RUN RUN AWAY!!!!! This has to be the worst credit union I have ever dealt with. Scoring Crack is easier to do than having issues resolved with them. They have stolen money from our family, we are a single income family and times are tough and they have ZERO sympathyfor that. Instead of trying to solve the issue and get to the bottom they blamed me for an internal electrical problem on their end. I can find better customer service in a sewer drain. The reps are rude and the higher ups and even worse. Their processing dates day 2-3 days, instead more like a whole week. We have late on several car loan payments because they lie about when the money is in, and they never show you. We can't even try to refinance with another bank because our loan is still 6 months old. If you get placed with this union, don't go with it! read more

I sent in a check for deposit in early December with a note asking for a receipt. It did not come. I had to discuss this on phone with a supervisor. She put not ein my file to send receipts each time. Now Its Feb- no receipt came for another deposit.. I had to call again. They didn't send one so it will come sometime. This time the supervisor is going to be sure there is a note in my account! They also want to push me to driving 15 miles away in Seattle area to deposit in person. Their website is terrible. Gesa came to Lewis county and we thought about transferring to them from Twinstar (Peak). I am glad we didn't. We bought a new car and dealer financing went with Gesa. Setting up online bill pay sucks, contacting customer service is a joke, making payments sucks, Everything about it is terrible compared to other banks websites. They will transfer money without authorization, charge insufficient fund fee's even though there is money in account and no money even left account. I've been with them for years but I'm closing my accounts. They've locked all their customers out on the 1st & 2nd of the month to "perform and update". No ATM, debit transactions, online banking, wire transfers, in branch customer support, nothing. They gave us no notice yet again, just like earlier this year when they shut off and replaced everyone's debit cards. This is just the straw that broke the camels back here. 11/01/2025: The customer service representatives are very disrespectful. I honestly would have taken the rise in interest rates getting a loan through my main credit union over these guys had I know how slow and rude they would be. Now I know. Update 11/17/25 I originally reviewed these guys with one star after having talked to multiple rude CSR's. Then today after talking to a young man named Micheal he was able to clear up the confusion and misinformation issues I was having. And get me on the right track. Some representatives are just better with customers and more knowledgeable in the field, which is the difference. First the construction loan process and agent was great to work with. However when it came time to transition to the standard loan, the GESA loan department messed up my paperwork telling me one thing then demanding an earlier payment than what was communicated. In dealing with their operations team to correct their error, they took no accountability for the mistake which resulted in money out of my pocket. I will never recommend them to anyone again. There are too many other lenders to chose from instead of going with GESA who clearly does not accountability for their own mistakes. read more

Would give a zero rating if I could. I personally went to the branch a month ago to get my credit card changed into my married name. After about a 30-minute wait and providing my documents, I was handed a card they made for me on site, said it was activated and good to go. I go to use it today, a month later, and it is DECLINED. I call customer service (I am 10th in the queue by the way) and they tell me after much research that they "stopped using that credit card provider" last week and that I would have to go back to the branch to get a new card with the provider they now DO use as they cannot activate the one I have any longer. If you set up a living trust for your family, do not plan for your trustee(s) or executor of your estate to have access to any account with Gesa after you pass unless you have added that person(s) as a signer on the accounts. The best advice our estate lawyer could give us is that "credit unions can be a little tricky". It was exceptionally inconvenient and time consuming to find workarounds to access my father's accounts after he passed even though he thought he had checked all the boxes to make the management of his estate super simple. Gesa did not work to make things any easier and gave us minimal information and cooperation suggesting only that we could close the accounts and take the money elsewhere, which we did do, but it was a lengthier process than we ever would have imagined. read more

Gesa is an amazing credit union to bank with! The lender team is fantastic, their staff is always so nice. They have free accounts and low rates. They credit back atm fees and don't charge you to bring your change in. I was a member of the School Employes Credit Union until they moved it to Gesa. Gesa is the worst financial institution I have dealt with. I have switched everything to BECU, except my credit card and I will do that soon. Getting hold of customer service if you can find it, is awful. They love to tack on fees which you then spend several calls getting fixed, to find out days later it is not. When you get hold of customer service, they are very bice, but that does not mean your problem gets fixed. School employes Credit Union, you could make one call and the problem would be taken care of. Applied for a car refinance online. After 5 business days heard nothing from them. We have been members for 18 years. Called in to get results and we were told they called us and emailed us. I find it peculiar that both modes of communication do not show this happening on our end. Verified information was correct and nothing. Asked for a manager to call since the person had no helpful means of supporting membership questions and had no clue to what the process was for a loan. It's been yet another 5 days and a manager has not called. Seriously considering moving our whole family an investments to a different financial institution. What is lacking here? Responsibility, communication, follow up, respect, cross selling to build credit for teens, knowledge of products at their own financial institutions, and care for the members needs. Can't ahold of anyone. All they have is an 800 number that puts you on hold with no hold music. It's like you're calling the HAL9000 with no hope in site. There are no options on their website to do a loan payoff so you have to call them and their call in system is terrible. They have no way to contact them. I will likely go down to their physical location out of desperation. DO NOT BANK HERE! They are AWFUL! I first started banking with Inspirus Credit Union when it was School Employees Credit Union of Washington nearly 20 years ago. I was a loyal customer until..... they switched to GESA. This transition has been an absolute DISASTER. The customer service is awful. When you try call you get sent to a call center where they put you on hold for HOURS! The bill pay setup is horrific! It took my mortgage company a week to receive a check.....resulting in a late mortgage payment. NO THANK YOU! I'm taking my money to a different credit union that cares about member relations! Their customer service people don't have the power to take care of any account issues, and apparently their CRM sucks so much they don't have visibility into what people who are following up on stuff is doing. GESA does not answer the phone (I've been on hold for 30 minutes + many times, with NO indication that I'm in queue or wait times), nor do they respond to secure messages sent online (I've sent a half dozen over 10 days asking for a call back)- no reply. As a former School Employees Credit Union, then Inspirus, then Gesa member, I can honestly say this is an unprofessional institution and a risky place to put your money. The merger of Inspirus into Gesa has been an absolute nightmare. Transactions posting weeks late, missing cards that showed up to an address we hadn't lived at in TEN YEARS, at one point all our transactions were showing up as personal checks. At one point our checking account "disappeared". I called about it and they said "uh, you have a checking account? All I see is savings." Great feeling when your rent is due. With all this chaos, it'd be a great time to have all those awesome Inspirus folks who used to help me when I'd call for support. Too bad they fired them all. Now they're hiring 50 people, and every call for some random issue caused by this sloppy merger takes an HOUR. SECUWA and Inspirus would NEVER have pulled this kind of abusive garbage. Run far away from this union. If not for having a great low interest rate that does not exist anymore I would refinance my vehicle. The incompentance and lack of proffesionalism here is mind blowing. Do yourself a favor and go with any other credit union even if they can save you a few bucks. It isn't worth the headaches.
