Been thinking of this place a few times, but have passed because I thought it was a seat yourself and wait in line at different counters for your food.......not at all! The service is above par, from checking in to the service at the table, very attentive and quick! The only reason I didn't go 5 stars is because the length of the menu, I was thinking more.....but honestly the choices they had will make me come back! I got the waygu burger and it was cooked PERFECTLY, seasoned amazing, the truffle fries were crispy and flavorful, the homemade ranch was some of the best I had, and I honestly loved their smoked ketchup! I chose Market on Main for our graduation lunch and was a bit surprised by their strict cancellation policy -- $15 per person for cancellations made within 24 hours or for no-shows. The food was pretty good overall, but my chicken salad sandwich was extremely disappointing. The croissant was very dry, and the shredded chicken combined with the consistency of the dressing was not at all what I expected. After only a couple bites, I left the entire sandwich untouched. What was even more disappointing was that when our waitress brought the bill, she clearly noticed I hadn't eaten the sandwich and chose not to ask about it. At this price point for lunch, I would have expected the situation to be handled a little differently. We sat in the covered outdoor area, which was nice, but there's also an uncovered outdoor section with older picnic tables that don't really match the vibe of a more upscale lunch spot. If you plan to sit outside, I'd recommend making your seating preference clear when booking. read more

The ambiance was very nice, but the lights kept flickering, otherwise it's a nice, enjoyable environment. The truffle fries were my favorite! Although they are extremely shoestring-cut fries, they were really good. I ordered a ranch to accompany the fries, and the ranch was delicious. I ordered the margarita as well as the sangria; both of those cocktails were very sweet, and although they lacked the taste of alcohol, they were good. The crab rangoon dip was okay. I can't put my finger on it, but it was missing something that would have taken it to the next level, and it would have been really good. It was almost there, though, and the wonton chips were great as well. I was not a fan of the wings. They did not have flavor and seemed a bit off in taste and texture. My family was visiting my sister this weekend in Columbia and she took us here for dinner. Food was incredible, the flavors were great. We started with the crab Rangoon dip (not pictured) and it had a nice sweet Thai chili sauce with crispy wontons. For meals we got the MOM burger, truffle fries, Caesar salad, and steakhouse wedge salad. Everyone loved their meals. We were in the sunroom and even though it was raining the area was very cozy. Last week was my second time at Market On Main. The first time, we stopped in after exploring the Soda City Market. It was raining so were seated in the sunroom, which had plenty of natural light and fun neon signage that read "Famously Hot". I ordered the M.O.M Burger, which was really good! The burger itself was well prepared and very filling. I also loved the truffle fries it came with! I'm a big fan of skinny fries and the truffle flavor/seasoning was tasty. The second time, my boyfriend and I visited for dinner. We were seated on the patio, which had a lively ambiance. They had a projector screen for the football game and were setting up for some live music. For drinks, I got a Mojito mocktail, which was tasty and refreshing. I wasn't super hungry, so I ended up just getting the Mushroom & Zucchini Special, which was an appetizer. It was simple but tasty, and I loved the goat cheese on top. My boyfriend chose Lemongrass Grilled Chicken. This dish had a bit of spice to it and was delicious in a healthy way. Service was a bit lukewarm, but fast. We had a great dinner at Market on Main. They were busy with the football game, but the service was still great. We were able to sit inside for a quieter spot. I had the blue raspberry drink special, which was super cute and came with a rubber duck. We started with the pimento cheese, which was very tasty. I ordered the lobster roll and fries. I loved both. The lobster roll had a ton of meat, and the fries were crispy and full of flavor. I had a second frozen creamsicle drink, but it was just ok. The bread pudding was also really good. Overall the food was ok, the wagyu burger I sent back due it coming out rare and the MOM burgers the ladies had were subpar. The drinks were weak yet over priced. Market on Main was a really cool bar experience! I walked in about 30 minutes before they closed, and really only patronized the bar area. Having said that, it was still a great time. The inside bar area was nice and clean, and the bartender was very friendly as well. My favorite aspect of the restaurant was probably the outdoor bar, which allows you to enjoy the outdoors while having a drink. They also seemed to have a nice outdoor lawn setup, which looks like the perfect place to watch a major sporting event, or perhaps several sporting events at one time. All-in-all, Market on Main was really cool, and I'll assuredly be back to experience more of the restaurant in the future! read more

This restaurant was super cute and perfect for a girls' night out. Our server was missing the entire time, wasn't very helpful, and never checked on our table. We ordered the girl dinner secret menu special, but our server didn't inform us of pricing or anything. While the girl dinner tasted great, it was overpriced. For a salad and truffle fries, I shouldn't be paying +$30. I can happily order truffle fries and a salad separately for cheaper. I understand I am paying for the experience of an oversized martini glass, but I would've appreciated being informed of pricing. It's very unfortunate to have to leave a review like this, But the manger on duty last night 2/2/25 ( TALON ) was rude / unprofessional to say the least. The night started off on a sour note when I was brought out a drink that was off in flavor and the weirdest aftertaste. When I asked if it could be replaced I was told no ( But if I wanted something els I'd still have to pay for both drinks ) That came from the manger TALON, My poor waiter was so uncomfortable and embarrassed about the whole situation. I felt bad for him. I didn't understand why the manger couldn't come talk to me himself. ( I didn't mind paying for a different drink at all just the way the situation was dealt with ) We had a party of 6 and 2 of use had to change or orders because they didn't have the ingredients to make what they had on the menu. It was 6:30pm so I don't understand how they ran out of ingredients. If they did why didn't they communicate that to there waiters so he could have told use when placing or order. To make matters worst there was a long blond hair in my brothers food. Later on my dad found another hair in he's food. Not once did the manger come out to apologize about the hairs in the food or anything. Before you say or think that it could have been one of ours hairs, we all have dark brown or black hair. They did have 2 cooks with blond hair and long blonde beards with no nets on their beards. Both hairs were blond in our food. It's a shame that our experience was horrible with the food and manger. We came with the family and were immediately seated, which was great. However, it was clear the restaurant was short-staffed. We eventually had to ask for our waitress so we could place our order and get a refill on water. She was so busy that another waitress kindly stepped in to assist us. The food arrived surprisingly quickly once the order was placed. The truffle fries were a bit over the top with oil but still yummy. The bacon was tough and extremely salty. Unfortunately, the brunch burger was a letdown, as it was filled with gristle and lacked seasoning. Additionally, we had requested scrambled eggs on the burger, but when it was brought out with eggs that weren't scrambled, we asked for a side of scrambled eggs instead. This led to an awkward situation where someone from the staff informed us that we would need to pay for additional eggs. We had to explain that we weren't trying to get extra eggs, but rather just wanted the order corrected. We even offered to return the incorrectly prepared eggs. It seemed like a misunderstanding, but it felt as though the staff member thought we were trying to take advantage, which was disappointing. While the staff was generally friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant, these issues combined with inconsistencies in the food left us feeling that the experience was lacking overall. Since this is a spot I have enjoyed in the past and the bartender is amazing, I will keep it on the list and eventually try again. read more

We are typically big fans of MOM and go often for the burger Tuesday deal. The burger was delicious as always, but we were disappointed in the overall experience this time. We were seated quickly and chose a table in the main dining room. After being seated, it took a while for a server to greet us or take a drink order. We both ordered a water to start and then began the waiting game again. After our orders were put in, we basically became nonexistent to our server. Someone else brought our food and at least 10-15 minutes passed before he came to ask if we needed anything. We never saw him again for the remainder of our meal. We had to flag down another server just to ask for the check and only saw ours again when he picked up our card. On Tuesday nights MoM hosts trivia, which is usually all in good fun and we enjoy it. This particular night, the topic was past presidents. Trivia is played via Kahoot and shared on the tv screens throughout the restaurant. I was both disgusted and disappointed by some of the vulgar team names that were allowed. There was a big waiting period between teams picking names and the game starting, so plenty of time to address it. I won't share the photo of the names, but they were tasteless, and misogynistic. For this to be a more "high end" establishment, hardworking adults coming to enjoy a meal shouldn't have to deal with being off put by silly college students. read more

We spent a day in Columbia and this was our second stop. We chose this place because I had read about the live music. We initially wanted to sit inside because it was hot but we realized we couldn't hear the music. Once we got outside, the vibe was so much better. The game was being played on the big screen. The DJ played music during the commercials. The USC Female Bball Team (National Champions) visited so the crowd was especially happy. We ordered the appetizer truffle fries. I had read they were a vegan option but they were heavily sprinkled with cheese. Instead of sending them back (y'all were busy and we had already changed locations), he ate the top. Columbia is a bit hit or miss in terms of the sights so on our way to Charleston and Hilton Head, we made a stop and needed food. The only thing that stuck out to me was Market on Main. I will say upon entry, I was not expecting what I experienced regarding this place but since objectivity is the name of the game, I'll be objective. The ambiance of this place is in fact very grocery market industrial. It's very well lit despite it's dark cozy interior which makes it a fantastic lunch spot as it looks to be one of the more popular business lunch work lunch spots in Columbia and since Columbia is home to the University of South Carolina, this place makes sense. The service was basic. Our server did everything he was supposed to do. He was quick, courteous, professional, friendly, and prompt and knew the menu which is a plus all things considered he looked to be a Junior in college so props to the Market On Main team for proper training of their servers. Now for the food. The food we had was the pastrami with a side pasta salad and the fish tacos. The pastrami meat itself was flavorful, meaty, savory, and had a bite to it that pastrami is supposed to have which I enjoyed when I sampled the sandwich. The pasta salad was also very flavorful. I will say, if there was a way to add a bit of moisture to the salad, it would've taken it up a notch since it was dry and the herbs that covered the pasta was overpowering. Not a fan of the sauerkraut but that seems to be a standard for pastrami sandwiches so I can't fault them for that. The fish tacos were... underwhelming. The cod was fried beautifully but there was a lack of seasoning to the batter. The crema sauce was a bit too much and not enough zing to it to make it chipotle enough for me. And the cabbage didn't have the flavor it needed to cut through the cloi of the fish which in all honesty, made my palette tired and I just needed to finish the entree. All in all, the place is decent enough for a college town with the downtown business flair but it's almost like they have an identity crisis in trying to do everything all at once and be everything all at once which really suits nobody in the end. Tightening up a few things, keeping your servers well trained (which you do), and making flavors pop will make this place shine considering it is already popular among the locals. read more

We had a party of 10 and one of the white male employees with a baseball jersey version of the restaurant shirt on assumed without cause that a member of our party was smoking though multiple people around confirmed they also did not see him smoking inside. The assumption was made because our party member was a Black man and I heard the employee say he thought he was a homeless guy. This was beyond unprofessional and we have shared with our networks who regularly come to the statehouse for work what our experience was.
