We went about a week ago for the first time. It was rustic, and what I expected from a traditional camp ground. I know there are super luxury resort R.V. parks out there, but I grew up going mostly to state and regional parks tent camping. We just bought a new Travel trailer, so first time not tent camping, we go about 3 or 4 times a year tent camping. It was on par with the campgrounds we go to in the Tahoe area, but with a few extras like the heated pool, and the kid"s clubhouse. My 9 year old daughter loved that place, making all kinds of arts and crafts with the art teacher on staff. Also, she recently got into fishing so the pond was a nice extra. We used this place as a base camp for our usual Tahoe activities, and spent a day at our favorite Baldwin Beach. It was nice to take a free hot shower instead of tokens at the state parks. Like I said, didn't seem much different than what we are used to, so no complaints. We enjoyed the affordable food options at the ghost town, especially after getting back from Tahoe, and not feeling like cooking. As we continue our new R.V. life, I'm sure we will get to see the more upscale places, but this place was fine for our current needs. Reminded me of my Science Camp days in school. We decided to check this place out and go camping for the weekend. I love the drive up to Pollock Pines. I was not really impressed with the property. I felt that it was really run down. Although they do have a small ghost town, ice shop and food you can enjoy. They also have horses you can ride, I believe some sort of kids club and a pool. The bathrooms looked like they needed a little updating. In my opinion the property needed to have a little up dated. They also have a few cabins, tent camping and RV camping. The Ghost Ranch also does a presentation to buy into their "" timeshare. We however did not p purchase it. The staff is amazing as we pulled up April was happy to help us with what ever we needed. Brain did an amazing job talk to us about the presentation for the time share but it was just not for us. If you have kids this maybe a place to check out. It just wasn't a place for us. read more

Clubhouse had a bar with no liquor or beer. it was being used for storage space. 6. could not pick up local over the air channels 7. campground was not the cleanest and seemed old. Nothing like what is shown on the website Conclusion: If we paid for this weekend stay, i would have been highly upset. Dont let the website video's and photo's fool you. I would never pay to come to this place. Glad we got it free from our purshase of a new RV. Stay for the presentation and collect the $200. Brian was okay to listen to about the CR membership perks. $10k is not worth it for us as we are only weekend campers. Do your homework before booking. I'll start off by saying my husband and I are members and we absolutely LOVE to camp. This is both a review of Ghost Mountain Ranch AND the cabin that we recently stayed in. We've been to this specific CRA location quite a few times and each time we have a blast. I will start off by saying the location is the best part. What made us become members was the overall location and beauty to this place! We fell in love instantly with the huge redwood trees, walking trails and the fact we can explore and adventure with our dogs. (Which I may mention, they do have a leash rule, but there is a dog park with amenities for them to run around and play/ potty/ drink at. We keep to ourselves and own a trailer so we don't usually use/have a need for the cabins or other amenities, but it is nice to have the option for when we bring family. There is unfortunately a few things I'd like to gripe about- 1. Trying to get ahold of this campground is a nightmare, I have called on multiple occasions for small questions and can never get an employee. Although we've never personally had an issue with staff here, we have seen on multiple occasions staff rolling eyes to guests and not having the friendliest attitude. I will say- if my husband and I weren't on board with their selling pitch I could see where they would start to get pushy as mentioned in some other reviews... I think better selling tactics should be practiced and make guests feel they're not $$$ and actually feel appreciated for more than just a paycheck. Moving forward; the Ghost Town is super cool, but wish it had more to do besides the saloon... OH! They only accept cash for the café and ice cream parlor and if you have to use your card they will make you go to the front to pay at the register which can be frustrating if you do not know this ahead of time. I will mention the staff at the café are understaffed. The lady who takes orders and does the serving on occasion seems constantly frazzled and I have witnessed her and the cook bickering on multiple occasions. (Yikes!). Back to the cabins- recently I stayed in one for the weekend and let me tell you... finding information on ANY of the cabins was impossible. I couldn't find anything I even YouTubed to see if anyone had posted videos on them. When I called to reserve I got 'well it sleeps 4 but you can fit 6'. Most of these cabins are outdated and need a rehab inside and out. (It is a tad funny the one they show you for your walkthrough to be a potential buyer for the timeshare is completely redone.) The one cabin we stayed in on the other hand, was quite disappointing. (For as much as members pay to be timeshare holders, it's sad that the amenities don't reflect it) **Here is some info regarding (Cabin #1) 1. Outdated but will do for those that are not picky and just need a place to stay in. 2. There is a main bedroom with a door to close off from the rest of the cabin. In main hall there are twin bunks (with a thin plastic mattress if you could even call it that) as well as futon that folds out I would recommend a shorter adult or child to sleep here if possible. 3. BRING TOWELS FOR SHOWERING AND BEDDING FOR BEDS/ FUTON. 4. There ARE some utensils to use such as; glassware, some coffee cups, bowls and silverware. There is a fridge, microwave and a toaster. 5. Although they say the cabins are a certain amount of $$ a night - bring extra they tax the rate! There were two doors to our cabin, one that led from the bedroom and one that was from the living room which was a slider. We only chose to use the slider because the other door was completely broken maybe an animal tried to get in, but it's definitely broken and needs to be replaced. Hinges were basically off when opening (I didn't get pictures of it while it was opened because I panicked thinking we wouldn't have a door all weekend.) We originally and had to prop it back into place and pull hard to lock door. I wasn't very happy considering we had our belongings in there and you can never be sure anywhere you go. read more

I purchased an RV from La mesa RV and with that they included a free stay with CRA (Colorado River Adventures). I selected Ghost Mountain Ranch from the available list of locations. I was told there would be gifts for going there the first time. I attended a sales pitch for what is sort of like a time share. I didn't realize what this was until I sat across from the salesperson (Brian). They wanted me to pay 10K+ for a lifetime membership to the CRA resorts and other resorts. The salesperson (Brian) was an old rock and roll band player and little odd, but okay at the time. We thanked him and told him no thanks for the membership, just not for us right now. Just for coming they gave us a $200 check and a 1 year "trial membership" for free to come back to this resort. We were unimpressed with the resort. The buildings were older; there was no sewer just fresh water and 30-amp service. The laundry mat that they touted had 5 older machine all with warnings on them that parts were on order, be careful with how you insert your money. I wonder how long those signs had been up... Due to the time of year, not a lot of people there. The biggest and scariest issue is that CRA touts having 24x7 secure facilities. This could not have been further from the truth. Someone pulled into the space across from us in the dark at 8:00 at night (there was no guards at the gate and the gate appears to always be open after hours). These people left their headlights on and shined flashlights, both directly into our RV for an hour while they fumbled with unhooking their RV. When I asked them to be polite and turn off the lights, they got belligerent and yelled and screamed. So, I'm thinking 24x7 security let's make some calls. multiple calls to the afterhours number with no answer and no opportunity to leave a number. Multiple calls to the Front gate, no answer as I suspected as they were gone by 5:00. I left a message with their sales office asking for help - never got a call back even the next day. Then I remembered i had the business card for Brian - the salesperson that tried to sell us the membership. I left a voice mail on his cell phone that he never returned. I then texted him explaining the situation and stating we needed someone out there because I was worried what these new neighbors might do given their complete lack of campground etiquette and the way they had spoken to me, and that they had come in after hours. He ignored what I wrote and said call the afterhours number even though I had already texted that I had tried that multiple times and nobody answers. His next solution was to call 911. I texted - Really - you are selling a 10K membership, are supposed to have 24x7 security and your solution is to call 911. The texts devolved from there - but this was the last text from Brian - the Ghost Mountain Ranch sales representative and representative of Colorado River Adventures (misspellings are intentional as this is an exact quote of his text). "We're glad you didn't buy... It's a members only and you are just mad because you are overqualified... and know everything.. So your aq mooch and we paid for your free stay and gave you $200 and you complain". Needless to say, we packed up and left very early in the morning. Folks - I rest my case. Don't go here, they don't care about you at all. I would never go to any CRA facility that keeps someone like this on staff and touts 24x7 security when they don't have it. So far - no apology whatsoever from Ghost Mountain Ranch or CRA. Shameful. read more

Had a nice little getaway. One tip I can give you is bring cash they have great food and ice cream for purchase you can use your debit card but you have to walk back to front gate. We just returned from a 4-day, 3-night stay, and unfortunately, this was one of the worst camping experiences we've had. From the start, the employees were extremely rude and unwelcoming, which set a negative tone for the trip. The sales representative, Val, was especially pushy. When my husband and I politely declined her offer (an extra $180 charge we did not want to add to our budget), she began mocking us and even made degrading comments about me being a stay-at-home mom.. She then began asking us and basically making fun of us asking if adding another $180 to our bills is really that big of a deal and that big of a bill. It was absolutely disgusting Her behavior was unprofessional and incredibly insulting. Unfortunately, staff did nothing to improve the situation. Spent a couple of days at Ghost Mountain Ranch.......a little nerve racking driving in on a narrow road pulling a 30 ft Travel Trailer!! Staff was very accommodating and everyone was very friendly.Theres a nice size swimming pool, a small pond with some bass that are stocked( catch and release).Theres is the old Ghost Mountain movie set with a saloon, ice cream parlor and cafe.......food was great and very reasonably priced! Some interesting observations.......there is no wi-fi, there is no cable T.v., there is weak cell service, there is no hook ups for sewer.( there is wi-fi in the saloon at the Ghost Mountain Saloon and they do have a dump site for waste) read more

My family and I came here on a gifted trip. We bought our trailer and received a paid for trip to ghost mountain ranch by CRA. We were told we don't have to join. If we liked it then it's up to us. We got excited. We got a call from CRA to set up our stay. Over the phone we were told the sights have sewer, 50 amp electrical and water. We arrived to our sight and checked in about 630 in the evening. It was a Thursday. The guy at the check in booth had an attitude. seemed like an inconvenience for us to be there. He gave us a map and activity sheet and a card that had a 9 am apt to talk with the sales office about joining their membership. We got to our sight only to find that there was no 50 amp plug and no sewer hook up. We went back to the front and asked if they had a small shop to buy a 30 amp adapter. The same grumpy guy then asked what that was. I told him it was to plug our trailer in. He told us they used to loan them out but no longer do. go To home depo or true Value. home depo had it so that saved us. The next morning we went to our meeting. They told us all about their camp ground and how they have never been bankrupt. they where extremely pushy. they told us there is no obligation to join. When they where done they said they could step out so we could talk about it. Mind you we haven't even had a chance to see the camp ground and look around. They told us we have to sign that day or we would lose the deal. we wanted to talk about it in private. they finally agreed to let us go back to our trailer and talk about it. With the pressure they put on us we signed the contract. They we super happy. We finally got to go see the park. later that day my wife and I realized. The camping stuff we like to do, boating fishing, other stuff, the place doesn't offer. we also thought about most of the people that are members are full time rv'ers Or retired and can be their more than a few times a year. Their is a section in the contract that states you have 3 days to change your mind. Our 2nd morning we went back to the office and told them we changed our mind. The manager got mad. Told me to sit down at his desk. Pulled out the papers and had me sign the cancellation line. while he was going through the papers he said with attitude "great this will be our first cancelation in 4 months" "it's fine though we will have more people coming in" "this is ridiculous." He then with an attitude said. "so what now you guys aren't going to use your trailer? Now where are you going to go? Just going to park it and Never use it?" I told him no we will go to other paces that don't require a member ship." he got up from his desk and stormed off. As he was walking away. He said "from an old guy to a young guy, you are making a big mistake." I said ok where is the door. With more attitude he pointed and said "that way" the management and the staff act like 3 year olds when they don't get what they want. Since we had a paid for trip we had a couple more days to spend there. That night being our 2nd night. We got dinner at the restaurant on sight. One of the office staff and her husband sat at the table next to us. They looked at Us and began talking loudly to each other about how much they love their member ship. after a while of us ignoring them the husband of the group looked at me and asked if I was a member. he then started trying to dig and find out more about us After i told him we where just checking it out. we ate and went to our trailer. through out the rest of our stay. The staff went from welcoming to treating us horribly. For how much they want for people to join they don't have much to offer. Save your money. read more

The restroom and shower area needs some work, door was off its hinge put it back on and it looks like somebody tried taking the showerheads off. Had to put the showerhead back on. Swimming pool was very nice, but the bathrooms were not usable in the women's ended up using the men's. Lots of wasp. read more

Great place to be out in nature ! It's a little run down and some staff members are not so friendly. There are several people here long term that look as tho they aren't up to any good (they look homeless and that stereotype) or 6 people living in a very old camper with dogs and kids screaming. I was just there at campsite #52, what a dump. I was given this information from Rec Van when I bought my travel van. They hound you until you commit to visiting the site. When I went to take a shower there was someone's hair in the walls and it looked like a child went poop in the bottom of the shower. The so called vintage western town looks like it's not safe and not many people were there. It is owned by Good Sam Travel RV and cost from $12,000. to $26,000. just for membership and $600. for dues. read more

Petty thief on the property. Stole our bread, and hamburger buns. Thief came back and stole our water, chocolate bars and marshmellows. Ruined our vacation, we will not be back. We made the staff aware of the problem, they were nit interested. To replentish our supplies we had drive to town and pay double the price. read more

The resort was rustic but clean. Yes, although the roads within the resort are nicely pave , the sites are relatively level with mainly dirt and some gravel. But I expected a mountain camping experience with the whole Wild West feel. The restrooms were clean. The staff was friendly. We had great weather and enjoyed walking around the resort. The dog park was clean, but not ideal. My spoiled dog likes grass over gravel. The pond and fountain was nice and lit up at night. The heated pool and surrounding area was very well maintained. Some reviews I read prior to our visit worried me, but I was pleasantly surprised with the friendly staff and the overall cleanliness. I'm looking forward to our next trip to Ghost Mountain. read more

Pretty clean RV park. The maintenance workers were always riding around in their golf carts. We had site 55 and 54 which were perfect, easy in and out. They have a cool little western town that they use for an ice cream shop and a restaurant. There is a small pond with small bass. Downsides Only 30 amp and water hookups, no sewer. They do have three days a week pump out service. There is only one dump station which can cause a back up when everyone is leaving. The road in is a skinny road with small turnouts, not ideal for RVs going in and out. I gave it a 3 star but I would still come back for a weekend trip. read more

We have been members for 7 years. Most of our experiences here have been great. The previous managers were absolutely wonderful. The new management is very unpleasant and not personable at all. They are rude and argumentative. They have closed or limited all amenities and refuse to heat the pool leaving it at 62 degrees and this week we're here and we've had temps in the high 70's low 80's. When concerns are brought to management attention they say they can't do anything because it has to come from corporate but I've also complained to corporate myself and I'm being told that they will address management. And NOTHING happens. Rich the manager constantly brags about a disc golf course he built as an amenity however you have to BUY discs to play at $10 each! I bought into this place so that I could utilize the parks included amenities, this doesn't seem right? They refuse to heat the pool, the arcade is gutted. The critter club used to be open W-S 9-4 per our contract and now operates Fri and Saturday 9:30-3:30. Hopefully CRA will take into consideration the concerns of members and encourage management to work on their customer service skills. Hopefully next time we come it will be more enjoyable. read more

Don't buy into this place!!! I booked it, after I received nine calls in a row. They are so desperate for members that they totally mislead you. When we checked in, we inquired about horse back riding and we're told you have to bring your own horse ‍. After speaking with Chuck online, I was excited to see the whole experience ... oh wait, there was NO experience! The staff were extremely, let's say, unfriendly. The ghost town was just that. A ghost town. The cafe was bare, the food was horrible! The grounds are extremely dirty, meaning dusty, so be aware! There are a TON of bees and yellow jackets ... so many that you can't eat outside!!! We checked in and we're so excited didn't read EVERY SINGLE LINE, mainly because of the discussion I had with Chuck. I thought he explained everything. We had just found our sites, backed the trailer in, while trying to make sure the trailer was level, and then our first experience with "Sheriff" white truck happened!!! The corner of the truck was approximately 10 inches off the gravel so he made a point to come over and insist we move immediately! Cut to the chase ... I missed my "sales" pitch, so not only did they call, they came to my campsite. I told the gal we were up late the night before, (at this time, she should have informed me of the severe consequences!!!!!!!!!) I asked if we could either come later that day or the next day. I didn't think much of it and we went about our day. When we returned, they had placed rude, handwritten notes to our trailers. Before you blink an eye, because we had just returned to the campsite, "Sheriff" white truck Ford Ranger drove up and told us that we had broken a "penal" code and we had violated the caretaker ... blah, blah, blah. He threatened to call the authorities and said we had two hours to pack and leave. I told him no problem but he just kept on! I asked him to watch how he was talking because my six yo grandson was standing right next to me. Let me say that the park wasn't even half full ‍. We never saw anyone go into the sales office the entire time we were there. We packed up in about 20 minutes and as we were driving out, they were literally following us in a golf cart. Are you kidding me ?!?!? By far, THE worst experience ever! read more

THERE IS NO REAL HIKING only a path that leads you in a loop in the forest, flat and used for disc golf. Then I got home and my phone started blowing up with unsolicited sales calls from various travel companies. I KNOW they sold my information bc I gave them a special email address that could only be traced back to my paperwork. We were told that we'd won a free year of camping. Of course, we knew that they wanted to sell us a membership. But, as purchasing a membership wasn't completely out of the question for us, we didn't mind. So we went. We drove my van instead of the RV because I read that the roads were narrow and not well maintained. I have a fold down bed in my van so when I use it for camping, I sleep in it and only use my tent for storage. When we arrived, we were told that we would not be allowed to sleep in the van, so we decided to leave without listening to their sales pitch (no hard feelings, but the weather was bad and while it wasn't dark yet, it was getting late.) I entered directions to Sly Park in my map and the directions said to continue forward. On the way to GMR, we were wondering what people do when RVs are traveling in both directions on the narrow road that we had just driven down, so it seemed possible that there was an entrance and exit. However, before I had driven too far, I could see that the directions were just guiding me around a loop so that I could leave the same way I entered. That's when I noticed a truck approaching behind me. I pulled to the side to let it pass. It pulled in front of me and stopped. I naively thought that perhaps the management was coming to try another pitch, make another suggestion, or some other friendly, or decent thing. I usually assume the best from people, so I was surprised by the demeanor of the man who was blocking our path. He very angrily stated that no unregistered campers were allowed in that area. We explained the situation with the directions and told him that we were trying to leave. It's hard for me to describe how hostile he was, but I will say that I would not want to take my family anywhere that they might encounter this person. He continued to block the road so that I had to turn around in the road. At least that part of the road was wider than the rest of it. I really cannot understand why he didn't just ask what we were doing and show us the way out. His rage continues to be beyond my understanding. Some friends said that maybe he thought we were homeless, but my van is only 2 years old, and anyway, I don't think anyone deserves to be treated so rudely. Others suggested that he was hiding something, but people were all around. I really don't understand. My partners' family has a membership at a park by the coast and we really enjoy going there. I guess we'll stick with them. Maybe GMR has nice amenities (I don't know), but nothing could induce me to subject myself or my family and friends to such virulently frightening people. If you choose to visit this park or join, I hope that you are treated with much greater kindness than we were. read more

I won't give any stars.!! candy at the kiosk upon entrance was very rude. She was not helpful and she shouted at one at the customers telling them "you stupid". She also shouted at us saying not to park on the shade and to park near the kiosk instead. The next day the parking manager went to us at the poolside and she was mean and rude , she told me to stop yelling and I was not even yelling at her. She was accusing us of not having a disable parking where it was in our windshield lol.. they should put signs and not assume the customers to know their protocol. I am not even recommending this place . Save your money ! They have poor customer service . I AM NOT COMING BACK EVEN IF ITS FREE.. I won't even be surprise if they close down! We have been CRA members for over 10 years and our first time at Ghost Mountain resort. It has a great family appeal. Very clean showers and laundry. Great snack bar and cafe and fun events. We came at the peak of summer (July ) we were very pleased. They don't have hookups at campsites but they have a mobile pump guy who dumps for you at your site for free as a member! As a so-cal family we were glad we traveled this far to enjoy Ghost Mountain Resort. Wish they had a general store or T-shirt's for their establishment. read more

We had a great time at this resort! We took our travel trailer here for the weekend and the staff was as friendly and helpful as could be. My son immediately caught fish at the fishing pond, and my daughter made quick friends at the pool, where corn dogs and drinks were served for lunch. The Western village was really cool. with breakfast and ice cream served for outside dining. The membership presentation was quick and, while the option to buy wasn't for us, our associate, Deedee was knowledgeable and fun! There was a security presence, so quiet times were adhered to. Overall impression was that Ghost Mountain is a well run, professional outfit in a beautiful setting. read more

Got a free 20 day pass at ghost mountain ranch for purchasing a trailer at camping world. The couple at the entrance with the yellow lab who checked my boyfriend and I in were very nice we were then directed to sales agent Terralyn My boyfriend and I were told before hand that we would get a tour of the grounds and would take about 2-3 hours with some info on other membership packages with no obligation to purchase. When we got to the location sales agent Terralyn went straight into the sales aspect which only lasted about 20 minutes and she was very nice at first. I told Terralyn I wanted to think about it because the additional memberships were about 6 thousand plus dollars and wanted to see how we liked it first however after we left my boyfriend and I realized she didn't tell us anything about ghost mountain ranch or speak of any of the facilities at that location she didn't even give us a map so we could look around. So we went back and asked if we could get a quick tour and she handed me a map and said it's self guided and that there wasn't much to see.. Seems she only cared about the sale and when she didn't get it her whole attitude changed from nice to very rude and unprofessional. Would not recommend this place due to poor customer service from that specific sales agent. read more

My ex-wife wanted to go check this place out. We are still friends, so she asked me to tag along to help with the discussions. Seems like a nice enough place, and the extra info was good too. She was interested because she wanted to park her RV there a few weeks a month, and use other campgrounds other times. Thats all good. Here come the problems. I was clear that I was NOT part of the transaction. That it was for her, and that we don't even live together. I was just there for support. Part of the pitch is that you can gift the membeship to others, and you can add another member too, if you want. So they offered to add me, since she didn't have another adult to add. I WAS VERY CLEAR AND SPECIFIC THAT I DIDN'T WANT TO BE TIED TO THE CREDIT JUST IN CASE SHE COULD NOT PAY. The sales person straight out lied to us. He said he needed my social security number to add me as the second person, but I was not responsible for the obligation. I asked a very specific question: "So to be clear, you are saying that if she can't pay this for some reason, it will not go against my credit report?" His response is the next lie: "It will never go on your credit. If she doesn't pay, we'll just suspend the membership until she can pay it. Heck, I LIVE HERE. I don't want our members and neighbors mad at me." She agrees to buy thing and off we go. Pretty soon, mail starts showing up IN JUST MY NAME. I called in and expressed the concern that this was HER membership, not mine. They agreed to add her to the addressee line, but said they can't take me off. Time passes, and she comes up short on cash. Now of course my credit is taking a hit because of it. I called and discussed it with their billing dept. then collections dept, and now debt collectors. The reply I got was "Well you signed the papers, so nothing we can do about it." I explained the situation....got the same reply. Tried other options with them. Got the same reply. WHAT IT COMES DOWN TO IS I WAS LIED TO. And I'm not talking about "marketing". I'm talking about bold-faced lies to my direct questions. We went to the park for two weeks over the 4th of July holiday. The park was recently purchased by Colorado River Experience. I'm giving the park 4 stars because I was definitely impressed and will be going back soon. They will earn their 5 stars when the complete their future projects they intend to do to make the park even nicer. The entire park as you drive in is centered around the "Ghost Town" located there. The 1960's TV western , The Virginian" was filmed at this location. The town is still located there along with several wagons and props of the old western times. The park itself offers a ton of things to do for kids and teenagers and adults. They have a basketball court, horse shoe pits, volleyball court with sand and a fishing pond that does need a little help. No one caught fish. :( All equipment to play is available to check out. There are two very nice pools. One pool for little children and an adult pool. They have a full service snack shack that serves dinners and lunches for just $5. The employees really try to make everyone feel like one of the family. Almost every night there is some sort of activity to join in if you like. My son loved karaoke night. They then had a DJ for an outdoor dance. There are numerous RV sites with shade and can accommodate my daddy's 41' 5th wheel. 30 amp service with water is available at each site. They have a honey wagon that comes through every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to dump your tanks for FREE! Hiking trails every where. Loved getting out and hiking the back country. Although it was 100 - 105 degrees when we were there, we had a great time. This is a private park but you can visit the park for a free two night 3 day stay to try the park out. You will have to go to the 60 min sales presentation but it will be worth it. I really recommend this park in Pollock Pines, CA. Future Plans: Opening the cowboy town's restaurant with a convenience store to buy supplies. Improved sites and many more exciting things to come. read more

This is the absolute best camping experience! It's so much more then just camping. It's a whole family fun atmosphere throughout the whole resort. My kids are never bored because there is so much to do between volleyball, tethered ball, basketball, swimming, fishing, and hiking. They're always running up to the ice cream parlor for a sundae. The ability to rent a trailer or cabin is a great option for our family. Also, having a restaurant on site is the best for nights you just want to relax. The cleanliness of the resort is alone 5 stars. Having a clean bathroom to shower in is amazing especially when camping. I wish I had more stars to give because I can't say enough great things about this place!! I just baught in to the membership with ghost mountain. Paid a good amt of money. I was told wheb signing up that members had first choice and would always have a spot. My second call and they informed me that they are full and I would have to leave after 3 days. I was put on a waiting list. My question is why am I having to scramble when i paid my dues. I would like to know how many spots are being taken by possible new members. I have heard from several people or they issues with the same thing as I am. I understand the need to sell memberships that should never affect your paying members Access to what was promised at signing. I would not have signed up if I had this information prior. This is something that is going to need to be addressed before I continue paying dues. read more

We have been members of CRA for many years and this was out first time at GMR. We got in after 10 so we spent the first night in the parking lot. When I saw how tight the bottom section is, I was very glad they didn't attempt to place us in during the night. The spot was very hard to back in to, the sites are squeezed in there. We were glad we didn't have to pay for "honey wagon" fees since we are members. We did enjoy the location for branching out to other towns during the day and there were plenty of trails to walk on and the pool was great for cooling off from the triple digit heat that week. The pool, bathrooms and laundry room were kept very clean and we were able to get quarters at the front desk for laundry. I didn't see the kids house open and was wondering if that has since opened up? The old town has potential but there weren't many activities for the kids. There are a couple games inside the tavern and they serve good dinners. I hope they are able to widen the road coming into the park at some point. It was very scary trying to get out when you encounter another bigger rig. It was really nice to have close facilities in town. Yes, we'll return for another stay in the future. read more

We spent a week here with our kids and extended family. The staff was friendly, facilities were clean, and we had a wonderful time. We stayed in a cabin as part of our CRA membership and had a tent for extended family. The cabin we stayed in was older, but it was still a wonderful time. Our kids made a movie with the ghost town scenery in the background. It was one of the best family trips we've taken. It's an hour from Lake Tahoe. We paddle boarded on the lake one day and explored. On another day, we drive to Emerald Bay and hiked. We ended our trip with water rafting with MotherLode river center. In response to some of the criticisms: Perhaps the staff listened and adjusted, because we found them to be friendly and helpful. No creepiness observed. If you have unrealistic expectations about camping, the dirt on the paths will annoy you...camping may not be for you if this is the case. Despite this, the pool, bathrooms, and cabins were super clean. Staying in a cabin here, still qualifies as "glamping." Wifi didn't work well for us, but AT&T has decent service up there. There are more activities from Thurs to Sunday morning. Bring mosquito repellent. There is a Costco and grocery store not too far away if you are planning an extended stay. We definitely plan to return! read more

Not even worth the drive. Made it there just before 10 as we indicated multiple times before that's we would arrive late due to the drive to be told they didn't have any spots when we got there and after 10 is quiet time now new guests allowed. They offered us to stay in the parking lot outside the gates no power hookups and just a nasty out house leaving my family with a new baby vulnerable in the wilderness? Not sure that was a good idea. We drove back home. I'm guessing the sales team and the staff on site don't communicate at all. We had a reservation was what we were told. What a joke. read more

I would give no stars if possible. Completely horrible. Very angry people work here (except manager and another person). Fish pond is a bio hazard. Hardly any garbage cans. The "ghost town" is a bust. Tweekers living here laying low. Very close together sites. Salesmen trying to get $13,000 dollars plus $499 dues per year. Total scam. I give this place a few years until bankruptcy if they don't vet their help. Stay away and save yourself until things get better. read more
