this place is a joke. after a tree fell on my car in a storm, they fixed it and gave me the keys. i opened the door to find the driver's seat was still full of glass. like, really?! i called my insurance company to let them know about my experience too and they reimbursed my extra expense of having to get my car interior detailed. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. My car went their for two different accidents which both took way past the estimated time they say it would be done. The first time was an okay experience they fixed what need to be fixed but I guess thats what they are good at, doing the bare minimum or the easy plug and play. The second accident was a lot worse with more moving parts. They took it in and then no contact. This location has really poor customer service or don't actually under stand the concept of it. They hate when a customer check their work with a private shop or someone who knows what they are doing second guess their work. My vehicle went there twice for the same accident the first time bare minimum work. Then second time they didn't want to replace my windshield because it wasn't "part of the accident" when it was. After calling them and my insurance company they finally deemed it part of the accident. I wan't to say this was such a huge burden because I'm in another state while this is all happing for College. read more

I had minor rear end damage after my car was backed into by another car. This damage included a sensor. I specifically pointed this out when dropping off my car. I was called September 12 and told my car was ready. I took a day off work to pick up my car in September 13. I returned my rental and went to Gerber. I then got into my vehicle the rear parking sensor alert was still going off on my dashboard. I went back in and told the woman at the front desk about the issue. She had the staff pull my vehicle in back and try to fix it. Next, she informs me that they are going to have to put me back in a rental and keep my car. Needless to say I'm livid at this point having lost a days pay for this. Come to find out the manager, Jerry, was in back the entire time and never came out of his own accord to address this situation. She had a question and that is when I found out the mangers was indeed there. He told me he would speak to his boss about the situation and how to make it right that I sacrificed a days pay for a car they were not careful enough to make sure was finished correctly and ready for pickup. September 24, I have picked up my car for the second time from them. Before leaving I had to ask to speak to Jerry, the manager. You would think he would want to be the only person handling this after the problems. When asked what his boss said about making this right, he informed me that in ten days he never had time to make that call. Jerry has no integrity in following through with what he says or accepting accountability for his businesses mistakes. I asked for his bosses number. I waited to do this review hoping to speak with Randy Razberry. That is the name, along with a phone number, that was written down and given to me by Jerry, stating that was his boss. After more than one voicemail being left I have not received a call back from him either, if I was indeed given accurate information from Jerry, so now I am posting my review. I scheduled a appointment a week ago for my vehicle to be towed into Gerber Collision and glass of Valparaiso. It is for a insurance claim. I had Green's Towing tow it in over $100 Wednesday around 9am 1/23/19. I get a call from Gerber after the truck has been dropped off to them. They tell me I have to come in and sign to authorize the work to be done. I had already sent estimates via-email ,so thought was strange already. I get there thinking they wanted me to sign paper work and get started on my vehicle. Instead the reception lady asks how would you feel if we sent this to one of our sister stores. I ask where? and no answer is given. I ask how long ? no answer is given. I said I have a appointment scheduled here at your Valparaiso Gerber Collison Branch, not across the county or state. Seems as if this is bad business ,as I scheduled a appointment and was denied work the day if is towed in. I had never received a phone call the whole week I scheduled it to come in letting me know of this change. I know they are trying to hire another desk girl and it seems to be needed immediately as your current desk workers cant handle the job. If your business cant handle the work then don't tell me you can or try and push me off on another location because you screwed up. The is a company vehicle not a personal vehicle I needed this. Gerber Collision Valparaiso Branch is responsible for this and shall be accounted for on it. You guys are a waste of everything. I will never look to you in the future or any of my family or friend. They will be persuaded elsewhere. Please people don't put yourself through this torture I went through. Do yourself a favor and find a more reputable place that gets it right the first time. This business does not admit its own mistakes and will make you pay for it in the end. Bad business and management is very rude and heartless. This company was trying to put the towing bills on me for their mistake. I paid $100 to tow it to them with a weeks out appointment. They said the work wouldn't be done at there Valparaiso branch so I said I want it sent back home on Gerbers expense. It was only right to demand my money for towing it in and for them to pay for the tow back to my house. They fought me over their mistake. I had to call corporate and finally they let up but still tried to get out of one of the bills. They offered to pay my original tow but would not pay to have it sent back to my house. Ridiculous. I said you tell your manager he better come up with something better than that. It was a complete battle with them and end result, they paid both bills unwillingly but corporate had to force them to do it. This shows what you could go through don't waste your time. Read other reviews about these guys ,I should have looked first. There shorthanded on employees and the customer pays for it there. I rarely post reviews about anything but this had to come out ,as it's just wrong for a big business to bully the little guys like us. read more

I chose Gerber because the estimate came in $200 dollars less than two other places in town. When I was given the estimate I was also told there was a possibility that it would be even less because of how new my car was. Instead the price was almost $300 more than the original estimate . Obviously I understand this can happen, but the things I was charged extra for should have been known & included in the original estimate. A different place in town that I received an estimate itemized the work needed and it was included in their estimate, so I assumed it should have also been included in Gerbers. I felt like I was somewhat taken advantage of for that, and for that reason will never return to Gerber. They also had my car Wednesday-Monday instead of just Wednesday-Friday like they said. read more

I will never take a vehicle here again. They have had my Mercedes SUV for over 3 weeks now and it is still not finished! It only had minor damage to the trunk. They have claimed they have received the 'wrong parts' several times now. They also informed me that the first 'refurbished' part they tried to put on didn't fit correctly so they had to send for a new one. Ironically, I signed a paper stating that I only wanted 'new' parts directly from Mercedes but they apparently didn't read the paperwork I filled out for them OR they are just trying to bill my insurance for a new part but really are using refurbished ones so they can put more money in their pockets. This place is a joke. I do NOT recommend them!!! read more

I brought my 2013 Ford Explorer to Gerber for front end repairs after an accident. I've seen many body shops in my day between hail damage, storm damage, and now this accident. I've experienced several different auto body shops and their style. In my opinion, Gerber is one of the best, they make sure their clients stay in the loop with their repairs, even if it means calling the customer with bad news. For those of you that are coming on here to write negative reviews about the amount of time it took to get your car done...stop and use your brain for a second. Body shops don't just keep your parts on hand, they HAVE to order them. I'm writing my review in response to Sarah M.'s negative review of 1 star because I think it's unfair to Gerber after seeing my great experience with them. First of all, It doesn't matter how minor the repair is. Body shops are at the mercy of the parts providers. And I HATE it when people go on the internet and make accusations that they could in no way possibly know were true or false. You can't accuse a company of using refurb'ed parts instead of new just to make a buck when you don't have proof of that happened to you. Don't make assumptions like that. That's the kind of false accusations that can ruin a company's reputation. It's rude and very short sighted just because you didn't get your way. Anyway, we asked for OEM parts and we got OEM parts. Parts providers DO make mistakes. That is out of the shops control. Our repairs took over a month and the majority of that time was spent with Gerber waiting for parts that meet their high standards. The actual repairs themselves took less than a week. Gerber kept me involved every single step of the way. They called me to tell me when the parts were ordered, they called me to tell me that 75% of the parts were in, and to my surprise, I got a call again 3 weeks after dropping of my truck. Gerber was calling me JUST to tell me that they received my hood that they ordered, but they weren't satisfied with the quality so they were sending it back. Did I want my truck back asap, YES. But I was very impressed with their unwillingness to accept less than high standard parts. Keeping their clients in the know is what sets this place apart from all other body shops I've used. As far as the repairs, everything was great except the bumper did have a large number of very fine scratches. After reviewing with Gerber, they immediately agreed to buff it out for us. Other than that, everything else was perfect! I definitely recommend Gerber, and I also recommend Geico insurance as well, they were PHENOMENAL with their service during this entire process. read more

I had a situation where my insurance company towed my vehicle to these guys. They had my vehicle for a while and I elected to pay out of pocket to get it towed elsewhere. They kept giving me the runaround, and then their manager called me and told me that it would take them over a month to get the factory part (for a 2014 vehicle), and tried to sell me on a used aftermarket part that wasn't even made for my vehicle. Not only did they insult my intelligence with this, but then they proceeded to lie to me and tell me that it wouldn't void my warranty. Needless to say, I told the manager that I would call him back in a little bit because I was absolutely fuming with anger and had to get off the phone before I said what I REALLY wanted to tell him. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what was going on here. I would guarantee they were billing my insurance company for factory parts and were going to screw me over with some garbage parts.
