Shelf too high and with exposed screws.
    Sharon S.

I am happy other people had a good experience but for us it has been a nightmare. We contracted after attending a presentation. All we wanted was a new kitchen with the exact same layout as our old kitchen. The first plan the designer presented reversed the kitchen layout; the second plan she put the sink directly beside the stove. When I told the designer her pipe location measurements were wrong and, anyway, the plan left us no prep space and would require major plumbing work the designer refused to admit a mistake was made (even though I showed her photos showing her the measurements were wrong!). Additionally, the designer kept giving us the wrong cabinet style. Against my gut feeling we continued working with them as we had too little time to shop around and we did really like the Leicht cabinet finishes- they were exactly what we were looking for. After finally receiving a workable plan, we approved it but had to correct the cabinet style yet again. We went on vacation in July 2019 and let our contractor oversee German Kitchen's contractor's installation. More mistakes! They made one open shelf too high over the refrigerator and left screws exposed (telling us this is just how it is supposed to be), did not give us the trash/recycling center we ordered, the contractor used pins for some shelves that were not meant for the shelves, did not give us handles on two cabinet doors (which according to Leicht in Germany should have been ordered with handles). After weeks of calls and emails (I won't get into all that drama) we finally got the pins and a trash/recycling center -although not the bigger one (that we paid for) in the original plan. (They said the one ordered would not fit the under sink cabinet- in my opinion, they are effectively telling me they do not know the product they are selling.) After weeks of back and forth and, finally involving the owner, at the end of February 2020, they corrected the cabinet over the refrigerator (and covered the screws!). They wanted us to pay for the correction and tried to insist the cabinet had to be that high even though we made the height we wanted very clear with the designer over several meetings and the designer subsequently admitted in an email that a mistake was made during installation. Also, we never were able to get specifics on how the cabinets were priced from the designer. This is our fourth renovation and we understand mistakes happen but, in my opinion, incompetence is refusing to admit or correct mistakes. We love the cabinets but, in our opinion, the customer service was awful.

It was a pleasure working with them from complete design made by Yoram Zioni to installation phases.

Salesperson (Laila P) was late, was so frazzled and disconnected she provided zero guidance when looking at tile. I think I knew more about the product than she did. Follow up emails to her about tile questions were 100% incorrect ("our tiles are ceramic, non-porous tiles. They are NOT natural stone."). That is UNTRUE!!! Delivery was a joke. Per contract, delivery was with a pallet jack. They arrived with an enormous forklift that could not get down my street (or any NYC street). See image. Dropped it 150 ft from my home. Had to carry 1,350 pounds of tile 150 ft into my apartment. Customer service after that was short and rude (Sedina O). Contested delivery fee with credit card and won. Finally tried to return tiles and they refused because I reached out to them 46 days after delivery (policy is 45 days). Really??!! Go somewhere else where you can buy the same tile for less money. They charge extra so they can pay for their MASSIVE showrooms all over the world. The sales people there are useless. Good luck getting any support from corporate. They are non existent.

I sent all specs and what material I wanted. I went to the store -- open to 6 on the website. No appointment indicated as needed and this was quick. I got there at 5. Took me over 1/2 hour to get there and I get promptly turned away. Excuse - website is not how to contact us and we are busy so here is who you should contact. I got 1 minute for a 30 minute walk. Customer support here is virtually non-existent. At least for small orders.

What stood out immediately was that she didn't just try to "sell" me a bathroom. She actually paid attention to how I live day to day and designed the space around that. She noticed little things I didn't even think about, like where lighting should hit the mirror, storage that wouldn't make the room feel crowded, and materials that looked expensive without feeling cold or overly trendy. The biggest difference with NYKB was that the process never felt chaotic. Usually when people talk about renovations it's horror stories, delays, and constantly chasing people down. I never felt that here. Everything felt intentional and handled. Maia somehow managed to make a renovation feel calm, which I didn't think was possible. Now that it's finished, my bathroom genuinely feels like part of a luxury hotel suite but still personal and comfortable. Everyone who comes over comments on it immediately. Looking back, choosing NYKB was probably the best decision I made for the project. Maia has an eye that's very hard to find.

Her comment posted to my previous Yelp review gives you an idea as to the type of people you can expect to work with over at NY Rainbow. As posted back in 2013 (and as I reminded Wendy) my Yelp review is an accurate recap of my experience wth NY Rainbow. Nowhere in my review did not indicate that I was a customer or that any money exchanged hands. Everything that's there is an accurate summary of my grueling experience with NY Rainbow. Emails and phone calls are the cost of doing business. As I told Kris and Wendy previously, I was on vacation (personal time) during most of my correspondence with them, so my time was as valuable (and arguably more valuable) than theirs. I made the scope of work known and very clear from the get go and I admitted FROM THE START it was a smaller project. If they didn't want to take on my smaller project, they should have said so at the start and saved everyone the time and frustration.
