Came in here today to pick up a SIM card. Some one on my plan had lost their phone. So being that…read morewe're local, we called here to check. The lady quoted me $16 for the SIM card. We showed up within 15 minutes. Michael Hoff, the associate that helped us, informed that the SIM card would be $35. What in the world? Who would pay that? So we actually walked out. Got back to the car and got kinda annoyed. So we went back in. He insisted it was $35. We demanded to talk to the female that answered the phone. Then he questioned us to confirm if we called the correct store. We said "yes. We're local. This is our regular store". He wound up selling it to us for $16. He then told us that we had to call AT&T and activate the SIM card. We go home. Call AT&T. Stay on hold for a long bit. Finally get a hold of some one. She happened to be a corporate manager for AT&T. We explained everything to her and she was appalled to hear of our experience. She explained that this particular store is not a corporate store but it's a franchise. So although they can charge any price - it's frowned upon. She couldn't even find that particular employee (Michael Hoff) in the computer system. She tells us that SIM cards cannot be activated over the phone and it needs to be done in store. So if you want to save yourself some headache- head to the corporate store in New London (I cannot vouch how good/bad the service is at that store either) (Yes this trip was about a year ago.
