We ordered over $250 worth of lobster. The packing date was May 26 and it arrived on June 2. The lobster and the ice packs were warm. I emailed right away asking for a refund or a replacement. We did not receive either. They responded with- I put the wrong zip code on the order. I looked on the package and it was all correct shipping info. It pained me to throw it all away. Years ago, when the company was first starting, buying from them was a great experience. However, That was 15 years ago. Now, they suck. Last few orders were not that good, but this last one... Order placed for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner. Long/short, at noon on Christmas Eve, our dinner was sitting at a FedEx locality 14 hours away. This company has bad customer support and the company does not hold true to its word. I ordered 8 lobster rolls on Dec 8 with an Dec 24 delivery date to my home in southern CA. Today, on Dec 24 I received a FedEx delivery date to be Dec 27 - two days after Christmas. These rolls were the Christmas dinner for my family. I called the company (did not receive a call back) and I emailed the company and requested they send me a new order with FedExd or another provider with overnight delivery. I'm in WA state and have tired other live lobster suppliers in the past and always had a dead one or two upon arrival. I've tried Get Maine Lobster twice iin the past month for milestone birthday celebrations and have had all lobsters arrive alive and well. The second batch I kept alive overnight because I didn't want to chance a Saturday delivery going haywire. All of those stayed alive in my refrigerator overnight. The people at my parties loved them! Ordered a dozen lobsters several weeks prior for arrival on Christmas Eve. The company uses FedEx which currently is one of worst shipping services in the world. Items shipped on time from the company but failed to make it to my address on Christmas Eve as expected. Was supposed to arrive by 10:30 a.m. on December 24th actually arrived December 28th end of day. FedEx claimed they had the wrong address. Get Maine Lobsters asked me to confirm my address and it was the correct address. Needless to say Christmas Eve dinner was a disappointment and the scramble that ensued to get the dinner party back track was a bit rough. I know Get Maine Lobster had no control over FedEx, except for selecting a garbage shipping service to handle all their shipping, so I really had no issue with them until it was time to get a refund. I paid for insurance Incase anything went wrong I would get my money back and Get Maine Lobsters would get paid no matter what. Where my issue comes in is that I paid $355 for these lobsters to arrive on Christmas Eve instead they arrived on my door step nearly 5 days later and the contact at Get Maine Lobster told me to open the box and inspect the contents as a requisite for the insurance. Turned out to be a fairly gross ordeal. I sent pictures of the box full of rotten corpses and they asked if I wanted them to refill the order. Having lost my taste for a rematch with FedEx and still annoyed over the whole ordeal I chose not to have more sent. I was then informed that I would not get a full refund. I would be stuck paying for shipping and insurance. Approx $43 and still left with nothing. My issue on this matter is that Get Maine Lobster received full reimbursement for the failed shipment including a sizeable profit and I still have a box of spoiled rotting seafood on my door step and I am out $43. Their unwillingness to make this right, especially after they receive full reimbursement is less than satisfactory. So buyer beware .... I recommend you find a local store that sells live lobsters and buy them there. They will most likely be cheaper and you will know exactly what your getting. read more

Would rate this company as a "zero" if available. Ordered 4 tails 5-6 oz with a BOGO free - about $175. - for a holiday party. Tails arrived in torn, worn plastic bags, tails were smaller than advertised with discolored centers and looked old. After jumping through hoops for the customer service rep with dates, times and pictures, they finally offered a $25 credit. We have discarded all 8 tails and have a greater appreciation for what this company calls "customer satisfaction". Had to have them delivered because I don't live just around the corner. I will, and do, pay additional for quality food but if I'm shorted it does get my attention. #2. Even though my state, nor does Maine, charge sales tax on food items they stuck a "gourmet tax" on the product! It was really freaking me out but I am relieved to say that I got the message that they shipped it out 1500 on February 25th and I got it February 26th. The lobsters have always been alive upon receipt and I always prepare them that same evening. They taste as good as the ones I was buying from my local fisherman while living in Scarborough, ME. Just received six 1.2-1.4 lbs lobsters Thursday and every single one fell within that weight range. We had lobsters, corn and vintage champagne that night. The large lobster tails were good, except for one of them (molting lobster tail , which I had to search extensively online to find out why my lobster tail was looking this way) which GML gave refund. Only concern was there was a difference in how frozen items were when delivered. We paid $210 for 4, inedible lobster tails. We had them over the weekend and they were fishy and bitter tasting. Called the company and they said they wanted a picture. We never thought to take a picture of bad tasting food. So I went and dug what was left of the tail out of the trash. I would have gone for two stars. The problem being, I ordered larger lobsters (three dozen) they were all supposed to be in the 3/4 pound range. There might have been four that met that criteria. I emailed the sales guy and sent photos of the lobsters on a digital scale. They were apologetic and said they would refund the difference. I am so pleased with this company! I ordered several items for New Year's Eve. Live Lobsters, Lobster Bisque, Live mussels, and the all time favorite Lobster Roll's. Somehow one lobster was crushed in transit and a few of the mussels. I ordered 8 lobster tails, size 6-7 oz. They were in two packages of 4 tails each. On average, with 6-7 oz tails, I would expect each package to weigh about 26 oz. The packages weighed 24.02 oz and 24.06 oz. I suppose that qualifies as meeting the absolute minimum requirement. With the range of 6-7 oz, I expected a least a couple to be closer to the 7 oz range. When I weighed the tails individually, one still frozen without the normal water-weight loss was 4.9 oz. I think someone at Get Maine Lobster is going far beyond their job description to find the smallest lobsters available to fill orders. I'm an easy-going person. It doesn't take a lot to satisfy me. But this feels more like a rip-off than I find reasonable. Well...I gave them a chance to make me a long-term customer. We put the plastic bags containing the lobster in our fridge, and both plastic bags leaked all over our fridge, so we had to clean out our fridge because it smelled really bad. One of the worst customer service experiences that I've had in quite a while. Placed an order with guaranteed overnight, free delivery and didn't get our lobster until nearly 48 hours later. All the ice was melted and even though I shared photos of the melted ice and the late delivery and a screenshot of their guarantee of overnight delivery on their website they would not do anything except for offer a $25 gift certificate to use in their online store. I had to communicate with them 10 or 12 times and am extremely disappointed. We are not sure that the food is fit to eat so are just out all that money we spent. We will never do business with them again. the worst part is that their website is full of claims of their wonderful customer support and 100% buyer satisfaction. This was the first time I had any trouble with their delivery when I ordered 10 lobster tails in a recent promotion, and they didn't arrive. I called two weeks later and explained that I wanted a refund on my credit card, but they refused my request. Then I was told they would ship a replacement order, and that was how they would resolve the situation. I would have rather had a refund, but the fact that they would ship a replacement order, in lieu of a refund, is better than nothing.
