We were excited for Raising Canes to open. My cousins in OH always rave about it. Now I see why. I'll start with the service and cleanliness of the restaurant. For only being open a few weeks, they're super efficient. There was a long line but it went fast. The ladies at the counter let you know they're open and to come down. They're patient when you're new explaining options and make ordering efficient. You also don't wait a crazy long time considering all the people waiting. They also have multiple people watching for people to finish and have wet wipes to wipe down the tables and chairs. Fantastic service! The food was really good. It was well seasoned and flavorful. Arrived at the restaurant a few minutes e before my order was due to be ready. It was packed. I stood over to the side patiently waiting for my food. 35 minutes went by. I watched as people who came in a good bit after me stood in line, ordered, and received their food. Finally after about a 40 minute wait, my order was ready. I'll chalk it up to being new. But remember that this is a location with no parking and no drive through. It's tough. The manager, Jake, was very nice and was apologetic multiple times as I waited I'll be back again. The fries are crinkle fries, which again are just Ok for me, and the Texas toast is good. What I really love about this place is their sweet tea!! Was here during the summer, but there was a mix of students and adults. They were busy and it did take about 15 mins before my order was ready but that gave me plenty of time to down sweet tea!! The food was mid at best, an average chicken finger joint, the seasoning was not consistent with the product, meaning one chicken finger was loaded with it, and the other was not. The sauce was a bit above average, not much. The fries are butt stank boring, and the garlic bread was average, not much butter. My daughter told me to get it buttered on both sides. I forgot to do that. Raising Canes is not worth a special trip. But if you're near one and wonder what the hype is, try it out. What the hell. The service was ok, and the ambiance is that of most busy college towns. Canes is nasty. The ONLY good thing they have is their Texas toast. And I don't understand why you need toast with chicken and fries anyhow. I always thought it was asinine that Dairy Queen did it and it is no less asinine with Canes. Their coleslaw is tasteless. I LOVE coleslaw, but this is in the top 2 worst ones I have EVER had. Their fries are flavorless. I don't know how they managed it, but but they are. Their chicken is extremely bland. Literally EVERY place that has chicken is better than this place. And that includes the Luxury Cinemas over there too. KFC, Popeyes, Wendy's, Chick Fil A, Dairy Queen, Sheetz, and Cohen are all VASTLY superior to that crap they serve at Canes. Their sauce isn't even good. Of course they never asked what kind I wanted and I didn't even see any on the board. I asked one guy about it when he stopped at the table. He said they also have ketchup (nope), hot sauce and honey mustard. If I had known I would have asked for honey mustard. But even that could NOT have possibly saved the meal. Even so honey mustards vary a lot as well, and I'm sure theirs would have been just as nasty as everything else they have there. Plus they have a very limited menu selection. 4 combos and a kids meal. No chick salad at all. And if you want to buy something stuff individually you can, but not the chicken unless you buy it one strip at a time. Why can't you buy a 3, 4, or 6 piece set of chicken. So it was either buy 4 individual pieces of chicken to try it all or get a drink too, and I hate teas and sodas at fast food places. All of that nasty high fructose corn syrup. Heck, I don't do sodas anymore at all with the rare exception of ones that still use raw cane sugar. I cannot fathom how they ever did well enough to ever open up more than one location. Got Raising Canes for dinner and placed an online order for a short 15 minutes. There was a line all the way down the street and a police officer basically acting like a bouncer at a club. I was expecting my order to not actually be ready in the 15 minutes since I know this just opened but it was ready when I got there. The staff was very nice in the short interaction I had. The place is Pitt themed and really nice inside. Was surprised by how clean it was inside with the chaos happing inside. Now the food... it's raising canes it's amazing. From the chicken to the worlds best toast. Everything was great. My only issue is the one tender was soggy on the bottom but I didn't care. I'm an Old school Raising Canes fan from down south. I was SO excited to hear a location opened in Pittsburgh. The food here is great but the rest sucks. Bunch of employees standing around doing nothing. No one answers the phone. The music is 10x too loud. I had to shout for the cashiers to hear me. And the best part is how long is takes to get your food. The place is huge and there might have been 5 patrons in the entire restaurant while I was there but it still took over TWENTY minutes to get a single Box combo. Laughable. Raising Cane is good, but I had quite a few issues. First of all, the crinkle cut fries I remember from my youth, were thicker and soft inside and crunchy on the outside. I found a cane sauce to be innocuous and didn't really even understand the flavor. What was that? The lemonade was very average. This review is about the North Versailles location. 5 brown girls were standing in a mob at the front counter. One of which I could hear gossiping about a coworker. There were workers in the lobby just loafing and walking back and forth. No one seemed to have a purpose or a specific job to do. I placed my order and waited 15 minutes for my food. Why was there no food ready? There is only 1 thing on the menu "chicken". At least 6 other parties were waiting for their food as well. A customer came in, walked near the front counter, and waited for someone to address him, (which they never did because they were too busy talking amongst themselves). He turned around and left. The food was hot. I recall seeing one of the cooks with a salt shaker in his hand seeming to add salt to food, however, none of it hit my food. The chick was bland. No seasoning whatsoever. It comes with 6 fresh n' fried to perfection crispy CHKN tenders, crinkle-cut fries w/ a tasty light-salt seasoning, two signature; addicting & finger lick'n good Cane's sauces, some Texas toast, coleslaw & a large fountain drink.
