Ok. I usually don't come across places that I would deem a "bad review" but I can guarantee you I will "more than likely" not dine at GG's Cafe again. The food nor drink didn't have a bit of "soul" in it. I almost let it ruin my dining experience but instead I blessed it and thanked God for it. The food in my opinion was overpriced for the value of it. Pathetic presentation of the food, tasteless, and to top it off they actually charge you to use your card! (This should be mentioned beforehand so that customer's have the option to use cash.) I'm an ELITE YELPER (this means I review a lot of places & I base my reviews off of my honest first impressions) and a REAL foodie (I dine out at least 4 times per week) & I stand by every review my name is on. It was utterly & completely disappointing. The ONLY thing that somewhat redeemed this uneventful experience was that the cashier & wait staff were friendly. I'm willing to speak with the owners regarding my review. In the meantime, here's why I gave the rating that I did: 1. The food I received that day was very dry. The pasta salad was virtually dry noodles. 2. I was offered no dressing with side salad. 3. The salmon was extremely salty & cold in the middle. 4. My strawberry lemonade was purely syrup. 5. I had no idea the greens & mashed potatoes were a combo item. One of the four restaurant concepts at the Galley at Bakery Square. GG has chicken and ribs and some amazing looking deserts. I think the two ladies that are running it also do baking for groups and catering. Put my order in and one of the ladies delivered my order and stopped to chat. She offered one of their chocolate chip cookies but for some unknown reason I declined. The Jamaican Spice Chicken sandwich was tasty and had some pickles and slaw with a green jerk sauce. Not real spicy and good. The sandwich came with a small fresh greens salad that was just the right side. Looking forward to stopping back and getting a desert! This was my 2nd visit to Bakery Square and I'm glad I finally got an opportunity to eat at GGs café. The café is run by two sisters-Meredith and Christine who also operate a custom bake shop in Homewood called SugarxButter. Everything here is made from scratch. I was asking about their chicken dishes which is their signature item and at their suggestion got their daily special-Alabama chicken with hot sauce. My son who was with me got their jackfruit cakes-being vegan along with a side of fried green beans, and Brussel Sprouts. Being part of Galley Bakery Square you need to grab your table before you order so you can give them your table number. You can also scan the menu with the barcode located on the table menu. When paying by credit card the credit card fee is passed onto you. This fee is not done by the individual concept but rather the Galley itself. Expect to pay more since these people are chefs. Once seated we got our food with minimal wait. My chicken was so good and had the right amount of spicy kick to it without being overbearing. My son loved his jackfruit cakes and shared some of his fried green beans and Brussel Sprouts with me. Meredith had prepared a special green dipping sauce for the green beans. They were very good and of course being fried, very filling. The Brussel Sprouts were good as well. I wanted to end my meal with one of their homemade chocolate chip cookies which I had before but alas, they had sold out of them. They promised to reserve one for me on my next visit. Having had that cookie before I must say it was delicious and with the added touch of them putting whipped cream on it and a cherry makes it a dessert delicacy over just another cookie. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating at Galley Bakery Square. The South Parking garage offers you two hours of free parking when you come during a certain timeframe. Really disappointed. Place my order and they never asked for a table number so I had to stand around and wait. The guy walked by me several times with other orders and never thought to mention I could go sit at a table ( my wife had a table at the other end of the room). Then when my order came out it sat on the counter for a good five minutes until he finally came up to me and asked what I ordered ( there was only 1 or 2 people who ordered in-between). There was another guy waiting next to me who seemed to be having the same issue. More disappointment ensued when I got my food. The rib "special" was terrible. The ribs were drenched in bbq sauce but were super tough and flavorless. At least the Mac and cheese was good. The service hopefully gets better over time, but not sure I'll be back if the food doesn't improve. read more

GG's is one of the incubator businesses in Bakery Square Galley. The staff were amazing. The line was long but moved fast. I was disappointed that there were only two plant based options on the menu: Jackfruit Cakes and Crispy Brussel Sprouts (a side portion). I tried them both. The sprouts were amazing! The cakes were mostly couscous with a hint of eggplant, and on the dry side. I couldn't find the jackfruit. The sauce on the side was the star --I wanted more of that! This was by far and away the worst meal I have ever had at Bakery Square. The bun was as black as a hockey puck and the chicken was as greasy as can be. The Food is good but a bit expensive for Café. I would not recommend. The Security was excellent.

Double fried chicken sandwich was the best chicken sandwich I've had. Usually when places use biscuits as buns, they just crumble and fall apart but this one was perfect. Also customer service was excellent. They had to remake my sandwich so it took extra long and the employee came out and apologized, then gave me a complimentary crafted drink which was not necessary but appreciated. read more

Overpriced, poorly prepared food. I was there last weekend - ordered the salmon which was overcooked to the point of it being inedible. I asked them to try making a new piece of salmon careful to not overcook it - but they returned another dry brick that used to be fish. We were shocked that the chef is apparently incapable of cooking fish but leaves it on the menu. read more

We had a very nice dinner at the new galley in bakery Square. We both had hot chicken sandwiches from GG's. The chicken was well seasoned and well cooked, however the bun was strangely dissatisfying. It seemed to be made from homemade bread but had absolutely no flavor and was incredibly dense. The fries were alright, however tasted like noodles? The buffalo chicken mac & cheese had great flavor but was about 90% chicken, 10% macaroni. We will go back but probably will try a different restaurant or dish. read more
