I thought it was turning into an ear infection or sinus infection so I had to find an urgent care ASAP since it happened to be January 2nd and everything was closed in observance of New Year's Day. I called to confirm this place was an urgent care and that they were open. The woman was polite on the phone and told me they were open and they weren't busy at all at the moment. So I zipped over and she was right, no one was in the waiting room. Just me myself and I. They work on a walk-in basis FYI. I was seen within 2-3 minutes of checking in. The doctor came to my exam room within a couple minutes of my vitals and info being taken. Dr. Hornung was who saw me and he was professional and nice. I was in and out of here in 20 minutes but they didn't rush me at all. It was spectacular service for someone who had no energy from being sick. This place is located at the corner of Eola/New York St. They are right next to Paulie's Bar & Grill and there is a subway right there too. The whole office and waiting area was super clean and tidy. The assistant said, "I think she's on a call. I don't know what she's doing." I walked out into the hallway and made eye contact with the doctor standing in the hallway laughing and chatting about her weekend on the phone. When the doctor came in she said, "sorry, I had a meeting." First time I've ever seen a doctor take a phone call "meeting" about weekend plans while staring at a sick patient. Avoid this place.

But geez, some of the staff may need a refresher in customer service skills. I called the other day (to see whether I should go to the hospital for an issue, and if so to get a referral for it). Explained my situation to a nurse who said, "Well, if you're really dying you can go to the hospital" in a rather accusatory tone. (Really, that's the way you talk to a patient in pain?) When I explained a few more things she said, "Oh, that's even worse." (Gosh, that's not a scary thing to hear or anything.) At the end of the conversation when I said "Thank you" she just hung up. :/ So I've had good experiences with the doctors here, but at least one nurse could spruce up her bedside manner. :(

There's a big giant open check in desk and waiting room. The check-in has a bunch of ladies sitting at a desk all wide open. One lady was telling a patient you need to make payment, it's asking for you to pay. It's in collection-loud enough for all to hear! Everyone can hear everything the receptionists are saying. It's terrible. Why don't they have dividers at a desk where you can sit down and talk privately to the receptionist instead of a big open room where you can hear everything? I think you could probably be having a heart attack and nobody would do anything. I'm going to have to find a new practice. Small one, not this corporate type healthcare.

Then she asked me what my problem was told her I had problems with anxiety, but this was not anxiety because I was seeing an d for abnormal test results, at that point the person that brought me in was trying to explain to her what was going on, and ignored her and started talking to the other and didn't even pay attention to what was said. they took me back to the waiting room, and I waited for 5 hours. when I asked how long it would be, she said it would be 6 1/2 hours more. There was some people there, but there were them that like they were just falling asleep. In the meantime I'm over here having tremors and wondering what the heck is going on with me once the subsided I decided to leave I wasn't gonna wait 6 1/2 hours. Nurses were not paying attention people that were there. People were sitting there for hours and hours on end people were leaving because they were upset. This is the worst place ever for ER. I do love their. Department but the ER sucks.
