We rented e-bikes from Getaway Adventures for a day of riding and wine tasting. We had a wonderful experience. Our bikes were ready for us and we were in and out quickly with some great suggestions for lunch stops, sights to see, and a map. The bikes were a pleasure to ride and took us all around Healdsburg, taking in the spectacular views and delicious wines. We would use Getaway Adventures again!

My wife and I (ages 39) signed up for the Russian River Peddle and Paddle tour while we were in town for a wedding in mid-August 2022. We were not disappointed! Our adventure started out in a cool, beautiful California Redwood grove. Raphael, our guide, was knowledgeable about locals sights, wineries, and the local ecosystems. We pedaled on a road for about half a mile through a green and lush forest, and when we got to the bottom of the hill, it opened up into a BEAUTIFUL warm valley of vineyards. It was a little warm at this point, but the wind from the bicycles and our athletic clothing kept us nice and comfortable. We stopped at the Gracianna winery for a tasting, plus short walk through their vineyards, then headed back to the Redwood grove (starting point) for a delicious lunch that Raphael had gone ahead and set up for us in the shade of the Redwoods. We then changed in to our sandals and bathing suits for the kayak portion of the tour (we kept these in our backpack, but you could easily keep them in your car at the parking lot) and started our Russian River tour. We saw beautiful ducks, a hawk, and tons of fish, plus all the beautiful flora along the way. We only got warm a couple times despite the 90 degree weather, because you could easily just splash some cool water on you. We did swim twice to REALLY cool off (the water felt around the 70s) and after soaking for a minute or two, my body felt great again to continue without being uncomfortable at all. Raphael was also able to take many photos along the way, both with his phone and with ours, and made a great record of our trip without us having to worry about it. Would highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to bike/taste/kayak in the Napa or Russian River Valley's (it was maybe a 45 min drive from our Airbnb in Napa).Au

The hubby and I rode through Healdsburg on the Sip 'n Cycle with Randy as our guide. Our plane was an hour late, but thankfully Randy patiently waited, greeted us upon arrival and adjusted schedule and stops to accommodate. Hybrid bikes are modern and nicely equipped, Kind bars and water to snack and hydrate. The scenery, sights, and landscape are breathtaking. We stopped at three wineries for tasting, sampled bold reds. We enjoyed a filling and healthy picnic lunch of cheese, meats, fruits, bread, hummus, and dessert under a lush tree with a sampling of wine at Quivira. A perfect day of sipping and cycling on a sunny and breezy day. Thanks Get Away Adventures and Randy for an awesome outing!!

Best Bikes and wonderful, friendly, helpful service. We rented bikes for a full day of a self-guided tour. Tim was so helpful... giving us lots of tips and great advice for maneuvering around the area. The bikes were top-notch, working perfectly and easy to ride. They gave us a map and even a little holder for my phone to hook up to the handlebars so I could use GPS on my phone. It was a highlight of our trip! Thank you, Getaway Adventures!

The best tour I've ever gone. Celebrated my husband's and i 9th year wedding anniversary. Oh! Don was an amazing kayaking tour guide!!! And we didnt get bored nor felt uneasy. We had so much fun with the rapids, thou i fell on the 3rd one i guess, and swam for a bit. Also, we experienced listening to the animals around us and saw a few; turtles, birds, little (babies) fishes. It was just peaceful and the perfect for resetting after having along week. Then, our lunch was great i mean i love that basil lemon pasta we had(i actually bought one at trader joes) and its simple yes, but having that atmosphere and vibe was just something everyone should have. The beginning till the end was worth every dollar we've spent. We can't wait for next year because we are going for the biking next!!

There are not enough stars for this review!…read more Every bit of this outfit is outstanding. The staff is friendly, informative and patient. The equipment is ideal for the area, with plenty off choices for more intense rides. The options for "trails" are urban for the local area, and north and south for the Wineries. We had a package deal that has a guide for the first day and on our own for the second day. Our guide, Taylor, was way cool. A local farmer/roadie/ San Fran local, with keen intel on the farming/bio-dynmic/ foodie/ family history. He clearly has a great history and relationship with the folks we stopped at and every bit was personable and flexible. He had an excellent read on the strength and weakness of the group. Overall, we did a gentle 20 miles on cushie bikes and drank a touch more wine then is good for willfully concurring the hills. We had a group of 6 and took a north loop that peaked at Quivira with the most spectacular bio-dynamic gardens. I mean bees, pigs, chickens and just the coolest raised beds I have ever seen. Seriously, I could happily retire and intern here. Our second day, was on our own on the southern route, me thinks just about 23 miles. My Aunt made it to Porter Creek (not on purpose) but I peaked at Thomas George Estate. We followed recommendations and lunched at Arista. Worthy!!! This is another heaven on Earth spot. It is not over rated. My only small complaint, on the second day (far beyond the control of the good folks at Wine County Bikes was the aggressive construction truck drivers. Mind you...there is a consistent "you're going to get hurt bad if you come off the road" with no clear bike lane. With that said the greater majority of cars, albeit fast, are very good about dealing with "tourist bike riders". Highly recommended!!!!!!

The tour guides were extremely helpful in making sure the helmets and seats were adjusted to the right fit just for me and they made sure to be very thorough in teaching me how to operate the bike before I took off (it was surprisingly extremely easy to ride- I didn't even have to pedal if I didn't want to). They were also very knowledgeable on each winery they took us to and all of the places we went had the most amazing views. I can't express enough how much I would recommend this tour to anyone- wine lovers or not (I'm not, but had a total blast). Go Bolo's bikes!!

After just a quick 5 minute training session, I was cruising through the back roads of Dry Creek Valley on my high-tech "electric" bike -- like a Pro !!! We have visited this area many times, driving through the vineyards, but the relaxing adventure on Bolo's Bike Tour gave us both a totally different perspective. The silent electric-assisted bikes virtually float down the country back roads... the magnificent vineyard vista's are so much more spectacular at the 10-20 mph pace than though the window of a speeding car. The phrase "stop and smell the roses" could be replaced with "glide and see the vineyards". Our 5 hour excursion flew by. Our first stop was the Historic Dry Creek General Store to pick up a delicious picnic lunch. We then cruised to a hidden private vineyard directly off West Dry Creek Road. The vineyard owners knew our hosts Chris, Seth and Jonathan well, and recommended a delightful Sav Blanc, that perfectly paired with our lunch. We sat at a rustic picnic table beside the Dry Creek River. The peaceful forest sounds and gurgling stream was a unique experience. After lunch we effortlessly cruised down a winding side road to the magnificent Schlumberger Vineyard for a fantastic Wine Tasting. This delightful vineyard is designed in the elegant style an Italian Villa, and we lounged in the white-columned courtyard by a fountain -- the Wine flowed -- from a crisp dry Champaign-style sparkling wine, to the local White Wines, climaxing with a beautiful "Old Vine" Red Zinfandel. The Bolo's Bikes Owners are long-time residents in Healdsburg, and they expertly guided us through some of the most Spectacular hidden wine country vista's I have ever seen. They entertaining us with interesting local tales, historical facts, and good humor. The next time we visit Sonoma Wine Country, a Bolo's Bike Tour will be on the Top of our list, for another a relaxing fun-filled excursion !!!

So Fun! Their shop…read moreis easy to find near the traffic circle coming into/out of the main thoroughfare not far from the main plaza. (Tip about parking.... don't park in the main "plaza" area as they have 3 hour limits and will ticket you. There are areas just off the main part of town that have free parking as well as paid parking lots. Definitely cheaper than the parking ticket we heard could be $200.) Chris set us up with bikes easily and quickly and then Shannon took us out on a lovely 15 mile-ish ride with 2 winery stops - Mounts and Mill Creek as well as a brief stop at the Dry Creek market in case you need to use the bathroom or grab a snack. (Our tour included Big John sandwiches, so we were set there. But if you wanted a sweet treat, the Dry Creek market had all kinds of goodies.) As it was a Friday morning, the roads were not super congested (thankfully) so we didn't have to deal with a lot of cars. On the way back, we encountered more cars but still not too bad. I would not want to do this on a weekend as I'm not super comfortable riding with cars zooming past. The ebikes were great and handled smoothly. I'm a newbie for the most part as this was my second time on an ebike and it was easy to use. So if you've not tried it yet, I highly recommend it. I mean..... As long as you know how to ride a normal bike that is. The helmets come with built in speakers and a microphone so you can talk to each other and listen to Shannon as she shares local tidbits. The bikes have a bag that you can put your water bottle in and your purse. And if you buy any wine at the wineries, Shannon can carry a couple bottles or Chris will go get them and bring them back to the shop. If you need to buy a travel wine box, they sell those too at the shop. As I'm traveling on Alaska, I get to check a free case of wine. Woohoo! You don't have to take a tour with them. You can just rent ebikes from them for the day if you want. But I like the tour because they know the area, the locals and you don't have to think of where to go. Plus, they picked 2 fantastic wineries that I would not have found on our own. Thank you, Shannon for a great day! Thank you, Chris for getting our wine back to the shop!

While we have used different outfits lately - we had a great experience with Russian River Adventures a few years back, so we came in excited to return. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing, mainly due to poor planning by the staff. We booked for four people on a Thursday - my wife, myself, and our two teens (14 and 16)--with the expectation that we'd have two boats, which is standard for this group size. However, the team miscounted the boats that morning. When we pointed this out, instead of fixing the mistake, they pulled us aside and crammed all four of us into a boat intended for three, squeezing in an extra seat to make it "fit." Visibly frustrated, the team promised to speak with the owner and make it right (it was two high schoolers running it that day). I didn't argue and wanted to at least try to have a good time and not be that Dad. The result on the boat? A very cramped and uncomfortable setup that made the inflatable much harder to steer and navigate--especially on a 9-mile river trip. This wasn't the experience we paid for or expected based on our prior trips. The staff seemed more focused on moving us along rather than making it right. Still haven't heard from the owner. We'll likely explore other options next time around. Disappointed to see the service slip like this.
