This pile of wings is legendary.

I still love stopping here. Can beat this old school tavern. They have some really good beers on tap. Good service and the platter of wings is always my go to. I like the fried crispy skin and the buffalo sauce is perfect.

If you want food quickly, I'd advise against it. I was there around noon and a patron who came in after us was quoted an hour for a to-go order of the wings. Speaking of wings...these are indeed in the top two of wings I've had in the Des Moines metro. Crispy without having to ask and the sauce--which uses Frank's Red Hot as a base provides heat, but not in an obnoxious manner. I also had the cauliflower...seemed to be closer to battered versus breaded. On a plus note, you get a bottle of ranch at the table--no tiny cups and upcharges for more. The bartender serving us was very polite but very harried--it seemed with all the kitchen orders, a food runner was needed.

Gerri's did not disappoint. Amazing wings. They had a nice crispness to it. Just enough sauce. We really did not need the basket of fries we decided to share between the two of us. But they were cooked perfectly. So delicious. Nice dive bar feel. The bartender was very friendly and chatted with us as it was just after the lunch rush when we arrived.

Only half the order

Grabbed wing platter to go. While waiting enjoyed a cold beer. The bartender was friendly and efficient. After drive home the wings were still piping hot. Upon trying them the wings were fantastic. Sauce was not too hot but had just enough heat.

Giving this place a 5-star rating for one reason: THE WINGS!!!! If you're looking for wings in Des Moines, this is the place. They only serve them one way: bone in, buffalo sauce, and on a tray of 30. If you're ready for your fill of wings, make no mistake. This place is for you.

Great wings and the service was impeccable! We went with a large group and she was able to keep track of everyone's order.

Bacon-wrapped scallops were grilled to perfection, but could have used some seasoning. My wife said her French onion soup was too salty. The hashbrowns were a joke -- unseasoned mashed potatoes in a mold that was browned on top. No hashbrown texture at all. My wife's sirloin steak was quite good. However, my $56 dry-aged 12-oz ribeye was a disappointment. I expected a melt-in-your-mouth experience. What I got was a somewhat dry piece of meat with very little marbling, but with a chunk of fat in the middle. Both steaks were poorly seasoned. Steaks should be prepared with a ample amount of salt and pepper. Adding it after the fact isn't the same.

Train wreck-in every way. We flew into Des Moines from AZ and a friend suggested this restaurant…read more We arrived at 8pm for our 8:15pm reservation. There were two other tables in the whole restaurant so needless to say it was quiet. Our server was sweet but obviously not trained on efficient and fast service but was probably encouraged to run like a bunny when things go sideways. We ordered two glasses of wine and an old fashioned. Figured I just got off of a plane so why not get the evening going with some bourbon and have a Plan B with the glass of wine when I am ready. Two glasses of wine were delivered but no old fashioned. Who does this? Anyhow, old fashioned came out next. We ordered a cup of soup and a small salad to start with and then ordered a burger, medium, with fries and the pasta bolognese. The soup and salad came out but there was a long stretch of time before entrees came out. When they finally arrived the burger was very rare inside so my wife let the server know and she apologized and scurried off. I tried to wait but it was getting cold so I slowly nibbled. After 20 minutes, I flagged down our server and asked if the burger was coming out and she said "oh, do you want another one"? It was now 9pm and they were closing but we were not leaving until we enjoyed a medium burger. When the new burger came out, she said the "owner made it himself. We cut it in half to check the temperature it was still pink. How can an owner of a restaurant not know how to make a medium-medium well burger? And why didn't he walk out and deliver it himself and apologize? Not a word! My dish was finished and plate was gone while my wife finally had her burger. We had planned to eat together that was not going to happen tonite. She ate half and we took the rest of it to go. With wine, an old fashioned and the worst dinner experience, we spent $174 with tip. Huge mistake. Here is my tip: train your servers on how to take care of customers. To the cooks, invest in a thermometer if you can't tell when a burger is medium. To the owner, step out and make sure your customers are happy and enjoying your food.

The cocktails range from fun to classic. Most of the cocktails are served with a large ice cube, which is perfect for whiskey. The service is attentive and just know that if everything is crafted to order, it does take a few minutes. I loved my Pork Torta. Fried pork topped with ham and Swiss. With truffle fries. Win! Salmon, perfect. Salad, fresh. Strawberry balsamic dressing does land on the sweeter side. One person in our group got the public defender ( cheese burger ). He said it was ok. From the very fun judicial decor to the friendly staff, this bar's atmosphere is perfect! We were summoned here after hearing about this fun new spot and it did not disappoint. They have a great cocktail menu that brings both creativity and variety to satisfy anyones taste. I had the strawberry summons and it was delicious, while my sister also enjoyed her rosemary rest mocktail. For dinner the burgers were the hit! High quality, well-seasoned, juicy meat with creative but tasty toppings. The truffle fries were very good, but could have used some more parm on top. That was the only critique. Overall we really enjoyed this new spot and verdicts in: we will be back!
