I saw Dr. Gerber years ago, but now, as I seek a naturopath in LA, I decided to write a review. I am so grateful the Dr. Gerber accurately diagnosed my conditions. Prior to visiting him, I had seem a few allopathic practicionerd who just wanted to write me prescriptions for antidepressants. Dr. Gerber did blood tests, allergy tests, and hair tests, among others, and accurately identified weakness in some of my vital organs. This was such a relief and I was so happy to have found answers. The issue I had while working with him was in the treatment. His treatment plan for me involved a huge array of supplements. I was spending hundred of dollars a month on these supplements - money I had to really struggle to find. The supplements made me feel better at first, but if I didn't take them I felt yucky again. I didn't want to be paying $300/month for supplements my entire life! Looking back, I realize that his treatment was not designed to heal the body, but rather just to mask the symptoms. I did eventually heal - with out any supplements - by changing my diet and learning how to handle stress in my life. Stress is what had been tearing me apart. I had to restructure my whole life plan, but I did finally get better. So Dr. Gerber did diagnos me correctly, for which I am grateful. But it seemed like his treatment plan was more designed to ensure that I would be giving him money every month for the rest of my life, rather than actually truly healing the body. read more

I go to Gerber Medical for colon-hydrotherapy (aka colonics). Carrie is very knowledgable and makes the appointment not awkward, which I was really worried about. I love all the staff and it's nice they remember me each time I come in. My colonic regiment has allowed my body to detox and fight Lyme disease, but is beneficial to anyone. The room is set up nice and very clean. The machine is for closed system colon-hydrotherapy so you don't smell anything. I've been to multiple colon-hydro therapists and Carrie is by far the best in the area. Gerber Medical also has a store of natural supplements 'n such that I have found very useful and reasonably priced. I like that they offer far infrared saunas, ionic footbaths, ozone therapy, etc. Dr. Gerber is an MD specializing in integrative medicine and oversees all of the therapies offered. This place is a hidden gem in Reno. I'm so glad I found a place locally to get colon-hydrotherapy AND all the other bonus therapies offered by the medical clinic. read more

This is a continuation of my earlier review: as I read other reviews I notice a basic misconception some people alluded to when they went to see Dr. Gerber for the first time. This practice is a wholistc approach to health. I found in working with Dr. Gerber that the more proactive you are; the more you are a partcipant in your own healing; the better the results. As a general rule Western Medicine has a history of fostering the view of the position of the doctor being somewhere on "High." Then these doctors are to pass down 'silver bullet miracle cures.' This is not patient centered medicine, but doctor centered or worse yet 'SPECIALIST' centered medicine. Dr. Gerber heals through teaching and empowering his 'patients' to find their own strength--for them to eventually be able to identify what works and what doesn't for their own healing process: And it is a PROCESS, and knowledge is the most natural purifier. Dr.Gerber presents options with information on expected benefits. He offers many roads to the same place. The patient is expected to become informed and select the route that best suits their needs. Someone wrote that Dr. Gerber prescribed medications just to "keep her dependant and make money." Not true! I had blood work one month, and needed one thing, then the need was shown to be gone on the following blood test so these meds were discontinued. At every step of the way Dr. Gerber presented options, and referenced material for continuing education on the topic. When was the last time anyone in Urgent Care or a standard GP has done that? The word "Diagnosis" means "Guess." Prior to Dr. Gerber I had doctors make "Diagnosis" or Guesses all over the map. 17 different doctors gave 17 different diagnosis! Dr. Gerber's methods allow for the unfolding of a healing process that exposes sometimes two or more apparent "diagnosis" as actually interrlated or under one umbrella: in that they share a common underlying cause. Western Medicine has a history of treating the symptom. Wholistc Medicine is more about balance of a whole that is greater than the sum of the parts. Just be prepared to partcipate in your own healing. Even as no one can tell you if you are hungry or not, no one can tell you all that make up the current checks and balances of your own body ... but you.So few of us are skilled in listening to the needs of our own bodies. Perhaps if we were we would maintain better health and live longer. We all need a knowledgeable guide in this process. For that I have found no one more knowledgeable than Dr. Gerber. Looking over the reviews, I guess there are differing perspectives depending on the medical condition being examined. For me it was MRSA (Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus). MRSA is not the easiest bacteria to eradicate from the body as it can lie dormant in the body. I had a wound that wouldn't heal (I am Diabetic) and as a result lab cultures of the wound always came back as being MRSA. I received therapeutic IV's five times a week for 6 weeks. The MRSA was removed and from that date (2010) I have yet to have a wound culture indicate the existence of MRSA. I am of the philosophy that I am directed to sources that best help my situation. For this reason I would have no problem with doing a consult with Dr. Gerber relating to any possible solution as it relates to a medical condition. read more

BEWARE! Michael Gerber is a fraud. I am re-submitting this review as my previous one was deleted, and I know this man, his wife -- and his practice personally. I live in this neighborhood, and I have been in this office, and I have consulted with them for treatment, originally believing them to be legitimate. BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE. Gerber lost his license to practice medicine in 1984 for negligence, after the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance concluded that he had improperly treated several people. One was a 56-year-old woman with treatable endometrial cancer who died as a result of Gerber's neglect while he treated her for "27 months with Hoxsey herbs, megavitamins, chelation therapy, Wobe Mugos enzymes, Chaparral tea, pangamic acid, benzaldehyde, wheatgrass juice, coffee or enzyme enemas, apricot pits, red clover, and slippery elm." [...] "Gerber contended that he was not attempting to treat the patient's cancer, but rather to nutritionally and metabolically support a patient who had refused conventional treatment. The Board dismissed that assertion because the witnesses for Gerber testified that the above substances typically were used because they were believed to be "cancer inhibitors." The Board did not find convincing the testimony about the nutritional and metabolic value of any of these treatments for a patient with endometrial cancer." Future victims of Gerber are asked to sign a "Patient Statement of Intent" and a "treatment and arbitration agreement" that state, among other things that they "understand that the above named may utilize FDA registered diagnostic tools and unregistered experimental diagnostic tools." and that you are "not associated with and do not represent any enforcement, regulatory, or investigative agency of either the municipal, state, or federal government, or any other investigative agency, which monitors any aspect of health care or the practice of medicine." My wife and I went to this 'clinic' for help in treating chonic lyme disease that had been verified by many blood tests. TDr. Gerber used an EVA machine to analyze my wifes' condition. He stated clearly that she did not have lyme's disease, that her co-infections (also verified by blood tests) were non-existent, that a few of her teeth were 'interfering' along with three pages of other claims. This EVA machine 'reads' energy levels along acupuncture meridians, and that different 'frequencies' were used to diagnose different problems. I have to send a shout out to Gerber Medical Clinic! First of all Riley who answers the phone is one of the 1st genuine kind office staff I have ever run into. She is so professional, caring and really makes you feel important. Boy you sure need that when you're not feeling well! Most office staffs seem to me to be annoyed by everything. I love his style. So caring, so comfortable and always so positive. I never feel doomed, only hope and since I have been going to him for a while I know it just takes some adjustments if I fall back and then knowing I'll be back full speed ahead pretty quickly lasting for months or a couple years. He never makes you feel stupid. He listens and understands that we are all different and we all need our own treatment. I thank God every day for him. If you find Dr. Oz fascinating and love his ways with alternative treatments you will love Dr Gerber! He makes it all happen. Dr. Gerber worked in "the bush" in South America- don't know for how long- he has photographs of the people of the villages all along his hallways. He learned diagnostic techniques like the old fashioned docs who went on your signs and symptoms, instead of incredibly expensive tests. He also DOES do blood testing, every time I go, and has done stool testing- and we were all disappointed when the stool lab changed hands and no longer tests for all the parasites and parameters that they once did- so yes, he had to use the resistance machine- look up Royal Rife and Hulda Clark who used similar devices- these are developments from TESLA technology, who found everything had a vibration and stated he could split the world in half if he had the right vibration. Anything on Tesla is a good read- he was amazing and the real father of most of the technology we have today- in fact patented the radio before Marconi but is conveniently forgotten. Hulda Clark's machine could detect cancer before there was a tumor. Also know that the conventional medicine now acknowledges fat resistance testing- a little device that looks like a playstation. It can detect your fat percentage based on resistance detected. Yes, once considered quackery, conventional medicine just couldn't resist and adopted it. I used it in a health fair in Reno. I was placed at the fat percentage booth. I had not seen that device before and was glad they had it. Gerber helps me manage my adrenal exhaustion, which is no easy thing. Its a fight for my health every day, but I have recovered more with nutrients and natural substances than if I had gone conventional, because they won't even acknowledge adrenal problems until it is too late- and then it is full blown Addison's. Remember, in the 70's when they were learning about "low blood sugar" the doctors didn't "believe" in it, in fact it is prediabetes, and now has an official name- "metabolic syndrome". When the conventional doctors ignore their patients pleas, their patients will look elsewhere until they find validation. Conventional doctors almost never look for the root cause- they usually treat the symptom, even if it means removing an important organ, like the parathyroid for example, instead of looking at vitamin D3 deficiency and vitamin K2 deficiency for the same issue. How many patients have been propelled into a comedy of errors from this type of treatment? Dr. Gerber can tell from my pulse whether I am needing to increase my thyroid dose. read more

I'm glad this man treated my mother in law's brain tumor with B vitamins and some lemon water concoction. I am no MD but nothing screams serious neurological condition like hemiplegia (one sided weakness), difficulty walking and facial droop. My husband and I begged her to go see a physician about her symptoms and she went to Dr. Gerber several times, which we found out about after fact. We found a receipt from his office in her apartment that said cavities and Lyme disease, "is what is causing your weakness today!" Clearly it wasn't the 5x6cm tumor in her brain that caused her to seize and wreck her car while driving. I urge you all to go see a real physician. One who wasn't convicted of treating children with ear infections with coffee enemas instead. (Look it up. It's one of the reasons he lost his California license to practice.) Dr Gerber saved my life about 18 years ago. Can't believe that it has been that long ago. While being in his office for treatments I heard many amazing stores of lives that he had saved and people he had helped. My story was that a doctor had given me a live polio vaccine which I found out later has more than 15 other viruses swimming around in it too. I suffered for over a year getting sicker and sicker. I didn't know that it was the vaccine that had caused my illness. I told my homeopathic doctor who was keeping going that there had to be more we could do. He said :If you find it let me know." I went to the Gerber Medical clinic for my seasonal hay fever allergies on 2/ 25/2014. I was previously treated by Dr. Chase in Truckee for these allergies but he cancelled his allergy program. Mellissa Monaghan, the allergy technician at Gerber Medical, retested me for allergies and also did a food allergy analysis. I have indigestion and gas symptoms that are gerd related but thought it would be wise to double check for food allergies as a contributing factor. The machine she used to test me was a German made device that uses acupuncture points to read electrical responses to allergens. She told me I had 15 food allergies. I was surprised at this information since I had previously had a blood serum test from Dr. Chase that indicated I had a single class 1 food allergy. I asked Mellissa what the rate of false positive readings was with this type of allergy test. She did not know. I have completely eliminated the 15 foods from my diet for 2 weeks and had no change in my indigestion issues. I have spoken with a friend who is a medical doctor at UCSF about this type of allergy testing. He replied as follows: This type of allergy testing is highly variable, operator dependent, and (frankly, in my opinion) bogus. I fully support and advocate for many types of "alternative" medicine (even though I am trained in allopathic medicine) but this electrical testing has no foundation in medicine and seems to me to be a misapplied application of physics in the interest of making money from people seeking to answer various medical diagnostic questions. Skin prick and serum allergy testing has certain limitations but these are very narrow and results of the testing are reliable and reproducible. I also found out on Quackwatch That Dr. Gerber had his medical license revoked in 1984 in California and is practicing in Nevada under a homeopathic license. I have used homeopathic treatments in the past but I would not recommend using Gerber Medical for allergy testing as long as they continue to use this type of device. Gary Gilberg read more
