I had lost a ton of muscle, added a bunch of fat, and my posture had suffered. Initially I planned to train with Madison for 6 weeks to get myself back on track, but it's now 5 months later and I still see her weekly. I can not believe the impact that slow motion strength training has had on my body. I have gotten so much of my strength back and even developed muscles that have been neglected all of my life, which has enabled me to add some cardio and vinyasa yoga. My posture has gotten significantly better despite the fact that I'm still nursing and work at a computer most of the time, thanks to the series of exercises that Madison designs for me. I've lost almost 20 pounds, and definitely converted a bunch of fat to muscle. My butt and thighs are so much tighter than they used to be (sorry if that's TMI!) All in all, it's an incredible workout in that the results are very noticeable and the time commitment is tiny. That said, you DO have to be dedicated. Madison will ask you to push yourself really, really hard. Sometimes in the middle of workouts, all I can think is "Why am I doing this???" But then I remind myself that I just need to give it my all for 30 minutes, which really isn't that much. By the time I finish the workout, I'm absolutely exuberant as I walk out of the gym feeling strong and like I'm standing taller and more confidently. Usually I'm really sore for a day or two and then I start getting really excited for my next session....it's addictive to feel as good as it makes you feel :)

You are allowed in 30 min prior to appointment time and have 90 min from your appointment time. The towels were initially behind the desk but now are out on the floor and in the locker rooms. You have to get your temperature checked before you enter. The locker rooms have plenty of lockers but I didn't notice any social distancing signs or blocked lockers like other clubs. The steam room isn't open yet but there are showers available. You are encouraged to wipe down the equipment before and after you use it. The space in the gym is pretty large especially with limitations. They are blocking other equipment, and the only thing that bothered me is people doing cardio with no masks, in every other equinox I've been in you have to wear a mask at all times except when taking a sip of water. I'll still be coming here, likely doing my cardio outside instead.

I want to start off saying that I generally really like Equinox. I have been a member here on and…read moreoff, probably going back to 2010, but decided to part ways with it for good recently. For why that is I will get into further in the review but I want to point out some positives first. The gym is very clean, and organized, the staff are wonderful and friendly, and the people that go here, mostly follow gym etiquette and are fine. So what's the problem? Well for starters the gym has not really changed much going back 15 years. Yea, they updated the gym flooring recently, but the equipment is still the same. There used to be coolers of cucumber or lemon water that you could use that no longer exists. The gym recently had a $15 price increase a couple of months ago, and I know what you're thinking. A rich guy like you making a big deal over $15? No, but when I pay close to $300 a month I want to be able to exercise when I go to a gym, and therein lies the problem. This place is packed, SO PACKED that I don't care how much I'm paying a month for a membership I want to be able to exercise. I generally go around 9-10am on weekdays but it's a zoo. I just love going to a gym and having to wait forever for equipment, thus making a normal workout last 30-60 minutes longer due to waiting. Do yourself a favor and don't even bother going on Saturday mornings around that time, or on a holiday weekday where everyone has the day off. I've walked in on days like that and you can't even see the gym equipment with all the people floating around. There have been multiple times after walking into that I just turned around and walked out. How can anyone exercise in that kind of environment? At that point it becomes more of a social scene, much like Lifetime in Harrison, where people don't actually go to workout, they go to be seen and mingle while their nannies are taking care of the kids, and their chauffer is dropping them off in their Bentleys. Even going in the afternoon at around 3pm is much busier than it has any right to be now and I can't imagine what the rush around 5-6pm would be like. There is a lot of good to be had in this gym if they actually capped their memberships or maybe expanded their gym into the super secret $10k a year private fitness area that absolutely no one uses, but as of right now for the price I can't recommend it if you actually care to work out. As it stands this place is only good for exercising your patience.

Compared to your LA Fitness, NYSC, Planet or Crunch this is miles ahead of the competition. It's like an Equinox Lite vibe, all of the polish - none of the pretentiousness and more amenities! Pricing is higher than your average chain gym (still cheaper than EQX) but it's well worth it if cleanliness, availability at rush hour times, machine quality and amenities are your top priorities. Like any gym it has its busy times but it is still very easy to get your work out in especially compared to other gyms I've been to in the area. Rarely have I had a hard time getting onto a machine or felt it was too crowded. They are always making improvements and adjustments which is great to see! They even have their own medspa and chiropractor! So glad this place exists - only wish is that they had more locations!

The lighting is so horrible and depressing, especially if you work out in the evening. The locker room and bathroom could use an uplift. The eco-friendly paper towels literally scratch your skin and don't dry well at all. The gym towels emit so much lint because they are very poor quality. Don't get me started on the parking. They valet your car - it's pretty much mandatory. Good luck pulling in during prime time and being told the (tiny) lot is full and you have to find your own spot in the surrounding area, which is scarce!! The classes are so basic and have no vibe at all, the instructors are very low energy, instructing off their phones. The classes are never full and some will only have one person signed up. Pretty sad. Wish I never signed up for a yearly contract. Can't wait until it expires. Waste of money.
