I really wanted to write a good review for this place but they just couldn't bring it over the line. We sat at the bar and had a great conversation with another couple about local restaurants we haven't tried. We saw pictures of the cheese sticks so wanted to try them. At 6:00 they were out of them. We got the pretzel sticks and they were decent. I ordered the fish which looked great on the person's plate next to me. At 6:30 I was told they were out of fish. The bartender explained that they hand bread the fish and their takeout orders are very large. I'm not a business genius but if you run out of product at 6:30 you have a planning problem. 9 p.m. I can understand. The final straw was it took over 48 minutes to get a cheesesteak hoagie and a buffalo chicken sandwich while waiting at the bar. When we asked how much longer the bartender got snippy and said we waited a while to order and he'll check his order clock to see. My time was from when we ordered the food and not when we walked in. We got the food and took it home. A family next to us left with us because after 20 minutes they still didn't get their drinks. The steak hoagie was chewy and my sweet potato fries I paid $4 extra for were limp and soggy. All 10 of them. We won't be back. Thursday evening dinner. It's a smaller place but with a lot of friendly vibes. The food is well cooked with lots of flavor. It takes a little time to get food but this gives time to socialize with your party. Which is really the spirit of the place. Staff is fun and talkative. Menu is fair. Price is just right. This place was quite a surprise. It gives off dive bar vibes but the food was fantastic. Hand made cheese sticks, home made pizza and real ground meat burger patties! Not frozen! The wife got wings and they were absolutely massive. The service was great and with a big smile. The owner Bonnie came and greeted us since it was our first time. Really appreciate a place like this. Sheesh what an awful experience. Stopped there for dinner, and got a calzone and fish sandwich. Calzone was decent, good enough to have for dinner one night but wouldn't get it again. The fish sandwich however. Goodness. I understand that fried fish is gonna have some color, that's normal. But this fish was so dark and burnt it was closer to black than brown. I should've taken a picture but it probably would've broken my camera. Honestly out of all of this, I feel bad for the fish. To swim around whatever lake or stream or ocean you came from, and then be captured, just to have some inept fry cook waste your existence to a point where you weren't even edible. Fantastic hidden gem on route 8. Great food and drinks. Reasonably price and large portions. The owners are fantastic and friendly. Bring your appetite! I was one of parkside's first customers. I live a few minutes away.. i quit going there a few years ago. I never thought the food or service was that great and then it seemed to not get better.. to say it nicely.. So tonight, we thought we give parkside another try.. we waited close to an hour for our food.. when we complained to the lone bartender / waitress she sent the owner / cook out to speak with us. The owner came out of the kitchen with guns a-blazing and yelled multiple times that "we are are on time.. 26 minutes.. we are are time 26 minutes!!" .. well it was more like 45-50 minutes from the time we placed our order. And, at best, why does it take 26 minutes to make two sandwiches and a salad when there are a total of 6 people in the place? Not to mention the group that ordered after us had their food 15 minutes before us? The owner was unapologetic, very aggressive and defensive and quite abusive.. do you want someone with that kind of demeanor making your food? if you're ok with that then plan for a long wait. I had heard from a friend that this establishment had a very good fish sandwich so I decided to try it. I ordered the Crispy panko crusted fish sandwich to go. I rarely post reviews about restaurants. However, after having the wings at the Parkside Grill, this food snob felt compelled to do so. We had Buffalo, Thai, and garlic / parmesan wings. All were large, meaty, juicy, very tasty, and cooked just right. Definitely some of (maybe) the BEST wings I've ever had. And the staff could not have been more pleasant with the cook bringing my (to go) wings out to the bar and saying, "Thank you for coming by - we appreciate your business". Worst experience ever. Me and another person come in and no one else is in the restaurant. That should've been the first hint. Another table comes in and gets their food and leaves before my table received half their food. She ordered a well done burger with waffle fries. This a very nice bar. You are always warmly welcomed and the service is great. The staff makes you feel like you are at home. All of their food is definitely above average for a small tavern and there is definitely evidence that the use very fresh ingredients. I think their buffalo wings are the best in town and i really know my wings. This is one of the few places that has never disappointed me with either service or food. Club sandwich had the perfect amount of everything though the other food was just tastier according to my date. My chicken sandwich was moist. Everything is very clean. I have complaints and each of them can be solved with one more employee. (They said they are hiring) We were given mayo but no knife to spread it. We patronized this new business as soon as it first opened, which was during the Covid epidemic....and continued to support them. Some take aways: Owners are very friendly and aim to please Food is good and good quality Prices are fair, except the wings are very overpriced compared to other local restaurants. The price has never come down since the pandemic. They have busy spurts that they cannot handle; waited once 15 minutes just to get drinks. Then another 40 minutes for sandwiches to arrive. Not enough wait staff, owners try to do it all. No beer specials, no happy hour, no food specials. We are taking a break from this establishment until they get smarter... BTW the last sandwich I got was a cheesesteak hoagie, which consisted of about 6 slivers of cut up steak pieces and very little cheese, all bun. Almost like they ran out of ingriedients. read more

This is the second time that I've been to the Parkside Grill and both times have been disappointing. Service is very slow and food is just okay. We had reservations for 5:30, were seated promptly but it took 15 minutes to get a drink order and another 15 to order food. We were served our food at least an hour after arriving. The food was good but salads came out with the meal (which to me is out of order, but maybe ordinary to others). The panko fish was very good...I would recommend it. It is a busy little restaurant but with covid very limited capacity, I would never expect it to take a half hour to place an order. Not sure if it's a problem of short staff or disorganization. Stopped for dinner with a party of 4. We ordered onion rings and pretzels for appetizers. The onion rings were perfectly fried, the dip was amazing. We tried this new restaurant out the other day and were so impressed that we returned later in the week! The food is fresh, made in house and made with love! The drinks are equally good in taste and value. Portions are good sized and the value is excellent. I recommend the Buffalo wings--they are big and crispy! While small in size, the restaurant does not feel cramped and is extremely clean. There are TVs well placed making it a great spot for watching sports. The staff & management are friendly and clearly take pride in their work. I strongly encourage everyone to try the Parkside Grill. read more
