No matter what their TV ad says, I should have done my research, and for that mistake I paid the price! To make a long story short I felt after the service call I felt used, abused, confused and $500 in the hole with not a penny of the money spent towards getting me to the cool zone on a hot summer day. Instead the HVAC technician performed some kind of check and charged me just under $500 to tell me something I already knew before they even started that my system had a leak. I informed a representative in the service call that my HVAC system was cooling but not to the set temperature and that it needed to be recharged and I had it recharged previously (approximately 5 years ago). The slow leak in my HVAC system could have been something as simple as a loose coupling or fitting but the technician focused on my old out dated HVAC system that was better off being replaced due to it was old and the high cost of repairs and or refrigeration recharge that would cost me thousands of dollars. I know things would be just fine with a refrigeration recharge but they left me feeling I had no other choice but to purchase a new HVAC system so they can fill their own pockets. They gave me a quote but no receipt for services performed and no hard copy or email estimate for a new system install in over a week since they departed. These guys were amazing! I have been trying to get my Heating fixed for the last 3 months but I kept getting excuses from other hvac folks. One suggested I spend 15K for a new unit!! Do not use this company for a boiler replacement. It has been about 9 weeks since I first applied. Most of these weeks there was nothing being done at all. The project manager, Josh mostly does not take my calls or does not call me back when I leave a message. Each time a tech was sent out to work on a part of the job, there was no communication between that tech and the company. Weeks went by and another tech was sent only because l called, and another part of the job was done, again no communication. The company had no idea what was or was not happening. The inspector did not pass their work and more weeks went by. Then another snag when the propane piping was placed in an unacceptable spot. Still waiting.......... The inspector passed it, the propane company delivered, but still waiting for Josh to get techs here to finish the job. Out of fuel now must go buy gas cans and diesel to put in the 55 gallon drum in my basement. This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a company. read more

I'll never use them again. I paid over $400 for a cleaning and service of my wall mounted a/c and heater in August 2020. In September, the first time I used it after the service, I found that the heat wasn't working. It was never tested in August after the service. The reason it wasn't working was that the technician interfered with my remote in August and reprogrammed it. I was then charged a service call for the same technician to restore my remote to its original setting. Two visits - over $600.... never again! read more

One of the worst companies I've ever had to deal with in my ten years of home ownership and heavy renovations. I got hooked up with them through Lowe's installation services for a furnace swap and oil tank removal. I don't know how many times I had to call them or make complaints over the two month period of time it took them to complete the work, including fixing mistakes. I am currently waiting on covid results for a house hold member and getting this email is not what I would call professional at all nor close to being ok. Ryan at Gervais provided an easy to understand estimate for the installation of a three unit mini system at our 2 1/2 floor townhouse in Holden. The actual installation of this system was done by Bobby over 3 1/2 days. He was efficient organized and knew exactly what he was doing. All units including the outside compressor were installed connected and running efficiently in the agreed time period. All units are quiet and doing an excellent job. We should have had these mini split units installed years ago. Bobby ,Ryan and the entire Gervais staff were easy to work with, knew exactly what was needed and performed all without missing a beat. I hired Gervais to move a pipe for steam heat that ran up to my daughters room and it was in the way when I had a picture window installed in my living room. $1500 later nothing but issues. The next day after it was moved I had a pool of water underneath my new window. They came out the next day and said there was a leak and the issue was fixed. That night when we turned the heat on steam engulfed my daughters room where the pipe they moved was located in. They came out a couple days later and said there was a pin hole in the radiator. It was obviously damaged during the installation, never had issues in the 7 years we lived there. The technician told me he would speak to the office. Two days later we get a quote for $1100 to have it fixed. For two weeks I would call and was told someone would call me back. No call. Called and finally asked to speak with a manager. The manager told me they were not responsible since my pipes had rust and could damage other parts during the installation. The part has light rust if that, Told him it was unacceptable, and he said he would talk to his technician and get back to me the next morning. It is now 4 days later never received a call. Court is the next option at this point. I would strongly advise not to use this company. It seems to me their common practice is to damage parts and then blame the issue on "rust" and then charge a ridiculous amount of money to fix the problem they caused. If you have issues good luck with trying to speak with someone who can help. read more

Came last year to fix our 3 year old York central AC unit, which we do NOT run more than a couple of weeks a year at best. Told us that they recommend to replace more parts than could be the problem so that they could be sure the issue would be remedied, which we agreed to. Cost us $1000. Used it twice after they left. Tried to use it this year and no cold air again. Called them back thinking that they would at least provide a discount since we only used it twice since they fixed it. They came, said they were unsure of what the issue was this time. While they were working on it and trying to figure out what the problem was, the condenser quit working too! Said we should just buy a new AC unit and charged us $530.00 for the visit!! It was still under warranty so we asked that they send a quote for the warranty work. one star is being nice be very cautious of some of the employees that try to steal potential customers and offer side work to be done on the wknds for a cheaper price case in point the co. was throwing out a used oil tank their svc MGR. Marc gave to a potential customer that already had a quote for replacement with the co. had a certified tech go with him to do the job after hours on the wknd using the co.'s equipment. the certified tech stood on the side and had someone to do the work that was not certified a month later had no heat called a legit co. they came on site come to find out everything they did was illegal an not up to code so ended up costing another $900 for the correct work to be done this might be a good company if you stick with the quotes given but be cautious cause the employees like to steal the work for side jobs and unsatisfactory work is performed read more

Very Unsatisfied. I had an emergency situation for one of my tenants and called them first thing in the morning. The lady told me that the plumber would call me to tell me when he will arrive. I waited 3 hours and told them I did not receive a call. She told me that they contacted him again. I then waited another 3 hours and still no call about an estimated time. I eventually was able to make a temporary fix myself till my normal plumber can do the job. Will never waste my time with this company again. We had a leaking pipe from our Gas furnace ( It was leaking water). We called Gervais on a Friday Evening. I explained the situation, My mom being Elderly, we were concerned, for safety reasons. The woman, who answered, ( Answer service, was very polite). She took our information, and forwarded it to on call man. He called us back quickly. He was finishing on another job. Bobby, service person, explained he would have to text his boss, to see if it was ok to come out past the 20 mile mark, due to after hours His boss said yes.. Bobby arrived and immediately assessed the situation. He explained in detail, what needed to be done, and went to work. Bobby is very professional, nice. He did an EXCELLENT JOB. I am shocked at how unprofessional the business is. I had our boiler serviced, which I called and paid for over the phone and found out this company then saved my card information to charge when they feel like it. I spoke to the woman at the front desk because the technician said I have a leak in a pipe that could cause the issue I'm having with the boiler, which the line did not even connect with that boiler as another company also confirmed. I called back to see if someone could call me and the woman said yes I'll have him call you in the meantime I'll set up a time in his schedule to meet your husband there again to review just in case he doesn't have time to call. She does this, the guy meets my husband and says he doesn't know why the woman wrote the pipe was leaking in the slip as the reason and explains we need an auto feed, which was the correct information. The woman then charges my card $165 (not authorized or informed us there was a charge to meeting my husband for 20 minutes). What a scam!! She scammed me. Now I won't give them the business to change to an auto feed. STAY AWAY!! read more

Worst company I have ever experienced with, work was so bad that I had to hire an engineer to find out what the NEW heating system did not work, based upon that I had to contract the local gas and plumbing inspector that told me it had not been inspected; they installed a gas furnace, fired it up without an inspection. Never got a rough plumbing inspection either. I had to hire a new heating contractor and another plumber. All in all It cost me more than the original contract to fix, correct and redo their work. Besides placing me and my home at risk of a gas explosion, having not heat from sept to mid December, and then would not heat my house over 65 degrees running 24/7. I had to hire an HVAC engineer and have a full report of the problems he found, then, I had to pay more than the original contract ($14,000) to others to replace, fix and complete what they failed to deliver. WORST YET! They invoiced me for the FULL AMOUNT ($ 14,000) when it was not even finished, operating THEN filed a lien on my property without any notice or filing a civil complaint. So, right now I had to pay the cost for the others and being forced to pay them another $14,000 to release the lien! NO ONE SHOULD EVERY HAVE TO BE IN THIS POSITION. and be forced to pay for something they never got. It was supposed to be a high efficacy heating system with a full one year warranty from Gervais and the 5 year manufacturer's warranty; I got neither. The only thing of any value was the furnace itself that could be reused and some PVC piping for the rough plumbing, which I could have purchased myself and installed myself. Which I could tell you ALL that happened and how they treated me, but I'm sure just this is significant enough to you the consumer to know. read more

Terrible- the first guy came in for service and charged $230. There was a sporadic issue where my heat would stop working. The problem occurred after their service and the second guy comes in turns on n off multiple times everything seems working. Yes! As I said it's sporadic I had to wake up freezing. He said I cannot fix without seeing the problem, I pointed him how I played with the loose connections n he was like I can replace but can't guarantee if tat ll fix. I wanted to take a chance n fix it but then he goes ok I need to get the part which is 40 min one way from here n u have pay for my travel time.!! Hell no .!! U drive with a huge van n can't carry the parts? Well, if tats not a usual one u go get it not as me to pay per minute.. why don't u charge me for ur food, cloths, fuel and wat not.... nonsense.!!! He still charged me another $188 for turning on n off my heater bunch of time.!!! Suckers..!!! I jus want him to get out of my place before I loose it. They came right away. The plumbers were polite, efficient, and professional. They were able to fix everything in a timely manner. I recently wrote a review about Gervais Mechanical in regards to their cost to repair a propane gas line that I had kinked with moving a bird feeder. I thought I was overcharged for the work that had been done and contacted the company to review the charges. After discussing the amount I was told I was UNDERCHARGED!!! I then wrote a review through the Better Business Bureau to which I received a call from Gervais Mechanical regarding the review. I was told that there might have been a mischarge and that they would review the amount on the invoice. I received a call back from them stating that the diagnostic fee for $109.00 should not have been included and that they would refund me the money through a check. I received the check less than a week later for the amount discussed. I appreciated Gervais Mechanical reaching out to me and refunding part of the money that was charged and felt they dealt with me in a fair and professional manner! read more

Bottom line, can't be trusted. Their quote was higher that others & when I went with another company they absorbed a credit they owed me into misc supplies. They also transposed an electronic signature onto a new bill to absorb the credit. I am not pursuing, it was a small amount but the basic principles of a good company were violated. He said he would try and help by patching the leaks in order to give more time before buying a new one. He couldn't patch it and billed me for $615. Worst company to deal with. I was getting work done on my basement so I had a survey done by Jeff Johnson and was told he would have a quote back within a day or two. After chasing him down I finally got a price around 5 days later. I was told it would be 2100 and that's for 2 guys which will have it done in 1 day. First day only one guy showed up and didn't have the materials for the job. After taking 2 plus hours to get supplies he informed me he can't do a lot of the stuff I was told was going to get done. Then I was informed that he couldn't do it all today. Day 2 they send techs at my house after 2 pm even though I had no heat and called twice the on the initial day to find out what was happening. The job is t even 1/4 of the way done and the owner comes and demands 1600 of the money even though there's been like no work done. Asking why he said he's been in and out of court chasing down money from ppl. Now the techs say it can be done in 5 more hours the next day. Day 3 the techs are still not half way done and saying we have to pay even more money. After talking with the owner Steve he claims that they won't run half of the work because his guy quoted it wrong and we're going to pay more than the quoted price for 1/2 the work which still isn't done. They are also now trying to cut corners saying they won't replace things talked about because they don't need to. However they still want me to pay more than the quote. Worst company ever. We have used Gervais Plumbing and Heating for about three and a half years now. Twice we've had emergencies and they willingly worked us into their schedule. Their technicians are always polite, very knowledgeable. They have always made certain that their repairs are done thoroughly and completely before they leave. A few days ago we had a water pipe break and they came out and fixed it beautifully, as usual. This company is on my "First to Call" list whenever there is a plumbing emergency. Their prices are about what you'd expect from any plumbing company but they stand behind their work and you'll always have a technician arrive who is trustworthy, honest, easy to talk with and respectful. Before I found Gervais I used a local plumbing company (once) . I was treated like I was a simple-minded idiot for asking questions about what they were doing. When the local company's techs finished and left, I went online and found Gervais Plumbing and Heating. I had Gervais come out to do some additional work in our home and then asked them to also double-check what the other company had previously done. (To the other company's credit, their techs had done the job correctly. It was their attitudes towards myself which I hadn't liked). We have continued using Gervais since then and have NEVER had a reason to even want to find a different company. In fact, we now have them scheduled to return to work on the plumbing under our kitchen sink. As long as a renovation is something that this company can do, then we will call them to come do it. I called to schedule work... what I needed, I'm sure is pretty routine, toilet flange replacements. So I asked for a ballpark price on the phone. The receptionist said she'd have someone call me with the price. No one called with an estimate. On the day of service at 8am, the receptionist calls and cancels. She asks to reschedule, and so I say sure. I ask again for a rough estimate over the phone, she promises that if no one can call me, she will get the information and let me know.... I hear nothing. So second scheduled service day, the guy arrives, I tell him I wanted an estimate, which he agrees to, and spends 10 minutes looking at the issue, writes up $700 estimate to install 2 "repair kits". I didn't want repair kits... 250$ of that estimate is to pull and put back the toilets... I tell him that's way too rich for me, especially for repair kits and not flange replacements. So, I say thanks but no thanks.... He then tells me there is a 135$ fee for stopping out, which was news to me, so I told him "no one told me that, and I asked twice for an estimate over the phone". And that just ticked me off, and I ask him to just leave. He goes out to his truck, and forgets his tablet and I bring it out to him. He sits out there for 10 minutes on the phone. He gets out and I hear him talking on the phone telling someone that they have to call me and let me know something... I can only guess he's after the 135 bucks, so as he approaches. I tell him to please leave the premises. He then says "I was trying to get you a better rate"... yea, right... read more
