If you wanted to know what's going on in the Ozarks for many years it was the source to turn to especially if you wanted your media in print format. Print offers some advantages that other forms of electronic media can't do. That being said the quality of the paper, it's depth and breadth of their coverage has diminished in recent years. Electronic media is taking it's toll and the paper seems to be in a slight downward spiral in my opinion. The paper has announced their intent to put up a paywall for content starting May 1st, 2012. I sent the editors a complaint as the rates they want to charge for Ozarks content in a smaller media market are higher than what I would pay to subscribe to the KC Star or even the Los Angeles Times. If they come back to reality on pricing I might give their paywall a look. But until that time after over 2 decades of readership I have removed the News Leader from my news sources for keeping track of the Ozarks. There is better content available elsewhere at fair prices. 2 stars.

I called to cancel both print and digital media and they said they cancelled everything and I was paid up though the 27th and that was fine. Next week I got a $19.99 charge on my credit card from Gannett. I called to complain and wanted a refund but they said this was not possible because the billing already started on the 27th of the previous month. Total BS and a scam! I will never subscribe to anything published by Gannett again.

I was also told previously if I called before 9 they would bring a paper. Today they said that they could not do that. They have credited me for the missing papers - I would prefer to get my paper delivered which is an essential part of their business. I recd last Friday's paper so they know where we live. Each time I speak with them they have told me the district manager will be informed. So far that has not helped.
