If you are looking to train in BJJ, this is your place. I currently attend the school in Miami and am so grateful for meeting Professor Buiu and his students. Great family atmosphere. Great bonding with the members. No egos. Professor Buiu will take the time needed to help every individual succeed and leave the class feeling great.

Kids classes (my son is 12) are held Monday through Thursday and also on Friday for those seeking to compete. The facility is clean, generally has a lot of space for the kids to warmup and then roll, and the professors all treat the kids respectfully - although they do push them to work hard and improve their technique. I want to especially commend Professor Gui and Professor Rebekah for all their positive interactions with my son. They both always make it a point to say hello and speak to him before class, asking how he is doing, how school is going, and just general questions about him. That personal touch has not gone unnoticed by me, and other parents have commented on the same for their children. Adult classes are also offered, and from the turn out I see each evening (classes begin immediately after the kids class, at 6pm) - the adult students are also impressed with the facility and instruction. Bom Jitsu is truly a family and I am glad to have found them in Castle Rock.

As a stay-at-home mom, the schedule makes it easy to fit training into our busy routine. I also love that I can bring my kids. Sometimes they take their own class, sometimes they just color and hang out with other kids while their parents train. This school is incredibly family friendly and welcoming. Another thing I'd like to add is the youth coach program. There are occasionally a handful youth coaches on the mat with the professor, and I love that my boys get the opportunity to observe bigger kids helping others and offering guidance as they train. When my boys train in the all-ages class, I also see them model that patient, coaching mindset with students who are younger or newer than them. I highly recommend Gracie Barra Castle Rock. It's a great school that makes you feel like you're part of a community and not just another gym membership.

He knows how to talk to the kids but also calls them out if they're being distracted or inappropriate. He's very understanding of the younger kids, he doesn't expect them to do much when they're new. The only rule is once you're off the mat, you need to stay off. I like that the class is only 30 mins long because my son tends to lose interest in things fast, even if it's things he likes. Coach has the weekly curriculum posted on the wall which I appreciate since I have no idea what the skills are called The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I wish there was more space. The mats are fine but the area where the parents sit can get kind of full. He has a shelf of snacks and fridge of refreshments as well for purchase. You can also buy the Gi there and other Jiu jitsu apparel in kids and adult sizes. I can tell it's already giving my son some form of discipline.
