I wandered in here while waiting for The Lark to open, just looking to get a pastry and kill time. I ended up having the best grilled cheese sandwich ever (their amazing bread, Cotswold cheddar, bacon, and avocado). It was dense and filling, and they didn't skimp on the high quality ingredients. I don't normally like sweet pickles, but theirs were fantastic. The customer service was great as well - friendly, attentive, and hardworking! This place is delicious. I had the special which was the avocado tartine. Rustic bread open faced with avocado, marinated tomatoes and a hard boiled egg on top. It was amazing! Wow! Lunch here is golden. On the advice of many friends I tried this terrific bread shop for lunch and had the roast beef sandwich with onions, lettuce, and horseradish on the freshest baguette imaginable. It looked to me like they had wonderful artisan breads behind the counter and tasty pasteries. read more

My new favorite bakery! I got an apple, ham and Brie tart which was amazing, and bought a semolina loaf for the road. I was so impressed by the tart I went back to buy some pastries which are as pretty as they are delicious. I wish I was a local so I could eat there all the time. Loved it so much. The toast we ordered had a stale-ish taste to it. Otherwise, the shop was really cute. The kind lady who ran the place (I assume) was awesome! She was extremely personable and you could tell she was passionate about the food they served. However, (I hope I'm not considered snobby for saying this) whenever I've ordered an affogato in the past, it was made with authentic gelato. I was disappointed to see them use breyers vanilla. A small treasure located on the central square in Gettysburg. The bread here is world-class. The French baguettes are an adequate reason to make a special stop, but there are many other bread offerings which should be sampled. I've been here twice so far. The first time i had the banh mi, and i have to say i was very disappointed. The bread the sandwich was on was extremely difficult to bite through and the filling had no seasoning. I was so bummed that the same week my fiance and I made our own banh mi for dinner so i could get my fix. However, today I had an amazing pecan diamond on my lunch break. I was going to save it for dinner but i couldn't wait. It was like the best pecan pie ever but with a buttery delicious crust and no edge. I'm thinking my description isn't doing it justice. I also had the herbed chicken sandwich and potato salad. Potato salad was perfect with bacon, fresh herbs and a nice diced cut. The sandwich was pretty good but could have used some salt. Roasted tomatos were a nice touch. In the past I've been lucky enough to have their seeded twist which is amazing. Hope this helps! read more

I was not impressed with this stop. The food was alright, and the older woman was sweet but there was a little girl working there who was not nice at all. It's not her fault, I understand she is young, but she was downright rude. A friend I was with bought coffee and did not know (having been her first time there) that she had to go to the side and serve herself coffee. When she asked the child who rang her up she was completely ignored. I picked up a bag of peppermint bark they were selling and asked my friends if they were in the mood for chocolate and the little girl laughed about it to her friend saying how "stupid I was for not knowing it was called bark", then was mildly surprised when I called it bark the second time I referred to it. We avoided this stop the rest of our stay in Gettysburg. read more

What a gem! I was working in the area and stopped by the Gettysburg Baking Company for a cup of coffee, but when I walked in, I couldn't believe my eyes, it was a carbohydrate heaven! Fresh baguettes, pastries, sandwiches, cupcakes, cookies, etc.!! I wanted one of each. I walked out with a dessert for myself, a dessert for later and some amazing Olive focaccia bread! The chocolate chip cookie was perfect in every way, the black bottom cupcake was over-the-top delicious and the Olive focaccia (as recommended by the sweet girl who works there) was just as delightful as she described! I didn't eat all of this in one sitting but I swear I could have. I can't wait to go back. My only regret is that I didn't dine here for lunch! Next time I'm in town I'll be sure to stop again! read more

Wonderful bakery. Everything I have here is amazing. The cinnamon raisin twist is amazing as are all of the pastries I have had here. Coffee is excellant and so is the egg, bacon sandwich.
