Been a customer here for about a decade. Needed my bars wrapped, they sell enve tape for $59.99, $19.99 over enve retail price on their website. That's 50% over retail. The shop was listed on a local bike club website as offering a discount to members, when I went to pay the manager resisted providing the discount, then he looked up the club website and begrudgingly offered 10% off. 10% off was still 35% over retail. Not coming back. When the British couple ran the shop things were better. BTW I was in the bike industry for many years. read more

SERVICE: All bike shops are NOT created equal. Had a front gear cable replaced at another shop and went out for ride. Rubbed horribly and wasn't setup right. Stopped here and they adjusted on the spot, oh and your tires need a little air, and your chain could use some lube and...the mechanic used to work on airplanes and looked for ways to make it better. Amazing service and oh that will be $25? Are you kidding me? That was AWESOME. I leave the store and my bike PURRS. No kidding, really good experience, nice people, couldn't be happier. read more

Rented some bikes to bike around those and through some of the wineries in healdsburg. They have a wide variety of bikes and the service was very efficient. They had a handy map to guide bikers. We were equipped with a bike helmet and the bikes had a small enclosed compartment for your personal belongings. We were able to bike on dry creek road and see some beautiful wineries. They have street parking, water available to refill in store and restrooms in the site. read more

I was in the area from out of town and brought my bike gear with me. Called the shop up and staff was very friendly. I reserved a road bike for two days later for $60. I showed up two days later and everything went super smooth. Staff gave me a map of the area, helped attach my Garmin to the bike, and sold me a beta bag. Super competent staff. I've had Spoke Folk work on a few of my bikes over the last few years: broken carbon fork on a road bike -- ouch -- and truing my mountain bike wheel as well as doing some tuning and inspection. Most recently I was helped by Luca and Drew -- they're super friendly, good humored and professional (strong passion for biking and really knowledgeable). I also called in looking for some parts. I talked to Steve and he was super helpful, clear and knowledgeable as well. He did some research and called me back to let me know that the parts were currently out of stock everywhere and in high demand and that if I found them online should be careful of getting price gouged. He told me the MSRP and let me know that if I were able to track the parts down, then they could install them no problem. All the staff is super friendly, laid back and knowledgeable -- I plan to continue taking my bikes here for maintenance and upgrades. read more

I'm. So. Out. Of. Shape. I won a couple rentals at an auction and two years later, finally cashed in on the "prize." They were very accommodating and hooked us up with the right hybrid bikes for our journey. FWIW, "hybrid" does not mean part pedal/part motor like we thought. LOL With youthful confidence and sunscreen applied, we were sent on 20 mile trek via West Dry Creek Rd. Despite the 96* weather, I was enjoying the beauty of the vineyards, blue skies, and knowledge that I get to live in this very place. Then.... About 2.7 miles into it, we went up one hill too many and I had to stop and sit on the blazing hot asphalt in order to halt the queasy feeling. I could not believe I was having this pathetic of a reaction. LOL Anyhow, after a few minutes, I was fine and it turned into another 4 hours of great enjoyment of being in Northern California Wine Country. We cycled to the bridge then looped back around down Dry Creek Road, stopping at the general store for a much-appreciated lunch. Honestly, when I saw the "spoke folk" building, it felt a bit like the light at the end of the tunnel! All in all.. Staff was great and very informative. Bikes we ordered were recreational and functioned very well. Spoke Folk = thumbs up! read more

We send of bikes via BikeFlight and they held them for us...that was soooo helpful. The also gave us some tips and where to ride and where to get drinks...like coffee and beer too. While I was waiting for them to take care of other people i overheard them complaining about "people who come in last minute and expect help" yowza. Even after half an hour discussion with the owner wherein I said the charge did not bear a fair relationship between my usage and his cost plus a generous profit, he was unwilling to make any concession on my cost or the concept of how he charges customers. We asked if we could just change into our cycling gear, and they said immediately yes. A great place to start out for biking wine country! They rent lots of nice bikes for ~$30/day and have a large full-service shop (mostly road bikes). I came in to pick up a kombi I purchased online. I salt sadly was not fully prepared to get the bike to my home in Santa Rosa, but Steve offered to drop it off at my home for me! On Christmas Eve! The staff were all friendly, patient and knowledgeable! I watched them help other customers having a tough time making decisions. They were also patient with my rowdy curious toddlers which I very much appreciated. I'll definitely be ordering more accessories through them whenever I need them! Rented bikes here over the summer for a cruise through wine country. They gave us maps with short and long routes and made some great recommendations for places to stop. The bikes were in fine shape, no complaints at all. If you're driving into town, there's a lot right next to the building that looks tempting but you can't park there. Enjoying the warm, peaceful afternoon In Healdsburg, I was welcomed into this wonderful shop to "check it out", although they were preparing to close! It was lovely to meet the proprietors and tour the beautiful and well-stocked selections of bicycles and accessories. Many times, when visiting a bike shop, you have to carefully maneuver between tight isles and a large confusing volume of accessories. Not here. Wonderful products from bike manufacturers, accessories and clothing. I loved the shop's own logo'd wool jerseys for those chilly summers in SF, and winter riding everywhere else! You can rent new Globe comfort cruisers to tour the town and wine country. You can drop your own bike off for a tune-up (great menu board with prices!), or specialized modifications. Make sure you visit this shop when in Healdsburg. It is THE cycling source for the Alexander Valley/Sonoma/Santa Rosa area! read more

I reviewed this shop a couple of years ago but wanted to say what was great then has only gotten better. I continue to only trust mechanical work on my road and mountain bikes to Fritz, Matt and Doug and will bring my bikes n hour from Mill Valley to know the work is done correctly the first time. The owners Richard and Liz are absolute perfectionists and have fostered a culture of high level customer service. Kimberly manages the front end with total professionalism. The most important thing to me is I am always made to feel important when I walk through the door to this shop. I would not hesitate to recommend Spoke Folk for a bike purchase, service or clothing. We rented bikes here to cruise through Dry Creek Valley on an afternoon of wine tasting. The service at Spoke Folk was great; I'm not certain but believe we encountered the owners or managers while we were here. I called a few days ahead of our trip to switch our rental date, and they were very accommodating. The rental process was pretty fast and straightforward, and they provided us with maps and coupons for a 2-for-1 tasting at one of the wineries on our route. The rental prices seemed to be very similar to most other places in Sonoma County that offer bike rentals, with the added advantage that you can choose which type of bike you want to rent, if you're a more serious cyclist wanting more than a booze cruise through Sonoma. We rented the basic touring bikes and they were just fine for our short trip. We would definitely rent from Spoke Folk again, highly recommend. read more
