Mixed shawarma plate with fries, salad, hummus, garlic and pita all for $13.99
    Rahim H.

You know that feeling you get when you finally find the restaurant you've been waiting for for years and years and years? I had that feeling today.. This restaurant is located inside a grocery store and to be honest with you, I wouldn't have known about it had I not seen it on blogTO. First Impressions, it's your run of the mill, hole in the wall restaurants, so I had high expectations that the food will be delicious and I was not disappointed! The Quality of the meat was excellent and the portions are very generous! I ordered the Mixed Plate with fries, which also comes with salad, hummus, garlic, and 1 pita. The meat was tender and delicious and the fries were the perfect level of crisp and with what tasted like a hint of lemon Overall, I would highly recommend checking this place out! Don't be deterred by the somewhat confusing ordering process, and the location- it's well worth it!!! I'll definitely be back!! Strong 5/5 with 2 sandwiches to go

Decided to give this place a second tried, order the mix shawarma plate. Again, the meat was dry and somewhat tasteless and the rice was nothing special. The food is also not that warm and by the time I go home, it was cold. Go to Sumaq close by, their meat isn't dry and food is still warm by the time I get home.

I came to Toronto with several goals-one of which was to get a fabulous, authentic, smothered in garlic sauce shawarma. Ghadir was recommended to me as the place to get it and it was great! If you're going to go, get the sandwich. I tend to not bother with rice in my shawarma. I opted for the chicken shawarma, get the spicy garlic and both pickles-it's necessary. If you really want, add fries to your wrap. But at the end, sit down and enjoy your delectable sandwich. It's really inexpensive and freshly made.

Ghadir Meat has been on my list of food to try for a while, and after hearing about it on the radio recently, I decided to make the trek. We came for lunch on a Sunday. The interior was way bigger than I expected. There was lots of seating in the main area where the cashier, hot food counter, grocery and butcher are. In additional, there's an annex part of the restaurant where there are additional seats and the washrooms. Between the two of us, we ordered the hummus with chicken and the tawook (grilled chicken) plate, both orders came with pitas. The portions were very generous! We couldn't finish the hummus and packed the leftovers home. I would totally make the trek out here again just to order the beautifully plated hummus with chicken again! The hummus was very smooth and light. The chicken shawarama was well seasoned and not dry. It was just very satisfying when I bit into the fully stuffed pieces of torned pita. The tawook and rice was good, but not very memorable. However, the garlic sauce was creamy and potent!

Went to Ghadir Meat Market one night after volleyball, as something new to try located nice and close, and wasn't let down at all. There was four us eating and we decided to get the Ghadir Mix that was $44.25. The Ghadir Mix consisted of: 12 Skewers (2 Kafta, 2 Beef, 2 Sujok, 2 Tawook, 2 Chicken Kafta & 2 Mergez) served rice, hummus, garlic dip, grilled onion and tomato, mixed pickles & 3 grilled pita plus the pita that's underneath all the meat. Everything is made fresh to order so we did have to wait a bit, but the wait was so worth it!! It all tasted so good!!! The meat seasoning was perfect and none of it was over cooked or dry. I normally don't like hummus but their hummus was so creamy and smooth and fresh tasting I dipped lots of pita in it. Their garlic dip was TO DIE FOR!!!! I wished we each had our own because that's how much I loved it!!! It's a perfect dip for all the meats or even spreading some on your rice or just straight up eating it with a spoon lol The Ghadir Mix was more than enough food for all four of us and split four ways it was even better!!

My husband and I discovered this place about a year ago and it's one of our favourites. I think it has the best shawarma in the city, and we recently took my dad there, who confirmed our opinion. He has travelled all over the Middle East, and he enjoyed his beef shawarma very much. I usually get the chicken and I love it. It is not the cheapest shawarma on Lawrence East but it is definitely of the highest quality, imo. Ghadir is a cross between a grocery store, butcher shop, and grill. Other than the shawarma, we also enjoy: - the sheesh tawook - the whole chicken (it is spatchcocked and grilled) - their sausages (from the butcher shop. so versatile - on pizza, in pasta, with peppers and sourdough bread) - their lamb chops (from the butcher shop. we bought the pre marinated ones, and bbq-ed them at home) They've also opened a Ghadir fish restaurant next door (I don't see a yelp listing for it yet). I recently went and we got the jumbo shrimp platter and the grilled sea bream. The shrimp come with a choice of three sides. The fish is sold by the pound and it was perfectly grilled and seasoned. Highly recommend.

We found out about Ghadir Fish Restaurant on TO blog and after seeing some pictures of those beautiful grilled fish we thought we have to give it try. It is not a fancy place but fancy is not what you'd go to such a place. You go for good food and good price and that's what you get. The food was amazing! You can order different types of fish that they sell by pound and choose how you like it to be cooked, be it fried or grilled (charcoal grill). They offer sides like fries, rice, veggies, tabule and so on. We tried several fish and sides and everything was fantastic. The prices are very reasonable with fish starting from about $4 to $12 per lbs depending on the type of fish. The service was a bit slow and it took a while until we got our food. But again everything is secondary to me if the food and price are good :) Also the parking can be hard to find as they seem to be very busy. Food: 5/5 Price:5/5 Service and atmosphere: 3.5/5 Overall: 4.5/5

I want fish but my boyfriend wants shawarma! Now what will we do? Same owner but 2 different restaurants in the same building. So we decided to try their new fish restaurant. They have a display of fresh raw fish with ice. Take out or dine in. It's a busy restaurant. Staff are friendly. The 3 side dishes are great and delicious. I loved the vegetables. Good portions and yummy fish.

I heard of Ghadir from listening to Suresh Doss's weekly Thursday food report on CBC's Metro Morning*, which honestly is a great source of learning about interesting places and hidden multicultural gems all over the GTA, and much more open-minded and insightful than, say, the empty and airheaded hype machine "reviews" from BlogTO. If you are into hearing about the people and stories behind the businesses and digesting more the context of the business--like how Ghadir grew into a community and makes efforts to hire Syrian immigrants/refugees that could use the opportunity--then consuming Doss' weekly column is definitely worthwhile. Anyways, Ghadir at first appearance may seem like just another Lebanese place in a sea of Middle Eastern and Indian strip plaza food establishments along this segment of Lawrence East. (Wexford, Scarborough is quickly becoming a booming yet overlooked hotspot for such cuisine in Toronto) It began as a mere halal butchery across the street, but now at the NE corner of Lawrence and Pharmacy, they expanded to include a grocery store of imported goods, and a quick-serve restaurant/takeout joint. There is a separate dining room and a tiny patio area by the parking lot. If you are here to eat, order and pay at the cashier first before heading to the food counter. The Lebanese style shawarma comes highly rated (heck, to BlogTO's credit they consider it one of the best in the city). From what I seen with their other meals, you get quite a lot for the price; heck the shawarma wraps themselves are big. The chicken shawarma I had was pleasant with nicely cooked, flavourful meat, a decent dosage of stuffing, and that garlic sauce. It's quite a community scene in here, as scores of regulars are here eating and socializing together. You practically feel like you're in Beirut, rather than Scarborough. {TTC: 54 or 67 bus to Lawrence and Pharmacy Aves} [* see: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/suresh-doss-metro-morning-2-1.4298834]

    Cheese zatar manakeesh

Oh my goodnesss! Not sure how I have lived here for years and missed checking out this place. Stopped by for a quick bite on my sisters recommendation- we got beef shawarma with the madrouk bread and cheese zatar manakeesh. I regret not getting more food to try out! The beef shawarma was hit the spot!!! So delish! Parking is very hard and congested. Make sure to order at the checkout and then get the food at the counter based on order numbers.

For a little place like this, I'm certainly impressed with the service I've received. I've been here three times now. Every person I've spoken to who works here is incredibly friendly and super helpful. I will second Anna V's comment about their beef shawarma. It is the beefiest tasting shawarma I've ever had. Ali (one of the owners, I believe) informed me that they do their shawarma the way they do it back at home, where they don't stuff the sandwich full of veggies and other things. Instead, they let the flavor of the meat shine through. That being said, if you want veggies in your shawarma, they'll do it for you as well. I'm fine with my veggies being on the side. This was good the way it was. The other day when I came, I ordered one of of their Ghadir plates, which includes 2 shawarma sandwiches, fries or rice, mixed pickles, and salad for $14.99. I also ordered their beef kafta plate ($10.99), which includes 2 skewers of kafta, rice or fries, salad, mixed pickles, hummus, garlic sauce, and pita. This was intended to feed 3 people. We ended up having about a third of it left. Part of this was because I was asked if I wanted rice or fries, and I said both. I was assuming that my kafta plate would have one, and my Ghadir plate would have the other. When I opened my 3 takeout boxes, I discovered that my kafta plate had rice, one box of my Ghadir plate had fries, and the other box of my Ghadir plate had both fries and rice. Huh. Their rice looks like it's curry flavored. It's good, but I prefer the fries, especially because of their hummus and their garlic sauce. Both are delicious. Fries in hummus and garlic sauce. Mmmm. Just bring breath mints. The kafta was tender and seasoned quite nicely. They have BBQ platters intended for families to share. Next time, I'm getting one of those. They've got things like 10 kafta skewers, hummus, pickles, and and pitas for $29.99. They've also got a whole BBQ chicken with garlic sauce, pickles, and pita for $14.99. For an additional $5, they'll add 3 cans of pop and a choice of large rice or fries to that BBQ chicken meal. I sound like I'm advertising. I'm not. I'm just excited to eat here again.

One of my favourite spots for #mediterraneanfood. You know, even though a good customer service cant add any taste to the food, it can however keep the customers loyal. Here, the food is outstanding and so is the customer service. They're so generous in terms or portions or when you ask for extra #garlic sauce etc. They're garlic sauce is to die for.

My haul consisted of their Sultan with Green Rice, Koobideh kabobs, Joojeh kabobs, ample heaps of polow rice and delicious Ghormeh Sabzi - considered the national dish of Iran dating back 5000 years. It elicits debates among chefs as to which herbs (tareh, parsley, scallion, cilantro, shanbalileh, etc.) and beans to include or exclude. Debates aside, it sure was tasty! Couldn't find a menu in store, either the prices really fluctuate daily on dishes or they make up random pricing. The jury is out in that one! We have tried a few places in and around Markham that sell Wagyu, but non of them blew us away. I decided to do a random search for Japanese Butchers and Wagyu and came across FãMu Inc. which is listed as "The only Japanese Butcher in Ontario". FãMu is the Japanese pronunciation of farm. They are all about animals that are pasture or free-run, raised without chemicals, antibiotics, hormones or animal bi-products. Located in J Town, an indoor/outdoor mall of Japanese businesses located On Steeles Avenue E near Woodbine in Markham. (LOVED the shops at J Town!!). We have had several great experiences with this shop since our first visit 9 months ago. Everyone in shop is very helpful and knowledgeable about all of the cuts they sell. Our first try of FãMu we purchased the A5 Wagyu Miyazaki Striploin. BBQ'd on the grill for 2 min on each side (as per the butchers recommendation), the cuts were bbq'd to perfection and just melted in our mouths. I have never eaten a steak anywhere that was so perfectly marbled and so tender. I would say it was easily one of the best steaks I have ever had! The next would be the Australian Wagyu Ribeye we picked up (15oz cuts). A little on the pricey side, but WOW, you get what you pay for and no better way to indulge in a perfect steak bbq. Some of the cuts of Japanese Wagyu they sell are: Kobe - A5 Kuromame Nagi - A5 Furano - A5 Miyazaki (Miyazakigyu)- A5 Hokkaido (Tokachi) - A5 Various Regions Of Japan - A4 Plus ~ Australian Wagyu, US Wagyu, Chicken, Berkshire Pork, Wagyu burgers and Wagyu slices for Sukiyaki Hot Pots and more! During 2 of our recent visits we also tried their Double Wagyu Beef Bowl. Thinly sliced pieces of Wagyu seasoned with in store made terriyaki/soy sauce over a bed of steamed rice. Small portion for the cost, but filling and THE most tender beef bowl you will ever try! Not sure about which cut to try, visit their website and you can get detailed info on each cut, you can also stop in and ask or order online. In shop everyone is very warm, friendly and happy to help if you have any questions.
