All I can say is WOW!!! I paid for the Plumeria Package and a bus ride from Waikiki, and let me tell you, I feel like I got WAY more bang for buck. I mean, the bus ride was full of good laughs, high spirits and lots of great Hawaiian history. Then, you arrive to Germain's and get head of line privilege to everything; free photos, shwag, and the package includes table service, so you don't have to wait in line for food. Did I mention the mixed drinks that come with the package. When Its all said and done the pig, which was cooked underground, and all the other side dishes, were absolutely the best. What can I say? The food was good, the staff was AMAZING, the women AND men were gorgeous and I had the time of my life. I recommend Germain's Luau to any one passing through Oahu!! read more

I think there's not too many places where the performers can be this loud. It definitely would not work near a residential area. Food was your basic Hawaiian fare, which is good. Waitress was nice. This luau is billed as a "backyard Hawaiian luau", and as someone that grew up in Hawaii, I would say this definitely accurate. This does also, however, mean that is is considerably more "low key" than a larger production, such as the PCC. That said, I personally enjoyed that aspect of it...but my guests from the mainland were hoping for more. For the most part, the show was good-ish....but again, very low key. There were very rarely more than 3 dancers on the stage at a time. I can't say there was anything "wrong" with the food, it wasn't horrible by any means. It was okay. The location being outside and on the beach is beautiful, but good luck if the weather is bad...forget about rain, if it was even just a windy day it would've been a rough time. So, generally speaking I did have a good experience, definitely not a bad one. However, the reason for my 3 star review is that I personally didn't appreciate when the MC started the night out by quoting bible scriptures. She said "in Hawaii, we are very spiritual", and then went on to quote the bible. I fully believe in religious freedom, and will fight for everyone to retain that right, but as a non christian, I most certainly did not pay $175/person to have the bible pushed on me. Add to that the fact that anyone who knows Hawaiian history knows that it was christian colonizers that essentially disposed of Hawaiian culture, and it just comes across as weird and inappropriate. When she mentioned people in Hawaii being "spiritual", I thought she was about to tell a story of Hawaiian volcano goddess, which would have been at least educational for many, but that was not the case. read more

This is one of the few luau's I found that's on sand and next to the ocean! The scenery is great and there's a really cool spot to take pictures with the water behind you. Not sure why, but Germaine's has a few different websites and booking brokers. I'm quite frugal, so trust me and go to this one for the best price: germainesluau.com The setting is really awesome but it's tucked away in this industrial park surrounded by some old buildings. The parking lot is fenced and has plenty of parking. They also have super friendly lot attendants if you have any questions. As you walk to the ticketing office, watch out for buses entering because they get a good crowd of people from Waikiki. The ticket agents are also really nice. We got a shell lei with our entrance tickets and they took our group picture before we walked in. We attended on a Wednesday and there were still a lot of people there. Once you are in, it's kind of confusing. The seating and stage are there as you enter but no ushers to direct you. There is an adult bar near the ocean side and a non-alcoholic bar on the opposite side. We received 1 free adult drink with our admission. The cups are small but they pour them strong. The non-alcoholic drinks are unlimited. Bartenders were very friendly. Bring cash for tips. PRO TIP: grab a few extra free drinks to place at your table to reserve your seat(s) if you want to walk around There is also a gift shop and an area where you can enter into a raffle near the non-alcoholic bar. We purchased the cheap seats towards the back and had no issues viewing the show. The more expensive seats were closer but we didn't notice any difference in experience. The nice thing about our seats was that we got an entire table to ourselves. Each table also came with a wrapped stick of freshly sliced pineapple as an appetizer. The show started with introductions and some basic luau etiquette. Then the MC directed us towards the back of the venue where the pig was being cooked underground. They have a separate viewing area there to see the ceremony of them removing the pig. The MC also goes back there and narrates the whole process. Once everyone has returned to their seats, the show continues with the dancers and some audience participation. The performance is totally family friendly with jokes and some fun table competitions. The buffet is set up towards the back and the tables are dismissed in groups. I believe they started with the front seats but our table was too much into our conversations to really notice or care. The variety was plenty. There was rice, buns, meats, veggies, fruit, and dessert. Most of it was Hawaiian so I have no idea what the items are called. My first round was to try a bit of everything and I liked it all. On my 2nd round, I took in some more of the fresh roasted pork. The food is unlimited but I was full after that. The show was entertaining up until their goodbyes. The performers do come out briefly to visit and take pictures with the guests but left before we could get to thank them. This was my third time at Germaine's and this time I was very disappointed. It was supposed to rain so they gave ponchos which was nice, but they rushed through the entire thing because of rain cutting it short by 45 minutes to an hour. Everyone was wet already and we were not Informed they were going to be finishing early, so we had to slam our drinks and didn't even have time to go to the bathroom before we had to board the bus. If they aren't going to cancel when rain is imminent then at least have the entire show. The food was good as usual but next time we come we might look elsewhere because of the experience this time. read more

I have heard great things about this luau so we figured we would try Germaine's for a new experience. This luau was similar to the first one I had experienced but I felt like this one was just missing a little something. As most luaus its almost picnic table style and you will get to meet others from your table. The staff was great and overall the show was nice but there is not alot of places to roam here or activities before the performance starts. I have been to others with hands on activities like lei making and others fun things so we found ourselves just sort of hanging out for a good hour before the festivities. The buffet was good and you can go as much as your stomach desires so thats nice but everything felt so strict (which I get they are trying to avoid chaos). One thing I will say is their drink situation is great. You get a certain amount of tickets depending on the packagr you got but my best advice is go to their gift store and purchase their souvenir cups. It will get you twice as much drink, even those alcoholic beverages that require that ticket, so you will be stretching your tickets. The show itself is entertaining and everyone does such a great job. The hostess voice was full of kindness and love but it got confusing because there was also a male host and he had a loud upbeat tone so it would go back and forth. They had a beautiful concept going with the hawaiian wedding song and I felt it would jave addef for a nice dancing opportunity to dance with your loved one but then they immediate shifted to a loud almost war-like dance/performance. If you are into fire and all that you will definitely see some but if you are looking for that romantic feel this might not cut it for you. Overall still worth checking out. Their hibiscus package is a nice medium because your table is reserved before you get there and you get 3 drink tickets each (dont forget that souvenir cup to make your tickets go far!). read more

The Luau was fantastic, the staff were friendly and provided instructions when we initially arrived. We took a picture with one of the performers with a beautiful beach backdrop before the meal and show and this would be given to us at the end. We were briefly shown how the pig is cooked underground and we were then served a delicious full meal. The show started immediately and the performances were truly outstanding. This consisted of many of the cultural dances from the different Polynesian Islands. We particularly enjoyed the fire dances. First off, you have to be in a happy mood and be ready to participate and just plain "hangloose" while in the tour bus. I have to admit, some of the things that our tour guide, Cousin Greg, made us do was silly, but it was our chose whether we want to be silly or not. We were all on vacation and Cousin Greg just wanted us all to have a good time. It was really cool to see the Imu Ceremony (removal of the pig from the roasting pit) being done by two buff guys (one guy being our tour guide). The all-you-can-eat luau feast was so delicious, I enjoyed the luau pork with rice the best along with BBQ chicken and desserts! $58 is worth it for the food, entertainment and 3 drink tickets. A few locals recommended this luau to us and it was pretty close to where we were staying(Wainae) so we gave it a shot. It's $85 per adult, which includes the show and Hawaiian buffet. To be honest, the show is pretty entertaining and funny at times but it's probably not worth the price. It's mainly just traditional dances and some crowd interaction. The food is decent but you can get this kind of food at any Hawaiian restaurant. In fact, the pig wasn't even as good as the one I've eaten at poké restaurants. Luckily, Germaine's is pretty affordable (compared to others that I have looked at) and we even upgraded to the Hibiscus Package. At least I am old enough to take advantage of the 3 drink tickets now. A list of pros and cons... Pros: - Optional transportation at additional $20 per person. This place is far from Waikki, so the bus definitely helps. - Perfect views of the sunset. - Reserved seating was nice, but the stage seems big enough for those in the back to see as well. - Dance performances were great. - FIRE DANCER WHOOO. Cons: - LOTS of flies everywhere! It would touch the food at the buffet, land in our drinks, everywhere! I don't remember it being this bad last time. Definitely a turn off. - Even without flies, food was just okay. Menu is very Americanized, and not much variety. - Some parts of the program were super cheesy. This place sucks. $80 for the luau. Like others said, we arrived at 515pm, had to wait until all 4 busses with more customers arrived before the program began. They're pulling some old pig out from a microwave somewhere. Had a great time with all my peeps until it was time to get our food. We had to friggin wait until the people who paid more go get food first. Da fuq? Fine. I'm hungry, it's gonna be great, I'm gonna chow down 3 plates of this shit! Skipped the dumb salad, grabbed some Mac salad, some wet noodles, BBQ chicken, and left a lot of room on my paper tray for the beef and Kalua Pig! Friggin Auntie serving it was cheap as hell! Gave me 2 ounce portions of each! Sat my ass down, and began to experience nirvana. Hungry.... I've never been so fuck1n disappointed as much as this meal. This Mac salad was the cheapest on this island! Bland as hell. The wet noodles? (they call it long rice, STFU!) THAT NOODLE WAS PATHETIC. How the eff do you even screw up noodles? Aside from the beach front view the luau was piss poor. It was terrible from the start. Being a local, you don't get to experience this very often. As a local, we drive ourselves to the luau and on the drive there, you pass through some run down industrial areas that make you wonder if your heading in the right direction. When you arrive, that all changes. For people who drive themselves, there usually is a lot of parking as the tour buses have a separate area and turn around. After you check in, they take a photo of your group that you can pick up later if you want it. We had the Hibiscus Luau package and it was good enough for us as neither one of us minds getting up to get our own food. My mother in law was with us and she is not too mobile on the sand, but Germaine's had one of the hostesses bring her food to our table! She was careful to ask what her preferences and known allergies were before going to get the food. The food was very good! It starts with the ceremonial imu and the kalua pig being removed from the ground. There were 4 buffet lines and the choices were a lot. There were four types of salad, teriyaki chicken, fried fish, teriyaki beef, kalua pork, haupia, poi, lomi salmon, poi, kim chee, and two different cakes to choose for dessert. The entertainment is fun to watch. The performers look like they are having fun and really engaging with the audience. The show had more South Pacific type dancers such as Tahitian, Maori, and Samoan than Hawaiian but it was still entertaining. On the bus ride to Germaine's I started reading reviews from yelp, google, etc and I started having buyers remorse from the many bad reviews, so I came in expecting the worst. Do not let those negative reviews get to you. I don't know what outrageous expectations these people have but my wife and I had the best time. The food was great, the show was high energy and entertaining, and the staff was very friendly. We paid for the top Plumeria pkg and it was NOT worth $445. Best part of this Luau is the ocean view and perhaps some of the employees' friendliness. Outside of that, everything was meh! Food was bland and very limited in options, comparable to having cafeteria foods. Our pkg included 3 drinks. We stuck with wine and beer bc the cocktails were nothing to brag about. Show was also under performed, nothing spectacular. Ambiance could have been more. They could have tiki torches to add to the mood, and more importantly, help to keep the flies away. The website says you can entering parking at 5 but they made us wait, than entered and had to do a circle for a pitcher we did not want. Not really handicap friendly, i'm disabled but noticed it would be impossible to use my wheelchair here but i can walk with limits, i guess food that this place had nothing to really do, no prior events, gift shop was bleak, we had plumaria package that just means you sit closer in very hard wood picnic benches and get to eat at the very limited buffet (seriously 5 sides and 3 meats) the area was full of flies all over the food and a lady fanning the bread which wasn't even warm or very soft and 2 small deserts of a cake and coconut squares, rice but no soy sauce ! i can't imagine how uneventful it would be if it was busier. the drinks were great and the entertainment was enthusiastic and fun but very limited, the service staff was amazing ! but the event staff could learn from the bar staff and entertainment, they weren't very approachable. overall, i've been to paradise cove and the Polynesian luau that far surpass this, for the same price ! read more

Great for price! No reason to book upgraded tables on weekdays. Plenty of room. Drinks are quite expensive, but tasty. If you have 1-2, no problem. If you're a bigger drinker, maybe the higher end packages are for you (although you'll still pay extra cash to get top shelf and doubles). This ISN'T your PCC! That's good to me. 5:30-9, and you can drive so no buses necessary, plus more local vibe on the beach (instead of Mormon PCC that takes all day & a bus)! Dancers were adequate with a few phenomenal Tahitian female dancers on each end! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun, local Lu'au by the beach. Best luau ever! Germaine's is located near Barbers Point lighthouse and beach. At first you may think it's in a shanty town but it's in an industrial area. Upon entry to the venue you are greeted by a member of the staff. Once you check in you are shown the seating. Premium packages are seated in the front and basic in the back. Prior to the show you are invited to watch them pull the pig out of a traditional oven that was used. After that the magic begins! I would definitely recommend this to everyone. Wear mosquito repellant! I should have read some of the reviews warning about the number of mosquitos. I got 6 bites on my legs despite my efforts to fend them off. These bites are no joke and swelled up to the size of a golf ball within less than 24 hours. The show itself is definitely quality. They have very talented and attractive performers of both genders. The costume and dancing were beautiful and entertaining. They even had a fire show. The food was quite good. I was told not to expect much from luaus but I really enjoyed the buffet. They had a good variety of food and everything was delicious. It's all you can eat so I ended up eating way too much. My only complaint is the bar. I bought premium seats so I got premium drink tickets but the drinks were so weak. They also have premium cocktails that require 2 premium drink tickets each. We have gone to a number of luaus here on Oahu Germaine's is outstanding. From the people that helped us park and get into the facility to all the staff that greeted us they were professionals and made you feel like family. The food was great and the atmosphere is even better. The performers were walking around before the performance and talking everyone and made us feel welcome. The Hula show was very well done. The fire dancers are all amazing. The young lady fair dancer was superb, and the chief was an artist to watch. I would highly recommend Germaine's luau to anyone on Oahu. After friends/family had recommend this luau, I was excited to celebrate my Husband's birthday dinner here. When we arrived, we were greeted right away. We were taking a family selfie & the host offered to take a photo of us, super sweet of her to do that. Check in was a little slow, but I felt it was on Island time, so that's okay. We get our photo taken by the photographer, which was a plus, but man.... I really wish she could've been standing on a step stool, or at least standing higher than we were. Chin photos are cool and all, but not when your entire family develops an extra 15 of them trying to look at her while she is practically to the ground pointing the camera upwards. Still bought the photo though, for $20 why not. Just can't go on the Christmas cards now. The view though, WOW! Sunset, ocean, WOW! Talk about beautiful. You're walking on sand, so just remember that when you try and navigate around. Now, the show itself was good, the dancers were entertaining and definitely kept the vibe of the crowd going. The MC was really hard to understand. He spoke really fast and I could make out maybe 4 out of every 15 words he spoke. My kids, couldn't make out anything except for "cousin" The food was "eh" - it's buffet style, lots of options and is your typical Hawaiian Luau food. I wish I would've opted for the Veggie option as I couldn't manage to eat any of the meat. The white rice was AMAZING though, thank goodness for that! :) The fire show at the end had our jaws dropping! I mean, WOW! At the end, you could take photos of the dancers. Sadly we were told to come early because doors open at 5, which is absolutely wrong, it's assigned seating and we arrived at 4:45.. show/dinner didn't start until 7:30, total waste of time. After "starting" there was so many awkward silences and not at all entertaining. The MC was quiet, I'm not sure if it's a technical issue or she wasn't loud enough. Food was horrible. Dancers were very good. But overall experience was sad. read more
