Scheduling was so easy (a real person!). And Dr Neil is amazing. I have several oral issues, and had been going from specialist to specialist, all referring me to other specialists as "this" work couldn't be done unless "that" work was done. A frustrating, fruitless circle with no help in sight. Dr Neil patiently listened as I explained my oral issues and circuitous Journey. He has great expertise and understanding of many oral issues. He provided very helpful information, kind and patient guidance, even though teeth alignment couldn't be done now. It needed to be part of a bigger overall plan. Yes! I need that but hadn't been able to find it. He recommended a colleague who specializes in assessing and treating complex cases. Been coming here for years since a young teen, ever since I've gotten braces + care for my permanent retainer. Went in for glue on my permanent retainer since the old glue came off due to crunchy foods. They made sure my teeth felt comfortable after getting the work done. All the staff who works there is very nice & welcoming! The wait isn't as bad as people say it is on here, I probably sat down for ~10 minutes and they took me in. Place is very clean. My first round of orthodonture with Dr. Warshawsky started in 2012. I had very crowded lower teeth that had also tipped forward. The treatment was to remove one of the middle teeth, use clear aligners, and then install a permanent retainer behind the center five lower teeth. I was satisfied with the results, but Dr. Warshawsky did not give me a full arch retainer to wear at night, and over the years the five teeth on the permanent retainer moved forward as a unit until they were once again too far forward. As others have commented in their reviews, Dr. Warshawsky was always running behind schedule. Typical wait time past my appointment time averaged close to an hour. But since I had been happy with the results of my first round of orthodonture, I returned to see Dr. Warshawsky in 2021 to see what could be done about the lower arch. He felt part of the problem was pronounced bone loss at the base of my lower front teeth. He referred me to a periodontist for evaluation, and it was determined a gum graft and bone graft were both needed. I proceeded with the periodontal treatments and started the orthodonture with Dr. Warshawsky. What followed was about 6 months in lingual braces (braces in back of the teeth) which left my teeth in a very poor arrangement. Then clear aligners, more aligners and more aligners. When we reached about the two-year mark and it seemed the remaining issues were not improving, we mutually decided to switch to regular braces. Dr. Warshawsky said the braces would be faster and more accurate that the clear aligners. What followed was about 6 months of PAINFUL and seemingly haphazard adjustments that often caused new misalignments that then had to be corrected. Dr. Warshawsky exerted EXTREME force on my teeth during the wire changes, including on the five fragile front teeth that were still slightly wobbly even after the bone graft. When I expressed dissatisfaction with the alignment of my teeth, Dr. Warshawsky would tell me it was all about the HEALTH of my teeth, how we had saved my teeth. I'm sorry, but it was the gum and bone graft by the periodontist that saved/stabilized my teeth, not Dr. Warshawsky. If anything, I feared the force he was exerting on my teeth was actually putting them at risk. After one particular adjustment, the size of my whole lower arch seemed to be tightened up, resulting not only in too much over-jet in the front, but also along the left side. Now my lower arch actually looked ASKEW from my upper arch. Dr. Warshawsky said he'd try to bring the teeth back out to the side. After one or two additional visits and adjustments there was no visible improvement. I was stunned when he announced that my treatment was almost complete! I objected that my teeth were still too far in on the left side. He responded that that was due to the "shape of my jaw" and said that trying to move the teeth outward would "push the teeth out of the bone." Since my jaw hadn't been "shaped" like that two months prior, I believed he was now just making up fiction to try to convince, or scare me into accepting an unsatisfactory result. I left his office in disgust, quite convinced I would not be returning. As the saying goes, "If your mother says she loves you, check it out." I immediately set up a few appointments with other orthodontists for second opinions. Two orthodontists and my own dentist agreed with me that the shape of the lower arch was not aligned properly with the upper arch, and they also commented that the tooth height needed more work. I began treatment with one of the orthodontists, who was absolutely FANTASTIC! (See my other review for more info.) He removed Dr. Warshawsky's braces and put on a different style of braces. I had assumed the extreme force Dr. Warshawsky exerted on my teeth and the pain it caused was necessary and unavoidable to achieve results. But to surprise, my new orthodontist, who was very concerned about the fragility of my front teeth, treated them very carefully and gently, causing NO pain and only occasional mild discomfort. By contrast, it had felt like Dr. Warshawsky was working in my mouth with a pair of pliers from Home Depot. My new orthodontist saw me promptly at my appointment time, and his adjustments to the braces resulted in a continuous improvement in the alignment of my teeth. His treatment was finished in just 9 months, and my teeth look GREAT - better than I ever thought would be possible! I am absolutely delighted with the results. (see my other review) If you value your time (length of treatment and time spent waiting past your appointment time to be seen), your money (I had to pay a second orthodontist to fix Dr. Warshawsky's work - although it was worth every penny!) and your comfort (Dr. Warshawsky caused a lot of pain during the braces wire changes, while my second orthodontist caused very little discomfort), consider going elsewhere. read more

The time management at this practice is abysmal. I have been coming for treatment here for my child and later for myself since 2018. I don't think I've been seen one single time at my designated appointment time. As a rule, I am kept waiting 30-60 minutes. Now that my grandchild is safely disengaged from this practice and very happy with the new orthodontic group I can comment. I am a retired pediatrician and full time "nanny" to my grandchild. I attended about half of the visits to this office over several years. The tone of a business is set by the owners and when the senior most person is rude, condescending to the patients, parents and staff, so will be many of the other staff and technicians. I would not have expected any parents to bring their child to my practice if we had treated them like they are treated here. As a pediatrician, of course you have to do things that hurt and the kids are scared (shots, blood tests, throat cultures) but you still treat them with empathy and respect. I didn't even care about the long wait times or the game room where not a single game worked. Just be kind. Enough said. read more

Located near Ashland and Addison, this orthodontist office is small but has a few more offices ie Hyde Park, and Orland Park. I started out two years ago with the optimism of straight teeth. Dr. Warshawsky was highly recommended so I paid a premium price with a locked contract. Little did I know the doctor was so popular, busy and rarely saw me. The other dentists and dental assistants are competent however I did have expectations that he would see me the majority of the time. Tip: write in contract that a specific dentist should see you a majority of the time if you want that and the 24 hours must be given for dentist to reschedule through voice mail and text, and that at the time of services, you should be taken care of within 30 minutes not wait more than 15 minutes to complete services. Btw, double check that you are not double charged because that happened to me and they were slow to refund my money. I am sure it was accidental however you must be reviewing the bills often. Btw, during and after treatment, expect more cavities. To cpmpensate, I would do more dental cleanings. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Neil over multiple years as I needed braces and retention for an open bite. Unfortunately, the nature of orthodontics is it's a long term treatment plan and it's really hard to change providers after starting (and paying large sums of money up front). I hope that by sharing my story, others won't suffer the same terrible service as I did at this practice. Over the course of multiple years, I dealt with lengthy wait times and a doctor with the worst bedside manner I've ever seen. I have memories of sitting in the dental chair with tools in my mouth (and my mouth forced to stay open) for up to 10 minutes waiting for Dr. Neil to treat me because he doesn't care about patient well being. There is no empathy. He views you as an object, a money machine for him. When he would work in my mouth, it was rough and frequently caused pain. He doesn't care about patient pain. The worst example of this was after a particularly brutal rubber bands alignment caused significant pain, he refused to prescribe me any pain medications and called me a drug addict for even asking. In early 2020, I needed new permanent retainers to try to prevent my open bite from relapsing. I was told these permanent retainers would be comfortable and easy to floss around. Dr. Neil always gives you the sales pitch on his new products he earns commissions on and is just trying to upsell, regardless of actual treatment efficacy. After placing the retainers, I immediately realized I was conned as these retainers were impossible to clean and very uncomfortable months after placement. I ended up having to spend almost $1000 to fix this failed treatment at an orthodontist in Boston where I had moved. The irony is Dr. Neil's office forgot to bill me for this treatment. I finally received a bill for $800 in May of 2021 (over a year delayed). I explained to them that the treatment failed and I shouldn't have to pay. The office refused to work with me and kept asking for the money. They were too incompetent to update my address in their system and repeatedly sent bills to my old address. I reluctantly paid and tried to file a dispute with my credit card company since patients shouldn't have to pay for failed medical treatments. A few months later, I won my dispute against Dr. Neil with American Express. Amex agreed I shouldn't have to pay for failed medical treatment and the office was too disorganized to respond to Amex's requests for documentation. At this point after the loss in the Amex dispute, Dr. Neil threatened to take me to collections if I didn't pay (despite the failed service, 18 month billing delay, and dispute loss). Patients in this country don't have much leverage when it comes to failed medical treatment so I had to pay the $800 again. I hope this story serves as a warning to anyone considering orthodontics in Chicago. Stay far away from this office. read more

A quality orthodontic practice! Now that I have finished my treatment, I can conclusively say that I am very satisfied to have sought the expertise of Dr. Neil and his staff. As a medical student, I appreciated the use of innovations in the practice that enhanced the patient experience and made treatment more efficient. They include Cone-Based CTs to obtain 3D imaging of the skull, SureSmile robotically adjusted wires, self-ligating brackets, use of temporary anchorage devices (TADs), online records such as pictures that my dentist or oral surgeon could access, to even automated phone and email reminders. Dr. Neil and his staff are caring and experienced. (Dr. Neil is very knowledgeable and the staff is particularly friendly. I enjoyed talking and laughing with them during appointments.) The practice is also unique in that Dr. Neil has experience with complex cases and has collaborated with top dental and medical providers in the country. My results, both functionally and aesthetically, came out excellent, especially given my more complex dental and medical history. Some general advice I have is to be very clear and straightforward with what you would like achieved with orthodontics. This will help you and your provider achieve your goal as directly as possible. Also, to be patient, as orthodontics is a gradual process. And finally, as with all medical and dental care, seek multiple opinions. I am happy I chose Get it Straight for my treatment. Just no. The wait times are ridiculous and not the way to run a practice. Pulled my kid on her lunch hour to see if daytime worked better and she wouldn't have to wait an HOUR. Nope. One HOUR later and doc finally walking in. Anyone can fix teeth. The disregard for time is NOT okay. Consistently an hour even when it is daytime and no other patients waiting to be seen?? Granted, nobody enjoys having metal things glued onto their teeth, or having a expanding device thing stuck on the top of their mouth and cranked daily, this place still totally sucks it big time. First of all, at each "appointment" I ended up having to wait at least a half hour to an hour on some occasions. Second of all, prices are jacked up. Third, the Dr. himself has quite possibly the worst breath I've ever smelled. Um, hello- didn't you get the memo about brushing your teeth if you work an occupation where your head is constantly 3 inches from your customers noses? My treatment was completed in February of 2009 after 28 months. I was referred by an orthodontist in Michigan after relocating to Chicago. Overall, my experience was okay. The technicians were friendly and pleasant. I only had one VERY NEGATIVE experience with the front desk and her name was Jennifer. She was extremely rude and I never got the chance to confront her unprofessional behavior in person. As for Dr. Neil, he was just okay. At the start of my treatment, he was very good about explaining things. That pretty much stopped after I decided not to have jaw surgery or have an endodontist add bovine and/or cadaver bone to my jaw. Each of those suggested procedures would not have been covered by my insurance and they cost thousands of dollars extra. Well, I can't just pick money off the tree in the backyard to pay for my dental work. I had already flexed $6000 and maxed out my $1000 orthodontic coverage from my dental insurance to pay for my braces and all the ancillary tests. Maybe that pissed him off because he was nothing but rude from that time on. I have a very narrow lower arch and during one adjustment that REALLY hurt, he totally snapped at me. So much that I almost cried. He was such an ass that I would only go on Fridays and see his partner, Dr. Colleen. After that incident, I only saw him two more times. I'd like to thank him for scraping off my enamel while removing the glue on the day my braces were removed and costing me over $2000 in dental bonding. Dr. Colleen is GREAT! But as stated in other reviews, the hours and parking sucks. Good luck getting emergency appointments. I actually had one technician scold me for waiting so long to have my wire re-engaged. After explaining to her that I called and that there were no appointment times available, she went to the front desk and chewed them out. Plain and simple - the front desk staff is incompetent. Dr. W is rude and condescending and not patient centered. He will act like he is doing you a favor even though you've paid for damn near all of his services in full and on time out of pocket. If you have questions, on HIS WORK, don't bother asking them. You will be berated for questioning. He relies on children to communicate information to parents (I'm sorry, have you talked to a child or teenager before and asked them for medical detail? How far did that get you?!) and blames the patient and the parents if something gets lost in translation. If you happen to have a conversation with him to fill in the blanks and can get through him interrupting half of your side of the conversation to tell him that his tone is rude, unprofessional and inappropriate, his only response will be that he's sorry "he's not happy enough for you" and that he should get kudos for calling back "in just an hour". Never mind the fact that he sounds like you, a paying patient and concerned parent is wasting his precious time. And when he tells you that he doesn't remember all his patients' parents, but he does remember you, "the blonde hair girl", don't believe him. (note, I'm Asian) It is no wonder the dentist who referred our family to him states she now regrets it. This practice is AWFUL! DO NOT GO HERE unless you want to get ripped off and left with bad treatment that needs to be corrected. In addition to the poor orthodontic results, Dr Neil Warshawsky is incredibly rude and mean to his staff. He berates them in front of his patients and treats them terribly. I always felt so awkward during my visits when he would yell at them for asking a simple questions. I ALWAYS had to wait 15-20 min at least for my appointments and the front desk staff was rude as well. Lastly, my teeth are still crooked and I will now have to go to another office for treatment. I've been going here for over a year and a half and since my teeth are jacked, I will be seeing the folks at Get It Straight for at least another year. Thankfully, they have been nowhere near as rude as the other reviewers make them seem. I don't think it's just me either -- they seem to treat lots of the other patients like people. Yes, I hear the occasional grumble while I'm waiting when a less than friendly patient leaves, but whatever. They're people, too. To address the prior reviews: 1. I have never noticed ill-smelling breath. They wear masks most of the time and some of the supplies they have to use smell kind of bad anyway. Besides, I can only imagine how many gross mouths they have to look in on a daily basis. 2. Yes, Dr. Neil is busy and you will sometimes wait, especially on a Tuesday at lunch. If you don't want to risk waiting, there are two other orthodontists for you to make appointments with on slower days. Don't worry, one of your brackets may pop off at some point and you will get to be the emergency appointment that slows all of the scheduled appointments down. 3. Yes, I'm paying about $1100 more than I was quoted from the lowest-priced office I visited and he's not in network with BCBS. They do, however, have offices in some of the higher-rent neighborhoods in Chicago i.e. where more people tend to work. They also have pretty flexible hours and are good about squeezing me in if something goes wonky (see point above). Yes, I could have gone with the in network orthodontist who would have cost half as much, but since she only had office hours in Chicago one day a month, it seemed unwise. read more

Went in with my friend to get her teeth checked for moral support. I was wowed by the office. Even though I was just a tag along my own questions were answered. The hygienists were all kind, and seemed to be expertise. My friend had xrays & stuff done that day. The hygienist (brown hair) was super nice & got us out of there in time for my friend & I's lunch date. Didn't have long wait time and was given lots of options. The Holiday decorations were super cute :) Seems like a fun group of ladies. read more

Dr. Neil Warshawsky is the third orthodontist I've worked with in my life and by far the best. I moved to Chicago in the middle of my treatment and he was recommended to me by the ortho in my small town in Alabama. She knew him from seeing him speak at conferences and knew he was the best. I was fearful that this also meant he was the most expensive but went for the consultation anyway. He agreed to finish my treatment for the remaining balance I had with my old ortho even though I'm sure his rate was higher. I went through orthognathic surgery with Dr. Neil and now my braces have been off for a month now and for the first time in my life, I'm proud of my smile. Last week I noticed swelling below my bottom teeth near where my incision had been. My surgeon was out of town so I called Dr. Neil. He has checked in with me nearly every day (even checking on me via email on a Saturday night). It doesn't get much better than that does it?
