What a great place for lunch. The whole place is wrapped in windows, not walls, so you can see if it's crowded or not, before you come in. I just happened to be near here and hungry, so when I saw that there were only three people in line, in I went. Everyone ordered quickly, so I was sitting down with my table number, before I knew it! I think I waited about ten minutes, before my food was sitting in front of me. My thin, hot ranch fries begging for ketchup, flanked a tall chicken sandwich that could only be eaten using a napkin wrap! Wow, what a first bite!! Crunchy, hot and delicious! Just as I am getting into the bulk of my lunch, about 20 people ramped into the place! Boy was I happy I got here when I did! Seeing how busy it is here from outside, with the large windows, is a plus! Get napkins and ketchup, before you sit down. They are on a caddy that is hard to miss. After a dental appointment, my wife and I headed out to Germain's for lunch. Recommended by my dentist and featured on DDD, we were looking forward to trying this place out. We walked in, checked out the menu and placed our orders after asking the woman behind the counter a couple of questions. My wife ordered their K.F.C. (Korean Fried Chicken) and I ordered the Angry Bird after asking about the spiciness level. The woman told me it's spicy but added that if you like spicy food then it's manageable. We also ordered Diet Coke (no Coke Zero) in a bottle and a La Croix drink in a can. No soda machine here. We were given a number to place on our table and waited for our meals...and waited...and waited some more. I think it must've been like 10-15 minutes before we were served our meals and we got there before the heavy lunch rush! We shrugged it off thinking, ooh, it's fresh out of the fryer and the chicken and fries will be piping hot. Nope! Our meals were warm but not hot. My wife liked the flavor of her KFC but didn't think Korean flavors really shined through. Having lived in Korea for a couple of years, I think she might have a good grip on Korean flavors. My angry bird was indeed angry! The spiciness level seemed like it was 7 or 8 out of 10. It was so spicy to me (and I love spicy food) that it had me sweating, with beads of sweat flowing down from my gleaming head. The spice level took away from the flavors. I admit, half of my issue with this place was the fact I went on a Saturday at lunch. The place was PACKED, incredibly busy, and when you ordered, there wasn't a menu or sign, so you had to know to look up what you wanted before it was your turn to order. They didn't ask if you wanted to dine in or carry out, so it was a bit awkward trying to find a spot to sit, especially because it was raining so half of the outdoor seating was soaked. The complimentary water was pretty gross, lots of floaters, and the wait was pretty long (again, it was packed on a Saturday so I can't REALLY blame them). But the food was delicious!! So, I'd definitely stop here again, but I'd probably see if I could do carry out instead. read more

It really only covered half the bun. Not sure if this is normal but as I looked at other sandwiches passing me by, I definitely got the impression that my portion was atypical. We usually come to Germain's for their chicken sandwiches at lunch or dinner, but decided to check out their Sunday Brunch (they only do it on the 3rd Sunday of every month). Totally worth it. The chicken and waffles were the best thing we had. Chicken was hot, crispy, and juicy, and the brown butter syrup on top was amazing. The mochi waffle had a chewy texture that was different but really good. Favorite thing on the menu for sure. The steak sando was huge and super filling. Tender ribeye with chili mayo, caramelized onions, arugula, and sun-dried tomato spread. Kinda reminded me of a roast beef sandwich but way more flavorful. Fries on the side were perfect too. Tried the Peaky Keen mocktail with peach flavors and a tajín + chamoy rim. Tasted good but way too much ice and not enough drink. The lemon ricotta pancakes were massive. Fluffy with crispy edges, and the limoncello honey syrup was delicious without being too sweet. Definitely had to take some home. Brunch was busy but fun. They have little games at the bar like tic-tac-toe and hook and ring which made it more chill. Service was quick and food came out in less than 10 minutes. Its very rare we repeat a restaurants but Germain's just hits every single time. We have come here multiple times and every time the quality and flavor is always there. I visited Germain's after a recommendation from my specialty doctor at Shands. I was a bit overwhelmed when I walked in and looked at the menu because the various flavors of chicken tenders looked tempting, but so did the options for chicken sandwiches. The lady at the counter got me with the recommendation to try the garlic parm-style chicken sandwich. I must say it was a great choice! Not only does it come with garlic parm sauce, but it is also adorned with their special sauce (think Big Mac sauce), tomato, lettuce, and topped off with a bread and butter pickle. Normally I do not love bread and butter pickles because I am a dill pickle or spicy pickle girl, but those lovely chips were the perfect way to top off this sandwich. I was able to finish the sandwich (look at how large it is in the picture) but was only able to eat about 1/4 of the fabulously flavored fries. They had herbs and spices topping them that I could not nail down but who cares because they were fresh and delicious! I also drank a passion fruit sweet tea, which was recommended by the server at the counter. It tasted more like juice than tea, but I was able to try it before I bought it and if it is a staple, I recommend it. My husband got a light lager to accompany his giant classic chicken sandwich. The restaurant has cute modern stylings and a cute covered outdoor area with large checkers that can be played atop a blanket board. I am recommending my friends and family should stop here when they are passing through or visiting because it is worth the 15 or so minutes off the highway. read more

As seen on yelp/Google review, they have really good rating, so I was excited to find out whether this place lives up to the hype. Came here for lunch and there was a short line, but not too long. The inside is spacious for a burger place and they have plenty of outdoor seats as well. We got Korean fried chicken burger and classic burger. With first bite, I was amazed by how tender, crispy, and well seasoned the chicken was and the buns were really soft and buttery, which complemented the chicken. I had tried Germain's food truck a few years ago and sadly got a raw chicken patty. I had already left the premises so I didn't say anything. It was enough to put me off that I never went back. I went through Yelp and Google reviews and was convinced to come back. I came with my bf and we each ordered 2 different chicken sandwiches. I always split food with him so we cut our sandwiches in half and dove in. After it we were hungry but not because of portion but because we had not eaten since 9am and it was already 7pm. So we decided to try a third and split it in half as well. The sandwiches we chose were The Good feather, Rooster Deluxe & Honey Bird. Each was so delicious. They were curated so beautifully. The Rooster Deluxe felt a little plain to me. But The Good feather had this Parmesan garlic sauce that was just so decadent and I was dreaming about how that sauce would taste on some wings. Probably the best homemade parm sauce I have had. Very balanced . The toppings offered a great balance to help with the richness of the sauce. I would say the Good feather and the Honey Bird was my favorite. Honey bird was messy but in a good way. It was sticky and the right amount of spicy for me. It offered a sweet and sour flavor. The fries were ok nothing to brag about I wish they had more flavor. The first batch of fries we had tasted like McDonald's and were soggy but the second batch was crunchy and hot. I will preface by saying that I don't eat chicken and only accompanied my gf who really wanted to try it so I did not try their ~main thing~. I'm sure the chicken is much better than what I got since their business is absolutely booming. First off, the good: the staff is very nice and the inside is very cute and such a vibe to be honest. Very cute cafe/diner vibes. The passionfruit black tea was also pretty yummy. However, the sandwiches were kinda pricy for what they were. I got the only non-chicken sandwich which was the Chic'n Little which had tofu instead. It was $16 which I felt was a little obscene since it is already expensive for a sandwich but it was also $2-4 more than the chicken sandwiches even though it has no meat. The flavor was not bad but again, a bit too expensive to just be what is essentially a decent sandwich. The tofu was also too thick in my opinion. The outside crust had some flavor baked into it but the rest of the tofu was plain and so the majority of the tofu was underwhelming. I feel like if the tofu was thinner (or even two thin pieces to make the original thickness) or if it had been marinated in a sauce before being fried it would have been better. However, this was not the case. i appreciate there being a vegetarian option but it definitely could have been executed better. Lastly, I found a curly hair on my tofu which was off-putting to say the least. read more

The sauce was similar to the chick-fil-a sauce in that it was mildly mustardy but unfortunately it was so overpowering I couldn't taste much of anything else. Ranch fries were great, if over salted. The hibiscus lemonade was very sweet but otherwise tasted wonderful, and not overly floral. Overall, I wasn't disappointed but I do believe this place is overhyped. When I pulled in, the location is next to a thrift shop called Flashbacks and parking was readily available. The menu has a great variety from salads, apps, and chicken sandwiches - the main attraction. As I glanced over the menu, I wanted something with spice. Thankfully, the fries come with the sandwich. Based on the amazing host's recommendation - she stated to chose the honey bird. The honey bird comes on a brioche bun with hot honey, pickles, secret sauce, and a side of ranch fries. I also ordered the seasonal lemonade which was a strawberry peach flavor. I dined in and the restaurant is pretty clean. My food came out in pretty good time and I was in love with the presentation. The honey bird was dripping with hot honey and just looking like a warm hug on the plate. My first bite was pretty messy, but the brioche bun was so fresh and buttery. The chicken has a good flavor to it, with the combo of the secret sauce and hot honey giving it a sweet and savory flavor. I do however wish the hot honey was more hot like Mike's Extra Hot Honey level, I just really love spicy foods. The house pickles were delicious but the stand out for me were the ranch fries. Every fry was perfectly coated in this salty ranch seasoning and the fries were crispy and fresh. I must say I left Germain's very satisfied and already plotting my next meal there. Germain's Restaurant in Gainesville, Florida is not to be missed. This is a casual dining spot with counter service ordering and table delivery. The restaurant was recently featured on the Food Network's show, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. I think the restaurant opened approximately two years earlier and operated as a food truck before that. I think the show filmed the restaurant in December 2024, but the episode aired in May 2025. Although the items they showed on the episode looked fantastic, we had already stopped at three other restaurants the same day, and had to split something. We ordered the What the Flock for $12.00, which included all white meat chicken tenders with ranch fries. We chose the secret sauce and the hot honey sauce for dipping. Let me say it was a good thing we split this entrée. The meal comes with three large chicken tenders that appear more like chicken breasts, they are so big! The chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The batter clung to every bite. The meal also came with a generous portion of the ranch fries, which quite simply may be the best fries I have ever tried. They were crispy and flavorful and just a total winner. I'm not sure what the secret sauce is but I highly recommend it. My dining companion and I tried to figure it out. It was not mayo based, as was shown on the episode. It may have had some worcestershire sauce in it. But totally delicious! One of the nice things the restaurant does is serve every meal with a bottle of chilled water and glasses for everyone in the party. We still ordered a seasonal lemonade, which I think was strawberry at this time. The restaurant décor is bright, simple, and uncluttered. There is indoor seating, bar seating and outdoor patio seating. There was ample parking and the restaurant shares the strip center with a vintage clothing store and a record shop. Such a cool vibe about this area. The staff were friendly and efficient. I saw the chef emerge from the kitchen. He was the one doing the cooking on the episode!
