take it to the dealership. I explained that the issues were happening before the repair but still nothing would be done. Even with all that, I would have still given more stars because everyone was still nice and my car, with the exception of the temperature sensor (still doesn't work) and the vibrating (still vibrating), my car looked good as new. However, a few months later, when I was finally cleaning out my trunk, I pulled out some purchases I still had in the trunk. Back in January, on the 9th to be exact, exactly 8 days before I dropped my car off, I bought myself a brand new Tory Burch handbag as a late christmas gift. It was a very nice, red, orang and pink colorblock, top handle satchel. The bag was in my trunk when I dropped my car off on the 17th. I was waiting for summer to wear it, it was such a nice summer bag. However, it was no longer in my car when I cleaned out the trunk. The bag was still there along with the duster bag the handbag was in, but no handbag. As upset as I am, I realize it's not much I can do. I should have been more careful. I just want people to be careful when dropping their cars off to make sure nothing valuable has been left in the car, even the trunk. read more

Mathew and Jennifer were extremely attentive to my questions and worked with me on issues and options for work on my car after a nasty accident with a rock hitting my windshield and damaging part of my body paint work. They were so pleasant throughout the work; they finished ahead of schedule; they gave me specific care instructions for taking care of the paint work over the coming months; and they left my car sparkly clean!!! The best experience I've had with a body shop after an accident, and I would advise people not to go anywhere else in the Silver Spring area!!! read more

My car was brought in for collision repair February 1st. I received no communication from the shop whatsoever regarding the status of my repairs. I went ahead and decided by the 13th that I should call and check the status myself. I was told it still wasn't finished but I should expect it done by the 20th. That would make it 3 weeks without my car. So it's the 20th at 4:30pm and still no phone call so again I call the shop and they say it's not likely to be ready until the 26th of February. Seriously? That's an additional week for those of you playing at home. How on earth is it that time consuming to repair a Chevy Cruz which was a 2016? Why on earth would you not call the customer at any point over the first two weeks and let them know why the repair is taking so long and then additionally not call them between the time that they called you and the expected finish date to let them know it would be an additional week? I would give Gerber a 10 out of 5 stars!! This place is the absolute best. Professional, friendly, witty and an all around great place. Someone put a dent in my bumper while my car was parked and their insurance company scheduled me to get it fixed a Gerber. I took my car to Gerber and the process was extremely smooth and stress free. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. A day before I was to arrive at Gerber my AC went out in the car. I wasn't sure if they could fix the AC since they are a collision company but I asked anyway and viola...they were able to fix my AC as well. ANNDDDD for a more reasonable price than the quote I got from the dealership!!! I was amazing surprised and happy with the service I received. I walked in and was greated immediately. I notice how busy they were and I did not have an appointment. The Manager Matt introduced himself and still took the time to come out and look at my car. It was an easy fix so he himself took the liberty to get his own hands dirt and got it done. They fixed the entire front end of my vehicle when I was in an accident and the work was beautiful and quick. They did a great job of keeping me up to date on where they were with the work and when my vehicle would be ready. On the other end of the spectrum, I needed the hinges on my rear window replaced, and not knowing where to go, I called them. They fit me in on the same day (I just expected them to look at it) and got it taken care of quickly. They are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend them! read more

In the last couple of years I have had to use the services of Gerber collision about four times! The first three were not my fault... But then while driving in the parking lot of a grocery store I scraped my right front fender. There was a yellow scrape across the front of the car which I thought was going to cost me more money! Mathew Cooper came out to look at the scrape, went to the shelf and grabbed some adhesive remover and proceeded to remove the damage! In an age where collision shops have the unfortunate reputation of not being as honest as they could, it was an absolute refreshing experience to be treated so well! Hopefully I will never have the need to, but if I do I will never go anywhere else for collision and glass repair except for Gerber Collision in College Park Maryland! read more

To flame online and strongly express one's dissatisfaction often leads nowhere, so here's my experience with this particular store in order for people to draw their own conclusions. Despite my own bad experience, it should be said that they are very quick in repairs, their place is clean, the location is good and their staff is courteous throughout. My issue is that I had clipped my driver-view mirror on a tree as I was backing up from a driveway to a street in pitch-black rainy weather. I reviewed body shops online and found that Gerber had good reviews so I called them to arrange for a meeting the day after the event. They told me to come by during morning hours and they could look at my situation. So I did, only to be told that they could only provide me with an estimate and that they did not have the space to actually fix the vehicle on the spot. Presumably, this would be something that could be clarified over the phone so that I could go there *without* having to drive a car unfit to drive twice. I could just go there with a friend and pay for my initial deposit for the replacement mirror. It then took them about a week to retrieve the mirror. After the second time I called it was clarified that they had sent the mirror to the wrong branch, so I had to wait more days. Once I was called to say that the mirror was ready, I went by and we installed the mirror. It turned out to be a terrible after-market mirror, which vibrated even with moderate volume music and on any highway that I went above 50mphs. 2000 feet down the road I just had to go back and tell them that the mirror was not good. At that point, they told me that they would have to order a factory - quality mirror (presumably from my car's manufacturer) and that would cost me a hair under $100 more. Already in the hole for $200 parts and labor (maybe this is a common scheme?), I had to accept this. This particular mirror arrived fast, maybe within 2 or 3 days max, and I was telephoned to be notified of this. After this telephone I became extremely busy with work (office - microwaved dinner - sleep kind of situation) and I couldn't visit them for more than a week. A week and a half into this wait, I got an angsty phonecall from an employee telling me that I would have to hurry with the repair otherwise the branch would be burdened with a restocking fee. Naturally, the branch was not particularly moved by the fact that I had to Uber for a week while they were looking for the defective mirror; the restocking fee, of course, was their concern. The phonecall arrived by chance at the same time that I was getting cleared from my professional panic and I was able to visit the same day even, half an hour before closing. So I drove my car, waited for the labor, and was told that the "factory-quality" mirror that had been ordered was not the right one and wouldn't fit my car. So I had to wait another day. Next day they actually installed the mirror and to this day it works fine. When offering customer service, your first goal should be to get one thing right. These guys appear to be at that level, currently. read more

From the moment you step in you get white glove service much like you experience at high-end retail shops or with quality providers like USAA. Everyone from the front desk to the manager to the person who moved my car treated me like a priority customer. I've already raved about this location on Yelp and will be sure to recommend to others in the USAA network. For comparison the last in-network place I took it to didn't even bother to wash my car afterwards. I was impressed to find not only my car washed by Gerber, but waxed and cleaned inside and out. I originally took my lightly damaged rear bumper to another shop, but when they couldn't fit me in for 3 weeks, I brought it to Gerber. There wasn't much damage, but the estimate was quick (just be sure you have an appointment) and the fix was done in under 24 hours... they even buffed out some minor scrapes in the paint from our ice scraper! I was rear-ended a few months ago, and I gotta say, it was the best unfortunate accident experience ever. The person who hit me had USAA and this was one of their preferred body shops. Though I could have gone elsewhere, I chose this shop for location for decent reviews, and just to make the claims process easier. They couldn't make the repairs on my car immediately, but they were very upfront about it and were communicative throughout the process. I was very pleased with the end result and the customer service I received was exceptional and professional.
