The wine menu for the flight is actually embedded with flower seeds! Also enjoyed hot goat cheese dip, fingerling potatoes, Spanish meatballs and scallops. Everything was fresh and tasty. Sitting on the patio is a unique experience. We encountered a slight tilt, many overly load mufflers and some delightfully well behaved French poodles. Service was kind and attentive. I was only in town for one night so I was torn on where to go to dinner. I looked through Yelp and reservation sites to see what was available and then honed in on what might be a wow dinner. I had a few options, but ultimately landed on Gervais and Vine and made a reservation. On the recommendation of our server, we started with a bottle of In Sheep's Clothing and got to ordering. I had already scoured the menu before coming in so I was pretty sure I knew what I wanted. I love that it's smaller portions so you can order different dishes and try a bunch all at once. We started with the baked brie which I think had an apricot spread plus some fruit and bread. Then we did the petit filet mignon, pork with gorgonzola cream sauce, spicy shrimp gambas, and the seared jumbo scallops. This may sound like too much for two people and you would be right but it was so delicious. I highly recommend everything we had. If I had to choose some standouts, the shrimp were phenomenal and I'm still thinking about them. The biggest surprise was the pork. It was a good size portion in comparison and the cream sauce was so good. Honestly, if you followed this order to a T or any variation of it, you can't go wrong. We weren't rushed in any way so in lieu of dessert we took our time finishing that bottle of wine. While there were some other menu items that jumped out at me, I would absolutely come back and order the exact same thing again. This was one of my favorite meals this year. read more

My sister and I decided on this place due to the location to the Koger Center (a quick 4 min drive), and that it was tapas style. We got the garlic parm fingerlings and the margherita flatbread. I'm visiting the area and stumbled upon this place, which was close to my hotel and had decent Yelp reviews. When I arrived it was empty (but it was a Tuesday early evening) so since I was solo I decided to sit at the bar. I was greeted upon entry by Roman who was very welcoming and kind. After I was seated, I realized the food is prepared right at the bar, which I love (I like seeing my food prepared). There were two gentlemen behind the bar, both appeared to be chefs, but Roman took my order, neither of the two men even acknowledged my presence. I almost immediately felt an uncomfortable vibe, but because of Roman, I decided to stick it out. I ordered the petit fillet, fingerling potatoes, and a glass of wine...again both men were right there, heard my order, and they started preparing my food while I watched. One chef plated my fingerlings first, when done he just sat them in front of me, no "enjoy" or anything...it was weird given how close we were to one another. I start eating them and they were delicious, I'll admit that, so I ask the chef what the side sauce was...he looked up, with a very annoyed tone and said "spicy chipotle!" I responded that it was very good, hoping to lighten the mood, no response. A few minutes later the other chef plates my steak and sits it in front of me, I say "Thank you" no response. Don't get me wrong, the food I had was absolutely delicious, they've got good food for sure, but a little hospitality, given proximity to customers, I believe is a fair expectation. Im an introvert so my expectations for engagement are super low. An older woman came in shortly after I started eating and I noticed one chef engaging her a little and with a much more friendly demeanor. My 3 star rating is only because the food was good (well seasoned and prepared), and Roman was the bright spot in the whole place (he deserves 5 stars)...without him, I'd give this place 1-2 stars at best. If the chefs don't want to be cordial to ALL the patrons, maybe the grill should be someplace other than behind the bar. At the very least I recommend sitting at a table so they don't have to be annoyed by you. read more

Came in based on the Yelp rating and reviews. Scallops, salmon, salad, and Brussels were very good, but the meatballs were the best. Unfortunately, when you dine with teenage boys, you don't have a chance to have more than one serving. I'd definitely order the scallops and meatballs, if I revisit. The flatbread was okay - not my favorite. I didn't eat the spicy shrimp, but others ate all of it. Service was very fast. We were seated immediately and our order arrived quickly. We were able to enjoy all ordered items at the same time. We dined on a Tuesday evening. Kind of slow. A few diners on the patio and several at the bar. Had a $2 of a glass of wine instant Yelp coupon upon checking in. Waitress honored it, but shared that they don't usually work with Yelp. Odd! We had the crispy brussel sprouts with bacon, eggplant fries with romesco sauce and lemon yogurt and finished with the spicy shrimp gambas. Pleasant dinner and tapas experience. The outside patio is on a bit of a slant so it's awkward to sit in some spots but with the nice weather it was good. Menu is tasty but a tad bit overpriced. It's like a millennial burger joint owner made a tapas restaurant. Cool thing on their menu is the "buy the kitchen a 6 pack" option for 15 dollars. Charcuterie boards for 22 dollars each is a little humorous but if you don't mind spending your money you can get a small bite or two for around 100 with drinks for 2 people. Their wine is amazing and their servers are very attentive and polite. Would recommend for an evening supper or something for those with an eclectic taste. read more

I have been dining at Gervais and Vine for years . I no longer live in Columbia but I always try to make a point to dine here when I'm in the area . Through the years and now different ownership, the restaurant has proven itself to provide consistent great service , creative dishes and quality food . It is a tapas restaurant , which is meant for sharing but you can certainly make a meal for yourself but just expect to pay a bit of a premium price as each item, including items traditionally considered as a side is a la carte. My recommendations are the petit filet mignon : it's topped with feta cheese and a balsamic reduction which lends to a very robust flavor profile. Also , try the the spicy shrimp gambas. It's is not spicy but the Roma tomatoes, bacon , sherry and garlic paired with this dish make it a must try! On this most recent visit I tried the Brussel sprouts . I did not care for them as I prefer my Brussels more crispy . These are boiled then sautéed. If you are a Brussels fan they may be worth trying as they are topped with bacon , feta and drizzled with balsamic. PARKING: there is a complimentary parking lot directly behind the restaurant. I came here on a girls night with my friends and we were very happy with our orders. The ambiance was perfect and we loved having a corner booth with pillows by the door. The scallops were served with three sauces. One was a creamy dill sauce, another was a savory balsamic sauce and the other was chive oil with drops of cholula hot sauce. Out of the three, all of us loved the chive oil with hot sauce the most! It was divine and even complimented the Brussels. The service we received was great! Very fine dining with a nice ambiance in downtown Columbia. We love the spicy shrimp gambas and seared scallops dishes but all the food options are usually a hit. The prices have gone up significantly throughout the years (see recent menu pictures) which is a BIG reason we don't go as often. The plates are meant for sharing but are too small for the price and the portion size. Still recommend but more for special occasions due to high price range. read more

This is a little secret gem in columbia. There's a large selection of wines by the bottle or glass. I ordered the Brussel sprouts which I eat often since many places started making them as a vegetarian or vegan alternative and I can say I've had better. My friends ordered the salmon and petite filet mignon of which they devoured every morsel. The aroma was intoxicating to say the least. Someone in our party ordered the cheesecake and they shared amongst the three of them. I ate it vicariously through them as I did the filet i will certainly be back soon. read more

I really enjoyed a the outing I had with my wife and Mother-in-Love here! We shared a bunch of Tapas including the cheese plate that had some very tasty cheeses along with a few other things, the blue crab dip (I highly recommend!), Margherita flatbread (good but nothing to rave about), grilled shrimp (very delicious!!), and Garlic Parmesan Fingerlings (Get these!! Get two plates if you're sharing because I was sad when they disappeared!). I also had the Riesling which was very good, highly recommend if you love Rieslings like I do! They do not social distance what so ever... (I went back in February) I was sitting so close to the next table that only a purse separated us which made me very uncomfortable during COVID especially when they started to get busy but luckily I was almost done eating by the time that happened. It was a very hot day, and we had to sit outside with our dog. It was under their covered roof, and would normally not be an issues. 99 degrees outside with 80% humidity can zap you. The staff was super friendly and accommodating for our dog, bringing ice and a bowl. We had stuffed grape leaves and a salmon crusted with delicious herbs. The grape leaves had a good mint and savory rice taste. The salmon was juicy, yet criap, and had a great flavor to it. read more

Dinner at Gervais and Vine was another success. It was told cold and rainy to eat outside this time but the inside is very inviting and enjoyable. Last time the weather was warm and we sat outside and enjoyed the early evening. But this time we dined inside. It's not large inside by the bar but it's nice to eat and share dishes. We had a variety. Flatbread, wedge salad, scallops, filet and brussel sprouts. They have a full bar and flights of wine or by the glass. They serve a nice variety of IPA beers as well including local brews. The food was again delicious and the plates arrive as the food is ready which is nice. We had the perfect amount of food and the staff is friendly. Never intrusive but always around if you need something. It's a great place to dine. read more
