I am so glad that I found Dr.Ghaly. I spent 15plus years using assistive devices to walk and having spinal injections and taking pain medication. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Ghaly. Recently, I had my last follow up appointment after my spine surgery and I feel better than ever! After a two week into my recovery, I was able to return to my regular house tasks. Now, I have fully recovered and am fully mobile with no pain. This man is the most ethical, compassionate, caring doctor that I know! Anyone who says otherwise has some serious "trust" issues. What this man has done for my daughter... She was going through intermittent pain on the top of her head. The pain would be so piercing at times that she was having a hard time completing any kind of physical activity such as running or lifting. This went on for a few years with doctors just telling her it was a migraine and telling her to take over-the-counter pain killers. Eventually, it got to the point that she could hardly sleep at night due to the pain. This is when I decided to do some research for a neurosurgeon. I finally found a neurosurgeon that appeared well established with years of experience and outstanding reviews. We sent an online request for an appointment with a brief description of what was going on with her. It was evening and we did not expect to hear back for at least a few days since we know how busy doctors can get. Within the hour the doctor had called from his cell phone! He set up an appointment for her and told her that she could call back with any questions at any time. How many doctors even give you that option? It turned out to be a neuroma which he surgically removed. She is now pain-free. I am extremely impressed with how compassionate of a doctor he is. I have worked in health care in the past and one of the things we are taught is to treat patients with TLC (Tender Loving Care). The office is filthy and has not been cleaned for a very long time. The walls from the floor to ceiling are plastered with print out of Facebook comments as a self-absorbed monument to himself. Saw him for my condition, and felt that I was trying to be immediately rushed into surgery. Ghaly had difficulty getting other specialty providers agree that his recommended course of action was the best approach. He frequently got angry and cursed every medical provider that did not agree with him. Finally decided to go with the surgery with previous promises from Ghaly that the surgery would solve all my problems. At the point of signatures for the surgery, Ghaly suddenly said that I would be disabled all my life and would need a nurse to keep watch over me, and to have a portable toilet by my bed. Needless to say, I left and never looked back at this quack. read more

Dr. Ghaly saved my mother's life. She passed out the day before Thanksgiving of 2003. I was five months pregnant and terrified. She had symptoms for three years. Blackouts, dizziness, un-able to move suddenly, could not walk, her blood-pressure became uncontrollable and finally she experienced sudden incontinence. All her symptoms were random and had no pattern that we could determine. She had a wonderful doctor who sent her to specialists based on her symptoms. As I found out from a friend who works for a hospital billing service Hospitals often have doctors contractually obligaged to reccommend specalists associated with their network. A doctor could be penalized, fired or sued for reccomending a specialist associated with another hospital. So we went to Edward Hospital for tests, MRI's and countless emergency room visits. My mom passed out insisted on going to Edward because her doctor had privlidges and the paramedics put her in our car and I drove her to their ER. After making us wait forever they told me she needed to see a therapist because it was all in her head. When I told them she passed out they said if she had really passed out she would have come by ambulance. So we were sent home with the name of a therapist. Two days later my mom passed out and was taken to Copley. I first spoke with Dr. Raj Arora and gave him a description of her symptoms. I fully expected to be patronized after my experience at the Edward ER. He looked me in the eye and said " I believe you and know there is really something wrong" -- I started to cry. He assured me that they would do some tests and try to find out what was wrong. He asked Dr. Ghaly to evaluate my mom. Dr. Ghaly looked at her symptoms tried to get her medical records. When he had some trouble he got the nurse to tell me what to take to Edward to get them released. I got records from her doctor and the hospital. He thought it might be hydrosephylis and did a lumbar puncture they got no spinal fluid. So they did an MRI of her cervical spine and found a tumor the size of a thumb compressing her spinal cord to the size of a fingernail. He then asked me to get the films of the Edward MRI done 6 -12 months earlier (they sent it on a computer disk and he was not able read it) I went and got the films and he saw it clear as day and smaller than it was on the MRI done at Copley. He operated and removed her tumor two days later. My mom got excellent care. The nurses were amazing, Dr. Ghaly saw my mom and over saw her care with the nurses, physical therapy and her transition home after surgery. He called us at home to check on us and took a strong interest in her recovery. The rehab doctor took vacation when my mom was in the hospital and the new staff did not teach her how to get dressed. Mom told Dr. Ghaly that I was dressing her every morning. He called the doctor over the rehab program and let him know that I was dressing and helping my mom get around. He let them know that was not safe for me because I was 8 months pregnant. As a result the Rehab doctor evaluated my mom himself and they transported my mom to their day program until she could get dressed, get around, get into a car and do the basic things she needed. Dr. Ghaly took his patients care personally and seriously and made sure we had everything we needed for my mom to recover. I have been to 24 different doctors, all of them said there was nothing they could do to alleviate the egregious pain in my arm. Dr. Ghaly was the only that looked at all of the MRI / Xray images I had and quickly diagnosed the issue as a nerve avulsion in my spine. There was nothing surgical that could be done however he was able to give me injections that took my chronic pain from around an eight to a three. He was the only one that was able to identify and mitigate the issue. He gave me my life back for 3 years I was suffering from chronic pain that never let up and if my arm was touched or bumped it was like getting hit with hammer on the funny bone. Dr. Ghaly a Neurosurgeon and anesthesiologist was able to see the issue in holistic way versus a single specialist. He also has a deep care for his patients. I can text him personally and call his cell phone. I don't know any Doctor or Surgeon who would do that. He is truly a humble, genius. He has the highest standards for care and unheard of error rate. I refer to him as the Dr of last resorts he is the one that can help after you have been told, they don't understand the issue, or its just in your head, or do some Yoga for the pain. I have referred four people and all of them had a serious an issue and all of them are thankful for the work he did. read more

This dr was recommended to me by a friend. I told him I was there as a second opinion. He was very nice at first. Part way through the exam I told him I have been taking pain medication. I also told him I believe my pain was caused by the work I do. His kind attitude flipped on a dime. He claimed I am addicted to drugs. He told me I need to deal with it and get back to work! He then proceeded to ask my husband how much money had been spent on my medical care. I don't want to be in pain anymore. The only reason I saw him was because a friend who really cares about me was persistent I see him for a second opinion. I have worked hard all my life. Being off work is tearing me up. It is hard to put into words how much Dr Ghaly has done for me. He gave me my life back! He is the most intelligent, informed, caring, doctor I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and be treated by. Spinal Stenosis and severe arthritis in my neck and lower back was crippling me to the point where I could not do the things I love. Extrermely unprofessional. I have a herniated disc in my back. The person whom did my scans proceeded to tell me exactly what was read on them. Which is not considered a "wet scan", but a full definition of what he read. Furthermore, he also decided that my referring doctor was "not good enough" in his standards and thought he should tell me that my problem required a different specialist. This resulting in the scan technician referring me to a neurosurgeon. Who told me that surgery was my only option. Also, that I could lose all bladder and bowel control if I didn't do surgery. While I was filling out paperwork in the "neurosurgeons" office, I saw the "doctor" and the scan technician whom I was referred by, communicating. It was a completely shady situation. They are scamming people. My actual Ortho Spine Surgeon, whom I saw less than 24hours after all of this, assured me that Fox Valley Imaging and Ghaly were unethical in their proceedings. I do not need surgery nor are any of my nerves in jeopardy. I will never refer anyone to these places and plan to seek further consult on this situation. read more
